That is an... interesting choice for cross promotion.  Now

Spoiler

if they had a scene or flashback of Idris Elba's character actually shooting Superman and putting him in a coma, for which he was sent to prison to be recruited to the Suicide Squad, THAT would be awesome cross promotion.

Spoiler for The Suicide Squad movie

The CW Launches New, Nonpartisan Initiative to Support and Protect the Freedom to Vote

August 6, 2021 (Burbank, CA) ─ On the 56th anniversary of the monumental Voting Rights Act of 1965, The CW is launching a new, nonpartisan initiative entitled "Freedom to Vote," to help promote eligible voter protection and remove barriers to voting, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The CW. The effort builds on the network's 2020 "Vote Actually" campaign that helped to encourage millions of young people to be ready to vote and make their voices heard.

The new CW campaign is being developed in partnership with nonpartisan, nonprofit organizations including the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law, dedicated to securing equal justice for all through the rule of law; and Vote.org, the largest voting registration and get-out-the-vote technology platform in America.

Among The CW talent featured in the multiplatform campaign, which kicks off today, include Sam Adegoke ("Dynasty"), Tala Ashe ("DC's Legends of Tomorrow"), Brec Bassinger ("Stargirl"), Coby Bell ("Walker"), Kaylee Bryant ("Legacies"), Melonie Diaz ("Charmed"), Liz Gillies ("Dynasty"), Grant Gustin ("The Flash"), Camrus Johnson ("Batwoman"), Olivia Liang ("Kung Fu"), Nicole Kang ("Batwoman"), Nicole Maines ("Supergirl"), Jeanine Mason ("Roswell, New Mexico"), Perry Mattfeld ("In The Dark"), Kennedy McMann ("Nancy Drew"), Candice Patton ("The Flash"), Danielle Rose Russell ("Legacies"), Azie Tesfai ("Supergirl"), Elizabeth Tulloch ("Superman & Lois"), Anjelika Washington ("DC's Stargirl"), and Karimah Westbrook ("All American"). The new "Freedom to Vote" PSAs -- which encourages viewers to get involved at Vote.org/TheCW -- will be broadcast during the network's primetime line up, across its digital platforms and apps, as well as on its social media outlets.

The 100 Best Shows on TV Right Now

75. Superman & Lois (The CW)
Where to stream:
The CW

When you think of The CW's Arrowverse, you probably don't think about an hour dedicated to a thoughtful and emotional exploration of a woman's grief as she finally grapples with the miscarriage she suffered years before — but that just means you haven't watched Superman & Lois yet. The network's new superhero venture seems to be the most adult series in the bunch. Although steeped in comics lore — how about that John Henry Irons reveal? — especially in the back half of its inaugural season, the series doesn't have much time for camp. Instead, the show sets itself apart by leaning into the grounded, earnest family and small town drama of it all. It's at its best when focusing on the dynamics of a family with not one but (spoiler!) two super-powered members dealing with problems both small and, yes, super. A huge reason for that is the abundance of chemistry between its Clark and Lois, Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch. Not that any of this should be surprising given the series' title; the show was never meant to just be about the Man of Steel fighting bad guys. -Maggie Fremont

Can you please find out if Jon Cryer will be reprising his role as Lex Luthor on Superman & Lois, with Supergirl ending this year? Lex is Superman’s biggest foe, after all. –JT

I delivered your Q to showrunner Todd Helbing, who noted that Lex did get a mention in Episode 7 (as Lois and Clark puzzled over who John Henry Irons could be). As such, Helbing allowed that Cryer someday showing up as the Luthor is “a possibility.”

A little Jon Cryer Luthor went a long way. I kinda hope we're done with him.

Yes, as much as I enjoyed him on Supergirl, his smug arrogance wore thin on me a long time ago. I'd much rather see them address the Kryptonian elephant in the room.

It's funny...I don't think Tyler's Superman and Jon Cryer's Luthor had a single scene together in the Crisis cross-over.

They were in the same room a couple of times but never talked to each other.  Because of course it made total sense for Clark Kent, normal human reporter and definitely not Superman (unlike all the other Clarks), to be present for such important events.  Lex probably thought Lois just treated him like a body man.

Tyler Hoechlin said at Dragon*Con today that the entire reason for no crossovers this year was COVID. Canada was behind the US on test availability, and they didn’t get vaccines until the end of shooting.

Each show had their testing schedule and were aware that a case would shut down a show. (Life was shooting and go home, that was it.) But if they did a crossover and five shows had to shut down, it would have been disastrous.

David Ramsey was the exception because he was a director and was meeting the testing schedules for all the shows, so Diggle got to appear.

Tyler had been looking forward to having Melissa come on because he knew her from before, and said she’s the nicest person. In fact, he was excited for the S&L show because he had met everyone during crossovers, and was really impressed by how great everyone CW hires was.

Apparently S&L had been planning on a Batwoman crossover, pre-COVID, too.

No mention as to whether any Supergirl crossover would have been an alternate universe, Kara has been “elsewhere,” or what.

Interesting concept. I doubt that the winner will be anything but Supernatural or Flash.

Also it seems odd that it does not include Veronica Mars or the Gilmore Girls. Maybe it is just recency bias.

Considering how good looking we know he can be this is a surprisingly derpy picture :-)

I never watched Teen Wolf but the show's fans are geeking out so I assume this is good casting.

Very good casting. On Teen Wolf, Ian Bohen played Tyler Hoechlin's character's uncle and they worked VERY well together, so it's going to be a fun reunion, especially since it's unlikely that Tyler H will be able to do the Teen Wolf movie that's happening.

Jenna Dewan will be appearing in season two as Lois' sister, Lucy Lane.  If that sounds familiar, it's because she actually played Lucy before on Supergirl: way, way back on that show's first season.  Still pretty cool.

Wasnt expecting that. I thought they'd just recast the character if they ever used her.

So since the show is going to acknowledge Lucy's existence, does that mean that we might also get at least a mention of Kara at some point during Season 2? I know Melissa Benoist has said that she'd love to do a crossover if she were presented with a compelling enough story that would do Kara justice.

Let's hope that bit at the beginning is a misdirect - one of the good things about the show is Lois and Clark talking to each other like mature adults rather than keeping everything a secret for no good reason.

On the plus side, it looks like Jon is still going strong with his new girlfriend, although he probably wishes his door had a lock.

This is exactly the whole reason I’m watching this show — an actual healthy marriage between two mature adults, in the midst of the super-powered insanity. The biggest concern I had for the sophomore season was that the writing would become sophomoric and ruin the good thing going with Clark and Lois, in favor of the drama that so many of these shows think will last them several seasons. (They’re wrong. It gets old real quick.)

Jon and Tegan need to have their hook ups at the water tower. Risky to do it in the house.

Gotta admit, not liking this trailer mostly due to the changes in Lois. I despise the trope where someone - in this case Lois - is mad at the world, treats everyone like crap because she's mad at the world, but won't tell anyone why she's mad at the world. Please, just don't.

With this news my hope is that the Warner Bros shows all move to HBO Max. They already have a massive WB catalog and moving the Arrowverse, Riverdale, Roswell, Kung Fu, and Legacies would be an extension of that. I also want the budget increases that would come from such a move.

I'm sure something sucky will happen instead.

I believe Roswell is owned by CBS and with Riverdales Netflix popularity I dont think they can move them to HBO Max. It'd have to finish out a run on netflix.
