  1. I don't think it even happens that much. On the panels I've seen, the speakers turn them on to test and then the producer/tech tells them to turn it off because they're battery powered. On tv, they walk into the bathroom and everyone can hear them. There's no way a producer would let them walk out of the room with the equipment.
  2. I think the article was poorly written and lacked a clear point. There are in fact colleges that have 'woke' students in the way Bill describes. They're in the news, and Bill talks about them on the show all the time. I don't know if any of you know this, but he was going to speak at a graduation at Berkeley and they 'canceled' him. That is kind of 'too woke', to be fair. Especially after he gave a four minute monologue on why he wasn't planning to do his act, but give a humorous speech with some things he's learned about life. He did that on the show. It was actually a very reasonable response. However, there aren't nearly as many 'woke' colleges as Bill thinks there is. Similarly, sure, there's colleges so conservative that mentioning 'freedom fries' and 'climate change' triggers them that they walk out. The author was calling particular attention to the students walking out that I can understand why 'virtue signaling' was pointed out. To the point where he seemed to know what to say to cause that reaction. The author also pointed out he talked at more colleges than Bill, and implied as a result he knows more about colleges. Bill's been working the circuit for a very long time, so I'd like to see some numbers to back that up. But the overall point that Bill and this author were actually making and which they're both kind of missing is that both sides have people that get overwrought about whatever. I also can speak from vast experience at many and current universities that both have zero idea about what goes on at all. Now, certainly, I can see why some college students might walk out of a talk; there's many legitimate reasons. I don't think they're talking about that.
  3. I think either episodes 3 or 4, or 4 or 5 had a lot of overlap. It was the ones on race and class iirc. There could have been room to trim those and make an animation episode. I mean, I saw more of the Fresh Prince in this series than I ever saw when it actually aired.
  4. That was her first time at the Fair, so maybe not. Though I take the point if she's active online that they might know her. It would be like here, if we went to a con, no one really knows who the other is unless we say our nicknames. We don't post our pictures here. I can handwave she's good enough to keep her online footprints clean, or just flat out lie about her online presence.
  5. I'm not sure I get the point here of the article either. Was he saying it's good that people are walking out of his talks at these colleges? I don't know what colleges Bill has spoke at, so the claim he only speaks at elite colleges probably should have been backed up with some more information.
  6. You all must remember the mountains of Miami on Dexter. At least on the reboot they'll be there for a reason.
  7. Ham said he was gay as an aside in the first episode. Everyone was like, 'yeah we know', so it wasn't meant to be a huge revelation.
  8. Is the hostage situation affecting how the grill works? Thank you Cheryl.
  9. Bill didn't say that. He was saying that there's more comedy to be made at the liberal side of things, so making a show for the hard right Fox news people makes sense for them.
  10. Left hook on Pam! I'm applying for dual citizenship in Pamistan. Nice touch with the 3D printed guns. I do like that Archer doesn't lose his cool.
  11. I like that HBO Max is showing first run movies that are also in the theater. So I'm more inclined to watch more movies. This was a huge miss. Was it supposed to be some against-type casting to have Jackman be a total sadsack milquetoast? He got honey trapped and basically whined about it for the rest of his life. Literally. If you're in the pod memory thing for decades, how do you eat and pee?
  12. Kay shot back that the Fox talk show was fairly predictable too. I mean, you're coming out with new material 200+ nights out of the year, you're going to have some predictablity. So what? I don't watch the nightly talk shows, but I'm doubtful they don't write jokes for both sides.
  13. Liverpool let that 3 points get away today.
  14. To be fair, Bill was saying comedy was more partisan now. He did say Carson used to do political jokes. I don't know if that's the late night hosts' fault. Bill said himself - you go where the funny is. Qanon is rich fodder for comedy. Who are the people in Qanon? Reed is delusional of he doesn't think church is talking about politics.
  15. I dismissed anything Reed had to say when he was on the show way back as the mid show interview and told Bill he votes GOP so scotus will overturn Roe someday. Don't act like you're even remotely invested in Afghanistan because you read the deal. Kay even called him out on whether he would have supported Biden if he just canned the deal Trump made and he just blathered about conditions. I don't hate people, and Bill should have conservatives on the show, but it's not this guy. If Kay thinks anonymous Twitter is bad, she should read my student evaluations.
  16. I enjoyed the documentary. I would have liked more on his insight into acting as when he was talking (I know it wasn't him) about Batman and Tombstone. I don't think he should (and doesn't) really care if he was labeled as difficult. Dude was in Julliard. He gets to have an opinion. I was kind of bummed he didn't like Top Secret because it's hilarious. The approach to The Doors was really good. I like stuff like that, when comedians talk shop about jokes, etc. Or putting the ice in the bed for the last scene in Tombstone. I don't think he was in the wrong with the director either. I think he was winding the guy up a little, but Kilmer correctly pointed out that the guy talked about leaving the film, so as the lead actor (one of) he's got a right to know who is piloting the ship. I was dying when they were filming 'Norm'. Hi Norm! He did say he is better than he sounds. I know acting is his life, but he can clearly write, so if he can't act anymore, he still has work. Jack killed me on the v/o with Holliday was...a...dentist?!
  17. I fundamentally disagree that animation = escapism automatically, so that's why I had said that. They said in this episode here that Flintstones was an adult sitcom that ran in primetime that satired consumerism. That's hardly escapist.
  18. I just heard. EPL is going to be something else with CR, Lukaku, Salah, and and Kane.
  19. I don't know if you're familiar with Williamsburg in Virginia, but they have a colonial settlement like that with the actors. There's a smaller place in Massachusetts too. You get to go in the houses and mills and all that. That's the first lesson in Sun Tsu.
  20. To be fair, the time period isn't entirely their fault. I'm hoping they take some advantage of being on Hulu though.
  21. Turkey chili in the crock pot. #ProblemSolved
  22. EW has a fun article on a variation of the breakfast trope we've discussed here.
