  1. I loved S1 and like someone else here posted, wish subsequent seasons had picked up on the remaining (& still alive!) characters. Need to rewatch it as all I can now recall are some bizarre scenes (e.g., shoot-out in a bldg while FBi agents are sitting in a car outside arguing; l think that was Key & Peele πŸ˜„). To this day, I feel uncomfortable whenever I see a wood chipper.
  2. Leave The Gun, Take The Cannoli: the epic story of the making of The Godfather, by Mark Seal.
  3. That sounds like the guy on Jeopardy with the little mustache, and hair parted on the side and slicked down.
  4. Are we talking about TWOP with all new moderators, or Primetimer? I thought someone was saying that TWOP had to bring in new mods as the previous ones were so awful (not long before TWOP shut down for good). That's what I was reacting to. I thought Primetimer was shut down for a week for just for technical problems.
  5. When did the new moderating team arrive? I was being so cautious toward the end...maybe I didn't notice. TWOP was not fun--not after you were suspended and/or received a warning. Primetimer has been wonderful, IMO.
  6. What a sweet face on FooFoo. I'm so sorry ❀️
  7. An interesting interview with Adam Siao Him Fa: https://adivinesport.com/2024/04/19/adam-siao-him-fa-i-want-to-skate-in-a-way-that-no-one-did-before/
  8. The discussion re: beets got me remembering this beet recipe that is very good. I found it in a Middle Eastern cookbook several years ago: Beets with Yogurt & Mint 3 beets (1/4-1/2 lb) roasted, cooled* Β½ garlic clove, crushed Β½ cup Greek yogurt Β½ Tbsp fresh lemon juice 1-1/2 Tbsps light olive oil Salt Chopped mint Peel** beets and cut into ½” or less slices, or half moon slices. Beat garlic into yogurt and spread on a plate. Arrange beet slices on top. Beat lemon juice with oil and a little salt, stir in chopped mint, and spoon over beet slices. ***************************************************************************** *Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Scrub beets; place on foil. Drizzle beets with oil and sprinkle with salt. Fold foil over and make it into a packet. Crimp sides. Roast for 1 hour. **Wear gloves while working with beets.
  9. My middle name is ellipsis! I'm surprised I wasn't banned for life at twop...πŸ™„ @peacheslatour Great minds run in the same circle. I use a neutral name on Reddit (but I'm only hanging out at the Seinfeld section...those posters make me laugh!) At the Washington Post, I use initials & an area code. Back before AOL started moderating comments, it was too dangerous to let anyone know you were female. The men were vicious. Again, I used initials and frequently was addressed as "Sir" followed by indignant responses to my posts...😁
  10. Having seen two ads recently that made me laugh...I wonder if ad agencies ever hire comedians (or comedian-wannabes) 😁.
  11. Aww... that's too bad, cause we need some activity at the figure skating site. It picks up during the Olympics, but then slows way down afterward.
  12. I was suspended for two weeks because I had questioned a board decision. I received a warning after I'd recommended a menopause website to someone who was suffering from hot flashes.
  13. I was just scrolling through the 2014 ice dance comments and saw familiar names: quof, chicksdigscars, GoodQueenJane, avaleigh. Can't believe I didn't see my name. I loved how chicksdigscars eviscerated Scott Moir for his attitude. So, when did TWOP close down?
  14. That's a mighty evil looking TV. I can no longer remember what it was like there.
  15. I've always liked Alex and respect her culinary skills & knowledge. I'd rather have her in the Kitchen than Katie Lee or Sunny (neither of whom is a chef...an Iron Chef).
  16. The first time I ever saw Kimball, my immediate reaction was, "This drip looks like a few miserable blind dates I was fixed up with".
  17. Just saw an ad for Etsy that made me laugh. It takes place in the late 1800's. An official looks out a window, sees the Statue of Liberty and says something like, "Great! Now we have to get *them* something" 😁.
  18. Back in 2001, I had just arrived in Stockholm & wasn't feeling well. The hotel staff sent me to a special drug store for info' or advice. I went there & they told me to go to a clinic at 5 PM. I went, had tests done & saw a (very cute!) doctor. He wanted to prescribe an antibiotic so I got out my list of the ones I can handle. But they were brand names & he needed the pharmaceutical name. He gave me a Rx for one (costs me $12.00) but I felt woozy the next day. Did some research on the hotel's computer (pre-laptop, smartphone) & got the generic names of the drugs I took at home. Went back the next day & got a familiar Rx ($12.00 again, thank you Sweden! πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ) and had a good vacation. After that I've always traveled with a list of Rx's with the proper names.
  19. Yes!!!! I think she lived in San Francisco. I've missed her posts. Who knows, maybe she was hired as a chef...her meals sounded *that good* πŸ™‚
  20. Trapper John was married? And had a child? I had no idea.
  21. @kristen111 πŸ€žπŸ™πŸ€ that they find out asap what's causing his misery. If the doctors can't figure it out, maybe try one of those homeopathic specialists. A former hairdresser kept getting sick & no one could figure out why. I believe she went everywhere, had tests done...nada! So I had to move on to another hairdresser as she was ill, no longer accepting appts. We were no longer in touch. A couple years later, I called a wig shop to schedule an appt (wanted a wig just for the heck of it). I was stunned when the person who answered said she was my former hairdresser. She said she finally went to some type of homeopathic specialist for help and was told the chemicals in hair dyes were causing her to be sick. She quit the profession and became a vegan or vegetarian...and got well. She looked great & was so happy and relieved to be healthy at long last.
  22. Isn't there a drug one can take for frequent nighttime urination?
  23. I started roasting fresh beets after reading that Joanne Weir says that roasting gets rid of that earthy flavor. Yup...I finally got smart and started wearing gloves while working with beets. My cutting board is wood so I scrub it with Ajax and/or a Brillo pad, and that gets rid of the beet stains. Her beet soup is very good: Oven Roasted Beet Soup with Watercress.
  24. I loved The Rockford Files. The writing, the character actors, James Garner, the opening credits music, the stories. "Angel" was my favorite of Jimmy's pals. That show + LA Law, Hill Street Blues, Designing Women, MTM Show, The Lou Grant Show...why aren't there shows like these on TV today? Or. are they on premium channels only?
  25. I am too and it's boring. Did anyone here ever frequent Gail's Recipe Swap? That got to be a real community after a while. Then it disappeared (but it could've resurrected itself with a new name). I got a few good recipes from some of those folks.
