Adderall does crazy shit to people. Mixing with alcohol is insane. Jaxass should know better and why is Brittney putting up with that? Stassi said a while ago she quit taking Adderall because it was ruining her relationship with Beau. He pretty much told her she was out of control when she was using it. She has calmed down alot although she still has bitch issues she's not nearly as bad as she used to be.

Yeah adderall and alcohol is a recipe for disaster.  I also am 100% sure Jax is using coke, too.  

I am also 100% sure that Stassi is on the Adderall again.  She has said that she goes off it, and then back on.  She was back on it last I heard and considering what a raging BITCH she has been the last few episodes, I think she is back at it.  Also, she looks skinnier than she was last season...  

Does she think it is funny or cute to be a bridezilla?  I don't want to watch a whole season of her being one.  Enough of the weddings!  I watch this show to see hot assholes hook up and break up!  Not old adderall addicts get married.

What Jax was describing sounds like bipolar but in his case I would guess it’s drug related. People on uppers (cocaine, meth, Adderall, etc.) can often present with the symptoms of bipolar disorder but it’s caused by taking and/or withdrawing from the drugs not a natural chemical imbalance in the brain. I also think in Jax’s case Adderall is code for cocaine, though he could be on both. On top of coke/Adderall I also think he does steroids so roid rage is another a possible explanation for his behavior. He was off the rails trying to pick a fight with everyone all episode.

Exactly - and he's all "what can I do?"  How about get off the drugs, eat normally and see if your problem takes care of itself.  Also I think Scheana was correct that he's on a downslide because after his birthday and wedding (and even since the adding of the boring newbies) it's not all about him and he can't handle it.  He's the #1 guy in this group dammit!!!

This.  Stassi is much like Matthew Perry/Chandler on Friends, when they're incredibly skinny, they're on the drugs.  I've seen her in person and her legs are like twigs.  

Brittany knew what she was getting into with Jax, no sympathy.  Neither of them will age well.

It also reminded me of Kelly from The Office, whenever she was trying to get back with Ryan, or get with another guy.  She would say "You wanted me?" whenever the guy she liked called her as a way to 'subconsciously' make the guy actually want her.  We can laugh at Kelly because she's a fictional character, but on Scheana, it's just too real and cringey.

I was thinking that as well.  I don't know if she decided to just have the chefs at the restaurant and make the food available for delivery by UberEats or something.  I've been having my share of takeout meals during lockdown. 

 

They've probably been sneaking in and out of each other's homes.  They need attention and don't do Inside Stuff very well.  Also can't follow strict orders, restrictions, the law, etc.

She wanted the weddin', but certainly didn't think about the 50+ years afterwards with a sociopathic loser.  I definitely think that they'll have a baby, but being a pessimistic optimist, I'm hoping that their kid/s will realise what terrible people their parents are, and decide to do the opposite.

Not bipolar, it's all drug-induced.  He has zero self-control, and can't even hold himself back for ONE fricking day.  He's simply incapable of it.  After he got his nose done (the first time!), he was told what not to do post surgery, and he ended up doing all of them.  Back when Charlie Sheen was addicted to coke, he did terribly shitty things with no impulse control. 

 

It's been a few months since the wedding, so I hope Brittany has gotten at least one STD test.  I'm not trying to be a sarcastic bitch about it, I'm genuinely concerned.

I've thought this so many times. Brittany dreamt about her wedding, and what a dream day it would be, but I doubt she devoted one brain cell to what the actual marriage would be like, and how much work marriage is. (I know some friends who did this, too. The aftermath wasn't pretty.)

I think Jax is so confused about so many basic things that it’s really sad.  

I definitely think he’s doing coke.  A lot of people say Adderall when they mean coke.  I think Jax is taking both.

But, as someone who used to take a huge (prescribed) does of Adderall a few times a day for years, my experience has been the reverse of Jax’s—and I’ve only ever heard it this way:  you take the Adderall in the morning, by 3 or 4 pm it wears off (if you take an afternoon dose, it wears off at 6) and then the ridiculous low comes where you can get so depressed.

That’s when most people take a Xanax (for me, prescribed) or start drinking, which I also did.  I was never a big pot person, but I would think that would be the time of day that the weed smoking would start.  It’s hard for me to conceive doing it the other way around.  What, he wakes up, sparks up a doobie, eats ice cream, then feels gross and takes “Adderall” 😉 at 2 or 3 pm to wake up?  Man, I thought I was fucked up...

Anyone see the movie 22 Jump Street?  The drug they were after was WHY PHY (pronounced “wifi”) which stood for “work hard? yes, party hard,? yes.”  It started off as Adderall and wound up with the effects of ecstasy.  I think that’s the way most people get fucked up (or get through their day; I’m not judging it).  The stimulant after the depressant or the mellowing agent, or whatever you want to call it, seems very backward.  

I think Jax is confused about his own drug use, the way he’s confused about so many of the other parts of his life.  

I don’t think Jax or Brittany spent any time reflecting on marriage.  I was just watching the season six reunion, and they said they aren’t practicing any contraception, and if Brittany gets pregnant, they’ll just raise the baby (they weren’t even engaged at this point).  They don’t put thought or planning into things, unless it’s for a party.  I also think that might be a warning sign about Brittney’s fertility, because they say if you’re having regular unprotected sex for over a year when you’re under 30 and you’re not pregnant, you should see a doctor.  

I don’t think marriage is hard at all.  I found it much more challenging to be single.  But I have to live consciously.  I have to put another person’s needs basically with my own.  That means, for me, at this point in time, not taking Adderall at work, because then another person is going to have to deal with the emotional fallout that comes in the evening, not just me.  I think Brittany is capable of exerting this type of empathy for Jax (she has so many other problems, and I hate the fucking bitch, but I do think it is easy for her to love, for lack of a better term).  Jax just doesn’t have the capacity to do or feel anything outside of his immediate needs and that is the road paved to hell.  I think what we saw this week is only the tip of the iceberg.  

If James is faking his sobriety, it’s not for me to say, but he seems sober and he seems like he’s becoming more decent.  As Michael Scott from The Office would say, “well, how the turntables have...turned.”  

@heatherchandler, I either think Yaz or Yasmin birth control pills (there are two different brands, and even the doctor gets them confused, so I am totally confused) have a side effect of weight loss as opposed to weight gain.  I used to be on whichever one had that side effect.  I don’t remember if I lost weight, but it didn’t cause me to gain.  And, I totally agree, there is no birth control pill on this planet in 2020 (as opposed to maybe some experimental pill from 1980) that is going to cause Brittany to gain the weight she gained since season five.  

I never saw Kentucky!  I am so mad, because that seems to keep coming up.  I thought it was for extra credit, but it turns out it’s going to be on the final, so that sucks!

When we were in our twenties, a girl friend and I both gained weight around the same time.  We weren’t exactly like Brittany, but we hadn’t missed a meal, and she told me that all the people at her job thought she had a breast enhancement and they would ask her where did she go.  And she told me, “where did I go?  I went to my refrigerator!”  Like, that is the reason people gain weight.  They are eating too much.  I was just watching a season seven episode right before James insults Katie’s weight and Katie does a talking head where she says something like, “Of course I’m not going to have the same body I had in my twenties.” And I dunno.  I don’t really get that mentality.  If you choose to go to the refrigerator and not the gym, then of course you’re not going to be as thin as you were in your twenties, but don’t blame this on nature, girl.  This is about shifting priorities, which is fine.  But I just don’t understand the “of course” of a 32 year old woman not being as thin as she was at 26.  That’s not an automatic, and I think it’s a little dishonest to phrase it that way.  At least Stassi, as bad of a human being as she’s capable or being, has made it crystal clear in the past that she gained weight from eating too much, and that made me like her more.

Thank you for your perspective. I don't have any experience with these drugs so I appreciate your insight.  Was it hard to turn yourself around (if that is even the right thing to say)?  If so, how did you do that?

I want to be quite respectful (and I have a mountain of my own problems) and understand what you are sharing with us.

I mostly want to understand Jax.  Well, no.  I think I want to understand what I'm seeing when I see Jax on my TV.

You’re welcome.  It wasn’t hard for me to turn it around when I was ready.  I think the most important thing I can impart about Adderall that might not be widely known is that a major side effect is euphoria.  It doesn’t kill the appetite the way that the white powdery substance does, it just curbs it.  People love Adderall so much because of the euphoria and the fact that it allows people to stay in control when they drink (unless they just drink a ridiculous amount, which I’m sure Jax does, and then all bets are off).  

It wasn’t hard for me to stop taking Adderall or stop drinking at least a glass of wine every day, because my priorities shifted when I got married, and I realized it wasn’t just about me anymore.  

Before I sound too much like an after school special, I will just say that there was a time when I was in my twenties when I didn’t have health insurance for awhile.  I had just taken the bar and I was working intense hours and I stopped taking Adderall, Xanax and Ambien cold turkey because I couldn’t afford them (as soon as I got insurance, I went back on) and I didn’t skip a beat.  But my doctor back then told me he thought I had an “elephant liver” and I just metabolized things insanely fast, so I am not recommending this for anyone, just making an observation in response to the question of how hard it is to stop taking Adderall.  

I think it is mostly psychological.  I have read on more than one occasion that there is no physical addiction to marijuana, and I never got a physical addiction to Adderall, so it’s mind over matter.  The psychological addiction can be much stronger than the physical addiction, so if Jax isn’t strong in his mind, he’s not going to get anywhere.  

I also think I have a really easy time of giving things up, so I might not be the best example.  I can take or leave almost any activity or substance, except my sweets.  That’s the toughest.  

I realized I didn’t address the central, question, which is what we see when we’re seeing Jax:

• First of all, I think he’s doing a lot of coke, which is like Adderall magnified by 10.  
• When people take Adderall, they feel this sense of well-being and a capability to take on any project, but if you’re not doing anything productive, like studying or cleaning, you might just be pacing and that’s when people get ugly, like Jax, and paranoid, because their mind is working so hard, but it’s not working on any task, so someone can hyper-focus on anything, like his friends’ alleged deception 
• Another side effect is pressured speech and aggression and just a feeling that is subtle or can be stronger depending on how much one takes that one is right and righteous, and I think we’re seeing that.  It’s like self-esteem in a pill.  So that’s probably why he’s acting like such an asshole
• Like I said, in my experience, as good as it feels when it’s circulating through the system is as bad as it can start to feel when it’s wearing off.  It’s like all my serotonin was used up and I’d get really depressed.  That’s why it makes sense that he’d smoke weed to chill out when coming off the Adderall, or coke, or Ritalin, or whatever it is, and not the other way around.  I’ve almost never been in a situation where someone is loving how relaxed they are and they say, “you know what I need right now; I need to concentrate!”  People will take it to stave off a hangover or to sober up.  That’s the only time I’ve seen it taken in the opposite order
• I used to take Xanax and Adderall at the same time during the day, at work or at school (again, both prescribed, so no law-breaking) and I can imagine that is something like a very diminished feeling like the combination of smoking weed and taking Adderall or snorting coke and smoking weed.  The person is not as edgy and jumpy when they do this.  They feel confident and competent, yet relaxed.  Jax isn’t showing the relaxed part, and I doubt it’s because he’s demure about the weed; it’s probably just lots of stimulant

I am not trying to make light of Adderall, I just never took more than prescribed, but I’ve heard stories.  My roommate told me his friend took so much that he got paranoid and just sat in his kitchen holding a knife for an entire night.  I’ve never seen it get that scary, but I can only imagine.  

I guess the only thing I can add that might not be obvious is that, culturally, Adderall is all over the place.  I am a few years younger than Jax and, maybe it was just the circles in which I travelled, but everyone I knew was using Adderall in some capacity at certain junctures in my life and everyone was either functional or highly functional.  The thing that really fucks people up is the alcohol and/or other drugs that they ingest to stave off the side effects of the Adderall.  That’s another reason I think it’s not just some Adderall and some weed with Jax.  He doesn’t consume things like normal people; he does everything to an 11.

Not that this was asked, by I was just thinking that if Jax wants to change, instead of bitching about not living in Mulberry or whatever the hell, he needs to start with a plan of action.  They say nothing changes if nothing changes.  He has a ton of money compared to the average person.  He might have to delay gratification and face the fact that he might get fat like Randall if he doesn’t hit the gym several times a week.  I’m not saying never take it again—I believe in moderation, not abstention for the most part—but save it for special occasions rather than every day.  He doesn’t really have a job.  If he wants to bring kids into this world, I really think he needs to get his shit together.  How can he even contemplate being a good father when he’s raging at his friends like this?

Not exactly lose weight, but the newest pills can help you shift excess water weight and not affect your appetite.  But it's different for each woman (of course! grrr!!) and something like Diane has always made me gain weight, but a couple of my girlfriends are on it and it didn't change anything.  I wish there was BC which would decrease my appetite, clear up my skin and give me more energy.  Anyone who makes BC like that will become very wealthy, because so many women will want it!

A sincere thank you for your entire post.  I only quoted the above to acknowledge you.

I'm 61 and I think I was in school before Adderall was widely prescribed.  Pot was available but I abused No-Doz.  I'm sure coke was around but I didn't travel in those circles (too poor).

I'm hoping that all the roids have made Jax sterile. Which of course would be blamed on Brittany. I don't think she would be a bad mother but I don't want her kids to be subjected to decades of watching their dad gaslight their mum and punch walls. Jax would be a fun dad for an hour a week before he accidently locks the kid in the car in the middle of summer while he goes to the gym. And can sociopathy be a learned behaviour? Because if so that's another strike against Jittany breeding.

Stassi said a couple of episodes back that she took her IUD out (I got behind and am binging to get it over with).  I don't know if an IUD makes you gain, so I don't know if removing it would make you lose.  It was the episode where she went to the gyno.  I think it is possible Beau was wearing one of her hair pieces as bangs during the convo.  They said she'd taken it out and they were not trying for a kid but were not not trying and she was going to the gyno to make sure all her stuff was working.

I just watched this ep.

Brett looks EXACTLY like a llama or alpaca with his silly new 'do. The manufactured "love triangle" story is ridiculous, because both dudes are ridiculous. I kinda feel bad for Dayna for being contractually obligated to pretend to be interested in either of those tools.

Scheana is just the ultimate in cringe.

Jax continues to be a 'roid raging asshole because he's not the center of attention.

Never in a million years did I think I'd be rooting for Kristen.
