  1. Did Phil and nurse break up? I must've missed that. I'm fine with him getting hot guys. Plenty of straight TV shlubs have hot wives so this isn't all that different. And LJ is so cute and funny, I want him to find a nice hot man. I love that song "Before You" by Cheyenne. It's been out for several years so seemed odd they went with that but I enjoyed the whole dancing plot. I thought this was a 13-episode season so was confused why this didn't feel that way. Then saw there are 4(?) more episodes so plenty of time to ramp up the Kat/Oscar drama, which I assume will culminate in the finale.
  2. I’ve watched the first 2 and I think I’ll stick it out. I like Stifler a lot. I was concerned making the main characters these cousins but they are pretty good and it seems they are world building so there will be other characters to develop. Reminds me a lot of Parks and Rec the first season.
  3. The kid did get excited, but I don't think it confirms he was the father necessarily. Just that he knows him well apparently, which could just mean he's a close friend of Sophie. I didn't mind the season finale, although it basically ended in a lot of chaos. Jesse sure bounced back to Meredith quickly. I assumed he would go on tour but to see them kissing was weird to me. I don't know what they will do with the Charlie character as his only real tie was to Valentina. They haven't done a good job of integrating him into the cast. I would've liked an episode where he and Sid did something bar related. Charlie has been with Val or Ellen and pretty siloed from the main action. Speaking of Ellen, another character that hasn't been integrated well. She always just seems to "be there" as opposed to actually being a member of the group. She's the lonely sister who always shows up but no one really wants to be her friend. I realize there were only 10 episodes but I hope they spend some time next season mixing up the characters. And on a shallow note, I miss the gratuitous man-candy from the earlier episodes. I guess Jesse was shirtless but...
  4. Was the Bart story a take on something? The map stuff with the music made me think it is but I wasn’t sure.
  5. Just watched the finale. Did not see that coming. I am a Blu fan for sure but I really thought Mo would pull it out. It felt like she was getting a winners edit this season. And I like Pangina and think she is so good but her stank attitude was annoying. I get she was shocked to be kicked off but Blu didn’t promise anything and this is what can happen when queens vote each other off. Also Jimbo was shady as hell
  6. I am really curious about Irv and Dylan’s outie life. I can totally see Irv being closeted but having a wife and kids and denying it to himself. But his innie has no societal issues so he is okay with it. Although I’m not sure Christopher walken would be my first choice. I had hoped that Cobel was severed too. I think that would have been interesting but I guess it’s not to be
  7. This was my question. I felt she was so wasted. And even though she was super annoying I would’ve loved to see what her story would’ve been like. Overall I was happy with the ending even though I loved Yasper. Like that they actually had clues and it wasn’t out of left field. can’t wait for season 2!
  8. I am glad of the renewal. The second half of the season has been a little meh for me but I like the overall premise and look forward to watching Detective Danner on another case. I wonder if John Early (Culp) will come back too.
  9. I'm sad for Joel and Michael, but honestly, I felt they were together because they are likely 2 of the very few gays in town and options are limited. I think Sam made Joel realize he wanted something different. I expect him to quit his job soon - maybe he can be Tricia's new business partner? I totally gasped when it came out the mom hadn't even mentioned the dead sister and I really liked the short scene at the end with Sam but it ended so abruptly. This is such a good show.
  10. I don't think this will help ratings or the show length. They will still bloat it with silly bits that will keep it at 3+ hours. And I don't think they people who were staying away are suddenly going to flock to it because they don't have to sit through the animated short category. I just think that the movies nominated don't have a far a reach as they once did. It used to be you could make a blockbuster that was also "artsy" but it is rare now that happens. I don't know what the solution is. Maybe they just need to lower expectations and expect more of a Tonys audience as opposed to a Super Bowl one. It's also a pandemic. I usually see all BP nominees but I don't see that happening this year because I prefer streaming and my theater options are limited. It's just a weird year for films and this is not the time to "fix" the Oscars.
  11. I think Preston is the only one. IIRC, he was a neighbor and they got together somewhat quickly after Kat's dad died (1-2 years ago). That was a point of contention between them.
  12. I think Swoosie excels at the drama so it’s nice when she gets a chance to “act”. I especially loved when she was talking about her late husband and got a bit emotional. So good. I really like the Kat/Sheila serious scenes. They play off each other well (I also loved the therapy scene from last season). I like the Randi apartment story. She’s so funny. I’m glad they evolved her to actually be a good friend to Kat and not just some sarcastic coworker. The gym story was so-so to me but it had pretty men in workout gear so I’m good with that.
  13. I felt for Joel in this episode. I hope the Pastor comes back and tells him she knows about the choir and doesn't care. He needs to work on his relationship with Michael. The guy is ticked he spends so much time with Sam and even she sees it. I don't see them lasting the season. And yay on a Season 2 renewal!
  14. I don't know why she told the granddaughter she was the best friend. She could've just said she was her neighbor and they were friendly if she wanted an in but I guess that didn't matter because they really didn't focus on that lie. I agree that Charlie comes across as wacky and feels like he is in a totally separate sitcom. Barney was outlandish too but he jelled better with the group. I want more with Sid and even Valentina. I really don't know who they are below the surface. That being said, I do enjoy this show. It's fluff. It's nostalgia. And it's a good way to spend 30 minutes.
  15. My partner and I both noticed that Jonathan has been more OTT this season and he thinks that he is overcompensating for his internal struggle. I could be wrong, but I do feel a lot of what he presents is surface (more so than usual) and he comes across as a little sad behind the eyes. JMHO and I could totally be off-base. This season was weird with the pandemic so I cut it some slack. I liked the focus on helping those who are doing big things but I also hope they come back to the "normal" people too as those stories can be just as compelling.
  16. Late to the party, but I've been jumping around seasons and just finished this one. Not much to add except about Wanda the drill instructor. It is obvious she and the daughters have a long way to go. I especially noticed this when they came to her post-makeover and there was very little affection. Usually there is lots of hugging and compliments but it was very stilted. Hope they can find a path to each other.
  17. Seconded. Bridget Everett is really really good. Her facial expressions have so many layers. I noticed it when she was watching her parents argue and also before and after she sang. I really hope she gets an Emmy nomination. I was wary a bit of BE because I don’t really care for her stand up but she has made me a fan.
  18. I enjoyed this episode. Love the music and Ben Schwartz has such charisma. Was sad I couldn't binge another episode. My speculation: In Aniq's episode, when he went over to the table where Xavier and Yasper were talking, it sounded like their conversation was quite serious but it didn't seem that way in Yasper's tale. So, that seems suspicious but it could just be Yasper putting a positive spin on things. I question if that text from Xavier was real - I don't think Xavier intended to work with Yasper and just said okay to placate him. So, I think that will play into things later. I have too much time on my hands.
  19. One of the things I am looking forward to with this show is to see the same scenes from different viewpoints and how they differ. Like when Brett sat down at the table and in Aniq's story, he jabbed a knife in the table, but Brett didn't show that. It is going to make any figuring out hard to do because we have no idea who is telling the truth. I think Walt is the killer, although that seems obvious. But I am excited to hear his side of things.
  20. I do like that this third episode mixed up the pairings. Agree that Charlie is a standout and not in a good way. I think eventually he will be toned down a bit but for now he isn't working. I like Hilary Duff, but she comes across as wooden especially in scenes with Jesse, who emotes really well. But, her scene on the subway was pretty good. I doubt VP Drew is the father, but I like Josh Peck, so I'm happy to see him for a while. And, on a shallow note, hi Sid!!!! And on another shallow note, Chris Lowell has beautiful eye lashes.
  21. While I too hated the ending of the original, I still love to watch the occasional episode (the original Robin Sparkles episode is a masterpiece to me) and I was almost kind of excited about this. Mainly because I love Chris Lowell and the British guy is serious eye candy but I found I enjoyed it. The first episode was a LOT of setup but it started to come together in the second episode which gives me hope they will find their groove. I like the concept of one of the 4 guys being the dad. And I got the guys apartment being the old one (love the reference to the "old couple" who lived there - Marshall and Lily would be in their late 40s), but is Sid's bar supposed to be the same one? It didn't look like it to me. However, I thought the girls' apartment looked a lot like the Mother's apartment but that may be me trying too hard to find Easter eggs.
  22. Totally agreed. I feel the song was half over before I ever heard BLH on it and I think she just rapped. Was there no singing? Very odd to me. I also agree with those saying BLH has mostly looked meh this year but has brought it the last couple of episodes. I loved her Greek Goddess look. Happy with an Isis win. She both evolved and showed diversity throughout the season and I love it when an "older" queen wins.
  23. I have to rant a bit about the cooking show skit. I am fine with recurring skits but change it up! They take the previous script and change a few words here and there and I am so tired of it. I get it - one cake is alive and one chef makes a really good cake that is dismissed and one makes a dirty cake...it is so easy to mix this skit up and try new things but they don't. I don't remember much about the previous dog-man one but I feel it is the same way. I was excited for Simu Liu but he got basically nothing to do. And seeing the Asian skit and the karaoke, it seems he has the ability but they stuck him in the straight-man roles too much.
  24. Not much discussion here as we head into the finale this week. This is IMHO an Ella/Kitty showdown. I this Krystal is beautiful but she has never felt as versatile as the others. If this show was all about the runway, she would win, but this show has become a talent show with a runway element. Krystal is so young but I know she has a big career ahead of her. I think either is deserving of the win.
  25. I thought this episode was okay. Since these characters never age, I do appreciate stories that actually have characters evolve a bit as that rarely happens. But things like Apu's marriage and kids and CBG's marriage are nice "new" permanent things that capture my interest in stagnant Springfield. I get tired of Homer and Marge breaking up every other episode. This is assuming, of course, that they actually follow thorough with the wedding storyline.
