WTF moments on the View

Moments that made you shake your head in disbelief.

I have several but one that really sticks out was quite a few years ago. They were talking about a horrible accident where a family driving back from a camping trip crashed.  The woman driving had a very high blood alcohol level. Whoopi tried to explain it as "Who hasn't downed a bottle of alcohol so as to not waste it?".

The most wtf moment for me was Whoopi's "rape-rape" comment. I couldn't believe she said it on live television. The whole Cosby thing with was just awful.  But her defense of Polanski with that comment was beyond disgusting.  I never saw her the same. Yeah she says things I might agree but, nope I can never really unhear that.

Is this the situation that became a documentary called, There is something wrong with Aunt Diane?

Whoopie harassing Paula on the air to the point a lot of us on here believed that she had a good case to sue Whoopie.

I didn't watch the View at that time. That was during the no Joy years.  But I read about it here and loved how all of you said Paula always kept her cool which really got under Whoopi's skin.

I also didn't watch during the no Joy time.

Paula keeping her cool during the harassment probably drove Whoopi crazy.

Joy was there and I loved her friendship with Paula. A conservative and liberal found common ground as human beings. Joy helping Paula do standup was a great demonstration of their bond.

Paula loved to get a reaction out of Whoopie and she never backed down when she disagreed with Whoopie. Rumor has it that Whoopie got her role reduced on the show.

Oh that is right. Joy came back the year before I started watching again.  I started watching when Meghan came on because I knew it would be trainwreck it has become.

Paula did have some views that made some of us cringe. She once said that she likes it when her husband puts her in place. Whoopie would also took it upon herself to tell Paula how to behave in her own marriage. Whoopie was just too much with her unsolicited advice.

I remember the stand up thing. I thought it was Sara. I remember Jeda,  Sara and Paula right before she left. Lol, it's all running together.

Sarah and Paula also had a nice vibe as well.. Jeda came after Paula and she too would stand up to Whoopie.. Jeda also bonded with the other ladies.  I think Sunny saw that pattern of what happens to those who defy Whoopie and has chosen a different way to deal with the all knowing Whoopie..

I remember another WTF moment.  Sort of.

Sunny was talking on a subject, I can't remember the actual subject but whatever it was pissed Whoopi off and whoopi said something like "you all can't complain when you all choose white lady hair." It was a wow, and definitely a shot a Sunny.

Like I said I was shocked, and I remember the look on sunny's face. She was also taken aback.

I actually loved that WTF moment, the look on Barbara's face was worth it. Star was awesome and it redeemed her off-putting behavior during the time she was going to marry AL.

I went back and forth on Star. At first I liked her. She was smart and seemed fun. Then hated her during her Bridezilla phase but her big fuck you to ABC and Barbara by announcing her departure early made me like her again.

She was the only co host who did not go quietly and I will always admire her for that.

The way Candace Crème-Brule and Raven Symoron acted when the man who played the little boy on Who's The Boss? (Danny Pintauro is his name, I think?) came on to talk about HIV/AIDS was extremely disgusting and unexpected.

Candace being booed off the stage during the After The View segments.

Whoopi's behavior towards Rosie O, Paula, and Sunny has always been WTF because she ends up arguing against them over things she's agreed with in the past just for the sake of arguing. And occasionally she still acts that way with Sunny. Like a week or two ago, they brought up how she lost on Jeopardy and it was a funny, lighthearted moment. Then the next day, Ana was there again and slipped it into a conversation. Sunny played up the joke again, "Why'd you have to bring that up again?" Everyone was laughing except for Whoopi of course, who decided to be a hateful bitch: "JUST TO PISS YOU OFF!!!" and threw to commercial. Jesus. How has the woman not had a heart attack already if she turns to burning rage over dumb things like that?

The day Kelly Osbourne co-hosted at the end of Rosie Perez's season is another one and then Perez was made to apologize for pushing back on her racist comments.

Anything with Whoopi and Cosby, particularly the day they had a "specialist" come on and explain things to Whoopi for damage control.

Hasselbeck during Bill Maher's interview. She wouldn't allow him to talk about anything else but her. Jeez. Barbara Walters during the interview with Bonnie Hunt.

During the Year of Barbara: Whoopi reads the prompter. Barbara reads the same thing after Whoopi's done speaking. lol

Joy punching Nene Leakes at the beginning of an interview. lmao

The whole nurse controversy that happened out of nothing at all. Michelle Collins wasn't even mocking the profession, just the woman herself.

Collins not even getting a send-off; just disappearing one day.

When Joy had just returned and they interviewed Lindsay Graham (who was running for prez at the time) in one of her first days back by skype or whatever. This was a funny one to me, but, wow, they scalped him. You could still see his face on camera as they broke to commercial and he just looked like WTH just happened.

But, honestly, it's WTF moments all the time since McCain came on. It's like if a pig with lipstick just showed up and started sitting at the table everyday and yet nobody ever mentions it. Nobody addresses how unprofessional she is. Nobody addresses her extreme privilege, how she contradicts herself daily, the hypocrisy involved with those in her personal life, etc. It's like one huge elephant in the room and they ignore it daily. Why even have this person at the table if honest conversation is off the table? Sort of how Star lied about her surgery and the rest of them had to go along with it like it was the truth.

And of course Star herself owned the original WTF moment when she announced her contract hadn't been renewed on-air and then wasn't there the next day.

There needs to be a YouTube channel of The View wtf moments. I missed some of these but would to see them all 😄

I went  looking for clips. I got sidetracked by all the different hosts. That I missed lol. I didnt realize Nicole Wallace was on with Raven and Candace . I was watching a clip of C and R arguing about the bakery refusing the Gay couple. And there is NW at the table. I remember she was on with Rosie Perez.  The show was really throwing everything at the wall  seeing what would stick.

For me, no WTF moment comes close to this:

Sherri doesn't believe in evolution, she takes the bible literally.

Asked if the world is flat, she says she never thought about it, she thinks about how she's going to feed her son.

Sherri had so many WTF moments. I can't remember the context but I remember her saying something about a woman being on her knees with regard to a man.  She was implying blow job.

I didn't like EH at that point but after she said that I despised her. I don't know if it was same discussion or not but she said she knew what it was like to struggle because she had Cobra insurance between jobs.  Oh you poor thing. How traumatic that must have been.

I only started watching since last year but I knew of the view because of 3 clips - Rosie/Elisabeth split screen, Sherri not knowing if the world was round or not, and the nothing predates Jesus clip.

Elizabeth defending Rush Limbaugh for saying that he hopes Obama fails as a President. She said that Liberals were attacking him because he was exercising his first amendment..

Elizabeth crying because she cannot say the N word and Whoopie telling her that Black people and White People have different lives in this country due to institutional racism.

Elizabeth equating her daughter having a black doll to racism that Black people face in this country. Elizabeth was a piece of work, she is marginally better than Megan but she was still awful.

Back in the day, when Sherri was new on the program, she kept saying "Shot his wad" over and over in reference to I don't know what. They came back on after commercial and she apologized saying she didn't understand the phrases true meaning. I was sitting there saying "WTF"? and that day I discovered online View watching groups. I needed to connect with someone so we could both say WTF? to each other.

Totally! Remember when she was yelling at Rosie O that people weren't racist, they were just "boneheads", and said "you as a white woman are trying to tell me what racism is!" or something? And then once Rosie has left, Whoopi basically started making the same arguments as Rosie was about racism. This is what she had Meghan have in common; a desperate need to win the conversation at all costs, even if it means massively contradicting yourself. I mean viewing a conversation as a fight is already such a WTF thing to do.

Anyone else remember when Whoopi was defending someone's racism yet again (may have been Mel Gibson, I'm not sure), and she started mocking people saying: "I have to tell y'all, I am a racist too. If you cut me off in your car, I'm going to look at what you are and call you all the names under the sun based on what you are" (I'm paraphrasing). And she was saying this like it's just normal and what everyone does, and I was thinking in no way do I identify with that. People are idiots to me when they do dumb things while driving, I would never think to call someone out because of their race. That was a WTF moment to me. I love that clip where Joan Rivers comes out and blasts Whoopi for defending Mel Gibson, by the way.

Whoopi would be unhappy with me though, because to imply someone is stupid is apparently the worst thing you can say to anyone ever. She has clearly been hurt by that in the past, as it's obvious she is completely insecure about her own knowledge, which makes her so aggressive in putting her point across, yelling over people and shutting people down.

Great thread! As @TheGreenKnight said, there are soooo many wtf moments. Thankfully you all have already mentioned many of them...

Just off the top of my head is the very heated exchange between Jeanine Pirro and Whoopi. The following day Whoopi verified the rumors about Jeanine being pissed because Joy wasn't there. I remember seeing the line-up for that week and I knew Pirro was gonna start some mess. Did they think bat-shit crazy Jeanine was going to suddenly turn sane for a 5-10 minute segment on a morning talk show?

Also, whenever Whoopi passes gas on national television.

One thing that shocked me about the documentary was that they showed several images of dead Aunt Diane who flew through the windshield and ended up in the ditch in a Superman pose.  Then I thought this despicable woman does not deserve to be treated with dignity.

Today's episode was a WTF moment and it reinforced my belief that Megan is not going anywhere.  Megan calling Joy a bitch with Whoopie excusing Megan's atrocious behavior including Joy who threw shade at the Talk. The only person who did not go along with the farce was Sunny who said that type of language has offended some viewers and Megan snidely replied that we were all precious. The irony is that this was coming from the biggest snowflake on TV..

I just watched the documentary.  Absolutely horrific.  When Whoopi made her comment about who doesn't finish off a bottle of alcohol before heading home it was right after it had happened.  Now we know the driver did in fact finish a bottle of vodka.

It's not the language that was offensive. It was Meghan calling a co worker that. And on TV no less.  It was very unprofessional.
