  1. I like her a lot too, and it's definitely fun to see her do something dramatic. But then you've got an American actress cast as Christie's authorial avatar. She doesn't seem to be doing an accent, so she's not playing British.
  2. I unexpectedly loved Death on the Nile, so I’m definitely onboard with this, at least conditionally. But it’s weird that they turned one of Christie’s country-house murders (Hallowe’en Party, in this case) into a travelogue one. I approve of them adapting one of her lesser-known books, but if they wanted big set pieces and exotic locales, I don’t know why this over Death in the Clouds or Murder in Mesopotamia.
  3. Wait, Tina Fey is playing Ariadne Oliver? Are they making her an American?
  4. I'm sold. Her pulling off "Poor Unfortunate Souls" (speaking of genius lyrics...) is still an unknown, but I'm confident she's not just here for a paycheck.
  5. Anyone tells you Howard Ashman wasn't a genius, just point them towards these lyrics.
  6. I’ve actually liked or loved most of their remakes. No, they’re completely unnecessary and didn’t improve on the originals, but they’re all well-made. And Aladdin is almost as good as its counterpart. And I say that as someone who was not a huge fan of Will Smith, even before the Slap.
  7. Does actually add another layer onto Vadic killing T'Veen and not Esmar.
  8. Marina is no longer on Twitter, which was her main outlet for promoting things/herself.
  9. I wish they'd put that cover of "Such Great Heights" on Spotify. It's great.
  10. It's for Doug Drexler, who worked in the art department from TNG all the way up to now, most notably designing the NX-01. Quite a few of the ships were named after their visual effects guys. This is Geoffrey Mandel. The USS Hikaru Sulu was also joined by (presumably a sister ship) the USS Uhura.
  11. No. Production order was very different. “The Man Trap” was the first episode to be aired, and it was the sixth episode to be produced. “Charlie X” was next, and that was filmed eighth. They didn’t get to the second pilot until the third week.

    The Star Wars Saga

As they continue to fold in bits of the old Legends extended canon into the current one, I keep holding out hope for Mara Jade at some point.
  13. The more I think about this, the more I like it. When it was first announced, I was actually annoyed, because it seemed like they had so little faith in Carol that she couldn't even headline her own sequel. I don't know if this is "better" per se than a solo movie, but it looks like a hell of a lot of fun. I don't really understand the comments about it looking like a D+ series. I liked She-Hulk a lot, but I can acknowledge how shoddy the CGI on that was. This is so much better than that, and it's likely these aren't the final renders anyway. This may be as close to an A-Force movie as we get, and that also excites me. "Teaming up changes everythingone."
  14. We saw that was a thing as far back as the second episode of TNG.
  15. The inference, I think was that with the latest round of upgrades, the Changelings had sneaked the genetic code into the transporters. So this is maybe over the course of the last few years, not going back to "Best of Both Worlds" times. Also, Janeway was likely on the al Batani when Wolf 359 happened, so she'd have been too old.
  16. I wish the IMAX screening in NYC wasn't sold out. I totally cried. Even if I had expected it (which, by the time they were escaping I was), it still hit me so hard in the feels. And people had been complaining that they replaced Majel Barrett as the computer voice even though they'd digitized enough to continue to use in perpetuity. But they were just saving it for this moment. I am sorry to lose Shaw, but I'd been expecting his dying words to be "Seven of Nine" for a while. Not unexpected. Still pretty sad. Terry Matalas has more than earned his Legacy series. Make it so.
  17. There was a whole convoluted thing maybe six or seven years ago where Betsy was forced back into her original body, and then as part of the whole Dawn of X story, they revived Kwannon.
  18. This is set after Secret Invasion, right? So that’s definitely Fury? I just love a good use of a pop song in a trailer, and this was a great use of one.
  19. Well, that’s the most excited I’ve been for an MCU movie for a while. They even appear to be using the Carol the Accuser element from the Empyre event from two or three years ago. They had me at “army of Flerkins.”
  20. I finally sat down to watch the first episode, because I had some spare time, and also because I work for the health system featured on the show, and they've been hyping it on the screensavers on all the hospital computers. It's kind of a weird experience for me. I've never worked at Lenox Hill, but I spent most of my last two years of medical school at Staten Island University Hospital (where the stroke patient was picked up in the first episode), and also trained at Cohen Children's Medical Center (and the psychiatric hospital that's on the same campus). I keep looking for people I know. I do call foul on one thing. CCMC shares a campus with Long Island Jewish Medical Center (for adults) and Zucker Hillside Hospital (the aforementioned psych hospital). ZHH is in Queens, but the county line runs down the middle of the campus and LIJ and CCMC are on the other side of it.
  21. That's certainly the best-looking Star Wars game ever.
