  1. We definitely have been told that Mindy Sterling plays Geoff's mom and they have interacted. Although those scenes are rare; many of the "yenta" scenes don't mention that connection - even when Geoff was there. I assume at some point we saw both parents together, but honestly can't cite an example. I liked the Neighborhood Watch portion of the episode, although Erica's constant complaining got old.
  2. Yeah, I think at the end of last season, there was an episode where Brian got them to change the name to honor Mayor West (and also stick it to crazy James Woods).
  3. I did like the postpartum episode where Bow told off Ruby. But, yeah Devante has been an afterthought (or a no-thought in most episodes). I loved Josh in his Cats outfit - that seemed like a random group costume since Cats is so old (and I realize the movie is coming out at Xmas so I think it would make more sense next year). Poor Josh - I need him to get a win sometime.
  4. I'm fine with Andy being retconned out of existence, but I wish they would just toss in a line about Jackie never having kids so we can all move on with our lives. Having said that, I think a story with Jackie/Andy where he is estranged from her could be really good (and could explain why he's never mentioned). And I posted this in an episode thread but I thought the Lunch Box sale to Leon and Nancy happened during the lottery season. I feel like the writers has tossed out everything from that season, so in my head, the show ended with the Connors still owning the Lunch Box.
  5. I would much rather have an A-story of Mary dealing with the race issue than Darlene/Ben mopiness. I do like them, but it's exhausting. I loved Mark and Mary's scene. I thought the selling of the Lunch Box to Nancy and Leon took place during the last season after they won the lottery. So, I assume that never happened in this timeline.
  6. The Garbage Pail Kids movie? Have they already done that? I noticed Adam had a GPK shirt on. I was enjoying this episode for most part until they pulled out the old "one person offends another person and apoligizes" trope. Lord, do they have a white board with that on it and they just fill it in each week like MadLibs? It's frustrating because they could've gone different places with the ghost story, but turned it into a Murray/Bev standard plot. Adam is a junior, so I assume they want to get one more season out of the show and have him graduate. I'm not sure I can take another season and a half of this. I'd rather just watch the far superior first couple of seasons if I want a retread.
  7. Agreed and what really got me was when they were doing the opening narration and showing "token" characters, they used Silver Spoons and acted like Alfonso Ribiero was the only POC. Franklin Seales, who was mixed race, was a regular in the cast too.
  8. Maybe that professor guy will come back and he and Alex can live happily ever after (I forgot what happened with him so that may not be possible). I did think that Gloria looked like a grandma in that Elsa wig. It looked too gray to me. And yes, SV is still smoking hot, but she does not look 30 anymore so I actually liked the story where she is seen as Jay's wife. I would've rather had the episode with Mitch, Cam, and Lily just talking about boys and heartache. That would be fun and sweet - not the farce they did tonight. I know this is just a show, but they really are terrible parents and that's not funny - it's stupid.
  9. I enjoyed the costumes for sure. I liked the pumpkin of RBG, but was it carved all the way through? I thought the point of pumpkin carving was to create a jack-o-lantern, but I could be wrong. And second graders at Halloween for the most part are 7 years old. A few might be 8, so Rory being 10 is very odd. Have they actually said this is second grade? The writers should just change it to third and be done with it. Would save me a headache.
  10. https://www.out.com/news/2019/10/27/it-looks-british-bake-offs-favorite-twinks-are-dating I assume this is a confirmation. They are so cute!
  11. Have they even mentioned other Erica? Maybe just a throw away line about her moving to Paris or something. But, she was annoying, so I guess I technically don't care. Agreed that the Bev is wronged plot is sooooo tired. Occasionally they have switched it around so a kid is wronged by Bev but it's definitely an 80/20 split. I wish they would go back to Bev and her gang making plans. I liked the cookbook thing or her going back to school. There are so many options, yet they keep pulling from the same well. I'm one of the few that doesn't hate Adam, so I didn't mind that plot - it was at least something different for this show and progressed his love life a bit. And I like Ms. Cinnamin. I wonder if we will ever see Asha again. I actually liked her and would rather see her than Carla ever again.
  12. This is the first episode that I fully accepted MPG as Paul. I think he has good chemistry with Tika Sumpter. I think it's his interactions with the kids that fall flat to me, especially when I think of how Beau Bridges did that so well on the mother ship. But I like him now. I also like Dee Dee finally. She finally showed some growth and more than one side. Plus, the dating video was hilarious. And I also really liked Grandpa and SM's story. He is a terrible person for the most part, but really loves those kids. Gary Cole really sells the character and makes you actually not want to punch him most of the time.
  13. Even though the Grey Gardens thing with Graham and Rory was random, I still laughed. Agreed, he has at least one spare bedroom I'm sure. Or a den or something with a couch. But maybe he doesn't want them touching his stuff.
  14. Not anymore. Oh no! Didn't hear that. Oh well, thanks for the update. And to not be totally off topic, this episode was poo.
  15. I liked seeing Christopher Gorham and Matt Wilkas as the daddies (Matt has a funny YouTube channel and is married to hottie snowboarder Gus Kenworthy) but other than that, I got nothing. This was probably the best of the 3 episodes this season, but that's not saying much. I am so tired of shows having their characters just be randomly mean. Claire was cruel to yoga guy (have we met him before - how does she even know him?) for no reason. He seemed nice enough. But Claire has always done this, especially with people she works with so I guess she's just a mean girl.
  16. This was a good episode. I've been into Adam Brody since his OC days, so it's lovely to see him. I actually am looking forward to Derek possibly being in Graham's life - I think that could be a good story. And I love the creepy family and the fact that the little girl has a spinning wheel in her room. Rory is still a bit OTT to me but I do like his scenes with Poppy.
  17. Late to the party but I enjoyed this episode. Love Patrick in Cabaret and really liked Stevie. I think the role of Sally shouldn't be played by a really strong singer but an emotional one and Emily pulled that off (check out Natasha Richardson's version of Sally to get that as well). And I loved that Moira teared up a bit during the number. She was really proud of Stevie. I love that Stevie has gotten to interact a lot with both of the elder Roses these last 2 seasons. I just wish we knew a bit more about her. I feel Jocelyn got shafted this year a bit and hope she gets to shine some in the last season.
  18. I enjoy this show. It falls into a lot of the sitcom tropes that other shows do (did anyone not think ex-husband would stand up for her or that BW would "win over" the hearts of the town?) but it's harmless enough and the cast is pretty strong. Both BW and Anna Camp are good and the supporting characters are slowly finding their own. I'll stick with it. Also, Laura Bell Bundy! I was hoping she would get to sing more but it was nice to see her and hope she comes back. I could even see her reluctantly joining the choir after some sex scandal with Twisty the Clown (the preacher) forces her to leave the mega church I assume she is a member of and dating the ex-husband....I think too much.
  19. I couldn't get through this episode. It is just too disjointed and some of the characters (Asian siblings) are just too over-the-top. It is waffling between realistic (which I think it should be) and cartoonish. I'm not sure it will find its footing before the axe falls. And I like Kal Penn, but he's not working for me here. The tone reminds me of the show the Mayor, which I liked, and felt much more together than this. Of course, that didn't last either, so who am I to judge?
  20. Yes I will follow MPG anywhere and was excited when I heard he was on this. But I agree he is miscast. I really think Anders Holm would've been so much better in this role. I kept screaming that the whole episode. Sure it was probably rare for a dad to stay at home, but it wasn't unheard of. If they make a movie about it, then it's enough of a thing to not be that weird. The whole plot made me annoyed at the aunt. They need to give her some layers because she is so one-note right now. Reminds me of Ruby on black-ish only Jennifer Lewis is a much better actress and has made that character work. And I really wanted some payoff for the mom at the job. Maybe it'll be more of a slow burn leading to some huge smack down.
  21. God this episode was awful. So very very terrible. I did laugh a couple of times (Phil saying “In all my year of teaching...”) but these plots felt like something a seventh grader would write. Claire couldn’t just ask the kids to clear out for a few hours? And why would Alex still be frozen as it had to have taken days to get home? And the freezer thing? She couldn’t just knock on the window? Stupid. I felt like the Gloria plot would’ve worked better in Season 1. She’s been a part of the family for over a decade. Being suspicious of her now seems odd. Of course she can be sketchy but they acted like it was some new trait of hers.
  22. I assume they couldn't think of a way to get them out but it still felt jarring. And weird. Not sure how I feel. And I enjoy the cheesiness that is Yacht Rock. Sentimental Lady is such a relaxing song. RIP Bob Welch
  23. I'm rewatching the show again on Amazon this time (add the rest of the seasons!!!) and am really paying more attention to the emotional scenes. I think a lot of people dismiss MSW as a cheesy murder mystery, but there are some really good heartfelt scenes. I especially loved the reminiscing jailhouse scene with Jackie Cooper (Frank's brother) and the heartbreak on Jessica's face when her friend John Astin turned out to be the killer. You could just see the love and sadness when she talked about Frank. It's a shame Angela Lansbury didn't get an Emmy for this show - she could turn out some great performances. Unpopular opinion coming but I actually like the NY years. I felt that by Season 6 or so, the show was a little meh (but still 1000% better than most stuff) and that the move revitalized it a bit. The first few episodes of Season 8 are a bit painful as she adjusts to life in the Big Apple, but after that I thought it was quite enjoyable. A bit more procedural than older episodes but still good. I never did see the movies. Are they any good and worth the effort of tracking down?
  24. I did like that scene and yes Sara is wonderful, but I am sad we didn't get to see Judith Light and Terence McNally's speeches because of these bits. Maybe if they had made the intro 20 minutes shorter (it felt an hour long). Although I was on the floor laughing at the "fight" between Laura and Audra. I need to see Hadestown. Seeing the Prom later this summer. Tootsie was better than the movie and was one of those musicals that depends on a strong lead to carry it (i.e., Evan Hanson, Hello Dolly). So, I'm good with Santino winning. Beetlejuice was very crude but pretty good and takes a different turn from the movie in spots. Oklahoma was good and weird and I'm glad it got some love - I saw it over a month ago and still think about it.
  25. I like Eve. I don’t trust her. After all, Lucifer killed her son last season so maybe she’s here for revenge.
