Raise your hand if you didn’t know the “cop” wasn’t a real cop.

I am so sick of the “I promised (blank) that I would watch out for you” story.  And gee, a cop with a troubled family member - haven’t seen that before.

So the Commander stays on duty after what he thought was his killing a brother officer?

Junior's background caught my ear. He is the first character that I can remember since Army on The Shield who was Iraq and not an Afghanistan war veteran

Is Tani going to throw Lou under the bus?

She says to McGarrett: "Something happened this morning, and I think... I think you should know about it."

Hmmmm!

Nope.  I think she wants to fess up to McGarrett, but she can tell the story without talking about Lou or the video.

Let’s see - Adam’s brother was trouble, as was Malia’s.  Likewise Danny’s and Kamekona’s brothers.  Now Tani’s brother.  Seems like someone on this show has brother issues.  Throw in Steve’s sister and we have quite a sibling group.  Did I miss anyone?

Ian Anthony Dale is such a beautiful man. I first saw him in something probably ten, or almost ten years ago, and he's still as gorgeous now as he was then. I also really enjoyed his dynamic with Steve this episode. Steve has peers (true peers, not teammates) in Danny and Grover, but there was just something different and healthy about the Steve/Adam interaction. He'll be new to the team, but he's the most developed prior-recurring character so they can just keep building on that instead of only trying to get us to like some totally new person. I'm quite pleased to see where they slotted Ian in the opening credits. He deserves that third billing ahead of the newbies and Jerry.

Steve is all of us when he perked up 1000% on the topic of Eddie.

What a mindfuck it would have been if, after discovering the dead police officer wasn't really a police officer and shooting out the driver in the final standoff, the car that the driver hit/drove over/smashed had an innocent occupant who was killed. But this is Five-0 so that will never happen.

Junior really needed the added dimension with his old girlfriend, but I still don't find him to be likable and I don't enjoy him. He exhibits problems following orders this episode, which is for sure a liability, and they've established he's having trouble reassimilating, which is completely fair. But I don't think the answer is let him dedicate himself to Five-0 until he shows a real commitment to working on those issues and can accept the orders he's given (especially since he'll be the lowest man on the totem pole). I am not sure Alex is going to re-up his contract for another season, but I really wouldn't mind if Junior was a one-season character at most. If he joins Five-0, I hope it's not premature. Adam's already going to join the team and I doubt as a pure office team member like Jerry. So between him and Tani, Five-0 is already light on people with actual previous law enforcement experience. And I'll be mad if Junior is like, "you guys let Tani join even though she didn't finish the academy, and you let Adam join even though he didn't go to the academy at all, so you really should let me join, too!"

Jerry's sister also dabbled in criminal endeavors! (With the elephant kidnap/rescue, though that's peanuts compared to the rest of the siblings.)

So ... does anyone think Steve might have really needed that stress counselor from last week, or her perky tips, if he really had killed a non-criminal?

So, shooting a cop without visual: bad. Shooting a villain without visual: good. Glad we got that cleared up.

I don't think Tani's coming clean about her busting little bro out. She told Lou that she was still trying to figure out who deposited that amount of money. And since they made such a point to remind everybody about Adam's Yakuza past I suspect that's where they are going with this. Not Adam being back into the Yakuza - but the deposit somehow being connected to the Yakuza.

What was this episode's excuse for not having Danny around? Was it even mentioned or are TPTB by now lazy enough to leave the handwaving to the audience

If Lou deleted the video he would probably be out of a job and in the way of immunity or not that was evidence

Junior I love his backstory there and really love it that he is making himself more and more likable

Adam despite his criminal background but had a dynamic chemistry with the team.

Tani loves her brother despite him being a screw up.

Think would had needed that stress counselor indeed as really this so despite the action, really kind of sink to a new low.

Adam not being with Kono is going to be very different. He misses her already

Bug I give it 7/10 as really someone posing as a cop enough on this show.

Danny of course was not around and neither was Eddie.

Man this show is so stupid sometimes. I mean if the explosion in the vault was strong enough to knock out Steve, Junior and Adam through the vault door shouldn't it have basically liquified anyone who was inside?

Also when Steve was in the tunnels, where exactly was Adam speeding off to in his truck? I thought they were supposed to be following him on the surface so why did they need to drive so fast when Steve was walking.

LOL, the first thing that occurred to me was the suspect changed into an HPD uniform.  Why in the world would a single LEO be wandering around the tunnels?  I've seen enough movies and TV shows over the years to know that's basically Bank Robbery 101.

I'm surprised McGarrett took it as badly as he did.  A lot of the time HPD is involved with Five-0, an officer is shot and killed, either directly or indirectly by their actions.  I don't know why it was any different this time around, even without a "visual".

Nice driving by Adam.  Kill a bunch of innocent bystanders while trying to locate Steve.  Sheesh.

I was watching with my mom and we were DYING with laughter during that scene. Adam and Junior were driving FOREVER and Steve was on foot, yet somehow Adam and Junior needed to catch up. The tunnels must've stretched from the bank to Maui.

Steve was moving at Soooper SEAL Speed!  It's a wonder they caught up with him at all!!!!

Did anyone even check to see if there were injured civilians in the car that got smooshed?

When Adam went in to his house at the end, I was expecting some bad guy to be sitting there waiting for him, or for the house to blow up or something.

Also the only reason they had Steve's angst was because the show skipped the standard tv cop show bit where when a shot cop is brought to a hospital there is a squad car escort and a 100 other cops waiting at the hospital. Since if there were cops there they would have figured out right away that this guy wasn't one.

Also almost funny how someone was shot in Five-0 custody and no one really cared. I also noticed that Adam and Junior are wearing visitors badges at five-0, but the fake cop just strolled in the building. So then who was handing out badges? And why don't they check ID of people in uniform?

They went into quite a bit of detail about her current plight.

At least a cameo maybe to have her return/retire and get pregnant. They basically gave it all away.

I liked Junior's back story, the ex seemed really too happy to see him.

Just wondering if TPTB might be negotiating with Kono for her possible return. They went into quite a bit of detail about her current plight.

At first I had those thoughts as well.  But if the episode is the only "big" reference to Kono and Adam simply joins Five-O with a very occasional mentioning of her then I think they feel they've dealt with it

I thought it odd that they referenced Kono “retiring”.  Isn’t she only in her mid-30’s?  I would think the correct term should be “resigning”.  At least in the military, if you leave before you have put in enough years to collect a pension you are not considered to be retired.

I remember when Steve had to take the 10 million dollars in a duffel bag to Victor Hesse in an earlier season that he and Kono looted from police evidence. It was relatively compact, I don't recall the duffel as being oversized. If bundled at 100 dollar bills, 10 million dollar would weigh about 225 pounds. It seems like the car trunk had more than that much money, compared to the size of the duffel Steve was effortlessly carrying. Also, it seems ludicrous that the thieves would be driving the same car with the money in it when the fake cop went in to kill the bank teller. However, it is Hawaii 5-0 and you have to park some of your logic and sensibility at the door when you tune in. It was good to see Adam back and I'm curious as to how they will use him going forward? Seems like he could run the restaurant, with his business background. Also, with mention of Doris in this episode, could it be...? As long as they don't bring back his sister, go for it. And, I was really disappointed to hear about the "girlfriends" in Episode 7. Are we stuck with another pathetic Valentine's Day show with the bimbos?

In the opening credits, you can see Adam in a bulletproof vest, holding a huge gun and walking in front of a SWAT truck, so I think he's going to straight-up join the team. Not sure what the catalyst will be, but it might be an extension of the organized crime reference in this week's episode. I'm sure he'll have a hard time readjusting to the island without Kono, and as they've shown in previous seasons, after he dismantled his father's criminal empire (I think he dismantled it, vs. just walking away and letting other people run it), he's had a hard time finding a real job that gives him any sense of purpose or utilizes his skills. So I assume Steve will pick up on that and invite Adam to join Five-0, possibly at first as the organized crime expert but then fully integrating with the team.

I laughed so hard at the girlfriend discussion in the stress management episode. Steve so does not have sex with Lynn five times a week. I did notice that he said something about being on and off with her, which made the five times a week part that much less believable.

Steve's sister is busy with Orange is the new Black (although she hardly seems like the same actress, so it's obviously not her that's the problem).  I doubt she'll be back any time soon.

I like Mary much better in fanfic than I do on the show--and it has nothing to do with the actress.  The show writers originally made Mary a difficult, prickly person with whom Steve has a very complicated relationship.  This is good and interesting.  However, it is kind of uncomfortable to watch in the fits and starts we get during the show, and they don't do a very good job of character continuity with Mary--she see-saws all over the place, and not as a character trait, it is the way she's written.  It is as if nobody is keeping the book for her character development, so whichever "Mary" fits that writer's story line gets inserted.  Need flighty irresponsible Mary?  OK!  Wait, this story needs grown up, insightful and supportive Mary?  Got it!  It has been better since she's acquired Joannie (still quite mysteriously), but still not consistent.  I certainly hope Aunt Deb left her a shit-ton of money, because otherwise there's no way she could support a child with all the different careers and locations she's flitted back and forth between.

Fanfic writers do a better job with Mary.

That was such a cop out. Of course, Five 0 never faces real consequences.

Now Tani’s brother.

She certainly fits into Five 0 with her bending of the law. Lou's a great mentor too, going right for the cover up and not actually sitting down and talking with her. But he also kidnapped someone out of his jurisdiction. Oh wait, someone told him he was right so it's ok.

Of course Steve shoots the getaway driver in the head in the middle of a public street. What could possibly go wrong? Never mind that he thought he shot a cop and someone got shot in custody in the same day. Stress what?

This was ludicrous even for them. Why even bother with the 15 seconds of Steve's guilt?

It's interesting in the 8 seasons I've watched this he can never shoot any tires out even when he's not using something more powerful than a handgun, but not this episode.  He managed to shoot the driver dead center.  I did wonder about the logic of earlier not shooting in the middle of a public street to shooting right in front of The Palace.  Isn't that a tourist spot?  As far as shooting in the middle of a public street, that's never stopped them before.

No soldier would shoot at tires, not only military mine resistant vehicles but regular cars have been shipped with run flat tires designed to hold up for at least 50 miles for a while.

Better to shoot the driver and have a major car crash on a main street in downtown Honolulu after saying they couldn't shoot up the bank. I mean, ok, but the shooting the tires wasn't really the point there.

There are many things that a soldier wouldn't do that they show on H50.  Well then I have to ask, why in the heck is he shooting at the back of cars in a crouched or kneeling position.  Is he hoping to shoot the trunk or gas tank?  What the heck is he doing.  You've seen it before.  Why bother shooting.  You're behind the car and you're not going to be able to shoot the driver in the head from the position you're kneeling in.  Is it better to shoot the gas tank and would it cause an explosion?   And yes I know that I've punctuated incorrectly, but I'm too lazy to edit.

Charmed? I just caught him in those reruns earlier this year. That was when I stopped watching it originally. You're right, he hasn't changed much in about 10 years!
