Oh the Maci from 16 & Pregnant. Where did she go? I felt so bad for her and I truly thought she had some insights on things. But, all of that changed when she hooked up with Kyle and started with the same ol' shit that had happened with Ryan.

Anyways, at the end of the episode, Maci says something like, we wouldn't be fighting this much if it weren't for trying to take care of a baby, or something like that, something that indicates Maci has enough insight to see that taking care of a baby full time pretty much kills any romance

I wish she had this same insight when she was with Kyle and now, with Taylor. She seems to have forgotten her words and the fact that taking care of babies is hard work.

I love babies, I love kids. However, they can throw a wrench sometimes into relationships. Not that it is the children's fault. Not at all commenting it that way. It is just that having babies, to many immature girls, is some sort of fairytale. They don't realize the hard work that comes with being a parent until they have that baby and they find that they are the ones who are doing the work for the most part.  I guess with Maci, she is willing to do that hard work all over again because it was the only way to secure Taylor to her since he won't marry her.

IIRC, Jeremy was the one who tried to trap Leah with a baby, at least at first.

But, she went right along with it. That to me, is not a trap. I will only agree that he was the one who brought up having a baby. It didn't take him much to convince Leah.

Jeremy was up-front with what he wanted. Leah could have avoided pregnancy and told him she had her hands full. Isn't that what she said time after time with Cory? She couldn't even bother to wash clothes because she was "so busy".  There are girls who aren't up-front with their guy by saying, "I want to have a baby." They just don't take their birth control pill, like Maci.

Just now catching up here on my favorite forums. Random thoughts about Maci: I did have higher expections for her in her 16& episode. But as time has gone on she has not only dated but fully moved men into her homes. Not a good look iMO. Ryan takes Bintley on a family vacation and Maci and her merry followers fancy their ass down that beach stat! Even Bintley was pissed off and she was fortunately pissed on.

And did I hear correctly on the reunion that when asked when Maci would get a ring,he replied, "with the next MTV check." Duh fuck! Unlike Corey I hate his beard. Maci is almost as pissy as Farrah. She just pretties it up with a larger vocabulary and a southern accent.

MTV has announced there will be a new season of this yawn-fest known as TMOG. They're already filming it. http://starcasm.net/archives/322233

I am interested to see what Maci decides about whether or not baby Jayde can be filmed, since she didn't want her son on a show with someone who did porn (Farrah). Is Jayde exempt from that rule? If so, how will she justify it? Cause Maci's boring storyline is going to be even more boring - and bizarre - if we never see either of her kids. Especially since she's still with and lives with Jayde's dad (Taylor), how can they show us any of her struggles as a mom without ever showing the kids? With Bentley, we can at least see her complain about Rhine when Bentley is with the Edwards family but hypothetically, Jayde will always be around Maci since she won't be bringing him to his dad's for visitation since they live/are together.

So Maci's book came out today. Even discounting her poetry (lots and lots of her poetry), it still wasn't worth the read. Basically, it seems like a "Ryan sucks" book (I read he hasn't read it

yet, but I'm sure Jen and Larry have and Maci throws a little shade to them too). Takeaways:

-Ryan was perfect and treated her well until she got pregnant.

-Kyle was homeschooled (this could explain a lot-Not that all homeschooling produces kids like Kyle).

-She finally graduated from community college y'all!

-Her doctor told her she couldn't get pregnant with Polycistic Ovary Disease and there was no need to use birth control, and that's when she got pregnant. She and Taylor did want kids together though.

-Not one word about Farrah-gate.

And I just saved you $10!

I guess every doctor has their limits with regards to experience and education, but I still think she's a lying liar that there's anyone out there with an MD that would tell her this. 10 seconds on google would tell the average layman that's not true.

If her doctor really said that, he/she should have their license revoked. Like that's lawsuit worthy false info. Maci is a lying liar who lies and the doctor can't defend herself. Ugh.

I have PCOS. Multiple doctors told me that it was not likely I could get pregnant without medical intervention. However, every single one of them told me to use protection because there are no guarantees when it comes to that kind of thing.

I was diagnosed with it ten years ago but have not heard that-- but I was about 18 and perhaps did not ask the question because it wasn't a concern.  Perhaps it depends on the degree or extremity? It runs in my family and most have managed to get pregnant without intervention. Anyway, Maci is clearly lying about what her doctor said or her doctor is dumb.  The former is more likely than the latter.

I'm calling BS on Maci graduating community college until I see some proof from somewhere else besides Maci's own assertion. Because we saw her say she couldn't be enrolled while pregnant/she had so much going on/etc on the most recent season of TMOG. I mean, didn't we see her drop out or decide to sit out what would be her final semester onTMOG?

And I feel like we would have seen media articles about it with pics of her & Bentley at her graduation.

Supposedly Maci got pregnant the first time she and Ryan slept together, so I'm reading this as: Ryan was perfect and treated me well so he could get some.

Sucks she throws shade at Jen & -Larry and that most of the book focuses on how much Ryan sucks (from what you've written), since that's her baby's dad. I know he isn't perfect, he and his parents are involved in Bentley's life. One day Bentley will read the book where his mom trashes them.

I went back and read interviews and tweets. In May 2013 maci said she would be graduating at end of the year dec 2013. In may 2014 she says the same thing. She has one more semester to go which would be dec 2014. But...she couldn't go because she was pregnant! I doubt she went and finished spring 2015 while getting close to delivering??

During a scene that was filmed this last season, which I think took place the fall/summer of 2014, Maci said she was graduating "this spring", meaning spring of 2015. But then she said between being pregnant, keeping up with Bentley's soccer schedule, and her travel schedule for MTV in 2015, she couldn't go to class, so I don't see how she graduated. Maybe the book was written prior to her sitting out the spring 2015 semester and she assumed she would be graduated by the time of the book release?

I'm guessing it's frowned upon to post a screenshot from her book, but I went back to check out the section about her graduation. Maci said she graduated a few months before Jayde was born. She said it's a media technology degree (??) with a minor in creative writing. And it took her 5 years but she was proud to finish up.

Jayde was born in June, right? At most colleges, spring semester wraps up in May so if she graduated in May, that's not really "a few months". I don't follow her on Twitter but I agree, I would think she would have posted pictures. Unless she didn't attend the ceremony (do they have ceremonies at community college?).

ETA: I clearly need a hobby because I just Googled this-her college had a graduation ceremony in the beginning of May. I guess maybe she didn't attend it?

Plus she had that new puppy to potty train. I'm surprised she had time for school at all!

haha I do that too sometimes, get into what I call "must-stop-Googling" mode. Must say I am actually proud of her for finishing, if she did.  And yes I've actually heard of a Media Technology certificate program from a local community college. They don't call it a degree, but it is a real program. Even though I'm well past college I've thought about taking some of the classes because they look really interesting.  If the graduation was early May and Jayde (it pains me to spell it like that!) was born late June maybe in her mind that's "a few months"?

I don't think she could have graduated in December though, as she was in her fall 2014 semester when she was talking about graduating the next spring. And she was already enrolled in classes so it wasn't like she could have adjusted her schedule to take on additional credits rather than going another semester. Very odd.

I think way too much about this.

It's okay, we all do! I doubt Maci actually graduated, but if she did, December would work as far as the "a few months earlier" timeline.

Yeah, I'm not even going to try to justify reading it. I've also read Tyler and Caitlin's book (probably the worst book I've ever read). I was hoping there would be TM gossip in there. But nope-Maci instead followed up each chapter with her super awesome poems. It's total mindless, trashy reading.

I didn't realize she had Jayde (also hate putting that y in there!) back in May. That doesn't sound right if she graduated then...I thought I read somewhere they're already filming next season, maybe we'll see it on there?

If she did graduate, I have no idea why she did not post it somewhere on social media.  I hate to be disgusting but some these girls can not have a healthy bm without posting it somewhere online.  It would definitely be brought up  and filmed for the next season.  I am also afraid the next season will focus around Maci's wedding and how she now has a dream life despite being a teenage mother.  I have always felt she show desperately wanted to paint Maci as their inspirational success story.

I can see the finale being a big wedding where all the teen moms (with maybe the exception of Farrah) are invited.  We will see flashbacks to Maci's original 16 and Pregnant episode as she narrates what a "difficult journey" it has been and how proud of herself she is for working hard and succeeding.  She will finally get to wear the wedding dress she has wanted ever since "Riiiine" flaked on her and she called of the engagement.  Bentley will be an adorable ring bearer and Jayde, the flower girl.  There will be a spread done in In Touch magazine with Maci on the cover that says "Maci is getting married!".

What she will not tell you is that she did not work at all...she had money pouring in from the show and various gigs around the show.  She took a PHd time period to finish a relatively short degree/certificate program.  She will also not mention that the only reason Taylor is even with her is to benefit from the perks of her fame and fortune (he practically admitted as much).

Look, I do not have a problem with Maci enjoying the fruits of being a reality show celebrity.  I do have a problem with a teenage girl watching the show and thinking she can have Maci's life, so having a kid at sixteen is not a big deal.

The show needs to get away from the "Maci Myth" and project the reality (ha ha) of what is truly going on.  It is particularly true since the show insists that it is an educational program that has helped reduce teen pregnancy and not a trashy reality show that exploits it's young participants.

Ha, read something on The Ashley that said the reason Maci's book did not come out until 2015 was that her laptop that had her rough draft of her "memoir" was stolen and she had to start from scratch. First off, I'm so sure Maci did the heavy lifting on writing her book. Perhaps she was merely referring to her end of chapter poetry? Second, if you truly were writing your own story, you wouldn't really rely on keeping it on a laptop right? I mean, you could break your laptop dropping it, or it could crash, or another dozen things could happen where you would lose your work. Even in 2013, they had options for file storage that didn't rely on a physical computer for sensitive file safekeeping. But whatever.

By far, the most hilarious part of what Maci said was her fear that whoever stole her laptop would sell her memoir to a tabloid before she could get it published herself. She definitely has a healthy self esteem regarding how interesting she thinks other people find her.

1) I highly doubt any medical professional would ever tell a woman that is sexually active that is not trying for a baby that she doesn't need birth control. Try again, Maci. Actually, don't.

2) was Maci's school ever discussed at all on OG? I think I remember her and Taylor having a mumbled conversation about it once, and then it was all anti-Farrah, Rhine is and idiot, etc. The season featured the beginning of her pregnancy. If she graduated a few months before Jade was born, that would mean that she was working on her degree during the beginning of her pregnancy. Wouldn't MTV be all over that? Even if it was just 1 class, I would think that they would make it look like she had a full course load. It's not like she had much else going on in her segments. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, I remember very little of OG, because it sucked so much.

Hey, old news, but I checked out Maci's opus from the library. It's similar to Kail's in that it paints her in a really flattering light, while basically shitting on Ryan and Kyle, and also throwing some shade on Jen and Larry.

Anyways, thought I could clear up the whole Miracle Baby/My Doctor Told Me I Couldn't Get Pregnant With PCOS debacle. From what it sounds like, Maci wasn't getting her period regularly and therefore not ovulating regularly. Her doctor supposedly told her she did not need birth control because she wasn't ovulating.

Now, in a way, this is accurate. No periods means no ovulation and no ovulation means no chance of pregnancy. Furthermore, if my hormones were out of whack, I'd be pretty reluctant to use any hormonal BC.

However, just because you're not ovulating that minute does not mean you never will again. That's like saying, it's sunny and 60 degrees right now, therefore it will be 60 and sunny every day from now on, or, the stock price for Amazon went up today therefore will continue to rise and I should use every last dollar to invest in Amazon. And believe me, my own body is a testament to hormones being as fickle as the weather in the Midwest or stock prices.

So, either Maci's doctor is horrible for not explaining that just because the lack of ovulation for a time meant she could not have gotten pregnant, that did not mean her body would never ovulate again, or Maci intentionally took his words out of context. I'm leaning towards the latter.

  • Love 1

Just because don't have periods doesn't mean you can't ovulate - or don't occasionally. I haven't had a period for five years (malnutrition) and I have a three year old.

You didn't get your period because you got pregnant- had you not conceived during that time you would have gotten at least one period during that five year stretch.

Eta: to further explain, a lack of periods means you have not ovulated (in the past)- it does not mean you won't ovulate going forward. Two things will happen after ovulation- either pregnancy or a period. But both take about 2 weeks after ovulation to appear (a period or positive test). That's how preteen girls get pregnant before ever having a period or a how a post partum mom gets pregnant again before she gets her first period after the birth.

I'm supposed to be studying, obviously I wisely used this time to catch up on this thread...

The pcos thing is a lie, a (reputable) doctor would NEVER make a 100% statement about anything. There is always a small variable chance that you are the 1 % that x,y, or z could happen to and if they want to keep their license and avoid a lawsuit they wouldn't tell anyone to not bother with protection. I'm not as positive about it but I would guess that beyond the chance of pregnancy they would not suggest forgo-ing protection for the sake of the chance of STDs. But if she's in a commited relationship I don't see why a doctor would say anything, so I guess really that's a non-point on my part:

I think Maci either misunderstood what he was saying or purposely took it out of context. What the doctor was saying (from what I gathered) is if she hadn't had a period in a year, she also hadn't ovulated in that year, and if she had been using non hormonal BC -like condoms- solely for contraception in that time period, it had been unnecessary because she couldn't have gotten pregnant anyways. Telling her condoms (as a method of contraception, not for safety) during a certain, specific time period were superfluous is not the same thing as saying going forward, you can't get pregnant so go ahead and skip the birth control.

  • Love 1

When Maci was diagnosed with PCOS (which I do believe she has), I'm betting she googled it and came across all this stuff about how some have trouble conceiving if they have it. And then she used that as her reason why she didn't need to use protection with Taylor (who was dumb enough to believe it), in hopes of a trap baby. I call BS on a doctor ever saying any of that stuff to her. Maci knew she had gotten pregnant just give/six years earlier- allegedly on the night she lost her virginity. If she really didn't want to have another baby, she would have been scared it could have happened again even if it was unlikely and would have used protection.

And no, none of these people seem to be worried about STDs, which is insane. These girls represent the generation about ten years or so younger than me. When I was a preteen in the early 1990s, AIDS/HIV awareness was such a big thing...Easy E had died; Magic Johnson had been diagnosed. Everyone, everywhere was screaming "condoms, condoms, condoms"! These kids aren't old enough to remember that. It blows my mind that these kids seem to have so much unprotected sex. I guess I was just socially conditioned differently. (And from what I've heard and seen from some people in their early 20s, they just don't think it can happen to them....an example would be how many people I've seen comment that Charlie Sheen had to sleep with men to get HIV..../facepalm....they think "normal" straight people aren't at risk at all). I was way too afraid at their age to have unprotected sex because I was scared of pregnancy and STDs.

Late to this but in no way do I believe Maci's story about her doctor telling her she couldn't get pregnant.

1. I do not believe Maci would go a year without a period. I know of MANY PCOSers (I have been involved with a support group for a long ass time) who go a long time without a period but none close to a year and these women show many other symptoms of PCOS - weight gain, hirsuitism, etc.  Most PCOSers really struggle with their weight. Of course, I've known thin women who needed assistance to get pg but they are not the norm and Maci is teeny, tiny compared to even them.

2. You certainly can get pg if your periods are irregular. I got pg with no intervention with my first child after ovulating on cycle day 31. (I had irregular periods since I was a teen. To me, that was a reason TO use birth control - just the whole worry about when I should start my period and the anxiety of always being "late" did it for me.)  I did not get dxed with PCOS until my 30s but I never, ever had a doctor suggest irregular periods meant no need for birth control. In fact, birth control pills are often prescribed as a TREATMENT for women PCOS symptoms for women who don't want to get pregnant.

It really bugs that she is going around telling people she was told she could NOT get pregnant. I think she wanted to get pregnant to "trap" Taylor since she was bugging him to propose.
