Count me among those who knew Andre from Princess Bride! I think I knew of him prior to that movie (my brother occasionally watched professional wrestling), but I don't know that I would have recognized him. I knew Drax from the movies, too, but couldn't get past luchadores to Lucha Libre for anything. The rest of the WWE clues were hopeless for me.

Milestone Moments: All The Celebrity Vitals

4/5 this week.

Instaget FJ for me tonight. Then I mentally rotated the "v" in other directions just to check myself, and stuck with my original answer. Can we count Thor Heyerdahl as a TS? It wasn't exactly, although I did shout it out before the guy flubbed his response. I got the real TS of Tony Hillerman, hobnob, and Lookout Mountain, though. I admit, I was rooting for anyone except Tamara. Her over exaggerated sighs were too much, and I believe they were the reason the boards weren't cleared. Good on her for hanging in there and all, but dude. Settle down.

Yes. The lightning port on the phone is the same. The other end of the new charging cord is different -- it's a tiny USB-C connection, so you need a different brick. The bricks don't come with the phones anymore, but the cords do. Or they did when I got my 13. But you can use the old cord and brick with your new phone.

Not quite an instaget FJ tonight, but I did get it in time to write it down -- after discarding the shark from Jaws. Not sure sexy is an apt description for it! I also got the TS of dilithium, feng shui, francium, and atmosphere.
-
I use the old ones too, and everything charges fast enough for me. I have too many old bricks, plus all the plug adapters for traveling that have the old type USB ports that I'm not in any hurry to change. Plus my car has the old type. I'm not actually sure where the USB-C cord is that came with my iPhone 13.

For FJ, I said, "Oh it's the guy who wrote Catch-22! Um, um, um, Heller!!!" Just in the nick of time to write it down. Go, me! Very stupid DD wager by middle girl. She could have had a runaway. I only got two TS: spider and Blue Ridge Mountains. And I can't believe I missed Valentina Tereshkova AGAIN.

It has been my experience that there are plenty of willing men to help you learn!

Aww, I was rooting for the woman in the Michael Jackson jacket! But I didn't get FJ, either. I did, however, get the TS of Denali, Harlan Ellison, Richard Bachman, and nucleotide.

Please don't feed Mo raisins. Raisins and grapes can cause kidney failure in dogs.

I love everyone's funeral dresses, especially Abishola's. -
Surprisingly, I guessed FJ correctly! I pretty much just picked something west in Africa, and lucked out that it was the correct place. No TS for me, though.

Like: longer days, reasonable temperatures, wildflowers blooming, and the return of the summer birds (the "dawn chorus" of birds singing brings me great joy!) Don't like: Wild fluctuations and variations in temperature and weather -- snow one day and 70 degrees the next! -- wind, so much wind, mowing the grass.

Did Cashmere and Gloss win back to back? They might not have been as aware of the consequences if their games were close together. Plus, I would think the capitol would keep quiet about any consequences for career tributes -- if everyone knew it wasn't all roses (heh) and sunshine after the games, the career training schools would die out pretty quickly. They'd been doing this for 73 years by the time the first book opened. My thought process on the volunteer/career group is that of all the potential volunteers, the boy and girl with the most potential of their age group is selected to volunteer and maybe given extra training or food or whatever, and instructed to volunteer. The rest are instructed to keep quiet. Sort of like pre-selecting who would try out for an Olympic team of one. It wouldn't surprise me none of the Quells were actually pre-determined, but I'd guarantee that 75 was not.

"Battleship Earth" was pretty bad.

It's been a while since I read the books, but I thought Cashmere and Gloss were originally careers? Who knows why they were reaped the second time. Of course Snow and Plutarch came up with the Quarter Quell on the fly -- it might be interesting to find out what the original Quarter Quell was meant to be.

I saw the piece on Groban and Sweeney on CBS Sunday Morning today, and it has me leaning towards a train trip to NY! He does have a voice.

Oh! I forgot that Raiders was an asterisk! I amend my earlier post to 3/5 with an asterisk.

3/5 this week.

No idea for FJ today -- I said Oklahoma for no reason whatsoever, except that it's a fun song to sing. As for TS, I only got pinnate and leeward. It's just weird to watch at an unusual (for me) time, I guess. Yeah, that's the ticket....

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Browncoat replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
I still use paper coupons, but I only take the ones I’m using with me to the store, and I have them at the ready when I check out. It doesn’t take any longer to scan those than it does to scan another item or two. And I’m sorry to tell you that if I’m buying gift cards, I’ll write a check — which I write beforehand so all I have to do is hand it over. I suppose the bad part there is that I get my groceries in a separate order from the gift card. The only time I feel like I’m holding up the line is when I make a work-related purchase. Those are tax-exempt, so I have to fill out some paperwork at the store. Sometimes it takes the cashier a couple of minutes to find the form, and of course it takes me a couple of minutes to fill it out. Still, it doesn’t take any longer than when someone has a giant cart piled high with groceries! -
I’m not crazy about the casting, but it’s got to be better than the travesty that was the Johnny Depp version, right? I’ll check out that link later, when I’m at work.

It took me a bit to get FJ, but I did -- action movie set in the 30s, yep. I love that movie. I also got the TS of Hammett, Padre Island, and R. I was shocked no one came up with R -- I don't watch baseball, and I knew it immediately! I have no idea what they were thinking with the letters they came up with.
