Well, even though Rick's plan of going to the trash people was dumb, Daryl knew the plan and I don't think he was that definitive when he left?  He wanted to take the explosives but they exploded so I don't think Rick thought he was going to drive a truck into the Sanctuary.  Daryl should have stayed on plan.
