Shannon L. June 27, 2017 Share June 27, 2017 I saw Queen w/Adam Lambert last night. Adam definitely has the right voice and attitude to front the band and as someone who enjoyed him on American Idol, it was nice to see him singing with some legends. I couldn't stop wondering what it must be like to be fronting a small band one day, then a few years later, after a silly, competition based reality show, you're on tour with freakin' Queen. It must be so surreal for him. I wrote on FB during a solo that here I sat listening to a 70+ year old man bring down the house with a guitar battle and another one of the same age running around the stage tearing up the guitar and I had to keep sitting down because my back hurt! lol! All in all, a very impressive show and a great night! 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3408929

I'd be much more excited about Lambert, May and Taylor as a group if they were actually producing new material rather than doing what feels to me to be a Queen tribute band. Freddie's gone. xaxat July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 There are two concerts I really remember. The first was Ray Charles back in the eighties. He put on an awesome show. But as my friend and I walked out, we felt disappointed that it was so short. Then I looked at my watch and realized he had played for almost two hours. Time flies. . . The other great concert was when U2 performed the US premier of All That You Can't Leave Behind. I was on business travel staying at a hotel with a view right on Times Square. I hear this "THUMP, THUMP, THUMP". I look out the window and realize that I am looking down on the old rooftop stage for MTV and there is a band getting ready to perform. I turn on MTV and Total Request Live is talking about U2 premiering their new album. So I looked out the window and saw this across the street. I love that album. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3487355

Mountainair August 20, 2017 Share August 20, 2017 I've been to a few concerts in my life: Duran Duran - my first concert Then come my boy band days: Hanson (3 times) Backstreet Boys 98 Degrees Goo Goo Dolls Then my after high school days: Allman Brothers Phish Jimmy Eat World Incubus Rusted Root Mumford and Sons Tonight was a new one for me: Tony Bennett A friend and her mom had an extra ticket so I tagged along for a rare night out without kids or spouse. It was a cool setting - outside at The Biltmore/ mountains all around. He started at 7:45 and ended at 9:15. I will say that for 91 he can still croon! At one point he forgot the lyrics to a song and then he sang the same song twice. But, hey. He's 91! Tickets were supposedly $80.00 a pop but my friends mom would only take $20.00 from me. I'd be kinda disappointed if I had paid full price. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3565546
millennium August 24, 2017 Share August 24, 2017 (edited) Dire Straits 1979 Communique tour at the Ocean State Theatre (small venue), Providence, RI. Tickets were a whopping $12. Tom Petty, The Waiting tour, Providence Ted Nugent, Wango Tango tour, Providence Pat Benatar, Providence, circa 1982 (most boring concert of my life). Billy Squier opened. Dire Straits again, Alchemy tour, Providence (a crass, commercialized parody compared to the lean, serious band I saw in '79) Katrina and the Waves, Providence Modern English, Providence Depeche Mode, Music For the Masses tour, Madison Square Garden Siouxsie and the Banshees, Peepshow Tour, Radio City Music Hall The Cure, Disintegration tour, Meadowlands (Love and Rockets opened) Depeche Mode, Violator tour, Madison Square Garden again (the best of the arena concerts I've seen) Madonna, Vogue tour, Meadowlands Pink Floyd, A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, Yankee Stadium U2 at Hartford, Connecticut (second most boring concert ever -- preachy Bono, no "New Year's Day" and only ONE pre-Rattle and Hum song, "Gloria.") The B-52s I would go to many, many more concerts today, especially since bands of my youth are still out there doing smaller venues, but I'm priced out. Ironically, I could have seen them at the height of their fame and talent for $15; now, in their twilight years, it costs $100-$200/ticket to see a performance that is but a shadow of what it used to be. I refuse to pay it, not only because it's too rich a luxury for my pocketbook, but because these shows quickly devolve into audience singalongs and cell-phone photo shoots. I wouldn't relish paying that kind of money to listen to some tone-deaf loudmouth in front of me drowning out the artist while blocking my view with an upheld cellphone. I actually became a fan as an adult and I'm not sure why he just appeals to me. You can just feel the good energy coming from him on stage. He's always so delightful and sexy! I really like Trace Adkins too. He has that great distinctive voice. How was the show Friday night, ShortyMac? I've heard of the Beacon and I think it is a similar venue to the one he's coming to in Raleigh. Sort of like Constitution Hall in DC. I've seen him there before too. I'll have to check the seat capacity to confirm. What I like is that it's smaller and more intimate, which is great, imo. I think the last night he was at this venue, it was a weeknight, but, I went anyway. It wasn't a super late night, but, I am glad that this time, it's on a Friday night. How was the show Friday night, ShortyMac? Honestly, it was just 'good.' Not horrible, not awesome. The crowd kinda sucked and Trace was pretty quiet and stiff for a Friday night and seemed to me like he was going through the motions a bit. But he's 55, so, I cut him a break. lol His songs are good and fun, don't get me wrong, but his set, for me, left something to be desired. Only 17 songs in 80 minutes (he's done sets of 19/20 recently). It was all singles except for the second song, a Don Williams cover (because he just died), and the encore. I was disappointed that he only did one song from his new album. I know most people don't want to hear a bunch of new stuff, but I really like the new album and would've enjoyed another song or two, along with two or three more deep cuts instead of single after single. But he has a big catalog now and wants to attract younger attendees like me, too, so, he's going to play singles he's released in more recent years. Having said all this, overall, it was still a good show, I had fun, and Trace's vocals and performance from a music standpoint were fine. I would see him again. 3.5/5. Yokosmom October 3, 2017 Share October 3, 2017 Since I posted my all too brief list this summer, I've seen two more acts: Green Day--music was good, though the venue wasn't so hot. Everyone stood the whole time, I'm 5 feet tall, and I could only get a flashing glance at the stage once in a while. And the monitors were both tiny and old. Paul McCartney--great show. Yes, his voice was creaky on some songs, but by and large, he was able to do a good job on most. He performed for 3 hours straight without a break, in an incredibly hot arena, and covered almost 40 songs. And....the stage scaffolding caught on fire due to the pyrotechnics in Live and Let Die! So, doubly, memorable :) It has taken me 43 years, but I have now seen 3 of the 4 Beatles, (John being the obvious exception). I hate that I missed him this summer, and now there will never be another chance. My husband isn't much into concerts, so I'll just need to find a friend to go. Same here. I never thought to see TP live until this year, and would have but by the time I decided on it, the show was already sold out. Also missed U2+Beck because I didn't want to deal with nosebleed seats in a football stadium. Busy year for me and my wife, though: Bon Jovi, Huey Lewis, Garth+Trisha (last night), with Billy Joel and Lady Gaga still to come. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3705184

It's one of the biggies that I haven't seen yet. I did see U2 in NY awhile ago. My boyfriend at the time and I flew to NY to see them. We waited most of the day to get inside the heart (near stage section) and it was awesome. If my finger nails were longer, I could have touched Bono and the Edge, as they walked around the heart area. Here's a link. It was a great show. http://www.u2gigs.com/show1106.html I saw Garth in concert too, but, I was so far back, that it was not as enjoyable. Wish I could see him up close. I saw Trisha too, many years ago when she first got started. I've seen Billy Joel as well. LOVE this guy. His music touches my heart. Very good performer. I've never seen Huey or Lady GaGa. I'm not sure that I will. I bet they are good shows though. Hanahope October 12, 2017 Share October 12, 2017 So I'm taking my girls, 10 and 13 to their first concert at the end of the month, to see Fall Out Boy. My 10 year old also wants to see Pink in April. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3715276

Hanahope October 12, 2017 Share October 12, 2017 Didn’t get presale and tickets are pricey already. Have to see if we find something in budget closer to the show. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3716500
Hanahope October 26, 2017 Share October 26, 2017 Tried to get Foo Fighter's tickets this morning. First pre-sale with Capital One. Entered my request right at 10:05, and already, nothing but lawn tickets. :p Not doing lawn. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-3756551
aradia22 November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 Had to go out to a really sketchy part of Brooklyn but Kitten and/or Sizzy Rocket are great to see live if you get the chance. They both still have a really... unpolished vibe. It's not really an artistic movement or a political statement. Just people who are still outside of the mainstream enough to do what they fucking want. Sizzy's got the sex, drugs, and rock and roll vibe but in more of a pop package. She's a mashup of a bunch of different people but in a way that feels a lot more genuine than her commercial counterparts and definitely less about catering to the male gaze. She's really fun. Chloe, the lead singer of Kitten is just a powerhouse. No fear and an amazingly energetic dancer. I'm not totally sold on her new look. I feel like she was channeling more of an old school rock vibe before (kind of a rock hippie vibe) and she's in a similar 60's/70's era now but in more of a futuristic way. It was, by far, the best Kenny Chesney show I've ever been to. I don't have the words to describe the vibe, the performance, or anything. It was just so amazing. Gilette Stadium, on the other hand, is a hot mess to get into and out of. I cannot wait to see him there in 2018! I "took" my mom to see Neil Diamond for her birthday last year. It was at the same venue we saw him at when I was a kid. I'm glad she finally took me up my offer to "take" her to a concert since he retired. In 2018 I am attempting to get Elton John tickets on Friday - he's been on my 'to see' list for over a decade. I'll go alone if I have to I'll be seeing Kenny Chesney at Mercedes Benz and maybe PHL and TN depending on friends. As much as I'd love to go back to Boston the issue of money and what a hot mess Gillette Stadium is making it a pass. But I can see him 3 times for less than 1 trip to Boston would cost. I saw Neil once and it was great. But, I grew up with him and loved his music. It was such a trip down memory lane, as it was a group of girlfriends who went. I'm excited for you regarding the Elton John concert. I have seen in him concert many times, but, it's been a while ago. It may be different now, that he's older. But, I will tell you that there are just some performers who PUT IT ALL OUT there and Elton was one to do that. He and Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones and a few more really pour their heart into their performances. We stood in the rain and mud for one Elton show and he did not disappoint. He saw what we went through and he really make the show special. He sang and played his heart out. His shows are worth every penny and more, imo. I hope you have a great time and it's as good as it used to be. I really hope I can land Elton John tickets. I always wanted to see him in a head-to-head tour with Billy Joel but it wasn't meant to be. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/13293-what-concerts-have-you-seen/page/4/#findComment-4017920
