Chit-Chat: The Feels

OK, maybe some. I hope everyone who chose not to vote because they "cAn'T suPporT gEnoCIde" is happy about the genocide the US is ignoring in Ukraine (not to mention the one that will probably eventually happen in Gaza).

Just kidding, they never cared about any genocide, otherwise they wouldn't cheer China or Russia against the US.

Dear god, I have never seen anything like this.

“I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post after the clash.

“I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace,” Trump wrote.

The White House confirmed after the post that a bilateral press conference with Trump and Zelenskyy, scheduled for Friday afternoon, had been cancelled.

Zelenskyy had traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Trump and sign a deal to grant the United States access to some of Ukraine’s supply of critical minerals, a demand that has become central to Trump’s continuing support for Ukraine.

But the conversation took a sharp turn when Vance accused Zelenskyy of being disrespectful.

As the back-and-forth grew more heated, Trump, raising his voice to a near-shout, told Zelenskyy, “You’re gambling with World War III.”

The stunning press event went off the rails after Trump was asked about his posture toward Russian President Vladimir Putin, which Ukraine’s supporters criticize as being too friendly, versus Zelenskyy, whom he recently called a “dictator.”

After Trump said he was aligning himself with “both of them” in order to seek peace, Vance added that former President Joe Biden’s attacks against Putin only resulted in more fighting and destruction.

“The path to peace and the path to prosperity is maybe engaging in diplomacy,” Vance said.

Zelenskyy asked to respond to Vance, noting that Putin previously broke ceasefire agreements.

“What kind of diplomacy? JD, you are speaking about?” Zelenskyy said.

Vance shot back, “I’m talking diplomacy that’s going to end the destruction of your country.” He then added, “I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office try to litigate this in front of the American media.”

Zelenskyy said, “During the war, everybody has problems, even you, but you have a nice ocean and don’t feel it now, but you will feel it in the future.”

Trump then interrupted him: “Don’t tell us what we’re gonna feel, we’re trying to solve a problem. Don’t tell us what we’re gonna feel.”

“I’m not telling you ...” said the Ukrainian president.

“You’re in no position to dictate that. You’re in no position to dictate what we’re gonna feel,” Trump said.

Raising his voice, the president said, “You don’t have the cards right now ... you’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War III. You’re gambling with World War III, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country.”

They are both such embarrassments, and so clearly not acting in our best interests, or for peace.

Both = rump and Vance.

It is a faint hope but Congress and the Senate should be making it clear that Trump does not speak for America.

And that is one of the worst  -if not the worst - things about this and where we are.  We can no longer depend on Congress to keep this country from going off the rails. Or the Judicial System. The Supreme Court was already lost.

I doubt it.  The ones that aren't afraid of him agree with him. History is not going to be kind to them. And I hope the midterms aren't either.

Arabs came from Arabia in the conquest, occupation and the colonization of this land and everywhere else in the Middle East and North Africa starting in the Seventh Century. Calling a region the Arab world should be as absurd as calling territories conquered by Britain or France after the people living there

After the shit show in the Oval Office that the sitting president has no respect for

The Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk tweeted   “Dear ZelenskyUa dear Ukrainian friends you are not alone”

Thank you sir

I hope Zelensky and the Ukrainian people know that millions of Americans are with them as well.

All of our American soldiers that fought in WW2 are rolling in their graves right now.  It has taken Trump a little over a month to destroy the alliances we have built over the past 80 years.  And all it took was for Putin to tell Trump what a good boy he is.

tRump is the biggest ass - both physically and metaphorically.

What an arrogant, sociopathic, ugly narcissist! How in hell did he become pOTUS? Oh, right...  I keep forgetting - we're all living in hell right now... and the devil is occupying the White House.

Zelensky is so much more superior in every way, and it's obvious tRump is jealous of Z's excellence.

I extend my sympathies to all my USA friends. What a shame how your country is being destroyed by this bully.

Zelensky forgot one key thing:

“It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal.”

Please, Lindsey Graham is a bootlicker who never met a war he didn't like, he'll suck up to whatever republican is in power.  They don't need anything on him.

How weird is this? Two quotes from J.D, Vance today. He must have got out his new word of the day calendar.

“I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office, litigating in front of the American media,” Vance told Zelenskyy.

About the Pope's criticism of Trump's immigration policies.

Vance told the gathering he wasn’t there to litigate “about who’s right and who’s wrong,” though he said he would continue to defend his views.

Well, he's a Yale Law graduate, you know . . .

It just occurred to me... tRump's jealousy of Zelensky is probably due to the FACT that Ukraine loves their president unanimously. Their parliament voted 286 to zero for Z to remain as president. That's because he has integrity, is a true patriot, and a lover of humanity. He's also intelligent - and - bonus - if I remember correctly, a fabulous dancer. (and we all know how tRump sucks at all the above)

He sucks at everything and he's the worst thing that has ever happened to this country and probably the world. I'm not religious but I really think if there is an Anti-Christ, he is it.

People are going to die because of the words and actions of this contemptible man but his childish tantrum "will be great television".  I honestly have no words right now.  This man is scum.

I still say we need a "vomit" button. Not that your post is vomit-inducing... I trust you understand my intention. I need a "vomit=ON=tRump" emoji STAT!

The entire world saw this Oval Office debacle. If you’re an ally of the United States, you just learned a very clear lesson: You cannot trust America under Donald Trump. Your security, your sovereignty, and your survival are all secondary to whether Trump personally feels flattered. If you are not groveling at his feet, you’re expendable..

Two months, it's only been two months and he's already got us on the brink of WWIII.  Happy Trump voters?  And those eggs are still on the pricey side so you gave up world peace for nothing at all.

Not only can't they trust us now but even if we can get rid of the rot in the current White House, how can anyone trust us to not elect another piece of crap?

I don’t think it’s that crazy to have to answer this, I work in investment banking and I often have to explain why I’m valuable.  It’s called a Review and it’s annoying but I use it as a chance to toot my own horn.  It’s not that hard to come up with a list of accomplishments.

I know you said this along time ago - I'm a fed.  We were upset because the request came from HR@OPM.gov with no consequences attached, and then on X our unelected acting president said that anyone who didn't respond would be fired.  We later received a request from our department to respond and did so.

When I worked in industry, we had to file weekly reports so no, this is not anything we can't handle.  What we object to is reporting to someone outside our chain of command who likes to threaten our livelihood.

The Trump administration has publicly and privately signaled that it does not believe Russia represents a cyber threat against US national security or critical infrastructure, marking a radical departure from longstanding intelligence assessments.

The shift in policy could make the US vulnerable to hacking attacks by Russia, experts warned, and appeared to reflect the warming of relations between Donald Trump and Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin.

Two recent incidents indicate the US is no longer characterizing Russia as a cyber security threat.

Liesyl Franz, deputy assistant secretary for international cybersecurity at the state department, said in a speech last week before a United Nations working group on cyber security that the US was concerned by threats perpetrated by some states but only named China and Iran, with no mention of Russia in her remarks. Franz also did not mention the Russia-based LockBit ransomware group, which the US has previously said is the most prolific ransomware group in the world and has been called out in UN forums in the past. The treasury last year said LockBit operates on a ransomeware-as-service model, in which the group licenses its ransomware software to criminals in exchange for a portion of the paid ransoms.
