  1. When I was in 8th grade in 1977, everyone was required to have at least one six-week grading period in wood shop, home ec (sewing and cooking -- we made pillows for sewing, and I really can't remember what we cooked), typing, and shorthand, plus two in PE. But clubs and sports were still divided by gender until some of us made a stink about it and variously joined "boys" clubs and sports teams -- notably baseball and golf. We had no equivalent of those for girls.
  2. I just saw that stupid "heart like a truck" commercial, which reminded me that I got that TS. No idea which game (or even which night) it was, though, and I got it entirely because of that stupid commercial.
  3. I finally caught up! I am enjoying the banter between Ken and the contestants, although James is as insufferable as always. I did appreciate that he went over to Matt at the end, but there's just something about him that bugs me. I, too, am rooting for Amy and the Professor.
  4. Perhaps if Sheldon's not there demanding all the attention, Missy will actually get some attention. Or maybe she hopes that would be the case.
  5. Abby and Rand are fine together. But Abby is choosing New York the city over upstate with Rand. Rand is choosing upstate over New York the city with Abby. But I do hope they do not put Neil with Abby. I guess Dan took and passed the Bar in Louisiana? I don't remember -- did he go to law school there or in New York? ROZ!!!!!!!
  6. Captain Cook kept me from a perfect week — 4/5 this week, with the asterisk!
  7. Sadly, I did not get FJ tonight. I completely blanked. I did, however, get several TS, including infantry, Allen Ludden, Richard Dawson, Blade, Barcelona, down by the riverside, and sheaves.
  8. I have had the same problem, and if the sender has a postage-paid envelope, I stuff everything back in, write "Deceased" on the money-grubbing card, and send it back. One of my friends suggested affixing the envelope to a box and filling the box with stuff. I haven't gotten to that point yet, but most of the mailings have stopped.
  9. I despaired when I saw the category for FJ -- history is most definitely not my strong suit. And I just took a shot in the dark and guessed, and was again surprised to be correct! I also got the TS of Polynesian, William Styron, Kennebunkport, absolution, and Meghan Markle.
  10. Same, as I am now three days behind on the Masters tournament. I hope to catch up this weekend.
  11. I totally guessed for FJ, and thought it was a wild-assed guess, but was gobsmacked to see it was correct! Yay, asterisk! And speaking of WAGs, Hannah's competitors had some doozies. Juneteenth in February? Okay.... And so many TS! I got butterfly, arsenic, customs, Secret Garden, flamingo, and Lady Chatterly's Lover.
  12. That was a nice advertisement for "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" and also "Everything Everywhere All At Once." (Mark's speech was predictable, but it did get me, too.)
  13. Damn. It's hard enough to find something else to watch/do while Survivor is just an hour. And while I am glad TAR is expanding, I have to get up early on Thursdays to go to work! 11 is late for me!
  14. I didn't break 100 pounds until I was in grad school ( I'm 5'4") and I have long limbs for my height. I usually compare myself to a spider -- little round body and long arms and legs. Of course, I only have the four limbs, not eight... When I was a freshman in college, the RA in my dorm sat down with me and asked, "Are you anorexic?" I actually had the presence of mind to reply, "No, but if I were, do you really think I'd answer that question honestly?" 🙄
  15. I came in second in a spelling bee when I was about nine because of the prevalence of that misspelling! Well, and because I didn't stop to think about it and blurted out the wrong thing.
  16. I watched this last night, and had a blast! It was so much fun. Parts were a little out there, but it was a great ride.
  17. I am tired of people confusing "cue" and "queue", and even worse, spelling either one "que", which just makes me say, "What?"
  18. Instaget FJ for me for Tuesday's game. I love Jamie Lee Curtis, although I have never and will never see those movies. I don't like scary movies! The only missed clues that I got were influenza and Suez.
  19. Those of you who eschew consuming animal products, please take a vitamin supplement for B12 (or eat a fortified cereal). B12 is one of the essential nutrients that is only found naturally in animal products. I almost never eat pork, rarely eat beef, but eat poultry and seafood fairly often. I also have several meals per week that are vegetarian. I couldn't be a vegan. There are too many foods I simply don't like for me to eliminate entire categories!
  20. Same, and I got there in plenty of time to write it down. Absolutely! And was totally disappointed that the contestant didn't answer that way! I only got three TS -- Utah, Mommies, and trailer.
  21. I was a little confused by that one, too, but I figured I had just missed something along the way -- perhaps something in the extended universe? I was glad, though, that they addressed why he never went back to Earth, since he clearly had the ability to do so.
  22. Oh, I’m sure there isn’t. They just reminded me of the other ones.
  23. I watched this this afternoon, and man, it got really dusty in my theater on several occasions. Rocket's near-death, the actual deaths of Lylla, Teefs, and Floor, Rocket's vision of them, and the vision of Yondu. The vision of Yondu almost got me more than any other. I loved that Kraglin finally learned to control the arrow. The fight in the hallway was great -- right up there with Rocket an Yondu slo-mo walking along, wreaking havoc on the Ravagers (and Taser Face). I did laugh at the HE correcting Rocket's pronunciation of "can't" -- it reminded me of a similar scene in "Singin' In The Rain." The beasts that Mantis, Drax, and Nebula saved/rode reminded me of the ones Han Solo was transporting in "The Force Awakens." Were those meant to be homages? I think there were a couple of other things that reminded me of other movies as well, but I don't remember what they were off the top of my head. Oh, of course "Toy Story" with animals instead of toys. I also loved the photos/illustrations during the credits. Cosmo is a very good dog, Rocket learns that he actually is a raccoon, and Groot loves all of them.
  24. Agreed. You don't have to eat healthy just because you're an adult. You can still put ketchup on your spaghetti if that's what you like.
