Sal Stowers tears looked real.

I thought so, too. LA looked like he didn't give a shit he was leaving though, which I also appreciate lol.

The babies were soooooooooo adorable and made those scenes worth watching.

I wish they'd drop Johnny/Chanel, Allie/Chanel, and Xander/Sarah and give me a Xander/Chanel redux instead.

Yeah I'm a Xarah fan and I'm there too. I love Chanel and the drippy twins drag her down

This episode drove home how pointless it was to change Lani's paternity.

There was also no Olivia for this goodbye?

That being said I think they'll be back for all we know they're probably taping the Christmas episodes now. Eli was wasted on this show. Lani? Yeah I won't miss her or Elani but I do respect what they represented to the show. Speaking of Lani I forgot that she was the one (along with JJ) who apprehended Ben during the necktie killer storyline. FF years later I would've never guessed she'd go to jail and he would get a HEA.

I was bothered by Abe acting like Brandon didn't exist. I want Brandon to return and get revenge on Abe.. again, although I doubt he can lie to Paulina like he did Lexie.

Even though Sarah's story is stupid I do appreciate they are showing the lasting effects of her trauma usually this show tends to act like it doesn't happen and they are not shying away from it.

So today's ep was mostly about Lani.

So Abe decided to formally adopt her? Why?

Vivian is some Prison Matriarch or something so Lani wouldn't be safe in the jail. Uh, maybe move Vivian Alamain. I could see the cops not wanting Lani and Kristen at the same prison. That makes more sense.

I liked Julie's dancing with her grandson.

How convenient that Eli's mom's house is only a short distance from the new prison in.... Maryland.

The twins were cute. Guess they will be almost teens when we see them again.

Maybe Sarah actually seeing Kristen will get rid of the Kristen hallucinations. Way to go making friends with Chanel! Brady, why did you take that Valentine to Kristen?

I actually think that Josh Griffith was the only writer who had a clear vision on who he wanted Lani to be and that was to be a villainess.  She was supposed to become obsessed with Sean and go after Belle.  Lani did not need to be Abe's daughter to be a viable character with the right writing.

Eli was wasted and I actually am thankful that Dena created him to honor the Valerie/David relationship that was derailed by the backlash over their interracial romance. I wish we had more insight on Eli. What was his relationship like with his stepdad.  We should have gotten to see David meet his son Eli and possibly reconnect with Valerie.  Eli could have bridged the gap between his grandmother Julie and his father David.  David and Julie did not always have the best mother/son relationship, it was always fraught with tension. I don't think that the show knew how to write for Eli after Dena was fired.

Lani and JJ did work together to take Ben down. The show hinted that Lani and Ben had crossed paths in Florida and that Ben had killed before his killing spree in Salem.  Lani even said that the killer's pattern of killing women reminded her of a murder down in Florida.  There were rumors that Ben's sister knew about Ben's murderous tendencies and it is why she and Ben were constantly moving with different identities. How ironic that Ron made her the crazy one and Ben the hero.

Boring episode. I don’t care about Eli and Lani’s goodbye.

That felt like the longest goodbye in recorded history.  Lani, how can we miss you if you won't GO AWAY?  The Wizard of Oz wrapped things up in record time compared to this episode, though I did wish someone had dropped a house on the police station by the end of the show.

I hope Julie and Paulina were being paid by the amount of overacting because today, they would have made a bundle.  When Julie said she'd be the "houseguest from hell", it's the first solid truth she's told in a long time.

Show just had to ruin a good thing, though.  We're finally getting rid of the Gasper, Lani, but, now Kristen is back?  And doing her best imitation of Norma Desmond with Brady?

giphy.gif

No Kristen, you're not.  Nobody but nobody is ready for your close up.

Why, Show, WHY????????

Theo saw how much Stefano loved Peter? Huh when? I'm shocked the name Peter is allowed to even be said.

Eli and Julie dancing was cute.

Everything is so disjointed.  Theo & Kirsten hasn't been involved in Chad losing his wife, but he's interacting with Marlena&John.

Eli is going to leave before Abby funeral. Tripp left the day after she died. Abe threw a wedding before the funeral. The writing is horrible.

You should read his interview about his exodus from the show it is very telling and you were right on the money..lol He did not seem to enjoy anything about the show other than working with Sal. He really bonded with her on set so that was cool.

Eli was much more interesting than Lani and had more potential but Lani who was an absolute snoozefest got all of the stories. I would be in my feelings as well if I was LA.

Haha!

Look, I can't give Sal credit for crying on her last day because even the worst actors can muster up some goodbye tears.

I just disliked how 80% of the emphasis was on Lani leaving like some great hero. She's not. She's less awful to me now than she was earlier in her run, and I know Sal got stuck with weird writing, but I'd have thought the show would place Eli in the spotlight since he's, you know, the ACTUAL hero in this story. The cop/husband/father stuck with a bunch of annoying dolts as immediate family who always sacrifices for their sake.

If this was Lamont's last appearance, that was a weak ending. Nice moments with Julie, though. Strange that they got her out of the room for Rafe's news, though...feels like time wasted needlessly. If she'd stayed and listened to Rafe tell Eli about Viv, we wouldn't have had to see the same information relayed twice.

Is Stacey wearing a wig? Her hair looks more...Eileenish.

Hmmm, I guess

Spoiler

Kristen will be breaking out of jail in order to appear at the casino during the events of Beyond Salem...

Sarah has my sympathizes. Her storyline is depressing and stupid.

I hope they recast this Theo with one that has a pulse. His hairstyles have been the only lively thing about him.

What's up with Doug? He didn't seem alert during the end of his part of the posession storyline in November...I hope the actor is well.

Did they even follow-up on Marlena imprisoning, isolating and drugging him? Did she ever have a scene where she gave him an apology?

Or has all the MarDevil shit been swept under the rug?

(I haven't watched much lately)

Also: what's happened with Eric and Nicole? I know he's back....aaaand that's about it...

I *immediately* thought of you when she said that, boes 😆

Were they even dancing in time to the music Eli put on? I couldn't tell because the version I watched online had layers of music and repeating shots to avoid copyright infringement.

He performed two unapproved exorcisms so the Vatican called to tell him his priest days were over.

Last time he saw Nicole he had lunch with her, Roman, and Kate - think it was Abe's wedding when Lani confessed.

Not much interaction. More like 'hi' and such. He was ready to head back to Africa when the priesthood was over. Don't know why he could not work as a civilian. He was also helping Sarah deal with being told that Mickey was dead.

It looks like it to me and I don't understand why. Maybe SH changed her hair or something but they didn't want to explain it so they just gave her a wig lol.

Marlena did her apology tour right afterwards like Allie (and maybe Johnny, I don't remember) did. I think the extended apologies were stupid since it wasn't those people doing it. I swear, Ben did less apologizing for murdering women than the people who were possessed by the devil and barely did anything lol.

Kristin getting caught and re-jailed better have a bigger plot role because it made no sense in regards to Lani's transfer out of state. If Kristin was going to be back in jail with Lani, then surely she would be Lani's protection from Vivian and her new prison groupies. It's a lot easier to believe that Kristin could manipulate and control her prison minions than Vivian who largely had Ivan do her bidding.

  • Love 6

I don't believe for one minute that Kristen will stay in jail/prison. Maybe they just brought her back to add to the list of possible murderers.

Re: Eli and Lani leaving. I read an interview where LA was not happy with his farewell story and that he was hoping to just stay off and on as he was, but we saw where ReRon said he wanted to get rid of all these people they had to work around their schedules. I do hope that goes for Sami, too, but that's OT. Anyway, he did not like his exit story at all, but Sal LOVED it - of course she did - it was all about HER. She said it was her favorite story of her whole time there. whatever. I am glad she is gone.

LA better be careful.  Ron is vindictive with his writing and very sensitive about actors criticizing his work.  He might bring Eli back with a different face.  JER was just like that he used his writing to go after Matthew(Jack) Victor(John Aniston)  and Thaao(Tony/Andre) for complaining about his writing and stories.  Even when he came back to the show after his original run he found ways to marginalize Jack, Victor and Tony/Andre..

JJ mentioned Ciara and Ben took Doug and Julie to the church for The funeral.  I’m thinking maybe the guy who tried to burn Abigail alive shouldn’t be at her funeral. And I don’t even hate Ben.

That, plus the other person who also spent lots of time trying to kill her (even up to the moment she actually was killed) and may have actually killed her also should not rate so much discussion at her funeral.  I don't care whose daughter she is.

JJ was absolutely correct in his assessment of Gwen and should not have apologized to his weak joke of a father.  Gwen, if she were truly sincere in her "condolences" should have just kept quiet and let Abigail's family mourn her without any input from her.  No one needs or wants her condolences, and she knows it, but she's a narcissist who still can't stand that anything be focused on Abigail and not her.  She has to direct their attention and focus back to her, and dumb Jack and fake Jen fall for it every time.  The two of them were WAY too fucking focused on Gwen for my taste.  CM's Jennifer reverts to being nothing but a Jack cheerleader and he continues to look a fool in service of propping the retcon.  There should have been NO mention of Gwen at all on this day.  How convenient it is for her that she can act all magnanimous and selfless about Abigail when she now doesn't have to do any actual work or make any real effort to not be a murderous, heinous, bitch to her.  She can just pretend that she would have if Abby hadn't died, and Jack is more than willing to live and let her live in that same fantasy.  He is SUCH a disappointment.

Putting Gwen in Abby's obituary?  Really, Jen?  Is that what ABIGAIL would have wanted? The person who LITERALLY tried to destroy her multiple times listed alongside her kids and actual family and friends?  Nope, she was just catering to stupid Jack.  I was wondering before why the kids couldn't be with them instead of John and Marlena, but I'm now glad they aren't with their grandparents.  Jack would probably pack them up for a visit to the prison so Gwen could feel good about herself and he could pretend that all was just peachy.

Jack Deveraux, Jr is the only Jack Deveraux that is acting like how any Jack Deveraux should behave.  The elder Jack can f-off.

Poor Matt A. His character, the little I've seen of him these last few years, was better off dead. And he seems like such a game guy, happy to be there. Ugh.

Yeah, you'd think. His presence tends to make things a little....um...what's the word? Awkward!

Are we going to get to see Ben sniveling on the shoulder of his other victim, Will, too? Just for kicks?

Yeah. No.

Ugh, Jack? Seriously. I have no spoilers on who killed Abigail, but I almost hope it was Gwen just so everyone can smack Jack in his face with I told you so. (And I used to like Gwen - when she was initially a shit disturber, not a whiny "nobody looooooves meeeee" mess.)

JJ speaketh the truth.

Lucas? Reign in the faux-guilt. You're not doing yourself any favours.

I feel Kayla's pressure to say the perfect thing. I was asked to speak at a friend's service a few years ago, and it was tough to find the proper words that covered everything while relating to all audiences (his kids were present, not the best time to get into college shenanigans).

Hahahaha, with the current writing for Gwen I have zero doubt Jack will simply write off Gwen’s killing of Abigail as “oooopsie, the knife slipped”.  No way, no how will the current writing team have Jack ever, ever, ever (did  I say ever?) truly disavow Gwen for all time.

Gwen's name never should have been uttered in that obituary. Half sister isn't suffering any loss. She tried to kill her how many times?

Good for JJ. The bitch taking her fake sympathy line was spot on.

Jack I have no words for him. I hate him as much as Gwen.

Abby never should have given him the time of day after he defended Gwen.

Does Mike not exist? Only uncle mentioned for mom side was Lucas.

Good for Anna thinking it was Gwen too.

Lucas is horrible, he's really going to sit there and accuse EJ of killing Abby because of how EJ is the kidnapper.

I don't why half the people were mentioned in the obit. Sure lets mention second cousins and brother-in-laws that slept with the deceased. It was just a device to name all the cast members that were sort of related to Abby including those people via her marriage. Except the twins, Allie and Johnny. But did mention Eli who has already left town and couldn't bother to stay for the funeral.

Maybe he can join Brandon Walker in the "I have been erased from my family " club. A shame they can't do this for characters I would like to be erased from their family..

JJ is the only one with sense but that's because he doesn't stick around in Salem for long periods of time. (which makes him smarter than the rest of his family tbh)

The obit seemed a bit much. Granted, the family is rich/owns the paper.

I liked both JJs and Anna's thinking about Gwen.

Lucas, you are thinking of deflecting the blame to EJ so you don't get caught as the kidnapper?

I also liked Will and Sonny supporting their friend.

Chad's room was sure made up quickly.

Jack, stop defending Gwen.

Abs liked ee cummings? Great, Kayla. Nice choice. Hope Steve is hiding some possible suspects.

When Chad dropped by to see Tony, Anna, and EJ….did anyone else hear a fart noise when Tony went to hug Chad? I rewound it a few times and maybe it was just something in the background, but just wondering what anyone else thinks.

I’ve never seen Orpheus as particularly bright. He does, however, seem to have a knack for inhibiting the townsfolk’s access to the Salem Brain when he’s around. Just because he makes everyone else dumber than usual doesn’t make him a criminal mastermind.

In the '80s when Days had good writers, Orpheus's schemes were complex, nefarious, and clandestine. His ISA training and connections made him even more dangerous. He also had this cool aloofness that gave him a bit of a sociopath vibe (but not in Ben's mental illness kind of way).  His whole backstory sort of made him this beautiful monster. He was calculating and always at least one step ahead of the heroes and heroines of that time.  Since he outsmarted Victor, John/Roman & crew, and the ISA at every turn, I could easily see his criminal file referring to him as a mastermind.  But Ron's no good with any kind of nuisance or complexity so now all of Orpheus's plots and schemes are doomed to fail and get foiled too quickly.  It's a shame because Orpheus is very good at the long con; it's Ron who's not. He only knows how to write cheap tricks.
