4/5 this week!
-
I had to logic my way to FJ, first thinking about cities with two baseball teams, and then "young" led me to the correct response. And I got the TS/missed DD of Birmingham, Veronica Mars, Betty White (sad that she was a TS!), Gypsy Rose Lee, and eohippus.

I eat plain Cheerios (with milk) almost every morning for breakfast. I still love all the sugary cereals from my childhood, too -- the ones that used to have "sugar" in their names, like Frosted Flakes and Corn Pops. And if I want to destroy the roof of my mouth, I'll get a box of Cap'n Crunch. Rice Krispies, though, are only good when mixed with molten marshmallows. Otherwise, they're like eating air.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Browncoat replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
I guess I'm the exception that proves the rule. I don't eat a lot of red meat, though I'm not a vegetarian by any stretch, and I haven't had a caffeinated beverage in decades. I mostly drink water and occasionally a non-caffeinated beverage like Sprite. I've had hot flashes for the past four years, and I can't detect any pattern or connection to diet or anything. I just randomly burst into flames at irregular intervals throughout the day and night. -
I went to Hudson Bay first, too, but then decided it probably isn't that shallow, and thought about shallow and formed during the Ice Age, which led me to the Bering Strait. I have a vague recollection of learning that the glaciers wore away the land bridge? I don't know -- it made sense in my head! However I got there, I did write it down in plenty of time. I also got the TS of Willie Mays (total guess), New Zealand, Germany, and dome car. I was almost at Elizabeth I, but didn't quite get it out before Mayim said it. There was another one I almost had, but I don't even remember what it was now.

It likely depends on the community college, too! -

Still a stigma, but it's getting better. -
Instaget FJ for me tonight. And I believe it was longer ago than 2023, since I am sure I heard about it more than four months ago. I thought it was hilarious at the time, and I still do. I also got the TS of Elizabeth Bennett, tailhook, Clarence Clemons, and sluice box.

I don't understand how this works. These same six people are going to play all the games? In various combinations? Sounds exhausting.

Family Ties: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
Browncoat replied to DeLurker's topic in Everything Else
My mother started texting in her late 70s, so it's not out of the realm of possibility. She liked it better for a lot of things, but for longer conversations, she'd always call. -
Catching up on last night's game via the archive today. FJ was an instaget, though like some others, I couldn't decide whether to say pertussis or whooping cough. I was glad to see that either was acceptable. I also got the TS of Robert De Niro, Republic, Adam's Rib, and Zurich. I should have gotten Tasmanian Devil, and might have done if I'd watched the show instead of read the clues.

Mine with the bad carburetor was a Chevy! The VW could be started with a screwdriver to short out over the solenoid in the starter.

You would think so, but it didn’t help that car for very long. That car was fine for a year or so before that issue cropped up, too.

I love those Chewy commercials, but I wish they would run the peanut butter box one more! I haven't seen it in ages, and it's my favorite.

My first car was a 1974 VW Beetle. The radio didn't automatically turn off when you turned off the car, so if you parked where there was no radio signal (aka the parking lot behind my college housing), couldn't hear the radio, and forgot to turn it off, your battery would die. I only forgot once! That car had some issues. It was great for short jaunts around town, but a longer trip on the interstate would burn out the starter motor. No idea why. I got a different car when I went to grad school. It had a sketchy carburetor. Fortunately, it was an automatic, because if you took your foot off the gas, it would die. No one who looked at it could figure out that problem, either. I traded that one in for the 1989 Corolla, which was a great car. I was sad when that one finally gave out on me.

I am not certain I knew that Gulliver had a first name, much less what that name was. I did not get FJ tonight! I did get the TS of pogo, George VI, The Wonder Years, rhizomes, viola, and St. Maarten.

There is snow in our forecast for Wednesday! Just flurries, but still. I am not pleased!

We're meant to be about 15-20 degrees cooler than normal for the next couple of days, plus gusty winds. It has rained the better part of the day today, too. I'm ready to put my winter clothes away!

I hate the separate tub and shower situation because it usually means the tub and shower are tiny. Not enough room to stretch out in the tub, and barely enough room to turn around in the shower. More modern builds fix that problem, but older builds and renovations are ridiculous on space. I always look for towel racks, too. I'd prefer not to have to make my way halfway across the room to get a damn towel.

Nah, it has the whole interracial thing going, y'know. Groups like Moms for "Liberty" are so hypocritical. Liberty for whom?

At my undergraduate university, we pretty much had the set up depicted in this show. You went into the cafeteria, got your little cardboard card punched (we got a new card every so often -- I don't remember if it was weekly or monthly), grabbed a plastic tray and went through the line. If it was a special night, like the infrequent "steak" night, you also got a ticket for "steak". It was a piece of beef, but steak, it was not. And, if there was nothing in the line that appealed to you, as frequently happened with my roommate, who was a vegetarian (because somehow, fish was a vegetable?), there was the cereal bar and fixings for PB&J or PB&H type sandwiches. Where I work now, there is, sadly, no food option other than vending machines or going off-campus. But we are a non-residential college. Everyone commutes.

Be careful what you wish for!

I probably won't get to see it this weekend, either, but I definitely will see it!

3/5 this week. I think I got two asterisks, but I'm not sure. One for tonight, definitely. Was Tuesday an asterisk? If so, I got that one, as well.
