  1. Click on the 3 dots on the upper right of the unwanted anecdotes. It should show a screen with options: see more like this, see less like this, block so & so, etc. That's what I do with unwanted posts from whatever. I don't know if this is similar to what you're dealing with but it might show you how to avoid getting these things.
  2. I made the Soup Nazi's Mulligatawny Soup for supper. Then I made Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. MrP914 had two helpings of each (but he can get away with stuff like this because he walks 3 miles 😵‍💫 every other day and has no weight problems at all). This dessert was a splurge for us and geez, it was so good!
  3. @Mindthinkr I somehow missed this post. I am so sorry that your beautiful BB has moved over the Rainbow Bridge. People who don't have these wonderful 4 legged family members don't understand what a crushing heartache their loss is to us, their "parents". Wow...20.5 years old. You were fortunate to have him for so long. When our Maine CoonCat had to be helped OTRB, we were comforted by people (including the vet & staff) saying that we had a hand in our fur baby reaching 20.5. I hope someone told you the same. As we know, grief is the price we pay for having love in our lives. I wish you lots of comforting, good memories. 💙😽
  4. If I don't recognize the number on our caller ID, I let it go to voicemail and immediately pick up when they announce who they are & I recognize the name and/or the practice.
  5. I love landlines. Almost everyone who calls me on cellphones sounds like they're in a cave, or in an echo chamber, or holding a hand over the mouth. They all have different brands. We have caller ID and use the NoMoRobo call service. So the spam calls usually ring once. Occasionally we get a spam call that rings the 4 times before voice mail picks up. They hang up by the 4th ring. Jerks. What kind of lowlifes make these calls?
  6. @peacheslatour She's thinking, deeply. Such a beautiful cat.
  7. I entered my big B&W Maine Cooncat mix in Washingtonian magazine's Cutest Cat contest (entry fee? the annual subscription fee, but what the hey!) I sent out campaign style emails to my relatives asking for their votes, saying that Zoe will work for peace and tranquility on Earth 😸). I also added her campaign flag: 🏁...fitting for a Tuxedo cat. The contestants are so cute & I like that so many of them are rescues (some from alleys, some from shelters like mine). Whose slogan was "a chicken in every pot"? Zoe's is a Whiskers treat in every pot.
  8. I did that not too long ago. Fortunately, I was home alone. But the worst thing is, asking a store employee where a product is and (s)he points at the shelf right beside you. That happened to me *once* (& you know I wanted the earth to open up & swallow me!) A year later, I was in the same supermarket and a customer asked me where a product was. I pointed at it. Of course she was embarrassed. But I told her at least it was just me (similar age woman) and not a young store employee, (as I'd experienced). I rarely ask employees where anything is if I'm standing in the appropriate aisle 😁.
  9. For sarcasm, just put a /s at the end of your last sentence. That's what they do in the comments section of the Washington Post.
  10. Is there such a beverage as an orange creamsickle? Without alcohol in it? I'm looking for something similar to Starbucks Pink Drink, but is a creamy orange creation. It would taste like a liquid version of those Creamsickles I loved as a kid. I've been searching but everything has lemon-lime soda in it 🧐.
  11. Our son-in-law's mother fell for this horrid scam about 3 years ago. She never called her son's family (they live 3 hours away), just went to Walmart & sent cash. She got another call the next day and once again (no call to the family!) went back to Walmart to send more cash. The employees got suspicious & called the police. She was very embarrassed (and she didn't have dementia or anything like that). So, I really like this cool response to a lowlife. Good goin', @kristen111 🎉
  12. Hmmm...Soto left the Nats (😩) and first went to San Diego. He is sorely missed. Love the cleats!!
  13. I need to figure this out because I already "gift" shared the link with my sister. In the meantime, you might want to look up "My Beloved Monster" by Caleb Carr. It's about this author and the wildish cat he rescued from a shelter (it was a Siberian Forest Cat...one of the big "northern" cats like Maine Cooncats and Norwegian Forest Cats). They both had very rough early lives, but he said they healed each other.
  14. I hope this link works. The review is excellent but the comments under the article are wonderful! All from cat lovers, sharing briefly their stories or memories of great cats. Don't know if I can read this book (just reading the review made my eyes get a bit watery). https://www.washingtonpost.com/books/2024/04/14/caleb-carr-cat-monster-book-review/
  15. I was searching for a good almond sorta- granola cereal but couldn't find it. I used to find it at Wegmans, but no longer. So I bought a box of Kashi (??) almond cereal. When I opened the box and popped a small handful in my mouth...🤮. It tasted like OTT stale cereal. I threw it out & recycled the box. Took forever to get that rancid, oil taste out of my mouth.
  16. Love this recipe! Thanks for sharing. And orange zest is definitely what I'll use 🍊
  17. @Gramto6 They don't care. They sit back and let that DD&D, or whatever Fieri's show is called, haul in the advertising bucks. And their neverending competitions fill almost all the other hours. A few folks have true cooking shows. I've said too many times how much I miss the original, tranquil BC show. Ina covered everything: cooking instructions, tips on herbs, *simple* but elegant flower arrangements, and how to create a serene dining table setting (don't iron the napkin folds 🩷). OK...I feel better. I've vented 😁
  18. You & me both! It's safer to just check the website to see if the recipes are appealing. I watched the show last Sunday. Katie Lee made a no-bake dessert. When she listed the ingredients: graham crackers, frozen whipped topping (Cool Whip), & instant French vanilla pudding (🤢), I went on alert. I couldn't wait to see if GZ would eat this awful concoction. The camera wasn't on him very much & he had his arm hiding his plate. I don't blame him for not wanting to eat it. But once again, he should've been supportive & been seen taking a bite. It's way past time to change the cooks/chefs on this show.
  19. This was known as the Wrap (of Worlds). It had nothing to do with the gala. I put it on my calendar so I wouldn't miss it. And yes, at the start of showing the top skaters in the men's LP, they showed Adam's astounding leap from 19th in the SP standings, to 1st place in the LP...until Kagayama and then Ilia skated. Adam is competition for Ilia as he has the artistry on top of his 4 quads (he's probably right now working on adding two more quads!) I disliked Impossible Dream when it first came out, found it boring. Jason needs to have two interesting programs next season if he plans to continue competing (some of us are spoiled after Sinnerman & the Irish step dancing number 😁).
  20. Can you hit "spam"? That's what I do with emails from sources I've had nothing to do with (this is usually in my own subaccount, the one I use when registering at websites). I only use our joint email address to register with the NY Times & the Washington Post.
  21. I missed the first 45 minutes today. In pairs, I really like the German team. For me, the best program in this wrap was G/P's Wuthering Heights FD. Those screeching violins brought back scary memories of the original Psycho. That music and the dramatic presentation + their lifts kept me glued to their every move. I hit the mute for Jason's LP. Ilia's championship performance was again so much fun to watch. It's also great to see his coach/dad's excited reaction to that LP.
  22. I had this problem 2 hours ago. Lots of posts from people I never heard of. Also from some blogs. What I do when this occasionally happens: Click on 3 dots above post. When it opens, click on "show less". The picture returns and I click on the 3 dots again, then click on "block..." the source. That gets rid of the uninvited posted picture. If anyone has a better system, please share. I had to do this on about 10 pictures. I don't know why...my Facebook is private, only seen by "friends".
  23. I'm submitting my application to the Anybody But Yogesh Club. James was never a favorite of mine, but I'll be cheering him on (& all the others), hoping somebody will provide an early exit to Mr. Charm.
