Deborah Roberts is great guest co-host!

I thoroughly enjoyed the show today.  I don't know if it was Joy as moderator or Deborah Roberts, perhaps both, but the synergy was sparkling for a a change.  Even Sunny's Christmas ugly outfit didn't dampen the mood.

Debra is very careful about not saying anything controversial, even when it comes to anti vaxxers. I don’t say this as a criticism, I imagine she’s mindful of her day job and doesn’t want to alienate the audience.

Apparently, J-Lo, was backstage at the Kimmel show & was NOT happy about what was being said about Ben.  Just sayin'!!!

OMG, J-Lo wasn't happy! Obviously, everyone else was wrong. :-)

It is very possible that the clip that was played was only part of a more thoughtful discussion, but it isn't as though Ben didn't actually say those things. Maybe he went on to talk about how wrong that was. Ben and J-Lo have been around long enough to know how things work. Be more aware of what you are saying and you won't have to get upset.

What truth? I read a couple of articles about his response to the backlash. Boo-Hoo, what he said was taken out of context and everyone is being a big old meanie. He didn't deny saying what he did.

I've seen him in action when he's on shows, and so this doesn't surprise me.

Ben has never been an ator I warmed to & Iom don't feel one bit sorry for him, but the truth is the truth!!

Im trying to remember when the tough shittness started.  Maybe after the Oscar win.  Early on he was just a Boston brash Boy. Then had a bunch of successes giving him more and more confidence. Then Gigli was a bit of a NJ stomach punch. But then rebounded and basically saved his own career.  Still shouldn't talk down asshole. That woman is a saint for all she has done for you.  And you don't have one iota.  If it wouldn't traumatize the girls so much,  id park them on his front step and walk away.  But it would hurt them and frankly me as well.  Ben should talk to Charlie and Denise.  ☠  😱

True, but Deborah just makes the show more alive!

The Ben Affleck story turned out to be bull-crap!!  He was on Kimmel last night & completely debunked what was said.  Our Canadian talk show, The Social with Lainey Lui, their resident gossip columnist, discussed it this morning & Lainey said the press took a small portion of a 2 & 1/4 hr. interview out of context.  Apparently, J-Lo, was backstage at the Kimmel show & was NOT happy about what was being said about Ben.  Just sayin'!!!

What do you mean debunked what was said? We heard him say the things people were talking about. Of course the headline is going to be the most scandalous thing he said. The whole interview is out there. It can be listened to, but he did give the media a little catnip by being obnoxious about his ex wife. Did he also frame it and say he respected her blahbla, I'm sure he did but how about keep some thoughts in that big head of his.

As fo JLo, I really like her. I respect her hustle but please give me a break. Ben was an ass to her in the past. If she's not happy with people criticizing Ben, tell Ben to stfu. And there won't be a problem. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Has Ben Affleck had any successful movies that did not involve Matt Damon?

When Joy moderates, she likes to have good things mentioned in the show to balance all the bad news. That may be what sets the good tone, compared to when Whoopi starts off with complaints.

I found a quote online: “I was really happy with it,” he told Kimmel, saying he left thinking he should do “more honest, exploratory, self-evaluating” interviews.

My take: Is Ben new?? This sounds as though he's never done an interview before. Interviews (esp. with someone like HS) are not the place to go into your deep "self-evaluating". They are designed for you to say benign things OR get you to say something that is spicy so they can publicize it. Save the self-evaluation for your SO or therapist - someone who could actually help you. Millions of curious people are not going to be that.

I don't know how successful it was, but I just watched The Way Back on Netflix last weekend because I literally had nothing else to do and could not find anything else to watch.  You will not find a lesser fan of sports than me, nor an even lesser fan of movies about sports so when I tell you that it was a delightfully thoughtful little movie that I highly enjoyed, it is based on the great writing and acting; including Ben's.  He plays a guy struggling with alcoholism so the 'autobiographical' comments write themselves but he was great in it.  Felt like a raw, unplugged, bullshit-free version of him.  Actor vs. celebrity version of himself.

"Did you have sex at your parents' house?"

"No, and neither did my parents."

This is why I love Joy.

But what about their matinees? She's told us all about 100X that her mother told her that her father "loved his matinees."  Joy's old school, corny humour is such a big part of her charm.  You know what's she's going to say half the time because you've heard her say it before, but it's still funny and still makes you laugh.  Again.

Yes, even if he tried to put it into a broader context, he should have been more aware of how what he said would be perceived and used. It isn't as though he's never been interviewed before. As I said, this kind of thing is bound to get publicized. Sharing your bad impulses and thoughts with a lot of people is not going to absolve you of them.

Before I underwent chemo, I was provided with information about how I would probably lose my hair; it provided statistics, that maybe 1% (not sure about that, so don't quote me) wouldn't lose their hair. Olivia Newton-John had that ice cap treatment, so she wouldn't lose her hair--but that is hella expensive. Maybe Amy used that treatment.

The one we have, at my job is hella expensive and painful too.  Also tedious to use.  I know of a CEO who tried to use the system, but could not tolerated it past a few minutes.  She bought a lovely wig instead.

Hopefully everything is ok now with you.

I lost respect for him after reading that when he did  Finding Your Roots, he wanted the fact that his ancestors owned slaves scrubbed from the show.

Didn't FYR decide to scrub his whole episode?

Deborah on today is why I think the View always needs a journalist at the table. Someone who has to be balanced and sometimes reign in the table when they get carried away but not in a combative or argumentative way. bring it back to reality. Not a coincidence when the moment the show removed Meredith it got so drama heavy lol

I had to laugh at Sara touting “unpaper towels,” (also known as “towels”) like they were something special.

(My cable froze at that point so if there is something special I didn’t hear.)

I love Andy Grammer. He seems like such a nice guy. Ahh, he took the place of Darlene Love appearing live. That’s why he wasn’t credited for today. See?  Nice guy popping in last minute.

My cable froze then too. Must have been an Indiana thing. But the un-paper towels was really funny. Apparently it is a thing because you can find them on Amazon. They are made of cotton! It says, "Machine washable, quick drying, and will replace many household cleaning & kitchen disposables. Designed to be worked hard."

I remember cotton towels.

does that mean next week is all repeats?  I seem to remember Ms Love performing closer to the holiday itself.  I didn't see the roster so i don't know who or why but i saw something that had them both listed and i thought to myself, he's replacing Brian Adams, and whomever was last year i forget. But Andy, i have a soft spot for him.  He made a video of cancer survivors all ringing the bell and getting their good news.  Its plays round the clock for the month of October. Then its gone, but i tell ya it makes me weep every dam time hah.  There's a couple of people in particular that I am so happy for, i hope they're doing well.

Yes, next week will be all repeats. Darlene Love had to cancel because of a Covid close contact. She was on zoom and said she’s fine though.

Yes i saw her clear it up at the end.  Poor Darlene, year after year the fates conspire

I, on the other hand, really don't like JLo and think the only reason Ben was out doing PR to repair any damage the comments may have caused is because she's using her romance with him as publicity for herself. If he looks like an asshole, that's bad for her. In the clip they played on The View, he honestly sounded drunk at the time to me with the way his words were slurred, which sort of disproves the idea Garner was the reason he's an alcoholic. Unless he's just hit the bottle so hard so often in the past that he's not capable of speaking normally anymore.

But I've never liked Affleck (or Damon) either. I always thought Garner was too good for him even back when they first became a thing and the media was going crazy over them.

I'm sure there is truth that JLo wanted him to fix it. Idk. They both are old enough and been in the game long enough to know what they say is going to get attention. Especially when they are a couple.  I'm sure the using of each other is a two street.

I can't stand Matt or Ben, if you can't tell lol.

Ben has foot and mouth disease.  His Oscar speech in 2013 where he blurted out his marriage to Garner was work made the news for a while.  The wedding on the beach where she jumped up on him after the I do's always had me wondering how long it would last and I wasn't surprised when I found out Violet attended the wedding in utero,

I was never a fan of JLO but I think she can do better than this guy.

I've been busy the last few days, so mostly stray thoughts about the past few shows here. What a shame Darlene Love coudn't perform live. I would've rather she had sung remotely rather than watching old clips of her singing from the past. I remember in spring 2020, American Idol had to have all their artists perform remotely, so it wouldn't have been that big of a deal to me?

Sara's hair has looked fantastic the past few days. I loved the day when it was just three, although I admit Joy, Ana, and Sunny would've been the best trio. They are the ones carrying this show, imo. I'm so sorry for Ana. I knew as soon as Joy started to explain why Ana couldn't be there that it was probably her mother, since I think she was asking for prayers for her mom not that long ago. This week of shows turned out to be much more fun than I expected considering the guest list.

It seems The View has changed its tune on the Kardashians. I dont hear Whoopi mocking them with an annoying valley girl accent anymore. Instead we've gotten Kardashian praise 2x this week. Kim passed the baby bar 👏. Kim hired a pianist 👏. And don't think I have forgotten the fact that The View said nothing about Kylie's baby daddy's Astroworld concert tragedy.

I wonder what changed. 🤔

There was a moment, not sure if anyone saw it. I believe it was early in the week. Dont recall if it had to do something with hot topics. I would be a great professional specialist witness imho LOL.  Anyway the conversation turned to be about the empty chair. Not sure if Ana was there.something was said and Sunny put on her street PR persona and made veiled, ironic sarcastic remarks to TPTB about why isn't Ana in a chair.  It was quick, just a few seconds but even i was snapping fingers, go mlm Grrrlllll,   get the job done!
