  1. That was one of my favorite little moments too. They've been kind of ridiculously written as hating each other as much as they do but I really liked this moment and the even smaller moment when Donk had his bursting Ulcer moment and they shared a look across the table. I feel there was so much more potential to having them become allies than stay enemies so long.
  2. Partially true. If you had/have a relaxer then you stay away from getting your hair wet. You spend a million hours at the beauty salon getting your hair done and if it gets wet it does not just revert back to its style when it dries, it's a hot mess and if your next appointment isn't for another two weeks what are you going to do with your hair? If you wear your hair naturally, without a relaxer, you may be able to be a bit more versatile and it can get wet and you can still manage it. I thought that was why Bow had her hair in a braid, so she could get in the pool.
  3. Do you mean the 1934 movie with the actress who renamed herself Anne Shirley? That Marilla was kind of plump and Diana was a blonde if I recall correctly.
  4. I'm not sure it's a stereotype but it is not uncommon for black folks not to know how to swim. I learned as an adult and my mom was in the same swim class as me. My aunt and all her children never learned to swim. That's why black folks always give each other the nod when we're at the beach because it's like yeah we're here and we can swim lol. I thought it was a pretty funny episode but I didn't get exactly where they were going with Bow going off on ladies of leisure. Did she think they were lazy, did she think they were looking down on her because she worked? I just didn't get where the animosity was coming from. Loved Diane saving Dre. Why does Dre have to touch all the donuts before he picks one or three?
  5. I read that a while ago, in my opinion it's one of her best books. I think I loved this one and What Alice Forgot the most of all her books. I also just finished reading Take Me With You by Catherine Ryan Hyde and I just loved it. What a quiet book but not boring at all.
  6. This week has just been too much. How many is that in one week, 5/6? It's just too much.
  7. Okay, all death is sad and I was really surprised by David Bowie earlier this week but Alan Rickman just floored me. This is a real shock, I have no idea why this is so much more upsetting, but I can't seem to comprehend this one. So sad, what a incredibly talented actor.
  8. There were pictures of possible donors and Jake said that one looks like my father, it is my father. He told Charles he could not use his father as a donor with clear panic in his eyes but Charles was already too psyched "my son will be your brother" or vice versa. You can see where this might go.
  9. I've gone back to watching some of the early seasons and would love to see Will (Tara & Will), Colin (Colin & Christie), Rob (Romber) and Justin (Justin and Diana) race each other. I could take them with or without their partners but talk about some intense guys that could drive each other crazy and still be entertaining. I wouldn't mind seeing an unfinished business season with just second place teams from previous seasons coming back. To be so close and just miss the million...
  10. Thanks for that Pogojoco, it still seems like a lot of nonsense but does go to show the girl is nuts.
  11. I missed the now what to Megan too, I'll have to go back and check that out. I thought Katie's daughter survived because Emma took her place. I figured Emma got her out of there and then slipped under the sheet. But that whole end in the hospital was so tense I'll have to watch again. And just what was Megan's deal? What exactly did she blame Luther for?
  12. Well I enjoyed it. So glad Emma(?) killed that psycho. I think he was one of the scariest villains Luther has faced. But it seemed to be wrapped up a little too fast, does that make sense? I really missed Alice, and it looks like I'm not the only one. Also missed the last words "now what" from the final episode. That's always been the final words spoken in the last episode of the season, loved that. Agree with poster above about missing Justin.
  13. I'm just catching up on this show now and I love it. This episode was just another great one! Loved Titus giving Kimmy a makeover complete with vacuuming her hair straight. I liked the Beekman guy too but I'm always distracted by anyone that shows up from Harper's Island (I miss that show). The powder idea was great! I'm trying to pace myself because I don't want the show to end. When can we expect the second season?
  14. I saw it yesterday and, like many others, liked it but didn't love it. I loved the original trilogy and didn't really hate the prequels (ducks for cover) but somehow this movie didn't feel like Star Wars, I don't know how to explain that. It was great seeing the Falcon and the original characters though. Really would have like to have Luke utter one word, I kept waiting for him to show up but just the cameo at the end was kind of disappointing. I knew Han Solo was going to die the moment he yelled "Ben" but it did not stop my heart from pleading for me to be wrong and I just wanted to cry when he really did die. I don't think there's any redemption for Ren, but I was intrigued by his instant interest in "the girl" like he knew who she was. He's an interesting character but he didn't feel scary to me, not like Vader. I was glad there didn't seem to be any animosity between Han and Leia, just regret. Like others have said Leia's voice just kept taking me out of her scenes. It seemed to me like she was wearing ill-fitting dentures and it affected her speech. I also was expecting a hug between Leia and Chewie after Han's death, why is she comforting Rey if she doesn't know her? Not sure if I'm going to see it again in theaters, but it would be good to just be able to focus on the details knowing what's coming. Looking forward to the next one.
  15. Yes, you're right. I guess I'm just hoping we never have to see Justin and Diana again.
  16. I can see them being invited back for another All-Star edition, but I don't think they would technically fall into the Unfinished Business version, which I realize is just another All-Star edition. But Unfinished Business seemed to be more for teams that had something really out of their control happen, like an injury, lost passport etc. that took them out of the race. Nothing like that happened to J/D they just didn't win after assuming they had a god-given right to win. Of course I hope to never see them on my tv screen again.
  17. I think Cats might do better than Les Miz only because the latter's sets are so elaborate and almost part of the story. I think it's just too big for this format and with commercials it would probably wind up being 5 hours long.
  18. http://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/carole-king-george-lucas-cicely-tyson-feted-kennedy-center-honors-n475246 So I guess The Eagles weren't honored this year? Still looks like it's going to be a great show.
  19. I was thinking TRON but your idea works too. I really enjoyed this. As someone who unreasonably loves the movie version I was kind of holding my breath but let it out when Stephanie Mills started singing, she still has it. I thought everyone did a good job. It was funny seeing the camera early on in one shot and the Tin Man seemed to have difficulty keeping his hat on a few times but that's the beauty of Live. Like others mentioned I thought Queen Latifah was the weakest vocalist but I liked her acting. I don't watch OITNB but thought Uzo Adubo did a good job with Believe even though it seemed her nerves got to her a bit in the middle. I also thought the set design was great and hope NBC continues this quality going forward.
  20. I really enjoyed the series. I had never heard of Jessica Jones before Netflix so had no expectations, I only came for Mike Colter (don't care about acting ability, the man is fine). But wound up really liking the entire series and finding out about Jessica's abilities throughout the first 13 episodes was nice. I was pleased with the outcome to Kilgrave who really just had to die now and not come back in another season, he was beyond horrible. I think the fact that I was sick of David Tennant as the Doctor by the end of his time on that show didn't help here. I wasn't intrigued by him or anything, just wanted him dead, maybe that was the point. Also, I didn't hate Jessica/KR, she had just the right balance of making you want to slap her and cheer for her. Hope we don't have to wait forever for the next season.
  21. That would be awful. Now I've got to get this thought out of my head. As much as it would please me to see Justin and Diana not win it would be worse if they lost to these two. But with only five teams left what does it say that I'm still not actively rooting for one team to win?
  22. I saw it with my mom over the weekend and came away underwhelmed. It was good, but I have previously read the books so I knew what to expect but my mom hasn't read the books and she didn't say one thing, good or bad about the movie which is unusual for her. I will say seeing the Mutts on-screen freaked me out and Finnick died like a boss. I was over Gale in the first movie so nothing changed here. I just felt the movie...went on too long? I'm not sure, I know the book had a Prologue/Epilogue (?) I forget which is which that I enjoyed but in the movie it just seemed to go on forever and didn't seem to fit the rest of the movie. Maybe this is the problems with pacing that others have mentioned. I won't pay money to see it again in theaters but do look forward to seeing again in the comfort of my own home. I was also surprised but the lack of a large crowd at my theater.
