Why does everyone on this show say "I'm meeting with" when they're going to see family or meeting friends? "I'm meeting with my friends today" or "I'm meeting with my sister". Who talks like this? "I'm meeting with" sounds so oddly formal. I'd use it in the context of a work thing or an interview, not a social interaction.

I know, like I am meeting with my probation officer.  I am meeting with my child's teacher, I am meeting with my real estate agent, I am meeting with my rabbi, priest, pastor...but it is never I am having lunch with my sister, parents, friends...

It is the same people who want to marry with someone.

I think it's regional. My Cuban friends used "pass by" in these cases. I got used to it.
