That is a one of problems with FV vs JFP. Yes, JFP often casted her friends, so does FV, but I felt that one of JFP only redeeming qualities as an executive producer is that she would use Mark Teschner more often (or maybe it just felt that way).

For Tue my cableguide says "Anna shares a tender moment with Sloane".

I'm sure at least four of you are going to tell me to "REPENT REPENT REPENT REPENT" for this, but I'd rather see Anna willingly hook-up with Faison that share anything with Sloane.

Hell, even though it would be rape, id rather see a brainwashed Anna with Faison. Ron actually laid the groundwork for this last fall and I'd rather watch Patrick, Felicia, and Mac pleading and doing anything to stop Anna from running off with him. That exit would have been better than this shit.

Don't get me wrong, Fin is fucking killing it as 'Anna goes crazy', but there's something truly special about Fin & Anders on-screen together. I think the two of them could have a discussion about the Burger King menu and I'd be totally mesmerized.

ETA: that spoiler about Scotty & Tracy coming together over Dewq's death that didn't make sense, my cableguide has it for Scott & Lucy, which makes a lot more sense.

My problem with the story line is that, for years, DZ has completely sold me on Dante being so completely head over heels in love with Lulu, and only Lulu, that I am going to have a really hard time buying him turning to her cousin.  It's pretty much going to have to be a situation where Lulu cheats first, and I don't think see her still being so into Dillon that she'd ruin her marriage. She had a crush on him as a teen, but that was over and done well before she even met Dante.

another thought on this - I do see DZ selling feelings/likings for Valerie, but the problem is against 6 years of selling it in the acting and a first couple of years of pretty good writing with Dante and Lulu, it just doesn't really hold up. It's the same situation with Patrick in the Sam pairing. JT is doing a good job but it just doesn't wash in comparison to the writing Patrick had when he was in the Robin pairing. Patrick is pretty much a shell. My reaction watching is, "I've seen him when he is in love, and this is not it."

There could easily be a good story about these couples splitting up, I just think Ron has run out of the energy to write it. I could be well wrong though, maybe a half-way decent story will emerge.

I can buy Dante and Lulu drifting towards other people. I can't buy Dante cheating, unless something major happened. Lulu is another story.

I think they have all the essential pieces for a good story, and I welcome a good Dillon recast; I also like Valerie a lot. I just don't think there is any commitment to character beyond what the actors bring to the table.

Early on in the Lante love story, I began to comment on how incredibly well Dom Zamprogna can sell a man being totally and faithfully in love.  Perhaps too well in the soap opera world!!  As early as 2010, I also started to say, again considering the realities of the soap world, that Dante and Lulu were being written and performed with "end game" couple qualities.  Far too young and far too early in the soap world where there is no happy-ending Act Three until characters leave the show or the show itself ends.  This combination of acting with good initial writing has created a dilemma for writers and viewers.  Even the best, long-lasting soap couples have had breakups, lengthy separations and even other relationships in the typical push and pull of soap love stories.  But how do the writers do this considering the way that the Dante and Lulu love story has been written and  portrayed - especially considering how DZ has sold Dante's complete love for Lulu?

I can buy Dante and Lulu drifting towards other people. I can't buy Dante cheating, unless something major happened. Lulu is another story.

Like both of you, I do think there could be good story here, but I share ulkis' concern that RC is not up to writing such a story.   Has Ron indeed run of energy?  Can he recapture the quality of these scenes his team wrote for Dante and Lulu in August, 2012?  Watching these scenes again, I can believe this "good story" could be written - if this same quality could be captured again.

IF ...

In the meantime, we  introduce the unknown of a new Dillon, and I remain convinced that he will be a bigger problem in the Lante marriage than Valerie.  In good part because, unlike Valerie, the character has a well-established history both with Lulu and on the GH canvas in general.   By failing to develop Valerie's potential, IMO, the writers have weakened their own story.  (And, as an aside, they have failed to give a promising new character a chance to become better established).

FV just tweeted at 1:37 EST the following:  Hey @GeneralHospital fans: BIG casting news coming later this afternoon..............stay tuned ! #GH

I wonder what that's all about? For me, the best casting news would be that Sean Kanan is leaving B&B and returning to GH.....

Did they already tweet about GF coming back? Maybe it's that

Yeah, they tweeted about that a while back.

It's probably someone else connected to the Luke exit, Jonathan Jackson maybe.

No, that was already done a few weeks back.  I'm guessing it will be someone else Luke-related, though.  It would be great if it was Tristan Rogers -- Robert really should be back for Luke's exit.

Nathan Parsons and JJ were rumored to return for a fairwell to Luke, may be they agreed. Might be harder for Nathan though since he's on The CW where as JJ is on ABC.

I'm perfectly willing to forget Nathan's existence - unless they retcon his parentage to Robert/Holly, reveal that Paloma has been masquerading as Holly for years, and send Nathan off to look for his sister Robin - and when he disappears Holly/Anna will team up to rescue them

Shenanigans ensue

Ugh, I don't want Robert albatrossed with Teethan. Let him be the product of Holly having a drunken ONS with someone she'll never remember. Teethan had a very happy childhood with his adoptive parents. Who cares who his birth parents are?

For me, they destroyed what little affection I had for Holly's character with the Monkey Virus storyline. Her lack of concern for Robin irritated the shit out of me.

Luke can disappear without any returns, fanfare or explanations and I'd been good with it.

Ugh. Luke and Holly were never even a tenth as significant as Robert/Holly. The idea that she'd have an affair with Luke during that time period is gross and it's kind of ridiculous that she's part of his exit.

It would only make sense if Robert came back with her and they said goodbye to him together (don't hurt me, fellow R&A fans! I'm still on your side! *ducks*).

Apparently in the new SID, it says Jake gets a job for ELQ...Michael hires him as security.  And Sabrina hires Sam to investigate Rosalie,  which is apparently how Jake and Sam end up back in each others orbit.  I don't have a direct link, I got it from twitter.

Seriously, putting his hands on the DA?  I hope Scotty has his mobster, confessed murderer ass arrested.

He will probably get off with everyone blaming Scotty. Karen needs to come back from the dead to kick  Sonny's ass.

Oh Ron.  "Grudgingly accept"?  Kiki, Morgan et. al were nodding their fool heads off in agreement from moment one of Delia's story.

I'd be more interested in Jake(son) working at ELQ if it wasn't all about Michael and Sam.

Finally! This is something I actually wanted. I also think the Sam/Sabrina vs. Rosalie thing works, frankly.

And thanks for the link, tvg.

Also, I still think it's silly that all this drama hinges on Nikolas wanting ELQ for...reasons.

I could go for the Cassadines making a real play for ELQ, but as it is it's an incredibly muted storyline, or has been, with nonsensical motivations for Nikolas. I suspect they are going to dig into that with Laura back, but there's little that could make me buy it. They have started hinting in scripts that this is totally OOC for Nik, so there's got to be something. When the entire thing is being anchored by Nikolas acting like he's fighting an Ambien hangover and surrounded by dayplayers (the annoying fake mayor, annoying Rosalie, annoying Hayden, annoying Sloane), the stakes aren't there.

Thanks for the links!

How is it possible that Sam/Jase/Liz/Nik all have a story/POV in this hellish love [insert an appropriate shape here], but Patrick is a freaking non-entity? What the hell.

At this stage, I'm grateful. Maybe he and Emma can leave town for a while. Not like anyone would notice. They can come back if and when this show gets some halfway decent writing. In that case, I hope JT is saving his pennies...

I'm glad Sam will be getting to put her PI skills to use, but Rosalie? Really? She can't investigate someone more important than that worthless cabbage?

How dare you lump Greenlee Rebecca Budig in with worthless fake mayor, Rosalie, and Sloane.

So Laura is coming back and the promo has her with a gun?

Yeah, that sounds about right with this show.  Let's give everyone a gun and they can all stand around giving soliloquies.

In Laura's case, I'll allow it.  The show spent too many years portraying her as a weak, delicate flower.

And if she flips that gun around and pistol whips Holly for subjecting us to Ethan, well, that'd be fine just fine.

It looked like Holly had a gun and was pointing it, so Laura pointed one back? And it looked like Luke was standing next to Laura. But it went by so quick, all I saw was Laura with the gun, and at least she wasn't a weeping, crying, mess.

I'm so easy to please sometimes.

IDC, Genie looks fucking fabulous.  I am excited to have her back.

I am still holding out hope that Nikolas is brainwashed.  It's the only thing that makes sense.   If losing Emily didn't make him go dark, I don't buy stupid Britt being the reason he becomes a murderer.  Pffft.  And pffft.

Someone else said on twitter that Ron was quoted as saying we are approaching the last chapter, or in the home stretch of Jake finally learning the damn truth.  So.....reveal in November of 2016?

I wish someone would tell Sonny to maybe think about maybe doing some yoga or taking something to ease his murderous hairtrigger temper.

Somebody needs to slip Ativan into his bipolar meds.

It's a bit late in the game for Emily's death to be the reason he's gone dark. And yeah, his dalliance with Britt was nothing. It was a rebound from Liz, FFS.

I am still holding out hope that Nikolas is brainwashed.

I'm not.  I don't want him to have an out.

Same here. I'm tired of brainwashing/DID/babies being the reasons people do terrible things. You're doing a bad thing because you're a POS.

The only thing that could make this Nikolas mess worth it is if Stefan came back, and Nikolas told him everything and Stefan just stared and Nikolas would start to squirm. But obviously that is not likely to happen.

I don't necessarily want him to have an out, I just think his 180 makes absolutely NO damn sense.

I wasn't saying Emily's death has anything to do with his 180, I was saying since he didn't go dark WAY back then, I don't buy Britt being the reason he is now.

He very briefly blamed all the women - Emily for dying and Liz and Britt for his crappy love life - because nothing is his own fault for thinking with his royal scepter.
