I'm re-watching Season 2 as well and really don't get this "OC Angels" thing. I thought Lou was creepy (and Vicki was spot-on in her analysis of him as a creep) and for all his talk about wanting a certain type of spokesmodel (high GPA, healthy-looking), the girls looked like strung-out porn starlets at their first photo shoot…and I could have done without his appreciative asides about the girls to the photographer. Yuck.

Tammy was really pretty, I thought, and I could well believe that more guys hit on her than her bleached-out, raccoon-eyed daughter. (Lindsey, they do make clump-free mascara, check it out.) I don't understand how Tammy hooked up with Lou at 18. I just look at the guy and he's not attractive, not charming, not charismatic.

Well, I think Lou was rich. Aren't the gates and house pictured in the opening, Lou and Tammy's home from when they were married? Edited by MissMel

According to a interview with Peggy Tanous at Rumorfix, Bravo is casting for new OC housewives.

Peggy said, "...I know they are casting because several of my friends have been called. They are definitely casting for new women.”

Watching S4 and holy crap, Jeana is seeing her parents for the first time in 5 years?? She has Colton with her and asks her dad, "When's the last time you saw Colton?" and her mom answers, "when he was a baby." WTH is that about? Jeana mentions being occupied with the kids' activities and schedules, but really, it's not a big deal to fly to Wisconsin from the OC every year, is it??

That episode made me even sadder about Jeana's family life. She focused so much time and energy on a husband who couldn't bother having the basic modicum of respect or civility towards her, and sons who are following suit. I just wanted to smack Shane when he was so nasty to her, and in front of other people, when she went to see his game in Illinois. Jeana just shrugged it off as the boys learning Matt's behavior but it's depressing…and I don't think Jeana realized that her sons are going to go on and treat their girlfriends and wives in the same crappy way.

This actually reminds me of the very first reunion for the OC. It wasn't hosted or mediated by anyone. The women were just together in someone's yard watching clips of the past season and discussing them. I remember being appalled by how easily they dismissed the behavior of their children. They even talked about some of the criticism they got and brushed it off as people simply not understanding how things worked in the OC. I liked the laid back feel of the reunion, but I was very shocked that the women hadn't seemed to learn anything from watching the season back.

Shane commented on a piece about him on Stoopid Housewives.  It looks like he's trying to re-make his image, now that he's a conservative real estate professional and all.  Not sure who he is trying to convince that he played baseball for the Oakland A's.  Playing for their minor league team and playing for the A's are not the same thing, and everybody pretty much knows that.  Also, the lad really needs to brush up on his grammar skills, or hire a ghost writer.

"Hi everyone. Not gunna lie, I have never read a blog in my life about me till I saw this one. Figure most blogs or post about me would probably say the same stuff. No one really has a clue what I am even doing, but speak negatively as if they do. I am very much doing Real Estate and only actually started a few weeks ago, so just getting going. Yes, I also played professional baseball for 4 seasons with the Oakland A’s followed by a serious knee injury and never played again. Yes, I also charted 5 million dollar Yachts in Newport Beach while I found my self after a basically 24 year career and life of baseball. In the meantime, I started a beta website geared towards helping the best, most qualified Doctors be more easy to find. I wanted to help the people get the best treatment. My good friend Isaac Casados whom I met through starting the site, is now a venture partner of mine working towards building and suppling Heath Centers with the best Doctors for their members. After starting DocDiscover, I went on to acting and modeling where I was represented by LA Models, one of if not the best agency in Los Angeles for men. I was a lead actor in two Independent films, while having two featured extra roles as well. All within two years. I loved acting, but I love my girlfriend much much more and never wanted to be in roles that would make her feel any bit of discomfort. I have since moved on to Real Estate where within 4 days of my license being official, I had a client make an offer on a property in Newport Beach for 6.7 Million. Sucks but didn’t get excepted. Thats where I am at for the few who cared to look. I may not have succeed in things or even tried past a certain point, but those came in two of the most brutal and competitive industries there are in this world. Giving your body to the game day in and day out for 9 months straight. I have done more than 90% of the world would even dream of doing, and I am just getting started. I want to help, and I want to help a lot. More to come."

Good God, what was that? I started counting mistakes in grammar, spelling and correct word usage and ran out of toes and fingers. I'd be so embarrassed if I put something like that out for the public to see. Guess it's good to be too stupid to know that you are.

ETA...does that bit about not wanting to upset his girlfriend with his "movie roles" mean he was doing porn?

That was so painful to read. It's the perfect example of an idiot trying to sound "smart." It's pathetic, really. This shmuck came from a privileged background and I would imagine that the high school in Coto was decent. There's no reason (other than he was/is a lazy douchebag) that he should write like that.

At least put your two brain cells to use and know enough to hire a ghostwriter. I hear that Aviva may know of some for hire.

I shouldn't be surprised at what a dummy Shane sounds like.  That piss poor grammar -- sheesh!  Ah, still a douchebag, right?

Well, he crapped out with baseball, modeling, acting & I couldn't figure out the other bullshit/nonsense -- er, charting boats & some sort of business startup which sounds like he had little to do with.  So mommy's taking him by the hand in real estate.  Will he crap out with that too?  Probably.  He's still so fuckin' smug -- but for absolutely no reason I can see.  He's a moron & his personality sucks.  He's just a completely charmless asshole.  Yeah, he'll really go far.  OK, so when you crap out with real estate, what's next for ya, Douchebag Shane?  Flippin' burgers at Mickey D's or turning tricks on Rentboy?

Wait, Peggy says she's "in production" on 2 shows?? Er, huh?? What in the fuckety fuck?

In Peggy-Speak, a YouTube video is a "show."  She has multiple "shows" on her YouTube channel, including:

Peggy Tanous interviews Lynne Curtin.

Peggy Tanous speaks about Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Peggy Tanous' favorite beauty products.

She's undoubtedly hoping to be discovered and turn her home videos into an actual television show.

I've been watching re-rusn of this show, and I love the first two seasons so much! Slade and his costumes! What a change from a man who tried to work, spend time with his kids, and had a kept woman. I bet Jo is so glad she got out of that mess! People were okay with letting their hair down, and not being dressed to the nines every time. I just saw the episode where Shane brings over that girl from Canada, and people act as if he brought over someone from Romania or something. They asked if she spoke Canadian! I can't even remember all the gems, but there was so much snarky goodness.

I was watching season 5 on hulu recently. This is the season that the show fully went from day to day to.contrived gatherings and bickering. It seems to.happen mid season.

The first half of the season had Gretchen/slade going to Vegas alone to celebrate a friends party, gretchen going to Michigan to see her late fiances kids, Tamra hosting a party for her eldest daughter sans housewives, even show if Vicki and don renewing their vows alone.

I noticed that.the Tupperware party was the turning point. You had Tamra/Vicki not attend (made sense since both had issues with Gretchen)... but Alexis acts jealous of another woman talking to her husband. Totally believable and not contrived at all..and I even loved one of the friends saying that Jim wasn't even good looking lol

After that episode..it seemed like all the housewives would do was bicker and attend functions they wouldn't have done before.

At the time, it was different...but looking back..seems a waste.

Finally, I noticed the talking heads were a mix of being filmed at the time of filming and later on.

Can we talk about the kids here? I was so annoyed when Kara talked about Berkeley like it was all hippies and druggies. The school is highly academic, highly ranked, and highly competitive. Most of the tree protestors weren't students, and while there are some school protests, for the most part, people are focused on academics. And most colleges are highly liberal, but even a place like Berkeley has a decently large republican population. It just pissed me off the way she spoke about the school. Of course, I'm from the Bay Area, and many people here either went to Berkeley or Stanford or both, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

  • Love 3

Kara was an idiot, and probably still is.  If that is all she took away from her time up there, she clearly didn't get out much.  When I hear people like her describe Berkeley that way, I think of a doctor I know who studied there in the 60's.  He was so involved in academics that he was barely aware of the "hippie" stuff that the rest of the Country thought had taken over the entire community (thanks in large part to the mainstream media).  It's nice that Kara finished her college career at UCLA, but it seems all she got out of it was a husband.  Unless I missed it, all she's done since then is send out multiple Tweets every other day.

  • Love 1

Thank you Bella! The annoying part was she was actually not totally dumb academically. And later in the episode, her mom mentioned her leaving every Thursday night to be with her boyfriend through the weekend. So my guess is, she never actually talked to anyone or really made friends while there.

I bet if she did any of the STEM majors, she would have had the same experience as the doctor. Anyone I know who graduated from Berkeley always talks about the academics, and never the hippies. I bet the administration and students were more than happy to let her transfer to UCLA.

I recently got a smart TV and am watching the old seasons of this show for the first time.

I can barely get through Season 6. Easily 50% of it is on FF. I just can't stand Alexis, and Peggy bores me to death.

Can someone explain Alexis' tagline to me? "And my body, it's simple." What does she mean, because I don't know.

For the record, I don't think she's that pretty and neither does my husband. Her face looks like a man. If it wasn't for implants and bleach and hair extensions and fake eyelashes and a shxt ton of makeup, she'd be very mannish indeed.

Of course, it's probably because of how awful all the other kids are, especially Lynne's. Although with Lynne for a mother, how else could they have turned out. Even bimbo Gretchen and creepy Slade called it.

It's actually "and my body, it's sinful". Sort of a play on her being a sexy christian.

Shane, honey, it hasn't been the DRE for nearly two years.  It's BRE.  Except for some legal reason you're not even supposed to use BRE.  Just say "CA Real Estate License # 01958294.

Also?  I admired the effort he put into writing the thing.  But it read like some rich kid who THINKS he's trying really, really hard.  Shane has no idea what real hard work is.  And he likely never will.  For kids like Shane, it's all about who he knows.  (Oh okay, whom.)  Mama Jeana will keep feeding him real estate leads.  And the soulless, fame-whoring boys and girls of the OC will think it's ultra-cool to have a celebrity helping them buy their first mini-mansion.  You'll be fine, Shane.  Quit yer bitchin.

Anyone watch Alexis on that horrible David Tutera show Celebrations?  Her acting continues to be bad.  She throws a tantrum over a dress.  Gets in Jim's face at their SkyZone location (OKKKKKK) and 'demands' a wedding like ceremony for her vow renewal.  Vapid as ever and still trading on her body.  Glad she's off the show.

I'm finally on Season 7, and is this woman dumb and stupid!!!  Although I have to admit, it's become a bot more comedic than just plain annoying like it used to be.  Her "news anchoring" is abysmal.

Is she still married to that creep xsshxlx?

What happened to Vicki's face between Season 6 and Season 7?  She looks like a different person, especially in the intro.

I'm watching Season 7 and would like it if someone would share their thoughts on the Briana elopement.

I don't have kids, but to me it seems like Vicki is being incredibly selfish and making this all about her and how hurt she is.

I understand that hearing your daughter eloped would not be a Mom's first choice, but once it is done, does Briana deserve all this grief in her first weeks as a newlywed? She is, in fact, a new bride. Shouldn't people just be happy for her?

I really find Vicki's reaction horrible.

Shelby - I can understand a mother's natural hurt at being excluded, but Vicky makes EVERYTHING in the fucking world about Vicky.  Always has, always will.  Some Moms are just like that - you either learn to live with it, learn work-arounds, or both.  It helps if you develop a thick skin and the ability to outlast your mother's narcissistic tendencies by guile, guilt or other clever tactics to bring them to heel and make them human.  It takes a lifetime, let me tell you!  :-)  Brianna doesn't have the guts or fortitude; otherwise having a child would have totally changed that dynamic, IMHO.

Vicki's reaction was horrible and I think Vicki is a very damaged person who did a ton of damage to her kids, but I also think her reaction to the elopement was mostly about Ryan. Michael and Uncle Whatshisname also acted pretty tense about the whole issue, plus Ryan did turn out to be scary, plus Brianna had been floundering since her HS boyfriend dumped her, plus vering wildly from identity to another and acting like breaking up with her boyfriend was the equivalent of getting divorced at 45 with 3 kids or something. I got the impression that everybody thought Brianna rushed into an elopement with a guy they all thought was nuts because Brianna was desperate to get married. To her credit, I thought Vicki was too concerned about Brianna's feelings to say that on camera so her reaction came across as even crazier. Brianna...in my opinion has a lot of issues. First and foremost being that she seemed to want to be middle aged when she was 18 and fell the fuck apart when she broke up with her boyfriend. I get it, she was heartbroken, she was also 22. Pull it together and get your own life! I do give the crazy Vickster credit for letting Brianna and Ryan move in with her when she clearly didn't like him and thought Brianna had made a mistake.

Fozzy, I think you are exactly right--great analysis--but none of that could be known to us till we saw the next season. Thus, the poster who was watching old seasons now will be similarly mystified.

Thanks Fozzy and Gussie!

Well, now I guess I will sit through the rest od Season 7 and also watch Season 8.

Briana and Ryan seemed like a happy little family. That's too bad things went south with Ryan, but I'm intrigued enough by your comment to see what happens (especially since there's nothing on over the holidays).

Matt Keough, is that his name?  Jeanna's husband?  Anyway, it reminded me when my husband and I met them at Hannah's in Rancho Santa Margarita.  Jeanna asked me where my son went to high school then Matt blurted away that anyone who lives in Southern California knows the Keoughs.  Found out his brother went to high school with my dad.  I called my dad later.  Dad said they were assholes.

Funny to watch the first episodes.  Oregon is kicking butt so, this has been a fun NY Day.

Happy New Year my friends!

Wow, it was strange watching the very first ep from about ten years ago, knowing what became of them. Wasn't it weird as fuck that Slade was such a model parent in the beginning? What happened?

Could have just been me, but I don't remember ever thinking Slade was a model parent, more of a weekend Disneyland Dad type. For all of his big talk he seemed to really resent having to take care of his kids himself. I got the distinct impression he moved Joe in so she would be the babysitter when he had his boys on weekends and it just worked out really badly for him and hilariously for me. Slade always came across as a douche-bag poser. I wasn't surprised when we all found out there was no "there" there with his finances, or relationship with his kids, or ability to shower...
