Nidratime July 13, 2017 Share July 13, 2017 Cool. Some new photos from EW. I'm guessing they're from the newest issue. We see Lord John Grey and a younger Brianna. I'm putting it in here because they also include some spoilers which book readers would know, but others might not. http://ew.com/tv/2017/07/13/outlander-lord-john-grey-photo/ Link to comment

Yes, there's a rope, but if you look at his wrists, there's also cuffs connected with chains. You're probably right that they did remove the chains before they left the prison, but, for some reason, I remembered it happening after they returned. Link to comment

I recall there was a scene in tavern where he and LJG were chatting and then John noticed black bruises left by the iron on Jamie's wrists, Jamie noticed that he had noticed and pfff...all their camaraderie was gone. A fan posted a gif from a scene featuring the Dunsanys, Jamie and Ellesmere. All the credits for Manders 1984. https://abreathofsnowandashes.tumblr.com/image/162984793313 Apparently they removed Jamie's dashing jump to retrieve baby William from Ellesmere's hands after he just got shot. When you watch carefully, you can see that Ellesmere is falling to the floor while still holding the baby in one hand and the infant hits the floor right next to him while Jamie stands there among powder smoke. Now....huh....I don't know but wouldn't that just kill poor wee William? Why should it? People drop babies all the time - hell, I dropped my little niece on her head and she was fine (I was seven.) That baby appears to be well-swaddled so there's no reason to think that the fall would result in instant baby-death. Also, it looks kind of like the old man's body broke the baby's fall. lianau July 15, 2017 Share July 15, 2017 I'm a bit more concerned that they have this scene in what appears to be an open hall way . Too many servants as potential witnesses instead of just Jamie, the Dunsanys and the other groom who was immediately pensioned off to Ireland . Link to comment

Nidratime July 18, 2017 Share July 18, 2017 Quote - interesting that Jamie gets arrested in Lallybroch courtyard. I wonder if they removed his self-sacrifice alltogether or that was his plan - if so, I would think that getting arrested while visiting his family would compromise Janny&Ian and the rest of the Murrays. I don't recall how they set up Jamie's arrest after Fergus was hurt, but maybe -- in the TV version -- they're going to have Jenny pretend to give him up to the authorities, which will put the Murray's in good stead with the English and keep Lallybroch in their hands. Just the look on Jenny's face suggests how she really feels about seeing Jamie being taken. 5 Link to comment

It makes sense that Jenny would pretend to give him up as it keeps his whole recapture simpler. 2 hours ago, Grashka said: They may be showing that much of Frank because of Tobias Menzies' status as a Golden Globe nominated actor. Because that's very important IMO - Geneva is beautiful - Caitriona Balfe's acting rocks - is that Claire making love with Frank in the front of fireplace? - the last 10 seconds is pure magic - but the trailer music is an overkill. Something by Bear McCreary instead would be better IMO Can you explain where we saw Geneva in the trailer? I didn't notice her and I would like to get a look! Link to comment

My thinking was that they probably want to save all the Jamie stuff for the fan excitement factor, so they "plotted" the teaser to tell this story this way. No one I know is going to *squee* over Frank, no matter how much they like him or appreciate Menzies' acting, but they can get a lot of hype later if they make us wait for the iconic Jamie scenes. I'm sure once we have all the episodes that the percentage will be much more in Jamie's favor. Plus of course, everything we see here is probably packed into the beginning of the season and the promo just leads up to the print shop. (OMG!) Once Claire gets back to Jamie I assume we'll cut way down on any Frank stuff. Quote - interesting that Jamie gets arrested in Lallybroch courtyard. I bet it's a 2:1 Jamie:Claire the first several episodes. Jamie's story is so much more fleshed out than Claire. Since this is probably all we get of Tobias, I hope we find out how much Frank knows. That shot of him looking at the clock made me wonder if that's him knowing, with his heart condition, he's living on borrowed time. Of course, it could be the obvious reference to time-travel. Still, I'd really like to see what he's learned (records in the past, Brianna's family tree, etc), just like how we're going to actually watch Culloden happen, instead of hearing about it piecemeal over 6 books. During the second half of the trailer, when you see Jamie looking like he's naked from the waist up - if not all the way - and the next snippet has him standing in front of a young dark-haired woman. Rilla-my-Rilla July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 I ended up watching the trailer the first time with 2 co-workers and they both questioned the capture scene too. Like others said, I figured Jamie and Jenny set it up so she would "turn him in" and get the reward money/ get on England's good side. It looked like Jamie was just making a big show for the soldiers of being Hello! I am home! I haven't been living in a cave near by or anything not at all! So same idea as the book, but slightly different execution. They also grumbled a bit about all the Frank, but I said it's not like they'd show us anything with Claire and Jamie. I was surprised we even got her walking up the print shop! Teases! :) I wish we could watch it now. 1 Link to comment

But most of all: that moment of terror when she wakes up in the hospital and Brianna is not with her (such a sad throwback to "Where is my baby?" scene in "Faith") and finally, lips trembling when she is approaching Alexander Malcolm's printshop (gorgeous art design BTW I also love that Edinburgh seems to have something of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley feel to it, only more dirty and gritty ). nodorothyparker July 20, 2017 Share July 20, 2017 Should we assume from those portraits that they've aged up Marsali to avoid the squickiness of 30-year-old Fergus running way with a 15 or 16-year-old girl? Because she looks noticeably older than Brianna there. Sam's quote in the accompanying text mentions that "He’s not himself for maybe six episodes." The same about Jenny being the one to "sell" Jamie to English soldiers instead of one of their tennants. The end result is the same but on the screen we also get a powerful image of "betrayed" brother and sister whose heart is breaking, surrounded by armed British soldiers. Altough I have to admit that this particular change gives me a pause - I can see the benefits for the Murrays, getting on the British good side by "betraying" their hiding Jacobite relative. But wouldn't it also put a huge stigma on Jenny in the eyes of other Highlanders - a sister who sold her own brother to the enemy? Because how many people could have been on the joke? Perhaps the servants will be in on it too and spread the word to their tenants? I'm not too worried about Jamie carrying Fergus instead of the Red Coats, but I do find it interesting Fergus is so young. In the book, he must be about 17 years old, right? He was 10 in France, less than a year in Scotland before Culloden, and Jamie lived in the cave for seven years...wasn't it Fergus getting his arm cut off what prompted Jamie to turn himself in? Anyway, I think it'll work out okay in the end, just got me to thinking. 4 hours ago, Grashka said: I will reserve my judgement of Young Ian until I see him on the screen but based on the portrait he seems completly off the mark to me. I had the same reservation with Lord John at first, too, but after seeing the promo photos--and watching the actor in another role--I think it's going to be fine. At one point Cait said they filmed episode 8 early to accommodate filming schedules of some cast (and it seemed like episode 8 was when they're back in LallyBroch.) and that when they filming episodes 6 and 7, she and Sam would be together for the rest of the season filming from that point. They did the same thing for the first-ever episode and it was a good way to generate buzz for the new show. The gap between season 2 and season 3 was longer than usual due to their moving it from April to September so creating buzz to bridge that gap by having an sneak peek viewing of the first episode in July seems like a reasonable decision. I'm sure the fans in the audience fairly lost their minds so I'm happy for them. But I'll be treading carefully for a few days. Diana has invited people to discuss the ep under a posting on her Facebook page so if you don't want to know anything about the ep, steer clear of that. She indicated that the episode doesn't show what happened with Murtagh, it doesn't show his death. Dust Bunny July 29, 2017 Share July 29, 2017 This is a buzzkill. From EW, about TCA: Quote But one reporter wanted to know whether the series — which is about to kick off its third season — plans to go for any many seasons as there are Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. There have been eight novels, and Gabaldon is currently working on the ninth, titled “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Moore seemed to suggest they may not make it that far. “I can’t imagine a scenario where we catch up to Diana [and her books],” he told reporters Friday. “She will tell us the end of the story.” Anyone know if there's the typical 6 season contract?
