Is that EACH $500?  How about the realtor?

That's $500 and $1500 to the house hunters, not each, and the realtor just gets the publicity.

New episode 9/19/2024, Statesboro GA.   Husband doesn't want a big house, but he demands that all bedrooms have an ensuite.    Wife wants 3,000 sq ft or bigger.

Husband claims all of the houses have peaked roof lines, and that makes them cookie cutter. I'm not liking the storylines either.

YES! I noticed that too. I thought #3 was the one they bought since they brought him to it. What was up with the husband's dislike of triangles?

Lol.  Reminds me of my dislike of scalloping.  Wood decorative scallops, curtain valances that scallop.  I don't even like tie-backs as they make a scallop effect.  Of course, this is only in my home.  I rarely actually notice them in other houses unless it's overdone.

Now, scallops browned in butter... delicious.

My DVR is not hard to fool.  I don't remember every episode of HH (I have been watching since the beginning). But I definitely remembered The One With the Football - featuring a local Seahawks player. With the description of his commute and the facts about the house, I was able to easily find it on a certain well-known real estate site when it aired originally in 2019.

I really dislike the re-packaging of old episodes and marking them as new. It really messes with my memory. I "think" the two last night were new, I only watched the first

Houston, TX: 31 year old single guy, originally from El Salvador. He gave me creep vibes, simultaneously bragging about his lifestyle while appearing desperate for female attention.

He wanted something modern, within the interstate ring. Budget was somewhere around $400k. #1 remodeled ranch, 3 miles outside the ring. All back/white/grey. #2 3 story townhouse, 10 minutes outside the ring. Identical color scheme and fixtures. #3 another ranch, within the ring, smaller. I swear all three options had the same faux marble tile and black fixtures, like they were all built/flipped by the same contractor.

Anyhoo, he choose the townhouse despite his truck not fitting in garage. No worries, apparently he's so successful, he'll just buy a new car :)

Yep, he bugged. And yep, all bathrooms had very similar tile and fixtures. Knew he'd pick the modern. With Houston's weather, a garage would have been good. Little men in big trucks.....

Kentucky house hunter wife really didn't have any empathy toward her husband who was recovering from a stroke and had problems in dealing with steps.  She kept on pushing for a two story anyway because she just like them.

Louisville, Kentucky: Unlike a progressive disease like MS, recovering from a stroke means regaining mobility. It's hard work and if you don't push yourself, you lose that muscle memory & required strength. Like most of us, he didn't appear to be an athlete...

I assumed his wife was supporting the recovery plan with the two story house. Making using it to push him a bit. It's highly than likely that managing stairs are part of his rehabilitation plan.

That said, I didn't much care for any of their options.

Did HGTV throttle back their production of new episodes? They've seemingly increased the nights they're airing two old episodes bundled together and presented with a new original air date. It's confusing my DVR and annoying me.

That house had a lot of up/down stairs in more than one area without stair railings on some of them.  More than what you would normally do in rehab, especially if he had to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

Chicago area married youngish working couple wants out of city apartment. He works for the Bulls (unnamed bball team in Chicago;-) So she wants big, modern, suburban; he wants city charm with big tub!  They each want a getaway spot for hanging with friends. Sigh.

1. Big 4/3 house in Highland Park (North Shore) with big backyard for planting her grandfather’s prize flowers. One room had what they called a climbing wall—not meant for an adult and wife wanted to turn  something into a sensory room (cued by her job). Bad commute for him, not too bad for her.

2. Victorian in Roger’s Park (north side of city). Needs tons of work. Decent-sized and nice backyard. But only one bathroom and it’s upstairs. But really, Emily in Roger’s Park? No.

3. Middle territory in Skokie—3B/2B near her job, not horrible commute for him . Biggest kitchen, all newly remodeled, smallest backyard. Double sinks! No en-suite.

Shocker! You guessed it, #1 wins. Did I mention house 1 was near both of their families? Look for walls in kitchen to come down one day. Realtor was good.

Oy factor: Must have double sinks. He kept bitching about her (PRETTY) hair being everywhere in the bathroom. Then acted surprised when she took a shot at him.

Austin, TX: listen, I like watching Friends too, but these two made me cringe every time they referenced it. Assuming it was their bit to get "cast" but the continual jokes fell flat.

Two single women deciding to buy a house together. In addition, they also want it to have an ADU or room they can rent out for extra income. One wants craftsman, the other wants industrial loft. One wanted to spend $400k, the other willing to go up to $550k

Option 1: 3 bed/2bath ranch with a nice sized backyard. The realtor talks about how they could close off the primary bed suite and add an outside entrance, somehow making $2k/mo renting it out. Ok.

Option 2: 2 bedroom ranch, nearly $600k. It must've been in a great location because it was small & weird. They'd removed the entire ceiling so it was exposed plywood beams, like in a barn.

Option 3: 3-4 bed two story with an 1 bed ADU. Traditional, lots of carpet and wood trim.

They picked #1 and intend to add an ADU In the back.

I've never seen a single episode of "Friends," so I certainly didn't understand its references.  But what really got me was how two women were willing to act like idiotic teenagers in their desperate attempt to be on TV.

Thanks for the info @woofy. Cringeworthy HH's are my favorite. I have never watched Friends, so I'm sure the jokes will go over my head too.

Last night I watched such a cringey episode! Some guy, was he an opera singer? and his room mate, this ding dong young gal, they were awful. 'Oh the kitchen is okay, we don't need more, this is fine for all our take out menus!' And the whining about where his baby grande will go. Listen dude, if you must have a baby grande, then you need to be more flexible in terms of WHERE you look because you're not getting a baby grande in most windows or stairwells of brownstones. Gah! Insufferable is the word that came to mind. And then the realtor showed them a 3 br because it was more what they were after and I thought, oh that poor schmuck who moves in with these two numnuts!

The roommate was an Interior Designer. And he was her brother's partner for 11 years? That is how they know each other so well. She was a royal, entitled pain. He had unrealistic expectations. But luckily, inherited money. Yes, he was an opera singer and was out of the country a lot for work. But he wanted a real dining room table and chairs; had been eating...on the couch, I guess. One of the houses she gushed over did not have room for both the dining furniture and the grand piano. I think she said something like "we can go back to eating on the couch" ... or some such.  They never cook.

Moving that piano in. I think she said they would have to close off the street; and the cost would be $$$. A lot of the furniture would have to be moved in through the window. This is one of those episodes that I would love to see on "where are they now" or whatever that show used to be called.  Sure wish they would bring that back.

Anyone know when some new episodes are going to be shown?  It seems like there has been quit a while since I've seen one.

I set my DVR to record new episodes.  I see now that OWN is showing older HH episodes, but listing them as "new" on the comcast channel guide, so my DVR records them.  I've tried canceling those, and going on the HH episodes I do want recorded, and specified HGTV only, but not sure if that is successful yet.

Also noticed that HHI is not showing new episodes. ???

Same situation here with Cox in Phoenix.  There's not ONE new episode and my DVR behaves exactly as yours does.

For whatever reason, I noticed no NEW PROGRAMMING ON TLC.  Dr. Pimple Popper (that I enjoy) was cancelled.  Dr. Lee has a completely new series going to be produced for Lifetime TV, Little People, Big World was, of course, cancelled when Tori and Zach withdrew participation with their children, and My  600 lb life is in (seamingly) a perennial state of re-runs.

I see re-runs listed for shows, like "Four Weddings"  and "Say yes to the dress" that were produced 10 yrs ago!

Wonder what's going on with TLC???

Like HGTV, TLC is a Discovery network.  Discovery got sold a couple of times in the past several years.  When the dust settled and Warner Bros. Discovery was formed, the new CEO - who's equal parts incompetent and asshole - stopped production on a slew of shows.  For example, nothing on Animal Planet is new, so suspicion is the network will go away altogether at some point.  It seems from your description TLC is suffering the same thing.

So if some HGTV shows, like this one, are going longer than usual without new content, there could be some changes pending at that network now, too.  (Food Network still has a pretty typical schedule of new content, though.)

TLC, which started out as short for The Learning Channel, is now the freak show network. I remember sitting in on a meeting with folks from Discovery when they were looking into doing a special on my workplace. When I told the Discovery folks I loved Trading Places, the woman rolled her eyes, saying, yes, it's one of our highest ratings shows. TLC can go away. I never watch any of their freak shows. I did get a very nice Discovery ball cap, which, as a federal employee, I got to keep since its value was less than $25. 😅

I was surprised to find 30+ recordings of HH on my DVR last night.  I couldn't tell if they were new or old, so I watched a few.  I think the ones I watched were new, at least new to me.  One was a couple looking for a bigger house for their 2 boys to grow up in.  The dad was a firefighter, and I don't remember what the wife did.  She described herself as a helicopter mom, and the husband was the sane one who wanted the kids to have some freedom to be kids (they were 3 & 5).  She was annoying as hell, and she had spent way too much time in a tanning bed or applying orange tanning cream.  That and the stiletto heels she wore with jeans and shorts made for an interesting fashion combo. Oh, she liked to shop too, and didn't want the price of the house to interfere with her shopping budget.  These are the people whose retirement savings I want to see.  I liked the husband's down to earth thinking.  It must get tiresome living with someone like her 24/7, but they've been together 10 years, so he must not mind too much.

I spent much of yesterday and today deleting and cancelling the "new recordings". Damn you HGTV.

I did as well. I've got to go into settings and determine if I have the DVR set to record all recordings, and not just new. We switched cable companies a while back and it was such a pain setting up the DVR. I know for sure that the 5 episodes recorded as new were definitely repeats. Grrrr!

Definitely was a repeat. My DVR recorded this one, too.

They were all old episodes, re-packaged as new with just the state as a description.

Not sure what they thought they would gain by doing this. Like many, I've now deleted the House Hunters series from recording. I'm still interested in the new episodes but I'm sick of sorting through all the re-airings of old eps with new dates/descriptions.

Wow, my DVR is filling up fast - 33 "new" episodes of House Hunters so far today!
One for every state in the union. Who comes up with this stuff?
17 more to go…

I had the same thing happen and I'm FURIOUS!  I had to delete every single episode as each WAS NOT NEW...THEY WERE SHOWS THAT AIRED IN 2022!  I wonder whose idea this was and why the cable companies (mine is Cox) took the listings as given even though they were bogus!

Also wonder if TLC will actually produce any NEW SHOWS...it seems like they are cost-cutting all over the place.

Lol.  I, too, was surprised to see all those recordings and that my DVR was almost full.  I considered watching some interesting states that we don't usually see, but decided that was too much trouble individually deleting the other ones, so I did a mass delete.  You all can't do that?  My DVR groups each show.  Anyway, they would have actually gotten me to watch these if they put one on per night.
