  1. I had heard about Laura through the forums here. I haven’t seen either Laura or Steven’s other Naked and Afraid episodes but they worked very well together! They are rock stars! I’d watch another episode of them in another locale instead of 2 new, barely competent individuals trying to conquer an unforgiving environment. I watched about an hour of Sunday’s 2 hour show and while the women seemed ok that one guy who preferred to be alone needed to go...he was on the wrong show - maybe he was a reject from the History Channel show Alone?
  2. When they showed Orin walking through Engineering like he’s always been on the ship I knew that would be trouble. Any good ship would probably have areas that are secured within the secured area, like only for those with the role that deals with that stuff. This is like some parts of a company’s IT area like server rooms that you’d need a badge with certain access, they don’t let just anyone (even IT people) walk in unless it’s part of their job.
  3. I miss Decades too. I just checked the Decades website for their channels and still see the “coming soon” type messages for the channels that were switched to StartTV, I wonder how that channel is going for CBS. I am considering sending them an email to them about this change and asking them if they’d consider a streaming online through their site setup for those in areas now covered by StartTV. Other channels do this - Buzzr and CometTV are ones that I’ve found, there may be others.
  4. Yes, they’d have to be ready for an unrelenting assault from anywhere and a multitude of members - who wants to deal with that? If the IRS pursues removing tax exemption status they’d have to set their people up to be guarded or sheltered somewhere secret to avoid confrontation and I don’t know if that is even possible. IMO even though it will take longer I think a more effective strategy is educating people (like this series has done) regarding Scientology to prevent more from joining ... and provide a way for those involved a way out.
  5. @Barb1959 if you downloaded the app via the iTunes Store the instructions state if you turn off auto renew you won’t be billed - I am not a CBS All Access subscriber but I’m guessing you need to go into the settings for the app on your device (I’m talking specifically about an Apple device, it may be the same with other versions). I hope this helps.
  6. I’m also wondering about the comments Mike made about becoming friends with the Mintons after all of what he did to them. If I found myself in a position like the Mintons, once it was over and done with I’d want nothing to do with anyone who had anything to do with the pain inflicted on me. People have their own definition of friendship and who they’d consider a friend I guess. I loved the last segment in the park, no one from Scientology showed up to get rid of them, heh.
  7. Me too. I watched Decades from time to time and enjoyed it. I haven’t watched Start at all and do not plan to. I wish CBS in my area (NY-NJ) would change it back or at least make it available for streaming through their website.
  8. I haven’t read her book either but regarding the story about the stepfather running off - I wonder if Leah’s mother talked to him about the poor conditions they were in when they first got down there and then he decided not to go. Maybe the book gives more insight into this story? Watching the show last night I was amazed at the lengths these people go to harass people that go against this supposed “church”. I am hoping that one day they will overstep and encounter someone or a group that puts an end to it for good.
  9. I was fooled too even though that type of story has been done before. Beforehand I was wondering how well the relationship between the both of them would go on the ship and how everyone else would deal with it long term. I guess that’s not an issue now!
  10. It’s the latter - anyone from Xelayah who leaves and goes to another place with a lower gravity will have superhuman strength. If they’re gone long enough that trait will decrease like it did to Alara.
  11. @HelenBaby it sounded like him. That double esophagus thing is pretty gross. I didn’t recognize Dr Phlox almost until the end but it’s fun to spot the former Star Trek people.
  12. @libgirl2, yes they have kids - the man mentioned having to move so the kids wouldn’t have to be exposed to the same experience later on.
  13. Yes - that would be interesting to hear more about. I’m sure everyone here has gotten their share of telemarking calls and have had plenty of experiences of blowing them off, hanging up the phone, etc. What makes the experience with the registrars any different with their endless number of phone calls? About the first couple who spoke, when he said he told them not to come to his job anymore and come to his house, I thought nooooooo, don’t do that, then you’ll never get rid of them! If a group is telling you to divorce your spouse early on if they’re not joining that’s a big red flag. I had a family member who ended up divorcing his wife because he wasn’t interested in joining the Jehovahs Witnesses and she was just getting into it.
  14. Good question. I was wondering how just anyone could open the panel and put in a disk to run a holodeck program for it not be checked for something like viruses or if it is “Union approved” or whatever. From having worked for a bunch of companies that issue laptops to their employees I know they tightly control what someone can install on it in order to protect both the laptop, the company network and other company laptops from viruses, etc. I’d think that this type of thinking would exist on the Orville and their other ships.
  15. This plot reminded me of 2 Star Trek original series episodes: The Naked Time for the ship’s observation of the planet’s demise and subsequent peril to the ship and “All our Yesterdays” for the Enterprise crew planned rescue of the planet’s inhabitants even though they had their own plan already. They did not have space travel either - Kirk, Spock and McCoy violated Federation policy when they went down to the planet to save the inhabitants.
  16. Isaac asked the leader about radiation suits and she said they each had one. About Claire, I guess one could be a good counselor but not always be able to solve their own problems. Good episode overall. I can’t imagine what the final hours would be like for the members of a dying civilization - first “we’re all going to die”, then “phew, we’re going to make it”, then “only some of us will make it”.
  17. I was wondering about that too, assuming there was a camera in the police car that she stole when the Dalek was controlling her. I guess she’s on her own for this ...
  18. @Chicago Redshirt I agree completely re: Kelly and Ed. They must work together given their roles on the ship so they can’t avoid each other. I want the show to work this out so we don’t need to have it used as a continued source of conflict / plot device. I hope the show finds something else. I did like the plot about Claire’s problems with her son and saw the outcome coming (it was James who was the problem) but I hope the relationship between her and Isaac does not evolve into more than what it is now.
  19. I’m not sure if I’ll watch as I don’t watch a lot of network TV but I’m wondering what JFK Jr. might have accomplished if he were still with us.
  20. I came here to say the same thing and add: I like waffles and I like chicken. Together? No way.
  21. They showed The Eagle and the Hawk, a WW I movie early this afternoon.
  22. @MushMarch, The situation you describe reminds me of a scene in St Elsewhere (from the 80’s) - one of the orderlies on the show was on The White Shadow a few years prior and played the same character. (Coolidge). Another character from the White Shadow (Salami) was on a couple of St Elsewhere episodes as a different character. When Coolidge spots who he thinks is Salami, he starts talking to him like he’s his long lost buddy - “Salami” brushes him off saying he doesn’t know who he is. Anyway, spotting this kind of stuff with actors playing recurring roles on different shows of the same era and considering how they’d each interact if the shows met can be fun.
  23. I don’t know what’s going on with Cozi TV but the Decades removal may be due to the market you’re in, not Comcast. Decades has been replaced by Start TV in the CBS owned and operated markets. I think they’re looking for new affiliates for Decades in those areas so it may show up again in your listings. Crossing fingers MeTV stays where it is. Regarding your comments about Gilligan’s Island, I agree! Watched it growing up, even the late 70s TV movie where they are rescued - I saw it again somewhere years later and Gilligan still screws up!
  24. I didn’t like all the fighting in this episode but I guess the choose your last meal thing was a pretty effective method to pit them against each other before they are let out of the cage. Given we’re half way through there will a somewhat quick wrap up. I hope it’s funny and not a lot Of the same stuff we’ve seen the last couple of episodes. I’m guessing Chet will somehow come to the rescue.
