  1. COVID vaccines are well outside the scope of this show. Let's circle back to topic, please.
  2. I loved every single thing about that. That's it. That's the post.
  3. “The thing’s gotta have a tailpipe.”
  4. Alandra did mention "Hangar 12," although what was in there wasn't disclosed.
  5. I’m not even going to pretend like hearing snippets of the DS9, TOS and VOY themes as we swept across the Defiant, Enterprise-A and Voyager didn’t catch in my throat. Especially hearing Seven talk about her time on the latter. Also, in an INCREDIBLY deep pull from the beta-canon, there’s a shot, not lingering, of what appears to be the refit, Columbia-class NX-01.
  6. I enjoy watching "bad" movies, after a fashion. And it's not because I'm some kind of masochist, I find trying to figure out the thought process that makes someone direct The Room to be utterly fascinating. There is an absolutely terrible, zero-budget queer movie from about 2001 called Ben & Arthur that is so inept (Birdemic-level inept) it loops out of merely "bad" and becomes something else entirely.
  7. And it was arguably even worse behind the camera.
  8. I mean, we’ve seen Vulcan terrorists before, so I don’t think a mafioso who logicced a justification is too far-fetched.
  9. I'd be willing to put good money that Michelle Forbes only agreed to appear if Ro was killed off. Do I wish it was different? Yes. Am I grateful that she got closure on her story and went out like a badass? Also yes. I was also really happy that she got equal billing with the other TNG actors.
  10. So, Krinn's chip that defeated the AI at Daystrom Station is totally Moriarty, right?
  11. The Bajoran makeup got toned down over the course of DS9, and I think that had already started when "Preemptive Strike" was filmed, because if you look at stills from that episode, she's missing the ridges on the eyebrows that were so prominent on the first version. So it is actually consistent with that.
  12. When the Great Link punished Odo by turning him into a solid, Bashir was seemingly shocked that he had lungs.
  13. I’ve been waiting for that scene between Picard and Ro for 29 years. I’m a little bummed that they killed her off, but I think she got a satisfactory ending, all things being equal. And I loved using her earring as the way of passing the information to him. Both a good symbol, and practical. I think it looked more like Kira’s than the one Ro wore, but I’ll let that slide. We also already have an inkling of what’s going on with Chakotay because of Prodigy. And I believe that show currently has dominion (so to speak) over both Janeway and he, so I doubt using him would be possible, even if that had made sense from a story perspective.
  14. Michelle Forbes kicks ass. That’s the post.
  15. This gripping docuseries follows New York City's frontline medical professionals as they balance the intensity of their work with their personal lives.
  16. Seeing someone as over it as Harrison Ford seemingly so legitimately happy made my night. Definitely worth staying up late for. Aside from Marcel the Shell With Shoes On being passed over as Best Animated feature, this is was one of the most satisfying ceremonies in a long, long time.
  17. I think Beverly would have noticed if he had to regenerate every 16 hours.
  18. Wow, what a night. I don’t think I’ve been this pleased with the winners in a single ceremony since Return of the King had its sweep. My one quibble was Pinocchio winning of Marcel the Shell, but considering that had the latter won, A24 would have gotten every single major category, and I can see wanting to spread the love around a little.
  19. I’m saying this with complete sincerity: That was the best performance I’ve ever seen Jonathan Frakes give.
  20. I’m a child psychiatrist, and the area I work in has a very high percentage of children of immigrants from all over the world. Almost without exception, the kids speak English with standard mid-Atlantic accents even if they’re speaking another language at home.
  21. I think it’s also worth noting that we know that human lifespans are longer by the 25th century. Gates is in her early 70s now, which would have put her in her early 50s around Nemesis, presumably when Jack was conceived. If the average human lifespan is about 150 (I think they’ve alluded to that before), it doesn’t seem unreasonable that a woman who’s only about a third of the way through a natural lifespan would still have her fertility preserved. Also, I heard some folks mention the time spent on the Baku planet, which might have revved things up. I’m not saying it’s a perfect solution, but it’s at least within the realm of possibility.
  22. We’ve already seen birth control fail in the 24th century.
  23. I don’t know if incompletely buy the logic, but when she became a mother to Jack, she’d also lost Wesley by that point. Granted, he was off on higher planes of existence and all, but it wasn’t like he was just off backpacking around the Beta Quadrant.
  24. I will say it was a bit odd that the Changeling was played by Thomas Dekker, who was one of Picard’s Nexus children in Generations in the same episode where we’re confirmed that he has a son played by a different actor.
