  1. I'm another one who's really liking this show, from Lois and Clark's relationship to the brothers backing each other up (though not their moodiness), and the plots being interesting. I'm very intrigued by Captain Luthor
  2. Except it looks like it will end on Sep 16. The Futon Critic shows that it will be preempted on Sep 9 for a NFL football game
  3. I love these shows. I love animals so it's fun for me to watch, though I'm not too keen on the bugs and reptiles. Sometimes I wonder if the zookeepers ever thought of putting the elephant, hippo and rhino calves together and see if they would play. I'm not that attracted to adult hippos and rhinos and they are dangerous creatures, but dang their calves are the cutest things. BTW, animal expert Jack Hanna, the director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo, was announced by his family of having dementia back in April. Very sad.
  4. In my view, it was likely she was replacing Eve after Kaitlyn left as another female foil for Mike. The other two daughters were mostly out of the house at that point
  5. I'll have to admit, if I could have a favorite episode of this weird show, that was the one.
  6. On Nat Geo Wild channel. This will cover the various iterations. The parent series covers the Columbus Zoo, there's an Australian version, Tampa, and a few others Secrets of the Zoo: Down Under (Australia's Toranga Zoo), Season 2 is currently running on Sundays with 2 episodes each Secrets of the Zoo (Columbus Zoo), Season 5 and Secrets of the Zoo: Tampa, Season 3 will premiere in Winter 2022
  7. Renewed for Season 2 and will be shown sometime during Nat Geo's 2021-2022 season http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2021/05/18/national-geographic-unveils-2021-2022-upfront-slate-highlighted-by-incredible-stories-of-adventure-and-exploration-from-best-in-class-storytellers-102310/20210518ngc01/
  8. I also wonder how well it did via streaming. SEAL Team does well when streamed so that and its serialized nature makes it a good candidate for being moved to Paramount+. So it’s probably a combination of all the things mentioned
  9. The ABC chief implied in an interview that the show’s streaming numbers were too soft, which combined with soft linear numbers likely doomed it. A show like CBS’s SEAL Team, though its linear numbers were soft, reportedly has strong streaming numbers when replayed on Paramount+, thus it was renewed and will go to streaming. Of course, it didn’t help that Rebel premiered late in the season and particularly when networks are deciding on pilots and their schedule for next season. It just couldn’t measure up so late in the season
  10. That’s too bad, you should consider it, as I believe more and more shows that would otherwise be canceled or premiere on linear will be moved to streaming. SEAL Team is reportedly a strong streaming performer so it’s saved while some other shows aren't. Plus, it’s somewhat serialized, which tends to do well on streaming, so I think it has the chance for a few more seasons on a streaming service. The move might allow it to get more serialized and perhaps more violent, with maybe some bad language, though the interview with David suggests he would want to deploy the latter judiciously I don’t know if I’ll follow it much on P+ as I got my hands full with watching shows on linear TV, but it gives me the freedom to watch when I can without filling up my DVR
  11. I actually wasn't thinking about the union in regards to Hondo, just his career in general, but yes, it will be interesting to see how the writers delve into how the union deals with Hondo and whether they will fight just as hard for him
  12. How is that motivational speaker not a cult leader? She's certainly in league with the Devil lol. The nail place dialogue was too fast for me to catch much other than the nail lady was trying to upsell services. That poor freshman trying to navigate lunch tables; the commentary was hilarious. Just why do Black women (reportedly) continue to go to the same salon when the service is not good, especially with late appointments? I'm sure there was a lot of nuance I wasn't catching with that sketch, though the perfect salon place made a lot pretty obvious that was missing at a regular place The ongoing The Event sketch eludes me as to its purpose
  13. Yet another example of the White male star not being fired but others are expendable for similar bad behavior (though we don't know what happened with Rodriguez). I dropped this show after the first season because I was appalled about Weatherly's behavior and lack of real consequences (plus I wasn't that into the show). And of course Bruce Willis and Caron tried to point fingers at Cybill Shepherd as the source of problems on Moonlighting. Caron is and/or has been a mess as a showrunner over the years, particularly with Moonlighting, yet he's managed to snag multiple shows over the years (a great example of nearly untouchable abusive showrunners)

    LFG

HBO Max "LFG is a no-holds-barred, inside account of the U.S. women's national team's ongoing fight for equal pay as told by Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Becky Sauerbrunn, Kelley O'Hara, Sam Mewis and others." Debuts June 24 on HBO Max
  15. There will be a special episode followup to the series on June 21 https://www.hbo.com/ill-be-gone-in-the-dark
  16. "In 2013, Nigeria enacted the anti-LGBTQ law — the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill (SSMPA) — and in the years since, it has been used to harass, imprison, extort, and commit violence against anyone seen as not conforming to Nigerian societal and cultural norms. The Legend of the Underground is a look at the struggle against rampant discrimination in Nigeria today, as seen through the lens of several bold and charismatic, non-conformist youth who fight to live out loud." Premieres Tue, June 29 at 9pm on HBO and HBO Max
  17. "Revolution Rent follows Andy Señor Jr. to Cuba, where he is tasked with directing a stage production of the Tony and Pulitzer-winning musical, Rent, the country’s first Broadway musical produced by an American company in more than 50 years. Returning to his exiled parents’ homeland, Señor Jr. embarks on a personal journey as he reimagines the show with a Cuban context, exploring his family's heritage and the complex relationship they have with the country they love." Premieres Tuesday, June 15 at 9pm on HBO and HBO Max
  18. I'm not the type who would normally go to the media to get my boss or whoever to do the right thing, but sometimes, like with Weinstein, you need to. LAPD needs to get its house in order but sometimes it takes citizens and outside forces to do it (as with any business or government agency). But media writer Maureen Ryan, who has exposed multiple wrongdoings in Hollywood, pointed out recently, the media and/or public scrutiny should not substitute for a good in-house HR office or the company itself doing the right thing, but it can get the ball rolling on the road to make lasting changes. The police unions definitely need to clean up their act, especially when it comes to bad cops. It will be interesting to see what happens to Hondo because that's a ballsy move
  19. All this angst and wallowing by Jeff is very annoying and bringing down this last season, as is the whole Pierce family anger at each other. It looks like it’s starting to abate though, with Jeff taking on the mantle of Black Lightning again I thought Lala needed a special process to resurrect, but I could be misremembering his previous resurrections. I also thought a tattoo got added to his body after each resurrection but it didn’t seem to happen this time Recasting Jenn and explaining it by having the character’s genes express her looks differently as she got put back together was an interesting choice. It’s scifi so it works for me
  20. I enjoyed seeing the old gang come together for Sean and his portrayer John Reilly even if the caper was kind of lame and too short. What I don’t quite understand is why they were doing a memorial, including a full episode, for a character that hasn’t been on the show for a long time. I’m sure many viewers were confused as to who this guy was Regarding Luke and Tony Geary, he was powerful and ate the show and held it to his whims, very likely long past when he should have, and it’s clear Maurice Bernard is the current guy doing the same. There are times it seems he’s bored and doesn’t want to be there. Plus, like Geary, he should have been successful outside soaps and wasn’t
  21. Clearly those two need to get together as a couple. They may be the only sane ones in that extended family
  22. Yay for a full forum! Also, I’d be interested to see if there are any media follow ups with or about those folks who were unhappy about the show before it premiered worried that it wasn’t properly representing Afghanistan, especially with Al being played by a South Asian (which does bother me)
  23. Aw, poor Al in this latest episode, with the Afghan American lady ripping into him for being an interpreter for the Americans. I was surprised they went there with them discussing how there were no easy choices and Al admitting the Americans didn’t end up being the country’s saviors. I appreciate the writers didn’t hold back on how it really is. I did like the guest actress
  24. I enjoyed the last 2 episodes, especially the camping one, the last episode not quite as much. The camping one was funny and enjoyable, even though I don’t really like Jen that much. The last episode was pretty good and nostalgic, though it was a little heavy handed having mourning for the stolen truck as a stand in for the ending of the show Tim Allen has made it clear in interviews he resisted ending the show. I think he made that initial ABC cancelation political when he didn’t need to, and bringing it back with so many changes because of unavailability of the cast hurt it. It probably should have ended when ABC canceled it. It definitely lasted a season or two longer than it should have
