3/5*

Pretty annoyed about missing chemistry - I correctly identified Marie Curie and Linus Pauling as the two people referenced, knew Marie Curie was physics & chemistry, knew Linus Pauling got the peace prize, and then for some reason thought his other one was physics instead of chemistry. Of course it was chemistry for him!!! Don't know what I was thinking.

I hit my head earlier on the dryer door, I think I shall blame it on that.

Oh, ouch. I’ve hit various body parts on various random things over the years, but that’s not one I’ve marked off my bingo card yet!

I don't think I'll end up with a concussion, so that is good, though it was quite the hit. I have a stacked unit and when I opened the door, a sock fell on the ground. I bent down to pick it up and on my way back up, the door had swung shut a bit so that it was in the path of me coming up, and I smacked my head on it.

I once gave myself a concussion while sitting at my desk at work, which took a year and a half to recover from. That's how clumsy and accident prone I am.

Week 30: 2/5 Tues. Milan; Fri. Chemistry

Should've known Monday (Braille), and probably Wednesday (Yellowstone), but not Thursday (Boq is a Munchkin), even though “Over the Rainbow” is one of those songs that will always bring tears to my eyes. We all have such songs, right?

Thanks for all the yummy food upthread!

It's a lovely song, but sadly has a bad memory for me. I was auditioning (6th grade) for our class play, and after singing what I thought was a heart felt version, the teacher made a joke about it. I didn't sing out loud in front of anyone until I met my husband in my late 20s. :( (poor, poor, pitiful me - others have worse experiences) I still can't sing worth a damn, but I'm not humiliated by it anymore.

My apologies for being MiA... but I have a really good excuse!

On Mar 29th, just as I was here to post my weekly results, our power went out. We had an ice storm that was spread over lots of our province, and our hydro workers have been very busy repairing downed lines, poles, etc. The damage was horrendous and our area was declared a state of emergency. On Sunday, the mister and I took a drive and it was like being on another planet. Everything was coated in one-inch-thick ice.

We just got our power back today. 9 days of no heat (luckily, we have a woodstove - and a cast iron frying pan!), no electricity, no internet, no water... it's been quite the journey. I am procrastinating cleaning out the frig and freezer by writing this ;-)

For the week ended Mar 29, I had a great week - 4/5 and 2*

For last week, I have 0 as I haven't watched tv since Mar 28! We've yet to get our satellite system up and running.

Yes! My all time fave!

Lots of favourite versions (Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole) and yet I have to say that Eva Cassidy's is the one I cannot hear without tears.

I  believe OTR was named the most popular song of the 20th century. Works for me, so I'm not going to google to check.

In 1963, my family's first winter in an unfinished suburb was like that. Dad, a former Eagle Scout, roasted hot dogs in our brand new fireplace. The ice permanently bent trees across the new, unfinished roads. My parents lived in that house for 23 years, but never saw an ice storm like it.

I never read the books - and though I watched Wizard of Oz many times, I don't remember any munchkin names.

Oh my goodness, I was so preoccupied with my sad, sad story (LOL) that I totally forgot IZ's version, which I love and have on my phone playlist.

(I've suddenly started saying "my goodness" - it's kind of freaking me out - does one just naturally start saying it when they reach a "certain" age?)

@Bliss, not ignoring you ice saga - I should have worried about you when you didn't post, but I generally wait to worry until 3 missed weeks to start worrying about ya'll. It sounds terrible, and thanks for describing your challenges.

I don't think its mentioned in the movie - just in the book of the Wizard of Oz.  But its mentioned a lot in both the book and movie of Wicked.  The three must not have been musical theatre nerds :-)

3/5 with one * - I had lucky guesses on Milan and Yellowstone.  I am a total theater/Wicked nerd, so the Boq/Munchkin question was an instaget.

Sorry for the late reporting - I got hit with what looks like food poisoning over the weekend and am still in slow recovery mode so will forgo even virtual food this week.  Hopefully my brain cells aren't too off-kilter to achieve results this week - I will have to rely on the boards for answers so far - slept through the show both days.

I f'love it. What's weirding me out is that I'm a potty mouth, raised by potty mouths, and raised my own potty mouths.

I'm right there with you, sister! They're just words that someone at some point decided to label as obscene. Even if you look at Judeo-Christian writings, the commandment says, "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord, your  God, in vain." So, if a devout person wants to say, "Oh my gosh," "Thank Heavens," or "Gosh darn it," instead of the obvious choices, I can accept that. The rest of the words, are anger management therapy as far as I'm concerned. 😄
