You, my friend, are missing out on the lovely world of mom-shopping.

Never in my life did I realize there are so many 20 and 30 somethings who live in completely 1950s style domestic arrangements where the man works a blue collar job and the mom stays at home with x kids, does buy/sell/trade of Tula baby carriers, baby carrier covers, rare lularoe leggings, jamberry nails, and etc on the interwebs.

Nearly every purchase is dependent upon the pay day, the taxmas, the sale of another item, a paypal refund, a husband's permission.

These are Amber's people. Literally.  Many of them live in low cost of living states, living with baby daddies, planning those weddings for eventually (or not at all), struggling through their 20s like our girls, but without the benefit of television cameras. I truly had no idea that people lived like that (outside of the "Boys Don't Cry" movie, which made me cry for so many different reasons).

I sort of sound like a dick, and I don't mean to. I just read a lot of "does this really happen?" posts.  And yes, it totally does.  And I was completely unaware of it until I had a kid and started hanging out in mom groups on the internet.

I can't wait until people start posting pics of their purchases.  I'm pretty sure that she bought this stuff from those cheapo places in China that you see the articles about - the ones where an xxl is actually a medium or smaller.

You basically described most every woman in my town. These are also the same women who refuse to believe that I have a real job (because I work from home but don't actually sell anything). I feel a real disconnect between the majority of the women in my town and myself. My HUSBAND feels it even worse. He is a university professor (or was until last month) at a major nearby university. Although he had a few on-campus classes, they also started giving him a lot of online courses, which he could do from home. He felt real uncomfortable with those because people around here basically thought that, because he was home, he was unemployed. We live in a county in a part of the country that basically believes that unless you're doing manual labor, it's not a real job. My husband and I are educated (5 degrees between us), open-minded, agnostic liberals. We stick out like sore thumbs. In our last Primary, only 11 people in the county voted. It's the only time we ever get to meet other Democrats. (I don't care what your party or religion is-just giving you a general idea of the differences).

I don't ask my husband for permission. But if I'm making a large purchase (over $100 for us.) besides groceries, I let him know. He does the same. It's not permission, it's communication.

But these twitter people likely aren't buying anything and are using their husbands as an excuse.

Communication and asking for permission are two very different things, IMO.

Holy crap! You've just explained some of what I deal with on a daily basis. I was outside watering my trees one day when my new bedroom set arrived and some nosey neighbors came to take a peek. One said, "How do you guys afford such nice things on one income with the three young children?" I said "One income? My husband also works!" They said in response "You don't work you're a SAHM!" I kindly responded back with "I work, too!" Here's the back and forth more outlined:

Bitch neighbor: But you NEVER leave during the daytime hours only after five to grocery shop, etc.

Me (with a "How'd the fuck you know my schedule so well?" look on my face): I work from home

Bitch neighbor: That's not real work as you're at home with no real work schedule

Me: Um, I have a work schedule that I strictly follow.

Bitch Neighbor: But you don't HAVE to follow it since you have no employer watching over you.

Me: I still follow it.

Bitch neighbor: but you have the option to sleep in if you feel like it or take naps.

Me: Who the fuck does that? I have deadlines to meet...gotta go take a nap.

I had to end the conversation quickly before it got really unneighborly.

Thank god we're looking to sell our house and moooooove. I'm so sick of people thinking you have to clock in at a physical location to be considered a full-time worker. My paychecks are my proof and the bills I pay are my proof.

Alright, lunch break over and I spilled some salad dressing on my keyboard.

Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Amber responded to some of the "backlash" about her non-exclusive offerings, but then deleted the Tweets:

“Hi loves! So I’m getting a lot of questions about my clothes. I need people to understand that this is a boutique and I have all rights to the models I use because I go [straight] to the brand. People will take these pics illegally and send you a completely different product, which has happened to me many times. Lol so understand these are 4-5 star clothes straight from the retailer. You have to have a business license, IRS Id among other things. So please don’t buy something for cheaper and get something completely different. Sending love everyone,” Amber Portwood explained in the now-deleted tweets over the weekend.

This makes no sense. I shop online a lot. Occasionally, a place completely messes up and sends me something different but I always get what I actually ordered. This has never happened with clothes.

So she buys clothes from x brand and sells them. What happened to her hand checking the inventory?

She's going to be selling makeup now, too.

She must have done a big cleanup on Twitter. Seems everything is possitive now. Isn't that false advertising?

Interesting she mentions an IRS ID. She will be busted by February.

Quick search shows that there is no Federal EIN for Amber Portwood or Forever Haute.  More lies. Bitch has an LLC in Indiana - that's it. The two are not the same, honey.  She still has the IRS lien for $130000 that she is ignoring.

Yes, all she has is an LLC. Anyone can get one in minutes with a computer and $149.  She used her home address (rented house) for the address - that shows that she received no actual business advice.

She nor Forever Haute hold a FEIN or EIN numbers. https://www.knowx.com/fein/search.jsp

It's not a legit business.

It would be great if someone would point this out to Amber on Twitter!

Sorry it won't let me quote (or like for that matter) but Noooo! No one tell Amber. I really want to watch her crash and burn and take Scuzzy, Farrah and Simon down with her.

I used to like her and root for her. Even after she went to gel, I had high hopes that she would turn herself around. But, Scuzzy latched into her and she became the worst possible version of herself. I anticipate he will ultimately kill her and make it look like a drug overdose, or she'll overdose all on her own. She is spiraling out of control, her mental health has gotten worse, and her defense of that piece of trash all-the-while ignoring her daughter has me actively rooting against her. She just doubles down in her defense of him because if she acknowledges she fell for a scam artist, she thinks she is losing. In reality, if she left him when she first found out about his lies, she would have had an incredible amount of support.

It's like Meri from Sister Wives and her catfishing scandal. All she had to do was admit that she was in a bad place that allowed a psychopath to enter her life, and most people would understand and support her while she extricated herself from the mess. But, she had to defend him instead, allow him access to her money, and when she doesn't have anything left for him to take, he'll drive away in the car in his name, with the money earned from buying and selling houses with her money, and she'll have little to no support from the strangers on the internet whose positive opinions she is so concerned about receiving, because she ignored and belittled their support when she originally received it.

Someone retweet this to her! Let her explain herself. Lol.

I used to root for her after she got out of gel because she seemed so mature, but she couldn't hold that front for too long. She uses her depression to get out of doing anything responsible for Leah but snaps out of it for trips and MTV awards, and Cate/Tyler's wedding.

I loathe how she tells the world that the ONLY time Gary is being a good person that it's an act for the cameras. I know Gary was a button pusher but I highly doubt he's faking his love for Leah for the cameras. He may overdo some things to look like a perfect dad but that doesn't change the fact that he loves that little girl and puts her first, something that Amber has never done.

She keeps saying how she gave up so much for Leah when she went to gel. I get that. She went to gel to get off drugs to be a better mom and I do believe that was her intention. However, since she's been out and "clean" she hasn't stepped up to BE THAT MOM she went into gel to become, so this tells us all that it wasn't the drugs making her make bad decisions and be a bad mom, SHE IS A BAD MOM with or without drugs and the audience members are now noticing, as well.

She never has Leah and always has excuses for not taking care of her or being motherly, i.e., depression, weight issues, too tired is all of her excuses. I'm sure Christina gets tired, may have a little weight problem but still does her motherly job for her child AND AMBER'S and can't lock herself in a bedroom until the next award show or Vegas trip.

So yeah, I'm sorry, but I too, want to see this "boutique" fail because I'm tired of seeing Amber and Gnat live the life that many people work hard to have but are still too out of reach, or for those that worked hard and DID get to achieve that lifestyle to share it with lazy bums. I want Amber and Matt as whopper floppers because I know Gary and Kristina will take care of Leah so Leah won't ever suffer, but pleeeeeaseeee MTV, rip them out of their "uppa class" lifestyle and send them to a studio apartment in neighborhoods with no HOA. I want real reality to hit her in the face and Matt goes back to Walmart sneakers.

Wow, I went on a ramble. This reply was SUPPOSE to be just a response to the wholesale photos for her website. Steps away from the keyboard after clicking submit. :-

Wtf is really going on here? Amber is tweeting up a maniacle storm - calling everyone Hon and Loves - probably never leaving the bed or sofa and calling it "work".

Meanwhile, they gave a tour (yes I am just sad enough that I follow them) of the new "music room". Yes, Matt appears to be binge buying signed guitars and other rock memorabilia. What next ... open the house up for tours and charge admission? The rock and douche hall of fame. And Amber as a sideshow - the amazing lazy woman.

omg I know, how much did *that* shit cost?  I love music (and delighting my Mister w/a signed photo or instrument occasionally), but...not smart, guys.

OK, so Amber Tweeted the top photo with "Forever Haute" and "coming soon" added to the top on January 16, 2017.

But a Reddit user found the bottom photo of Susan Thompson's products on Lola's Secret Beauty Blog dated May 30,2015.

He probably didn't pay a dime for any of that stuff. I'd bet he suckered all his various baby/sugar mama's into buying those items for him over the years.

That shit looks so cheap. She couldn't even bother to match the fonts on "Forever Haute" and the rest of the package. I don't know why, but that annoys the hell out of me. I see people do it all the time on memes and it make me want to scream. Yes I know, it's a random thing to get angry about, but it really makes me twitchy.

Oh no. We actually saw him bragging about all the shipments he had coming in. Didn't he just arrive at Amber's with some records to hang on the wall (classy - for a 50s diner)?

If he really was an addict, sounds like shopping can be added to that. They've got some damned nice cars as well. The guy is running up some credit cards that I will bet a million $$$$ are in Amber's name.

She just did some interview heavily laced with "they don't understand" in regards to her fans criticizing her business savvy.  Yeah, when Amber tries to make you feel dumb you're really winning at life. I suspect Matt is controlling her like a puppet. Totally would not be surprised to hear in the future that Matt drugged and controlled her.  It's not like Amber is a grown woman or anything. Get a sofa ready, cousin Crystal.

Yes, Amber, you have all the rights to the pictures of clothes and the high quality product itself, just like you own your house and expensive (definitely not leased) cars. I used to feel sorry for her and I thought Gary was so mean, but not anymore. However she is either delusional and believes her own lies, or thinks that we are idiots.

As for her own make-up collection, I'm pretty sure it's also being sold at TJMaxx and Marshalls for less than $10

What does  Matt's nickname "gnat" stand for?

  • Love 3

I think the mr housewife article is making my brain bleed... clearly we are all too dumb to understand how a BOUTIQUE works... my daily job requires keeping people alive, but understanding how wholesale works is out of my pay grade. Bitch, I've been to sams, I know what wholesale means. And of course there haven't been any returns, they have to be approved, and I'm willing to bet they all get rejected. Even high end retailers have returns, sometimes something doesn't work out at no fault to anyone, so boasting no returns just makes things less legit to me.

I'm just gonna sit back and wait for this to blow up, because it WILL blow up, its too easy to prove she's marking things up.

ETA: in retrospect I feel a little bad for making my job sound more important than retail, or that you don't have to be smart for retail, that's not true, I think retail is a job that I couldn't do, because it's just not where my talents lie, but that doesn't mean it's a "less than job". I think it takes a lot of skill and intelligence to handle marketing/customer service/ etc. my rage comes from that she is talking down like nobody else could possibly understand how a boutique works.
