  1. Tapioca pudding. I never ate it as a kid (didn't like the look of it...typical kid!). I can make a bowl of it and if I'm not careful, I'll eat the whole bowl while it's still warm.
  2. Good God a'mighty! I knew Pence was a lightweight but that truly is frightening (actually, I don't think he has the u-know-whats to be another Cheney).
  3. I'm from the Hudson Valley and every fall we'd visit orchards around our area (Dutchess County). Picking apples off the trees was a big thrill for my sister & me. But I don't make apple pie totally from scratch...just can't make that crust (so I use Pillsbury's crusts--or make apple crisp!!). To foreigners, a Yankee is an American. To Americans, a Yankee is a Northerner. To Northerners, a Yankee is an Easterner. To Easterners, a Yankee is a New Englander. To New Englanders, a Yankee is a Vermonter. And in Vermont, a Yankee is somebody who eats pie for breakfast. - Attributed to E.B. White
  4. I watched the show tonight (wasn't going to but got curious) and found it interesting. At least Lou Smits wasn't on (the retired cop who prayed with John and Patsy!). It looks like they're focusing on Burke. It'll be interesting to see how they handle their accusation of the murderer on tomorrow's show.
  5. Mild banana pepper rings in a sandwich. I'd never had them before (except in salads) but a delivery order of a steak/cheese panini had them in a little cup and I put them in the sandwich. Eureka! So I bought a jar (Mt. Olive brand) and have been putting them in sandwiches ever since (even grilled cheese...that was nice!)
  6. I never saw War Room but as soon as I heard Bill Hader's "accent", I knew who he was supposed to be. Had to read an article about The Bunker to learn that Fred was paying George Stephanopolis. Hader can effortlessly slip into such a wide variety of characters. That talent of his reminds me of Dan Akroyd.
  7. You beat me to the punch about the lawn jockeys. I thought they were going to hop out and steal signs. When I saw the first lawn jockey....aw geez, perfect! I love these guys. They really know how to skewer certain people but in a funny way, not mean.
  8. Tonight's supper is California Pizza Kitchen's Sedona Tortilla Soup...with some avocado slices and taco chips on the side.
  9. Did anyone watch the program on PBS tonight about Churchill having a stroke in 1953 and it was kept hidden from the public? How eerie is that (being on TV the same day as HRC's incident)? Back in those days you could keep an awful lot of secrets. They even had a meeting with the top newspaper "barons" who agreed to keep a lid on this news.
  10. Good grief, if any candidate looks unhealthy it's The Donald. Fat, bloated face, eats fast food. There's plenty to worry about health-wise with this guy (aside from his frightening mental health). I hope Hillary rests for a few days and allows the antibiotics to do their magic. I know I would've been having problems standing in a crowd in the sun for 90 minutes, wearing a suit, and I'm not recuperating from pneumonia. I'm glad her physician made a statement.
  11. Uh-oh...Polovetsian Dances. I seem to recall some bad experiences to that music (which seemed to go on & on as the skater(s) kept falling forever).
  12. Counting the days (hours?) until Season 2 begins! I love these two characters...SNL's great loss.
  13. Oh no...I'm going to be in the middle of a road trip (checking out fall foliage in New York/New England). I'll watch for a repeat of this episode but know I'll get some reviews from my P-TV friends :>)
  14. Aye yai yai...I can't take it any more. Ethalfrida--pass me the smelling salts cause I have passed out!!!
  15. Whew! I just finished reading all these posts (shuddering an awful lot). Y'all are creative and though I couldn't eat what you've described, I did get a kick out of the crazy combinations. I kept trying to think of anything odd that I ate and all I could think of is (a memory from childhood of) putting salt and pepper on applesauce when it was on the same plate as a pork chop and finding it tasted good. When I was a kid, my mom would saute chicken livers & the cut up heart with onions and put it on Ritz crackers for my dad and me. We loved it (I still do but think it's not a good idea to eat that any more). Something I've enjoyed over the years is my mom's creation: eating a crispy cold apple with a Mounds or Almond Joy. As a Swedish-American, I can eat pickled herring on Vasa crispbread (lots of folks can't). Other than that, I guess I'm boring culinarily speaking.
  16. Loved it when Carla's oldest child, Ant-ny comes into the bar with his sassy girlfriend who addresses Carla as Mother Tortelli. And, of course, I always loved it when Carla and her ex husband had scenes together. Great writing (where did all the wonderful writers of these old classic sitcoms go?)
  17. I can't find any reruns of DW & I just love the early years shows. Suzanne is my favorite, especially her crazy shenanigans with poor ol' Anthony.
  18. Oh yeah! I cannot take that constant little smile. Who talks while they're smiling nonstop? I watched the show for the first time in for-evahhh the other day (was desperate for something to watch) and while she was cooking/explaining, I wondered if she ever had a serious look on her face--like maybe in mid-childbirth? Can't you just see her screaming in labor pain but still with that silly little grin on her face? So anyway, they had a competition going on out in the south 40 between her family and her brother in law's family. As they were scampering around the pasture trying to outdo each other in sack races and other nonsense, I looked out at the distant horizon and wondered: how can anyone live out there in the middle of nowhere? Back on topic: the brisket she made looked delicious and I think the onion "strings" might have been good (not sure). Dessert was ice cream in between two cookies which could be good.
  19. Well, happy birthday, biakbiak! Enjoy as many yummy foods as you like during this special time :>)
  20. I read the book for my book club. We all found it emotionally draining. Think I'll skip the movie.
  21. For some odd reason, I recently watched Brunch with Bobby. Katie Lee was on (that woman's voice is just horrible!) and she made her lemon-deviled eggs with fried oysters. Wow...I've been salivating ever since. Am recuperating from rotator cuff surgery so once I'm outta this sling, I'm making this dish (going to only halve the number of eggs but do the full amount of fried oysters). Bobby was actually decent on this show. Maybe he's gotten the word!
  22. My idea of birthday cake is devil's food cake with vanilla buttercream frosting...the simple things in life are quite nice!
  23. I just saw the LIOLI that took place in Raleigh last June. Two men, one of them a chef (who was quite upset with Hillary!) and a house with all kinds of nasty unseen issues (like ancient sewer and water pipes that would cost a FORTUNE to replace, etc.,). They didn't even have a garage and lived in an old section of the city. In a way, it was the most uncomfortable episode for me to watch because the chef was really getting angrier and angrier. Then, the phone rang and I couldn't get off (long distance from a far away cousin) so I don't really know for sure if they were going to love it or list it. I hope to heck they got out of that house.
  24. I just finished Seinfeldia and loved it (of course!).
  25. This is why I was concerned when I first saw that HG was in the movie--but I've seen clips and he looks different...not his usual bumbling, inebriated fool role. Can't wait to see this.
