  1. I kind of see that but...following that thought, how can they nominate shows on HBO or Showtime, two channels that many people in the country can't even afford? I have neighbors who love Game of Thrones, but can't watch it live because HBO's too expensive, so they have to wait for the DVD's.
  2. I think the family dynamics on this show are interesting. Bill and Zach; Phil and Jake and Josh; Sig and Mandy. Some may think Bill going off on Zach is abusive; then again being a hovering parent like Sig might be seen as abuse as well because what you're not so silently telling your child is, "you can't do this." I got the feeling that even though Phil might not have always been there for Josh and Jake, he loved those boys and they loved him.
  3. This is why to me, the Emmys are a big, steaming pile of shit. If a show as beautiful looking as Hannibal can't get a nomination, if Tatiana Maslany can't get nominated for playing seven characters, then how seriously can anybody take the Emmys?
  4. Okay, but if a person doesn't watch SyFy, they wouldn't know what the heck that commercial is about. I used to watch SyFy but when Being Human ended, that was it for me.
  5. For me I don't nitpick over some things, but do nitpick over others. I liked Extant because normally when I watch TV I look at the clock all the time and wonder when the fuck the show will be over. Last night I looked at the clock and couldn't believe it was 9:50, I thought, "SHIT it's almost over, I want more!" The think I liked about this show was what I didn't like in Almost Human; I felt that with this show, someone sat down and thought about what type of world this would be, I liked the details, the nightlight, the trash being taken out, how she was able to get the news on her mirror. Those things really made me interested. Another thing was the little boy (who I thought was real at first). The way the child looked made me think, "yes he could be their son." So many times on TV when producers and directors create shows with people of different races married to each other, they don't seem to get the looks right, not just the skin colors, but the features; I thought they were on the money with the little boy. Then I watched the season premiere of The Bridge and was bored in ten minutes, so I turned it off.
  6. WTF is going on with that commercial or promo on Discovery for Shark Week? What's with the douchebag riding two sharks throwing chum in the water as the sharks devour birds, a sailboat and seals and the silly mermaid lovingly holding onto his leg? http://youtu.be/7o70X8bRlsc
  7. What was offensive? I'm not saying Black women SHOULD be mules; I was saying that Black women IMO are treated differently, are not seen as women the way women of other races are, so when Sherri does something for herself, folks go to nut city, just my two cents.
  8. What bothers me about Sherri is the hate I"m reading on other sites. I wonder if a lot of the hate has to do with living in a society that expects women to automatically love all babies, even if they aren't theirs and expects Black women to be mammies, to mule for everybody and care about everybody's needs but their own.
  9. I think you're right. There are plastic surgeons where I live that have whole buildings reserved for patients post surgery, of course this is only for those who can afford it.
  10. From what I've seen the ratings for DC are pretty good; maybe people like Elliot. I don't. I think he's the nastiest man I've seen in a long time. All I kept thinking was, "why is this woman with him?" Then I realized that Elliot's on TV and there are A LOT of people who want to be on TV and think that you're nobody if you're not on TV. I also can't stand Elliot's teeth, ugh, so gross. Everything about Elliot is gross to me, he looks like he stinks.
  11. I even understood that. To Josh, Derrick was attacking Jake (IMO Derrick wasn't attacking Jake, but I could see how Josh saw it that way) and Josh wasn't having anybody attack his brother, though I do think on some level Josh knew Derrick was right, and I wouldn't be surprised if now he REALLY knows Derrick was right. But at the time, Phil had recently died, Josh felt that he had to protect his brother and to him Derrick was attacking Jake, so Josh lashed out; it wasn't right, but I understood it. I really think both Derrick and Josh were trying to be right in that situation.
  12. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but after the dismal season 4 ending, I originally heard that the show would go on for 2 more seasons and then suddenly it was one. I wonder if all the anger on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr made the show runners think that maybe folks might skip 2 more seasons and figured they'd better end the thing. I hated, hated, hated the end of season 4 and you know what I mean when I say that, I mean the last shot; I was like, "okay show, WTF" talk about lazy, stupid writing. When I read better fanfic than what I see on the screen, you know there's a problem.
  13. Ugh, don't remind me of BSG. To me the ending made no sense, but I had check out when Dee, the only Black woman on the fucking show .
  14. So what should Kandi have said? Should she have gotten on her knees and blown him? To me a "thank you" or "you did a good job" goes a long way.
  15. I feel this way about Keith and most reality folk. If you followed anybody with a camera for years, you would probably see things that were less than flattering. I mean nobody is Zen 24/7/365. I know some have issues with Josh Harris but I remember how he stepped up when his father was dying. I know people who would probably be considered nice who, if their parent were in the hospital, would run to the nearest bar and get and stay fucked up and not be there for that parent. So I can't totally hate Josh, sorry.
  16. I agree. I think the problem with this show was the suspense as to what was it that happened to end them in couple's therapy. Then when it was revealed, I was like WTF? The show was great IMO and I think it would have been better on another night.
  17. Brandy lied about two things her looks and her job; everything else, her love for dogs, etc was real. I actually thought she WAS the girl in the pictures but had just gained weight. Brandy said she was a dispatcher, she probably thought if she said she was a dispatcher no guy would talk to her? I can see Jeff being in a relationship with her because apparently whatever Brandy's ex boyfriend did to her, she told Jeff, but we the audience don't know what that was. Maybe something really bad happened to her and that's why she started the fake profile. Interesting that they blocked out Brandy's last name.
  18. Any man who would have his wife and mistress pregnant at the same time isn't a person of good character. I don't know what to think about Jeffrey's father. Yay, we have a winner!
  19. Is Andy out of touch with the majority of viewers or just us folk here? I have to disagree here. I had a friend who was injured as a child and got a million dollar settlement. She got married and had children. Because of the nature of her injury, she was afraid that she might die young (which she did) so she drafted a will that left her children everything. The reason was that she, "didn't want her husband to take her settlement money and spend it on another woman" so she wanted to make sure her children were taken care of. MJ was just nasty; couldn't she at least smile for the wedding pictures? I thought that was all kinds of wrong.
  20. I don't think anything is wrong with Kandi's daughter, not everybody speaks the same way, some speak slower than others.
  21. For me, if my parents said, "no you can't have it" case closed. I don't care if the adults are hugging it close to them, they're the adults, they're paying the bills. So be a good little boy and go to bed, kid shouldn't have been up that late anyway.
  22. This episode made me wonder if Gordon was sabotaging her other relationships. I think their relationship was like this: Gordon was in love with Heather but knew Heather would never give him the time of day; Heather knew Gordon was in love with her but she kept him in the "friend zone" and Gordon knew that. So Gordon decided to sabotage all Heather's relationships in the hope that one day she would admit that he was her true love, the music would swell, the end.
  23. I think my parents would have just told me to get back to bed and leave the grown ups alone. And they would not have been wrong. What's wrong with Yoplait? I eat yogurt all the time.
  24. I think with Keith mileage just varies. To me Keith is very passionate and emotional; I think he knows how far to take it. I remember last season when the greenhorn had to be airlifted by the Coast Guard; Keith kept his cool then, he was scared, but he kept his cool. As for his temper, I worked for someone like that and after a few times, I realized this guy was all bark and no bite, kind of like an infant, scream for five minutes, go pee and then they're fine. I think Keith is like that.
  25. I really agree with this. I hate those commercials because if you vagina stinks that much, you should go to the gynecologist, STAT.
