  1. There is something fishy (lol) about those fish hooks. I’m guessing the cameras also stopped Duke from checking all of Jeff’s hooks and claiming that eel was really his.
  2. I’m surprised they let people who have spent the night in a medical tent return - in addition to recovering from what caused them to get the medical assistance in the first place, they get to spend the night on a much more comfortable (I’m assuming) cot in a warmer area away from the bugs, etc. They get a recharge that the others don’t get. I’m guessing since there’s no monetary prize at the end returning is no big deal. As for Jeff and Laura I hope in the end they realize how they’ve appeared to the audience like Russell apparently has, or perhaps the show has a curve ball or two for them that will entertain us. I’ve been wondering how this 60 day challenge thing would have proceeded if Matt Wright was involved instead of Jeff.
  3. I think it’s mostly what we’ve seen before with some additional footage mixed in. They just showed a segment with Rylie and Christina arguing over not finding the fire starter. I don’t remember seeing that before - initially to me it seemed like they got along so well then here they’re fighting.
  4. Yeah it seems Syfy only has a marathon for New Years now. Same thing happened last year but I still had Decades. I refuse to watch its replacement and no one else has picked up Decades in my area.
  5. Most likely they did. I’ve also been wondering about whether or not Charlie was encouraged to take the path he did to find the others when he was out exploring. You know, after Jeff declined to trade away a few fish hooks then giving the others another chance to make a trade.
  6. Great point. I don’t remember if it was Duke or James who noted that they probably didn’t have anything that Jeff and Laura would want to trade for but I give them kudos for coming up with the idea and acting on it. As for Jeff, he probably would not be a good chess player (thinking ahead a few steps in a variety of scenarios due to how the opponent may respond). He looked a bit surprised at the trade offer Even if Jeff gave them 4 fishhooks he still had the advantage in catching something with what he had left. Then there was the effort that both had to make in finding bait - since there were so many hooks in the water I guess that wasn’t an issue? The show sometimes has a way of delivering some karma, this bunch now knows how Jeff and Laura operate so I hope the others will be able to deliver it!
  7. @GHScorpiosRule I have a similar situation with a song I purchased via iTunes a while back for my iPod Touch 4th gen. It played as it should start to finish as it should for a while then it started to act up. The tune would play a couple of seconds then go on to the next track. I never really pursued trying to fix the problem as each time I was at the gym working out and I’d forget about it. This tune was part of a movie soundtrack - when I purchased it I also bought another tune from the same soundtrack and that one has never had any problems. So reading your story today motivated me to check that tune again. It’s not even in my iTunes library online nor on my current 6th gen iPod Touch but it is still on my ancient 4th gen device still acting up - I suspect it was on my current device when I first synched it from the old device but somewhere along the way it was removed from my library and device during a backup. I’ve never gone to Apple support about this but your story tells me I won’t have much luck. I’m pretty sure I played the tune enough to get my 99 cents worth anyway. This kind of stuff reinforces my opinion that it’s probably best that if you’re willing (and can find) just get the CD and go through the added steps to get it on the device.
  8. The coming attractions for next week show them on the move again so maybe their next stop will be somewhere where those fish hooks won’t be as useful. Then one of the others will find and catch some meaty animal and share it amongst themselves while Jeff and Laura look on, lol.
  9. That one looked much smaller than the ones Laura and Jeff have been catching. I’ll be paying attention at the end where they reveal how much weight each person lost during the challenge. I’ll bet Laura and Jeff will have lost close to the least despite being out there for the additional time.
  10. So at the beginning of this challenge I never thought I’d say this but I’m sad to see Russell go like he did. He seemed to be a more decent person this time and probably realized how he behaved last time and worked to correct that. With the other group I liked the bartering idea but I’m not surprised Jeff didn’t want to do that. I guess he figured he could end up with no eels instead of a little if he decided to share what he caught. Oh well. The yelling over getting a 3rd eel was pretty obnoxious. The yelling didn’t bother me at first but when you’re in an enclosed area with others who are very hungry, haven’t had any luck catching anything and you know it ... better to keep a lid on your euphoria that you are eating another meal the 3rd day in a row.
  11. @Chewy101 The new episodes are on Sundays. I find the listings with the episodes labeled as “new” but are repackaged confusing too. Then there are the pop up and xtra episodes ...
  12. I’ve been wondering how many people make up the production staff there considering the number of groups that they start with plus Jeff and Laura’s 20 day head start. Your point makes sense since the path through the jungle looks pretty dense and slow going. Then there doesn’t look like there’s a lot of room for production to set up their tent and equipment and be out of the way for the participants. At the beginning of Sunday’s episode Jeff mentioned the extraction spot is 20 miles away so even though they still have a lot of time to go they needed to start moving even though they liked where they were. I suppose they’re going to move again (or at least one of the groups will) before extraction and everyone will be together. About Jeff and Laura catching the eel and the others coming up dry, I wish the show would tell us how long the others were trying to catch something. I’m sure there’s something else in that pond besides the eel. It had to have been eating something before it was caught.
  13. There were a few weeks in a row that I’d tune in on Sunday night for a new episode (at least as indicated by my online listing) and they would show an episode with the woman always saying she’s not into cuddling no matter how cold it gets so I’ve been confused too. I know I saw a new episode last night - the young woman kind of reminded me of Megan Markle looks wise and I know I haven’t seen her before, lol.
  14. Yeah, I don’t understand how Jeff and Laura can tell the others sorry we’re not interested in merging with you then want to go off in to the jungle as a group. I don’t recall if the show talked about any kind of dangerous predators other than the snakes. If this was taking place in Africa where there are large predators I’d understand wanting to join the group but here - I don’t get it. Stuff like that must be taken into consideration when you make these kinds of decisions. During Jeff’s first appearance on the show he did mention being newly married and how he discussed the no cuddling deal with his wife. He also came across as a hard core Mormon but we’re not seeing that at all now. I think Charlie needs to understand that everyone in his group is interested in contributing but it will be at the right time such as what Max did. I would not want to see him be taken out with another knee injury. That jungle looks wet and slippery.
  15. I’m mixed on whether or not Jeff and Laura should have shared the eel - at least 2 of the other 4 (James and Gabrielle) completed their individual challenges on their own so those 2 at least have had only themselves to rely on for several days. The coming attractions indicate they’re going to catch another one so this could get ugly. At least Laura kept Jeff from yelling when he got the eel. That was fun to watch. I’m wondering how much there really is to find in that jungle. Charlie didn’t seem to have too much difficulty in finding the snake, did the other group look around for other food as well as fish? I started out liking Charlie but now I’m not sure anymore. The others aren’t exactly laying around. I was expecting the 2nd group (Jeff, Laura, et al) to arrive at that same cave (the bat cave, lol) but the one they’re at looks nicer.
  16. It is here: https://forums.primetimer.com/forum/1874-alone/ Enjoy!
  17. I applaud him as well. I was concerned for Quince’s toe when he messed it up after he was left alone - but like a trooper he made it through! I don’t think I would have continued on if I was in the same situation.
  18. He’s part of this year’s XL and killing it there too. I’m glad he has plenty of people around him but he seems to be turning into the main food provider for the group. I’m not sure how good that is in case he goes down and has to leave.
  19. @Jacqs Quite possibly however with the ever growing cast I’m sure it was a challenge for the writers to come up with stories featuring the different cast members over the course of a season to keep them relevant on the show. Plus given the longevity of the series the last few seasons always seemed to have some draw like a new character to keep viewers interested. During the last season (I think) Chip didn’t make a lot of appearances in comparison to prior seasons, if the series went on further I wonder if that would have continued, maybe there should have been a couple more Dodie featured episodes?
  20. @suzeecat I am in agreement with Laura and Jeff’s decision to stay separate as well. IIRC listening to Jeff telling the others this he does not specify whether or not the additional days are before or after the main groups started, only that they’re going at a slower pace. If any of the others think a pair of elite survivalists can help carry them along to the end when they’re weak should really think seriously about being there in the first place. I am waiting for that boat (which has been taking on water) to become a source of contention amongst the others due to the ability to catch nice fish.
  21. I agree too! Jake should have been part of the redemption team instead of one of the others - I figure he would have heeded the warnings about the fruit in last Sunday’s episode given his experience with the fruit coated with monkey piss during his XL challenge in Africa.
  22. @Eataton and @little hermit There is a Forum FAQ guide where you can find out how to quote posts, delete stuff, etc can be found - it’s under the “Browse Forums” tab at the top of the page. You may need to do some scrolling to find it but it’s there. About the show - yes, whenever one of the other groups meet Jeff and Laura and are told sorry, we are not merging with you, they should be looking at what Jeff and Laura have done already. That’s what is available in the area. They should be going out and getting the food/material themselves. I don’t see any reason for these people to merge anyway if there is still a decent number of people in each group. Later on toward the end it might make more sense if enough tap out but a group of 10 is too large. If they do it gives some of incentive to sit around all day and be lazy while some designated person or two provides food.
  23. I watched “Happy Birthday World” this morning and I was amazed at house fast Robbie was able to get this business started and running with so many employees and cake orders that Uncle Charlie barely keeps up. Where do they find all of these people all of a sudden, a lot of them kids? I assume Robbie’s customers were paying as that never came up - the Leave it to Beaver episode that followed had Wally getting a job selling ice cream only to be taken advantage of by friends and other kids in the neighborhood who don’t pay.
  24. @little hermit I think it has to be at least 25 days left and to your point I agree. Many of those bananas will be mush at the end, even those very green ones they picked when they first got there. I think Jeff’s unwillingness to share brings a good wrinkle to the challenge. Since he did mostly the same thing last time (not join the others even though he did share the eels he caught) the producers had to know he’d pull this again as well. He is obviously there for himself and at most one other person (who happens to be very capable on her own) so in his book, no others are invited. Quite a dichotomy to Matt Wright who was eager to share what he caught with the others, but he was also looking for companionship on his last XL challenge. Thinking again about the question is this scripted or not, Jeff’s unwillingness to share and pairing him with Laura for 60 days may be just that.
  25. Yeah, they have a lot of bananas and Jeff said that would take them to the end so who knows how many they’re eating each day. Even though James, Gabrielle and Duke helped themselves I guess it was only right for them to have a few since they have to build their own shelter after that treacherous swim. Then they can go off to find some of their own. What I’d find interesting if this time more team merges take place much later than usual due to Laura and Jeff’s go it alone strategy. Who knows how much exploring Rylie will do on her own (to find food or someone else) or if either of the other teams find her or she decides to tap out due to the monumental task of being alone for more than half the challenge. I kind of saw Russell’s predicament coming due to the warnings from everyone else and the coming attractions. I was also concerned for Max when he went off alone for the coconuts - I must have missed something because I think at least one other person should have gone with him.
