  1. Nashville, I really appreciated your reply. Thank you for clearly explaining the different focus used in video game vs tv show. I am not a fan of the zombie genre nor of the video game but was curious because there had been a lot of positive comments about this episode. Most of this thread was devoted to how good the acting was and how well the love story was told in a single episode. A post on the preceding page alludes to episode three as not furthering the plot but there were no comments on it. I could see that if the entire series is basically about love and lost love this episode is an exploration of having a rich and fulfilling life within a relatively short time frame.
  2. Amazing that you thought you recognized the actor. I never would have because of the hair and beard as well as the difference in mannerisms. (I know, good acting.) My bf is a huge fan of science fiction and zombie books and movies. I am not but watched this episode because I had heard good reviews of it. I thought it was a well crafted and acted episode. The bf is not a gamer but had watched the first two episodes. Throughout the hour he was saying that he failed to see how that story arc advanced the plot. Can anyone elucidate?
  3. It wasn't actually that long ago. I have travelled quite a bit by ship and recall the days when there was ship's stationary and even a mailbox in the reading room. Of course, the letters were mailed from the next port so sometimes the traveller arrived before the letter. . Within recent memory several of the Holland America ships had libraries. BUT, if you want to experience the largest library at sea as well as floor to ceiling windows and leather chairs and couches try the Queen Mary 2.
  4. They must still be paying the same rate as when the apartment was occupied.
  5. I'm so sad for you Hana. I share similar sadness at this time of year. My husband and I said good bye to our beloved pup the day before Christmas Eve and then, a few years later he told me there was "someone else".
  6. I couldn't agree more. He seems to have bought into the shtick of being the "stud of the sea". I've posted before that his folksy aphorisms were getting on my nerves and had ceased to be funny or shocking. That said, he has no business captaining a mega yacht. He doesn't look well. His eyes are dead and he looks depressed and in discomfort. Barking "God damn it " doesn't equate with being a leader.
  7. Babs passed away last night with Glenn, Hunter, and Whitney by her side. The latter has more details on her insta but she did mention that Babs had a condition which resulted in numerous brain bleeds which also led to cerebral hemhorrages. She had another event in November.
  8. While it probably is true this has not been confirmed. The story was posted by the moderator of a subreddit, and is cited in the article. To be fair a lot of what has been posted by that moderator has been proven to be true. So, time will tell. Seeing the big fat fabulous toddler throwing a tantrum would be something to behold. We've seen how she acts when jealous. I can only imagine if the half sibling had been a girl.
  9. I think the two vans behind the cyclists were part of the production team. The first to transport the cyclists and the bicycles up to the starting point the second with photographers and the drone operator. I'm sure they were there to keep the cast safe for short stretches on the road. I love Norway having bicycled with my boyfriend from Bergen to Oslo when I was younger. My current bf and I travel by ship quite frequently and take either our folding kayaks or folding bikes on board with us so we can explore while in port. After seeing this episode I have started looking for taxis which could transport us to the top of Trollstigen. So far have found that it is a popular cycling route "only six 1/2 miles with a 7.8% gradient" but I'm older and lazier now. Former husband and I did Hardknott pass on our tandem but that was shorter and less of a gradient. Yep it will be a taxi to the top for us. Can Americans please stop screaming while they are experiencing a foreign country? This lot was no different and is a bad look. "
  10. My theory on this is similar to the reason she made the statement that she approves of Buddy's fiance and is happy that they are engaged. She has to be superior to all of her friends and to never appear to be less than them. If she didn't approve there isn't anything she can do about it she knows she has met her match and doesn't want to appear to lose. Tal is a trained therapist (of sorts) Whitney knows he could easily point out that while he has done the work and is in recovery she has not. She would lose status if that occurred. She knows that Buddy and Lennie would never dare to call her out so she abuses them to elevate herself and increase her feelings of self worth.
  11. I doubt that Whitney ever skips breakfast so I was worried whether she could keep it down on that bumpy boat ride to the mud baths. But then, there was the banana boat incident which I could have done without. At the formal dinner on the beach I thought I saw her making the toast with a glass in one hand and a full fork full of food in the other. I couldn't quite believe my eyes but then, the editors replayed it, indicating to me once again that they really like showing her at her worst.
  12. Can someone remind me of the origin of the Blowpoke reference? Was it one of those true crimes perhaps the one about the woman who fell down the stairs and there was a massive amount of blood which couldn't be directly attributed to a fall but rather a beating with a Blow poke which the husband owned?
  13. I was impressed how vigorously she was dancing with that one native guy at the "giant block party". It looked quite aerobic and she was able to keep it up for a few steps without the camera cutting away. How could she do that yet have trouble getting on the jetski?
  14. She has needed to be the center of attention since she was about 6 or 7. She had posted a video Glenn took at a family picnic. She started an interpretive dance and definitely was in "stop what you are doing and pay more attention to me" mode. During the first season of her show she became annoyed that Babs and Glen complimented Todd on his dancing and they hadn't complimented her. Keep in mind that this performance was in their back yard and there was an audience of TWO! Now I am beginning to think that her parents had realized that they had raised a totally useless individual and that they should encourage her in whatever endeavor she could develop to support herself.
  15. Thanks for your well reasoned reply. I have travelled by ship many times, just not to the Caribbean or Mexico. I know that a passport is required to disembark in Bermuda. Perhaps the regs have been tightened up since those NoBS at Sea junkets occurred. If Heather had stayed on board I think she would have been permitted to go, now I can't remember if she went swimming or hiking with the group. For those of you who haven't seen the videos that Twit posted to SM I hope you can find them. Not only Buddy playing the flute, Twit aggressively twerking and dancing senshusly with one of the guests, in a dance off, her recuperating from a broken toe on her balcony, the fashion show with the other big girls. I can't remember what Twit was doing or wearing but of course, it was over the top.
  16. I am confused about Heather's passport status. Didn't she have to have one for the NoBS Cruise a few years ago? It hasn't been ten years so it wouldn't have expired by now. The cruise wasn't part of the show but Whitney posted plenty of content about it on SM. There were at least two cruises and one was in the Caribbean (site of Glenn hugging the palm tree wearing only his bathing suit.) Also the cruise was the occasion for Twit to pose either nude or topless with Tal on her ship's balcony. That photo can be seen in earlier seasons in the hallway of her house. While "the stah" had either a mini-suite or balcony cabin Buddy was relegated to a tiny windowless cabin. Don't feel too bad for him he had his "penis flute" that he bought during one of the stops to keep him entertained..
  17. Rotten banana at her mother and medicine ball directly at her mother's face without any notice.
  18. I think there is an aspirational element to it. If they form a parasocial relationship and are drawn into her orbit they may begin to live the same life as her.
  19. Why the he** doesn't Glenn intervene when he has heard her be so disrespectful? He may not have been within earshot for the two instances which were filmed but it can't be that she has done it only twice. He should have shut that kind of nonsense down a long time ago along with the photo of him over her bed. It's not exactly as if she would shut him out of her life (as Meghan did for Thomas Markle). She's far too enmeshed to ever do that.
  20. That is entirely possible. I will have to look for the article I read somewhere around 2015. Interesting that they may have changed.
  21. I was once a faithful viewer of the GBBO but when Mary Berry left I did as well. I had seen articles about the new cast and especially that most people did not find Matt to be funny. Apologies if this has been discussed in previous seasons but he and David Walliams were in a sketch comedy show called Little Britain which I absolutely loved.. His alopecia really was useful when it came to dressing in drag. If you haven't seen it I think some sketches can be fond on YouTube. I just tuned in to the current season and could not believe how much weight Matt had lost. I don't think some of my favorite characters that he played would be as funny unless he wore a fat suit. Namely Vicky Pollard, Marjorie Dawes of Fat Fighters and the LADIES who were in full Victorian costume but had facial hair.
  22. Several years ago I read an article about the workings of the show. There is a large staff behind the room that we are shown who are constantly washing the vessels and implements that the contestants use. There was a real concern about the dishwashing making noise which would be picked up on the mikes. Something I never thought about was that the artist's rendering is done after the bake has been completed not in anticipation that it would turn out well. You could say that there is some artistic license since some disasters look nothing like the illustration. What I found especially interesting is that there were one or two people on the set to run to the grocers if someone had to redo their bake since it would have been expensive to have two or three times the amount of an exotic ingredient on hand.
  23. Feeling a bit like the WWT historian here. Someone who had gone to high school with her has posted to Reddit in the past. She said that Twit hung out with the drama kids and was always "extra". Which leads me to surmise that it was the drama kids who nominated her for prom queen. I feel that they banded together to have one of their own competing with the cheerleaders.
  24. I am almost certain that she wrote IN HER OWN BOOK that she was NOT the prom queen. She was nominated but did not win. Thus, a princess. If she had been queen you could be sure the photo she would be circulating would be her, the prom king and her court instead of one taken by her parents at a later date. She is not even wearing her prom gown in the latter, it is hanging on a door in the background while she is dressed casually, holding flowers, and wearing her "whittle tiara".
  25. Haven't seen it yet but it is likely. "The loving daughter" called out her mother attempting to do something with her "stroke hand" when they were in Maine. The dislike I have of this overgrown toddler has no bounds. She uses every opportunity to expose other's weaknesses while laughing about them..
