I think everyone on the tell nothing was trying for another season, the more angry, and interesting you are, the more the characters have a chance of another season.

I think Michael really thinks that being in the U.S. will be a great move for him, and he's so wrong.

We did see Meemaw getting them pizza which I suspect is a regular occurrence. Remember we learned in Nigeria that she’s not a “cooker.” Pizza is not going to be on the menu for her after WLS. The kids aren’t able to go to the grocery store to buy junk by themselves so there’s at least one adult Enabler shopping for the family. Here’s an idea, Angela, instead of getting surgery, why don’t you bring healthy food into the house and you or Skyla prepare it?

The popcorn thing was a gag that fell flat.

It actually made me kinda embarrassed for and annoyed at Kalani.  The "eating popcorn" meme or gif is basically used when you're amused or entertained by someone else's fight or argument.

🤷‍♂️ Meh...keeps me in business

Actually, there were TOO MANY "Green Card" comments from Coltee and Mommee: on and on and on.  Jess earned that card before she even met the new guy.

I don't understand how "Jess earned that card before she even met the new guy", when she said that she was on her way back to Brazil when he offered to marry her.

That "earned" was MY comment.  It's sarcasm.  It's snark. I'll repeat the many ways Jess earned a Green Card--yes, before meeting the new guy (I'm sure there are more):

  • An AWARD for being as pleasant as possible to Darling Debbie  (the meddling momager-in-charge)
  • Walking on the beach with Colt in his Speedo (and maintaining her dignity)***
  • Dealing with his lies and cheating--and lies and cheating, and lies and cheating...and cheating and lies.
  • Seeing the - - - - pix  he sent to other women
  • Worst of all...having s-e-x with some Blubber Boy who "loves to - - - -."  Classy!
  • Any foreign national who spends more than a week with Debbie should receive an automatic Green Card and $10,000.

On the other hand, for five hours viewers had to listen to Jess call Coltee "a liar".  As a matter of fact her only contribution was, "you lie", "you a liar".  I think viewers got it the first 50 times.  Colt may be a low down dirty rat, but let's not pretend that Jess is a Saint.  She knew what Colt was all about, and yet she was all over him like white on rice.

  1. All of us should blame Production and Editing for most of the repetition.
  2. It's possible Jess provided interesting comments--but Standards & Practices (legal+censors) wouldn't allow it.
  3. I don't think anyone is pretending Jess is a saint...but she will never be as low as Colt...or Mommy Conspiratress, Debbie.
  4. DID Jess really know what Colt was all about?  I don't see it.
  5. Did TLC tell Colt that his storyline with Larissa was over--done, and unless he found someone new, he was toast?
  6. Maybe Production provided Jess for him.
  7. This is reality TV; we'll never know what's really going on.
  8. Colt definitly IS a liar.  He denied it.  Debbie denied it.  Then...Debbie, he admitted it!

Syngin should just move back to South Africa so he and his friends can act like 12 year olds for the rest of their lives.

I have to disagree. I'm older than Syngin and I love to travel, party and hang out with my friends and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. We all have different ways of living our lives and one way isn't any more "adult" than the other. I would die of boredom living in a suburb with kids for example, but I recognise it makes other people happy and wouldn't criticise them for doing what they wanted and what makes them happy.

I agree with TakiTaki.  South Africa is not America ... just as Connecticut is not Los Angeles.  There are different cultures everywhere--even within cultures.  Free Spirit Syngin didn't know much about America, but Tania (pretending to be a free spirit) certainly saw that the South African lifestyle was different for Syngin and his friends.  She expected him to fit her mold.  Tania will always have difficulty in a relationship unless she finds someone who needs and WANTS to be dominated...to be bossed around.  Some flightly little thing (male or female) whose life will be easier if they just lake Tania Take Charge!  When she finds a way to be in charge, she'll probably find it's not that much fun and she'll end rebelling against THAT!

Syngin is an appealing and charming character.  He'll probably be happier back home, getting by with as little responsibility (and income) as possible.  I hope they split up and find happier lives.  I'll miss Syngin.  I won't miss Tania.

Why else would Larissa and Jess want to come here with the current situation and health care issues?

This isn't the reason, of course, but you asked about the "current situation and health care issues."  Brazil's situation is worse than ours.  "Latin America became an epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in May, driven by Brazil’s ballooning caseload as the number of known infections in Europe fell. Seven months after its first known case, Brazil has had at least 4.7 million cases — more than all of Europe — and over 142,000 deaths."

Honestly Jess was my favorite part of the whole tell all.  And strangely enough Libby and Andreis because they were relatively drama free.

Libby was feeling very smug and superior, and she smirked throughout.  She made potshots at the other cast members once Andrrrei opened the door with his own questions or comments.

The tell-all exposed how lame all the storylines were: Libby's family doesn't like Andrrei, the suspected criminal and grifter.  Angela can't tote an aig and physically abuses Michael; Larissa had plastic surgery; Syngin's a drunk, Tania's a harpie; Asuelo is Kalani's 3rd baby; and Colt's a loser who will never cut his umbilical cord from Debbie.

I think Angela’s moved on from Michael. The whole toting a baby storyline was ridiculous from the start. I think Angela’s hoping for a TLC spin off ... Angela Gets Weight Loss Surgery... starring Angela.  Michael doesn’t have a hope of coming to America any time soon anyway.

She’ll probably get a face lift, new teeth, hair extensions, new lips  etc., along with WLS courtesy of TLC.  Too bad they can’t implant a new personality. But feisty Ange is good for ratings methinks.

Hope I’m wrong, but we live in weird times

I don't find Syngin appealing or charming at all.  He reminds me of this commercial:

But seriously.  Syngin knows who he is, he's a stoner, he wants to hang out, get drunk, wash, rinse, repeat.  Tania on the other hand doesn't want to build a bear.  However, if Tania wants a man who has a plan, then she has to be serious about her own plan.  She doesn't seem all that ambitious to me.

  • Debbie Buttinski said he didn't cheat on her.  Is she a liar or just ig-nernt and blind?

It was insulting to all the other participants, signalling that their emotions and situations were nothing but entertainment to her--as if she's not one of them.  The popcorn emoji brought to life is exactly what it was.  "Well, now I'll just sit back and enjoy the shitshow."

Jess - because she at least seemed happy with her life as it is now.

Libby and Andreis - because they didn't scream the whole time.

This whole season was a waste of time as far as I am concerned - and still I watched it which doesn't say much about me...LOL!

Yeah, it just fell flat.  I can eat popcorn watching this, but her and her marriage to dimwitted man child have no place to laugh at the shitty situations of others.  Honestly, even if there was a fairly drama free couple, it wouldn't be a good look for them to do the popcorn gag.  I wonder if she is getting any blowback from that or if she thinks she is going to be a meme.

I would die of boredom living in a suburb with kids for example, but I recognise it makes other people happy and wouldn't criticise them for doing what they wanted and what makes them happy.

The problem with Tania and Syngin isn't Syngin- he could easily find someone who wants to live life like him and be happy. But Tania presented herself to him as exactly that. It's only after they got married that she revealed she wasn't the free spirit she presented to him, but actually wants to settle down and have kids asap. To top it off, she gripes on and on about how Syngin "has no direction", particularly job-wise, when she hasn't done any better for herself. She literally has the same profession as him but yet somehow it's not acceptable that Syngin isn't suddenly interested in becoming an accountant or something, while she does nothing (and no, going to witch doctor party camp doesn't count).

Yeah, Tania has nothing to complain about in the "you aren't behaving the way I expected" department.  She sold herself from day one, apparently, as this free spirit without responsibilities when she abruptly moved in with three young men in a country far from her own.  Did she try to curb the drinking and staying up all night then?  or did she sell herself as One of Them?  At least one of the roommates said she "took over," but I'd like to know in what way?  Did she sit them all down and tell them that from that moment on, they all had to get 9-5 jobs and keep their rooms clean?  I doubt it.

And then, when Singin arrived for the 90 day period, she took off for a month--who does that, if not a Free Spirit?--to learn voodoo or something?  All he could tell about what she was doing was from her drunken phone calls with loud music and voices in the background.  He's supposed to infer that this is a person who wants June Cleaver's life?  A confusing clue was that she expected him to fix up their shed while she was gone?  What?

He expressed his reluctance to have a baby right away early on, yet she steamrolled over that with boobs and tears.  Hell, I'd want to get away from her and drink myself silly, too.

He's no angel, but he has been upfront about who he is.  Should he even have considered getting married?  Hell no.  But he thought he'd found a drinking buddy who would as a bonus fuck him.  There is no free lunch, singin.

The only couple that interests me at all is Debbie and Colt.  They are both so very transparent and yet so un-self-aware that it's hard to imagine that it's not all an act.  But somehow I don't think it is.  My mind keeps going back to a scene in the car--maybe it was in Brazil-- where Debbie, in the back seat, was laying into Jess for moving too fast.  Colt sat there looking expectantly at Jess, when it was so clearly his job to tell his mother not to interfere.  Jess hesitated only a second before she responded to Debbie.  I want to be in the room with Colt when he watches the interactions among himself, Debbie and Jess/Larissa.  I think it would be interesting to watch--if it ever would happen--Colt's dawning awareness of the true nature of his and his mother's relationship.  Unless it's all an act.  But I don't think it is.

Colt's new *sexy* hairdo tells me he's on the hunt.  Get a few more dick picks out there, Colt--that'll bring 'em flocking to you.

Tell All Pt. 2

I think Kalani and Asuelu shouldn’t mend their relationship UNLESS Kalani lets her dad beat his butt to make him a man. He’s way too immature. still young, wants to play video games, hang out with his friends. He don't help Kalani with the boys or the house. Kalani can and deserve better.

I honestly believe Colt just used Jess for a storyline this season. I believe he really doesn’t like women, I think he’s  actually angry at all women because of how he was treated by them growing up. The only woman that was probably there for him was his mom and that’s why she can’t stop protecting him. 🤷🏻‍♀️ In fact, how can he respect anyone if he can not respect himself? He needs to leave all women alone and start working and learning to be a man (a good man), and he has got to get his bum ass out of his mom’s house and support himself to start.

I believe in her heart that Angela wants Mykul to have a baby.  She just lied about being able to provide since day 1.  Either she's ignorant or she's lying.  And stupid Mykul didn't bother to do any research to see if it was remotely possible even though his family and friends said she was too old.

And now she wants to put the pressure on Skyla?  She said no.  How many times does she have to say it?  And she threatened her by saying they always get what they want and she's going to give her eggs and tote the kid whether she wants to or not?  Or what?  Gonna ground her?  STFU.

Kalani and Tania married good-time boys and are surprised that marriage has not turned them into responsible adults.  Look at Ash, girls, if you want to see what A Serious Man who provides good sex looks like.  Would you want to be hitched to that creep?  Better to find someone you like, then find out about sex, then have long talks about the future each of you wants, then think about getting married.  If you don't share a plan for the future, especially if it involves children, better just to have a good time and then move on when Mr. Right shows up.

I think Kalani would be happier as a single mom than she is married to Asuelu.  She has a supportive family who obviously adore Oliver, and it would be good for her to get a job and support herself.  Given that they were not slutty enough to use a condom and she was so virginal as to not be using any other form of birth control, Oliver was an inevitable result of their good times; I get that.  But breaking up a marriage where there are two children who know their father is way more traumatic for all involved that being a single mom with one child and a large, supportive family.

I think everyone involved deserves better, but I am a little harder on the women because of their desire to get married with the expectation that marriage would change their child-men.

On re-reading this, the men shouldn't get off any easier because they assumed the women would continue to be party girls--although that is all they knew about their future wives, that they liked to party and do sex.  So maybe the men are less culpable.

Never mind.

I agree with your initial point.  If you think you are going to want to change the nature of the relationship, you should let someone know.  Otherwise I think its not unfair to assume that the relationship will continue in the same vein.

I always find the conversation awkward and uncomfortable, but it has to be done IMHO.

I don't think Kalani married a good time guy, I think she really married a dimwit.  I don't drink, so maybe that was a factor, but I cannot see how a person could ever be attracted to someone that stupid.  I wonder if this all results from Kalani's low self-esteem and body image*.  Maybe having a guy tell her she is beautiful, sexy and had a perfect body blinded her.  She has likely lived a lifetime in the US being told she is fat and ugly.  I wonder if she had a boyfriend or relationship prior to meeting Asuelu

*- I don't KNOW that she had low self-esteem and body image, but it seems like it would be hard to be her size growing up in Orange County or SLC

A while ago--it might have been after the release of Moana--I tried to find out why so many South Pacific islanders seemed to be so big, in a special way:  they strike me as chunky, blocky--not fat, but *big*--and one of the articles I read said it was genetic (duh) because since the islands are so far apart, the successful explorer tended to be men who could store calories efficiently, to sustain their caloric needs on long voyages.  It sounds a little simplistic to me, but I suspect there is an element of reality there.  You couldn't sail around a huge ocean as a skinny guy and survive long enough to spread your DNA among far-away islanders.

I don't know about feminine beauty, but I know that artists like Gauguin saw the beauty in these women with tree-trunk bodies and legs, and hair that looked like waterfalls.

Yeah there is a fertility mother vibe that some may be attracted to.

But breaking up a marriage where there are two children who know their father is way more traumatic for all involved that being a single mom with one child and a large, supportive family.

So watching "a marriage" where their father...

  • Disrespects every female in/visiting the household
  • Don't worry, kids...you're next
  • Doesn't have a j-o-b
  • Doesn't do his share at home
  • Proclaims he's THE MAN of the house (on the basis nothing but gender and customs of another country)
  • Exposes the extended family to a virus because...
    • "The MAN" basketball in an enclosed gym
      • without a mask
  • Considers all his selfish antics more important than his wife and/or children
  • BLOCKS his wife's calls/texts on his run-aways.
  • E T C

Is "way more traumatic," than being a single mom, etc.

Interesting.
