Augh! The local affiliate cut to commercial just after Katherine missed pituitary! I had to look at the archive for the last few clues. The show came back just in time to hear Ken read the clue for FJ. I was glad he reiterated the category. FJ was an instaget for me, and I'm gobsmacked that none of the contestants knew it. Plymouth Rock was an interesting guess. I also got the TS of Babe Ruth, William Holden, martyrs, Out of Africa, and pituitary. I haaaaaated Eric's outfit.

A restaurant coupled with the B&B is absolutely do-able. Google The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia. Granted, that restaurant is Michelin-starred, and the hotel part is a five-star, but it didn't start out that way.

Sadly, I did not get FJ tonight. It was one that I could have sat here for a week and not come up with it. The only TS I got were Lady of the Lake, boater, sour grapes, Keats, and buttery. I thought about celery, but didn't say it out loud, so I don't count it.

Or Pink Squirrels.

I actually laughed out loud at that. Is it wrong that I wanted another "Jailhouse Rock" tag?

I said Marx, but I knew it was wrong. I knew it had to be something studio related, but Warner just would not come to my brain. But I did get the TS of Poland, Black Hole of Calcutta, Ankara, Robin Williams, Carol Burnett, and javelina.

Hardly anyone takes traveller's cheques anymore, and there are lots of places that won't take American Express cards. There are a number of reasonable cards that don't charge a foreign transaction fee -- some of them don't even charge an annual fee. -
I also got FJ for Tuesday's show, making the Hawaii connection. I can't believe two of them guessed MASH -- it was not a drama! The clue specified long-running drama! Also, this was another fine example of why the player in 3rd place should have bet zero. I only got two TS, though -- Joyce Kilmer and filet knife.

A community college is typically a two-year college that confers an Associate's Degree (instead of a Bachelor's or higher) in a variety of areas, including science, biotechnology, engineering, agriculture, English, and a host of others. It can be a relatively inexpensive stepping stone to a four-year college or university, or to any number of health-care-related professions, or some of those Associates degrees can lead directly to employment. It also generally offers courses/training in trades, such as plumbing, welding, and HVAC. The one where I work has classes for different types of driving licenses, such as motorcycle and CDL for long-haul truck drivers. -
I got FJ, but only just. I really had to think about it -- first to realize we're looking for north/south, then to figure out what's north and south of Denver, then figure out the capitals! I got Cheyenne right away after that, then waffled between Salt Lake City and Santa Fe before flipping the mental coin and landing on Santa Fe with a barely legible scribble as the final notes of the think music played. I also got the TS of pawn & knight, Stratego, Strawberry Fields Forever, She Loves You, and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window. I didn't get any of the second round TS. The long way around, I guess?

I never understood why Margaret and her friends wanted to get their periods. Neither my friends nor I wanted it or the hassle that came with it. Not to mention cramps! Ugh.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar

The same way we got nucular for nuclear, relator for realtor, and jewlery for jewelry. -
I just finished "Legends & Lattes" by Travis Baldree. It was an enjoyable tale about an orc named Viv, who has decided she no longer wants to be a warrior and wants to open a coffee shop.

3/5 this week, with one asterisk for Wednesday.

Instaguess FJ for me tonight, and I have The Mandalorian to thank for it! It was a guess, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was correct. I also got the TS of shelve twelve, diacritical mark, neophytes, cricket, Nicholas Nickleby, and miles/second.

Cover letters are required for jobs I've hired for (and applied for!), and I have read every single one I've received. They make a difference to me -- if someone claims they pay attention to detail and have multiple errors in their cover letters, for example, I'm much less likely to move them forward. I do hate writing them, though.- 5.3k replies

I had absolutely no idea whatsoever for FJ tonight. I've never heard of the novel or the author, so there was no possibility of getting it right. The only TS I got were Hawaiian Air and draco.
