Matt Gaetz will not disappear for the simple reason (apparently) that he only resigned from this session of the house(?) & was re-elected by his constituents for next term in the elections that just took place so he can just take his seat in January if he is not confirmed. But he will be confirmed because the Rs saying he isn't fit to serve will fall into line as soon as there's a vote that has their name attached to it for the simple reason that they're all scared of the orange felon. Agree - I am trying to stay away from the news, but it does come up, as in The View. Other pundits have done their punditing and I am convinced that all the appointments will go through, whether on recess appointment or not, and that we should get ready for the rest of it. It will happen. How in world can anyone prepare for this besides hoarding food? I wish Sara would ask Alyssa that.

Agree. I have thought for a long time that there is too much punditry to fill the 24 news cycle. Rehash, restate, etc. And all the pundits and their analysis on the criminal cases were All Wrong even before the election. So, therefore, I don't bother with it anymore.

Oh okay. It merged my comments and I'm not great at sorting all that out.

He had a heart transplant back when. so it is someone else's! I am almost done listening to Hillary Clinton's latest book. She reads it. It is really compelling to me, for the personal and professional included. Towards the end she does a deep dive into what a second 47 presidency would look like if all the guard rails stayed off and if no one else became the opposition or the resistance. Scary. I am staying away from the news, and hope there are enough resisters to help.

I am reading on here and not commenting. It is an interesting discussion. I think sometimes people can choose to change their behavior, as in not saying what they truly think or believe, but, don't change their minds/thoughts, etc. The part that they don't say. So someone can say all the right things out loud and still harbor and act on the other thoughts. And sometimes people change their minds/thoughts, and then their behavior change is genuine.

For sure. I asked the ChatGPT and this is the answer. I am thinking people skirt by these requirements or there aren't enough people to enforce, or there are strong lobbies to officials to keep their people because of cheap labor or no one else to work. It will be a nightmare all around. Folks who think prices are coming down will be sadly disappointed when there are no workers and supply goes down. https://chatgpt.com

I am thinking that at some point many of the "regular" people who voted for him will begin to wonder what is going on. A case of be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

I will just say I have loved all my iPhones. I am sad to hear you are having phone problems. If my house were on fire I would try and put my glasses on, take my hearing aids, one card that Sweet Son wrote me and my iPhone. And if nothing else, my iPhone! I got a lanyard so I can wear it and never be without it. We have an unhealthy relationship! -
Can I ask why some people still say "Democrat party"? I think I know, but I've seen it on here. This isn't against any posters, but in general it has become a thing. I am guessing it is a form of disrespect? when I respond on any platform that says that, I say "Republic party", because yes, I am petty that way.

The honeymoon happened "moons" ago. Maybe one day we will find out where Truely stayed. -
Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

I used to color my hair for years. One time in the 90s I got one that made my hair eggplant colored! No worries. After a few weeks I colored it again. I like that Joy is experimenting. If she likes her choices or revisits them, that is good. She doesn't have to please us. I hope she doesn't think she has to please Austin, but, well...she probably wants to. -
I can't find the original post, but it asked why Buttigieg wasn't used as a surrogate. He was. He always made it clear when he was on as a surrogate or as Transportation Secretary. I do remember seeing him multiple times on various news sources and he has been on FOX many times and the comments are always "why do they let him on when he is so good at tearing down their arguments/comments, etc. I also agree with the poster who said the country isn't ready for a woman or a gay man. And, as the mother of a late "sweet son", gay, and Jewish, I doin't think the country is ready for a Jewish second gentlemen or VP as in Josh Shapiro. I base this on what goes on in my own life, what I hear, what people say to me, etc.

I'm wondering if she did that to be more comfortable at the gym, without considering or caring how it looked? I know my hair isn't its best at the gym but it is out of my face and away from machines. -
Then I stand corrected on that.

Sure - why not. Except it is on the basis of their views, not on something they were born as. Views can be changed. I'm sure we all have biases or prejudices for one thing or another. It doesn't have to be on ethnicity, race, gender, religion, etc.

I am sad and disappointed too. I just can't be friends or associate with anyone who voted for him. I have trouble being with them because I know where their values and beliefs are. Even if they are nice to my face and I am nice to theirs. This includes family members too. I will always be polite but not seek out or accept opportunities to be with them.

I thought so too, but the other day heard J. Michael Luttig, a well known conservative former judge, and he said that case of immunity applied specifically to DJT. Does anyone know if that is true?

We watch Bill's show because of his guests and the discussion. We saw him live here recently and it is a different live show than his TV show and we both enjoyed it very much. I can't compare to a live show back then, but, just what we saw. Plus, his hair was not slicked back!

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore

Wondering how much of Christine/David PDA is encouraged by the producers. Of course Christine could always say "no it embarrasses my children" but she doesn't. -

Totally agree -
We just started watching and mostly like it. What struck us was how dumb the script made the police look in the beginning. As if they never thought of any of that? But, it is a fun way to pass a part of an evening. We usually like procedurals.

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore

I said that in response to the comment about the commenters parents, not Christine and David. My own parents went from fighting to being affectionate. Parents in general are different. Mr. lookeyloo is my second husband and my children saw us being affectionate before we were married and they didn't appear scarred. There were comments about how people kiss on camera. Some of us have watched the Duggars. There are comnents about the way Jill and Derick kiss on camera as in "no chemistry", bad kissers, etc. I am just saying real life is different than what we see curated for the show or people's usually highly curated social media. In that we can make a statement about our own parents, but generally that does not apply across the board to all or even most or even some parents unless we can document it. Snarking is fun for what it is, but what we see is what we snark on, I guess. -
