Clanstarling June 15 Author Share June 15 Week 40 – June 10 – No Asterisk 196. NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEWS - In 1958 a review of this book now considered a classic called it repulsive, disgusting & "highbrow pornography" (Lolita) 197. U.S. GEOGRAPHY - Of the 10 U.S. states with 2-word names, this one stretches the farthest south (New Mexico) 198. FAMOUS NAMES - Vying with Eiffel, this engineer wanted to create big; an admiring account said the obelisk of Luxor is too short to be a spoke (Ferris) 199. 1960s BRITISH NOVELS - The author of this novel said of the last chapter left off U.S. editions, "My young thuggish protagonist grows up" (A Clockwork Orange) 200. 1960s AMERICA - Helping draft an executive order in 1961, Hobart Taylor Jr. almost used the word "positive", but instead chose this alliterative phrase (Affirmative Action) 2 1 Link to comment
SoMuchTV June 15 Share June 15 (edited) 2/5 for me. Woohoo - better than the last two weeks put together! I'll treat everyone to a Ferris Wheel ride in New Mexico. I'm starting to wonder if we need to start counting "A*'s". If my search was accurate, Adriana has missed only 2 of 13 FJs, and one of them was a TS (Bryn Mawr on June 3). For the record, I didn't get that one either. Edited June 15 by SoMuchTV 5 1 1 Link to comment

For the record, I didn't get that one either. It seems like it would be easy to keep track of, especially at this point. Did Matt Amodio miss very many FJs? I don't think so? (not counting the recent tournaments) These biscottis would be easy to count — like one each per correct FJ. I got the FJ of New Mexico because I could picture it on the paper road map I had on my first road trip to California from Illinois in the 70s.… …During the 4 years I lived in Sacramento, I almost always had a Nonni's biscotti (or 2) dunked in my coffee in the morning before going to work for about 10 hours in the library of a college prep Catholic girls school. (not counting the recent tournaments) I still have a page in my spreadsheet for season 38, and he had 4 FJ misses in 21 games (through his last game on Oct 11). But he had games in the previous season as well, and that was before I started keeping track. According to TheJeopardyFan!, his career stat on FJ is 40/58. Can you tell I'm trying to put off some home maintenance I really need to get to? 1 4 Link to comment

Don't hate me, but I'd rather not include A*s in my spreadsheet - it's really not set up for that and as you might remember, I had a tough enough time last season when it came to the math. Now, if any of ya'll would like to keep track, I'm up for that.☺️ 4 1 Link to comment
zoey1996 June 16 Share June 16 Week 40: 5/5, no * YTD: 85/200, twelve * Goodness! Big surprise for me! Otherwise, not a good week. I fell last Sunday and broke my scapula, right side! Why yes, I am right-handed, why do you ask? No surgery needed. Just time to heal. 11 Link to comment
30 Helens June 16 Share June 16 1/5 (Lolita). Tues-Thurs answers were pure facepalms because they should have been easy gets, but apparently my brain was running a few beats slow this week. I was going to bring a plate of inappropriate snacks to reflect my one get, but the photos were a little too NSFW. So instead, I'll play a CD of the creepy earworm that's been pestering me all week (Ringo Starr's "You're Sixteen") and take a shot of Humbert Humbert's favorite drink, pineapple juice and gin. Join me if you dare. 3 1 3 Link to comment

SoMuchTV June 22 Share June 22 Big fat zero! There were a couple where I mighta kinda coulda got it if my mind had gone in the right direction, but for the rest, I still wouldn’t have gotten them if you’d given me an atlas and a set of encyclopedias. It's 85° now at just after 10am; it was 83° when I first looked about twenty minutes ago, with an expected high of 95° and heat index of 103°. Pass the ice cream. 5 1 Link to comment

After checking it out - he only had one wife, so I'm going to allow it. Just to be clear, folks. The tiebreaker counts as an extra point this week - so if you got them all, you'd have 6/6.
