Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!

Recommended Posts

(edited)

I'm sure they are rolling in the money now, but will influencers still be a "thing" in ten or twenty years?  I don't know. Probably, but there will be new people by that time.  Additionally, if Tennessee ever decides to change the law to protect child influencers, they will have to set aside funds for the children.  Are they paying into any sort of retirement account or Social Security?  I doubt it. They are living in the moment.

Carlin grew up poor and IMHO, now she's keeping her children on camera because she sees that cameras made her family a lot of money, and she wants to continue to do that with Evan and the kids. The difference is the show didn't film 24/7/365 like they film their family.

I'm not sure what Evan's excuse is other than he is lazy and wants to do things on his own schedule. That would be nice, but it's not the life most of us live.  Even if you have your own business, you have to be responsible to other people.

With Youtube, Instagram, TicToc  and the boutique how much money is flowing in each month?

Between all their income streams, I can easily see them pulling in 20-25k a month. The criticism here isn't so much that they don't have money, but that they they're burning through it at an unsustainable rate. They do get a lot of freebies, but they also have a lot of expenses. Pricey cars, health insurance, mortgage, auto and homeowners insurance, etc., not to mention the little things that add up like daily Starbucks and restaurant meals, Target runs, nails, hair, golf, gas and so on. They don't give off the vibe that they're squirreling anything away for savings and retirement.

Also, given that a large chunk of their livelihood is dependent on followers having disposable income, that might go down the drain now that the tariffs have kicked in. I participate in a finance sub Reddit and everyone is saying how they're limiting shopping and unnecessary expenses. Hopefully the Stews plan accordingly.

Which subReddit is that? I've been looking for a decent financial sub.

I don't think the Stews are making anywhere near that much, though.

I like the Personal Finance and Poverty Finance subs. Even if you're doing okay money-wise, the Poverty Finance has great tips if you're trying to save, stretch your dollars or cut back on spending.

I for sure believe C&E are taking in the big bucks. Influencing alone has so many different streams of income and they all add up. Paid sponsorships, payment for links, passive income from subscription partnerships, and of course all the freebies - from make-up to a trip to Dubai.

And then there's their YouTube income, which could possibly pay for their mortgage and car loans.

IMO, its an unhealthy job that distorts influencers own reality, but an influencer who saves their money, will have a hefty, hefty cushion to survive on when they are no longer relevant.

It seems to me C&E spend money like they'll forever have this kind of income.

i took a look at Shein's dresses there are hundreds on the website. They start around $9.99 and the most expenisve one that i saw was $31.99.  There are lots of white sun dresses and babydoll dresses. I didn't see this exact one.

Actually this white sundress is cute. The main drawback is the price. It's way overpriced. Nothing immodest about it if worn to appropriate places and events. e But this crew will probably be sporting it on Easter Sunday at church even if the temperature if 50 degrees

The problem with that slope is that it makes 1/3 of their yard semi-useless. I say semi because for the kids having a little hill to climb up on and roll down on is probably fun. It does somewhat explain why all their yard furniture and fixtures seem so crammed together.

I would think this feature of the yard would be reflected in the price of the house (i.e. make it lower than a similar house on a flat lot.)

Interesting points.  Their neighborhood/subdivision might be hilly.  Ours is.  The hills and such don't reflect prices.  Basements and size do. Some houses have basements and some have flat lots or small lots.  Of course we don't live where they live.  Could be they are just stupid (duh) and don't think ahead, or it really doesn't matter to them.

We live in a hilly city, but our particular subdivision is relatively flat. One of my sisters a few miles away basically has zero backyard due to a steep drop off. When we were house hunting, slope didn’t impact price, but it did impact desirability. Mr A loves to garden, so he wanted flat (or close to it). Some don’t care. Some do. I could see a realtor encouraging someone with a “bad” yard to cut a little off the price if it’s not moving.

Stupid and failure to think ahead? Nail on the head, there.

Mr A isn’t dumb, but last time we were house shopping, he started talking about a house with a pool — until I started talking about upkeep, liability and resale. A pool is a plus for some people, but it can also make it more difficult to sell.

Agree. Not everybody likes the same things. I'm sitting in my porch and our front yard slopes down a little. We are on a hill. It wasn't a distractor for us. Of course other people want flat. Before we moved here we redid our kitchen (not thinking we would move). The realtor said at that time that granite wouldn't increase the asking price but might make it sell faster.  We all aren't alike in what we want to live with. So their hilly backyard maybe doesn't sit right with some but apparently they like it well enough. And I agree they are insipid twats

Just shows what classless hillbillies they are. If they are making 250-300k/yr, great. That's doctor or lawyer money - generally speaking - I know they can make more or less depending on specialty and location. Notice how drs. or lawyers work their whole careers? Making 250k-300k isn't holy $hit we can go crazy and live as big as possible and never work again money. It is wow this is great - invest for retirement, put more $ into the mortgage to pay it off, get the kids college funds in good shape - money. That's the type of money where you start thinking about how to keep it going + generate more wealth from that capital, while also planning for the future.

I must be in a bad mood but I am hoping tariffs and other economic disasters befalling the average person right now hit them like a mac truck.

Well, they obviously don't have any money put away, so market fluctuations won't affect them. They'll just jack up prices at the boutique (already confirmed) and go on their merry way. Someone is still buying their crap.

"Six years ago, we didn't have children to exploit and work for us, so we couldn't afford to go to Hawaii." I'm glad they took Zade and Layla since they worked hard for this trip.

They have gone on more vacations in the last year than I have in the last ten years, and yes, I'm jealous.  But I don't have children to sell, so I have to work at a public job with a boss I have to report to.

I wonder if they are deleting the not-so-positive comments because in my brief review, I only saw one negative comment.  The rest were praising them.

It sounds like they went to Hawaii for a few days, then Evan’s parents are going to join them for a few more. (I think it’s just his parents but it could be the whole family. Carlin did mention that they were paying for the trip so that could add up if it’s everyone. But they apparently have a bottomless pit of money so….

Carlin also said she surprised them with the trip, and I wonder how they felt about that? Evan's parents aren't spring chickens, and speaking for myself at 46, my days of flying by the seat of my pants are loooooong gone. I wouldn't want to be told last minute I'm about to fly 10 hours to Hawaii and have to get vacation essentials ready on a moment's notice.

Hopefully when Carlin said "surprised" she meant she told them when they booked the trip, and not when they were headed to Nashville.

I wonder if their motives are that the grandparents can manage the children and give them time to stage their videos.  I know we have traveled with our grands and their parents.  We are no "spring chickens" but are usually game for most things.  One only lives once and if opportunities arise, we take them.  These two are twits and I don't think any amount of "talking to" by reasonable parents is going to change that.  The parents could also "Just Say No".  I like to remember that everything with them is mostly fake for the cameras so we don't know what kind of planning or not or agreement or not went on behind the scenes before Evan's superior editing skills just wowed us!! 🤣

PS Maybe the parents there will help prevent one of the kids stepping back "just a little more" and falling into a volcano or off a cliff, just to get that shot.

So much for Zade's speech therapy. Carlin posted a reel of the kids at an aquarium and Zade is still saying "Me want..." and "Me love..." while Carlin giggles and does nothing to correct him. She even used one of his grammatically incorrect phrases to caption the post. And of course her groupies are lapping it up, saying how cute Zade is. I guess stunting your child's development to keep your fans happy is worth it for all the $$$ it brings in. 🙄
