  1. I see this commercial differently. The kid is annoying. There are some things that ARE for grown ups. Not everything is for children. The parents have every right to eat ice cream whenever the heck they want. The kid should shut the hell up and go to bed; the parents are paying the bills, not the annoying little brat.
  2. For me, I think this show went into the toilet when they not only killed off Jimmy but Angela too. It felt like the writers just didn't know what to do with the characters so they killed them off (lazy storytelling IMO). When season three began, I felt this gaping hole in the story, like something was missing; like the show never recovered. I think they tried with Gyp, but he was such an over the top cartoon character. I also think the writers didn't know what to do with either Gillian or Richard, shit they should have just had them run off together, it would have made just as much sense as what happened.
  3. At the end of last season, I think I heard there were supposed to be two more seasons. I do remember a heck of a lot of folks all over Tumblr were pissed as hell (as was I) because of how Richard's story ended, because it didn't have to end that way. For me it was pointless; they could have killed him off when Jimmy was killed. I'm not sure I'll even watch this season. I have HBO but I might get rid of it before September.
  4. I don't understand Noelle. If the man she's with is hiding money from his ex-wife; what makes her think that if they get married, he won't meet someone else and do the same thing to her?
  5. I don't think I'll bother watching. I'm pissed that Richard is dead but Gillian isn't. What a horrible person. I still remember when she said Richard wasn't a whole person. That coming from a shell of a "person".
  6. Space Above and Beyond was a perfect example of a show that got screwed because of political shit at Fox and because it was WAY ahead of its time. One of the complaints about that show was that it seemed so bleak, but it was 1995, six years before 9/11; I think many in the US were still optimistic about life. Had the show premiered in 2005, it probably would have been a hit. Yes, that is true; a shame because it was a good show.
  7. I don't get the point. No, rich people aren't special, but there is such a thing as dressing appropriately and by appropriately, I don't mean wearing name brand expensive clothes. Some of the nicest outfits I have purchased have come from thrift shops or K-Mart.
  8. Maybe; but the point was that back then, people didn't eat crap like KFC all the time, and if they did eat take out, at least they had real veggies to go with it.
  9. I don't know about that. I think most people wouldn't wear jeans and cut offs if they were invited to a nice restaurant.
  10. I don't know if this is a UO but I have a problem with the show, "What Would You Do?" My problem is it's often implied that if a person doesn't do something directly to stop racist/classist/sexist/homophobic behavior, they are condoning it. If I saw a store clerk racially profiling someone, I might not say something to that clerk, but you can bet I'll call the store, ask to speak to the manager, complain about the clerk, go on social media and talk about what I saw; some people might take video on their phones and post it to youtube. So, just because you don't directly act, doesn't mean you agree with bad behavior.
  11. The reason I can't stand the KFC ads is because years ago, KFC was something you ate once in awhile. I remember going to a friend's home for a sleepover and her mother called Chicken Delight, which was a local (I think) company in NYC, now this was in the 1960's. I guess back then people fried their own chicken and since the sleepover was a special occasion, my friend's mom decided to order out.
  12. I thought the dinner party was interesting. Most people don't go to dinner parties frequently. You might go to a friend's home for dinner, but they probably know your dietary preferences; if you go to a restaurant, you can order a vegan or vegetarian meal. I went to a dinner recently and you were asked to give dietary restrictions on the RSVP; still there was a woman at my table who announced that she could not eat the beef. I did think it was rude to get up to have a cigarette during dinner; usually people will smoke after dinner; but it doesn't bother me because you can't smoke at the table, so go outside. I think Caprice is a big, old phony. To me, she's an average looking American woman who went to London and for some reason people went gaga over her; now she needs to keep her face in the papers to remain relevant. I think she's below Kim Kardashian because at least Kim Kardashian had a sex tape that made her famous, what did Caprice do, just smile? I'd also take Juliet over Annabelle any day; the women in the hotel looked to be having a better time than Julie, Caprice and Annabelle. Manners are interesting; I have been on quite a few cruises on the Queen Mary 2, which is a very strict ship when it comes to things like dress codes. Every time I've been on that ship, there is always an issue when someone wants to come to the dining room wearing shorts and a tee shirt and is turned away and told that type of attire isn't appropriate for the dining room. I laugh when that person wants to argue about it, especially since on a ship, there are many dining options. If one doesn't work, you can try another.
  13. When I was a kid and I did something like that, open the refrigerator door and stare; I was told that I was wasting money; I guess if your refrigerator door is open too long and the refrigerator is going on and on, it makes the electric bill go up.
  14. I doubt that Discovery told Elliot to bring his girlfriend aboard. Elliot's such a jerk that I can see him doing something like that anyway, just to show the guys that he's got a "hot babe" at home. If she is hot, what's she doing with Elliot. I'm a bit offended at the "druggie" comments. That's why it's so hard for people to admit they have a problem and seek help, because people rag on them for their past. Now Elliot probably shouldn't be a captain at this point; but I've known people in recovery who have had to bartend to make ends meet, so there is that.
  15. That's right. I remember in the late 90's thinking he was from New Orleans and finding out he was from Fall River, maybe he mentioned it, but I remember knowing that in about 1997.
  16. Who is this? Val, the babymama or somebody else? Very true, nepotism is the way of the world; people either favor their children or their friends, that's just how folks are. Probably because nothing "earth shattering" has happened on the TB, no women on the boat, no abuse of greenhorns, no serious injuries. I think TB was featured last week or the week before because of a serious leak; but maybe Disco feels they're boring without Jon.
  17. I wonder how the ratings are on FN. If they're great then that's why they could care less about who can cook. If the majority of the people watching want to watch game shows then that's what FN will give them. Networks are about money; if the majority of the people FN want to entice want to watch a food circus, then FN will give it to them. It's sad but true and it's why I rarely watch FN today.
  18. I think part of that reason was the way Vanessa was introduced to sex. She saw her mother and her best friend's father going at it in the maze. The sex itself wasn't evil, but the lying could have been. She probably saw her mother and Sir Malcolm one way and then BAM, suddenly her illusions were shattered. I think one of the reasons people turn to cults and things like that is because those illusions have been shattered and a person might feel, "well shit, if that's a lie then what else is a lie, and what is the truth?"
  19. Shaw Sue on Person of Interest. She ruined the show for me; between her introduction and killing off Carter, I stopped watching the show and I don't even miss it.
  20. It was Ethan. In the scene when Ethan drinks absinthe with Dorian, several flashes go through his mind. One of them was the prostitute with the apple in episode 2 (I think), the other were the bodies from episode one. I think Malcolm knew that he would have to kill Mina. Sembene said that he wasn't so sure Malcolm could do what needed to be done. I think when Malcolm saw Mina he realized that the person he was looking at wasn't his daughter, that his daughter was dead. To me his pulling the trigger was like a reflex. I thought it was interesting when Vanessa told Dorian she could not be with him anymore. I think that for Vanessa sex, is somewhat of a weakness. The first time she heard the demon's voice was right after she saw her mother having sex with Sir Malcolm; and was the demon inside of her when she had sex with Mina's fiancee? It's almost like, for Vanessa, she can't think clearly when it comes to sex. I think that maybe Vanessa associates sex with evil. I mean her first experience of sex (according to the show) was she saw her mother and Malcolm and that act was illicit because it was adultery. And that affected Vanessa because she probably felt, "these people aren't who I think they are, not who they're pretending to be." It's like if you believed something and then found out it was all a lie, maybe it's easy for evil to enter at that point because you're vulnerable to suggestion.
  21. I am not surprised Sherri is gone. When Sherri first came onto The View, Star Jones had a talk show on what used to be CourtTV. Whoopi Goldberg was a guest on Star's show then and I remember them talking about Sherri; they did not say anything bad about her, but Star suggested that maybe she and Whoopi should take Sherri to lunch and explain some things to her. Apparently Star was afraid that Sherri would make an ass out of herself on TV and Star really didn't want to see a Black woman on TV acting like a fool. Now, if Whoopi and Star talked to Sherri it did not stick. I think Sherri thought herself cute and smart and probably thought Star was being a hater or something. Now I don't like Star but I think she had Sherri's number from the start.
  22. This is correct. The call the contact people and if no one calls them back, EMS will come and WILL break down your door if necessary. My mom would have lost her front door if her neighbor hadn't been around and opened it for them. And falls can happen anywhere, not just the bedroom.
  23. I agree. It's a shame he can't have a show on PBS or something. Cable networks and all networks are about making money and networks know that drama and conflict gets people talking. An educational show can work for a few episodes, but maybe not for more than one season; because I can usually tell what the problem is and why the cat has the problem. In the case of Frankie, I would have told the owners to see the cat like a child. You know, you have a child for 9 years and they're an only child and then BOOM, their whole world changes and suddenly they have three noisy siblings. A human child would be a bit upset.
  24. I just watched the episode and my opinion about what happened at the end is this, Shanna said she heard some jokes about R. Kelly and "golden showers" but didn't know that an underage girl was involved, she mentioned Macklemore making jokes about it and probably just thought R. Kelly was a freak. Nicole said that she didn't connect the dots, which may be true since it happened years ago and I know people these days can forget things that aren't current. That said I don't feel for Drea. She had to know that R. Kelly's past would come up when she went on this show. As for her marrying him, I think when she married Kelly, there were whispers about he and Aaliyah but I remember not believing that she was 15; I looked at her pictures and thought, "No way, that girls' 18 at least." However, when Drea signed up for the show, she had to know that the whole "golden shower" story might come up. I'm glad that Drea said she didn't blame Shanna or Nicole, but blamed Robert, who is the only person to blame.
  25. To me the problem with this show is just that, it's a show. And when something is a show that means it's about drama and conflict. It's like the Food Network; that channel isn't about cooking, it's about personalities and drama. These days if I want to see something educational, I watch PBS.
