  1. Another decade, another list. The BFI opened up the list of people polled, and it really bears it out in the results. I was delighted to see Get Out, Moonlight, Spirited Away, and Do The Right Thing make the list, and also to see Mulholland Drive jump so dramatically from the 2012 list.

  2. NYFCC list came out yesterday. Ke Huy Quan, Keke Palmer, and Marcel the Shell With Shoes On are exactly my picks. I have not yet seen Tár, so Michelle Yeoh is my Best Actress pick at present.
  3. Annie Lennox and Rob Halford had the best speeches, and I loved seeing both of them singing "Jolene."

    Bros (2022)

The bisexual "Christmas With Either" is the one that got me.
  5. Yes. I was trying to make allowances for it being a pulpy throwback, but the alliteration is too much.
  6. It could hardly be worse.
  7. There was already a (nominal) prequel called Easy Rider: The Ride Back about ten years ago. It involved no one involved in the original production, but did license the name and characters. It was bad enough to be featured on How Did This Get Made. No matter how bad the reboot is going to be, it's still better than that.
  8. Time for another reboot.
  9. Although can we just make Mantis the star of Volume 3?
  10. I'm just damned impressed that they got Ronny Cox back for about five lines as Jellico.
  11. I definitely didn't love the show, but given that I ended up binging it despite not having much more than a morbid (so to speak) curiosity says they were doing something right. Mostly, that was Jenny Ortega. And really, all of the kids, especially Enid. I like Catherine Zeta-Jones a lot, and while she physically made a great Morticia, the performance just didn't work for me. I'd put a lot of that on the writing, and look, no one is ever going to measure up against Carolyn Jones or Angelica Huston, but she didn't really seem to understand who Morticia is. I was also a little surprised that they kept the movie's backstory that Fester was Gomez's brother, since originally he was Morticia's uncle.
  12. I'm up to episode 4 and enjoying it, although I agree that there's not much here that seems like the Addams Family, although Jenny Ortega is great. For the love of God, if you're going to have Christina Ricci in your cast, SHE should be Morticia.
  13. I straight-up cried at that one.
  14. "We know we're not Star-Flight, but you don't need a real ship to believe in what it stands for." Thesis of the series and really the entire franchise right there.
  15. What a great episode all the way around. Live logs and prosper, everyone.
  16. I'm a little disheartened to discover that there were enough fans accusing Kit Connor of queerbaiting that he felt compelled to come out as bi. I mean, good for him being honest, but no one should be demanding a celebrity be out before they're ready.
  17. While Slott did add the bit about the comics being legal documents because of their being published under the CCA, he didn't invent the idea that Marvel Comics were published in the Marvel Universe.

    The Star Wars Saga

Because he doesn't have that great of a hit-to-miss ratio, at least in Live Action.
  19. I wish Marvel and DC fans could behave more like Marvel and DC creatives. You know, they play softball against each other (or did, before DC moved its offices to Burbank) and attend each other's movie premieres. They don't spend all day and night sniping at each other on social media.
  20. I had a ridiculously hard time stopping myself from cheering audibly when all the other Cali-class ships showed up. And T'Lyn. FINALLY.
  21. Noel Clarke was accused of sexual harassment by twenty different women. I can't imagine they'd have wanted him.
  22. Shudder is running a wonderful documentary series called Queer for Fear, which details exactly what it sounds like, the history of queer topics and coding in horror films. I highly recommend it.

    Disney Films

    Hope they invited Howard Ashman.
  24. I know this was written before Nichelle Nichols died, but man, hearing Sulu talking about losing his friends just hit hard.
