  1. I worked at the post office for three months. Couldn't take any more. I have never had a worse job. The pay was very good but there isn't enough money in the world that would make me go back. Anyway, I always thought the pay and pensions were good because the job was so always excruciatingly boring. And I've dealt with Postal Inspectors. They are bad-ass. There are no light moments with them.
  2. I kinda feel bad for Brooks. He really hasn't done so much to make him so universally disliked. But I've spent my whole life being a person people don't like and it's hard to fix something when you don't really know what it is. I just realized I'm using my deceased aunt's sign on. I know there are people out there who cared about her and I apologize. Signing out right now.
  3. I despise Andy and never watch him. I would be happy if he just disappeared. I don't think all these women needed a lot of help to look like assholes, but he just gets too much pleasure at the meanness of life. Satan is a nice thing to call him.
  4. My name is Savannah. I posted last week about my aunt Kathy who was ub40fan. We had a barbecue at my grandma's. It was a typical beautiful San Diego day. All my aunt's and uncles and Kathy's friends were there. We talked, we laughed, we really laughed after we smoked the rest of Kathy's pot (she only smoked the best), we cried and we ate. Then we went down to the beach and scattered Kathy's ashes off of Sunset Cliffs right at sunset. Final chapter, book Is over. I want to thank you all for all the nice things you wrote. What a kind and giving community you are. This doesn't need to be answered. I won't be back. Thank you all again.
  5. My name is Savannah. You people know my aunt, ub40fan.She showed me this website so I could keep people posted. We laughed about it but I am not laughing now. My aunt Kathy passed away this afternoon during surgery her heart just stopped and they could not get it going again. She was a wonderful person. She introduced me to Broadway, the Beatles, the Bobs (Dylan and Marley), books...and that's just the "B's", as we used to say. She read anything she could get her hands on and she left me with some of that too. She was the smartest person I ever knew. She loved this website, she said some of you were the funniest and best writers she had ever read. I've read the messages some of you left for her and I can only say thank you for being so kind.
  6. Tomorrow I will be getting a cancerous kidney removed. As a morbidly obese diabetic 62 year old woman, my chances are not great and I am scared to death. My biggest fears are for my mother (she's already lost one child--my brother passed away years ago and she has not really recovered from that) and for my grand-nephew, who is 10 years old and my best friend and who really needs me in his life. I know how warm and comforting this community is so I'm going to ask for prayers and positive thoughts now because I know when I'm looking at this before surgery in the morning I will see beautiful heartwarming messages of hope from people who really care. Thank you in advance and hopefully I will see you all again soon.
  7. I just hope we get to see more of Stuart. I really like the character and I loved when he was taking care of Mrs. Wolowitz. He felt needed and he reveled ( is that the word I want?) in it. I could relate to that.
  8. So people pay just to look at him? Maybe say hello and shake his hand? Really?
  9. I was just looking at some pictures of Prince George with William and Kate and they are all so comfortable with each other...it's a real contrast between them and the West family.
  10. Back in the 60's or 70's a woman named Kitty Genovise was murdered right outside her New York apt. while numerous people watched and listened and did nothing to help. We think times are changing and that maybe we're turning into better people but I guess not.
  11. I think the term is " undocumented workers" with the emphasis on "WORKERS"
  12. I want to see who the "Hollywood Legend" is. I swear if it's Sarah Jessica Parker I will never watch another episode.
  13. I feel so bad for Bruce. I feel bad for anyone who has had to hide who they really are. When I moved to my "gay-friendly" neighborhood in San Diego 30 years ago, I made a number of new friends, all gay, all now dead from AIDS. As I got to know them, I heard all their stories and almost every single one had a really difficult, heartbreaking time growing up. They had all moved here from other places as a way to be who they really were. I know Bruce isn't gay, but it's the hiding, the pretending so long that I think is very sad. I admire him for finally doing what he wants. And I would sell my soul to have my friends back.
  14. I 'm old, bought Sundown on vinyl. I still have it around somewhere with all the old Fleetwood Macs and EagLes and America and Steely Dan records I have stashed somewhere. 'I saw him in concert about 30 years ago, mellowest concert I'd ever been to. We had margaritas beforehand and came thisclose to falling asleep. In a good way. Being sung to sleep by Gordon Lightfoot...heaven.
  15. Hi walnut queen, I was attempting to quote you but I screwed it up. What I wanted to ask you about was your earlier reference to Gordon Lightfoot. Are you a fan? Perhaps from the Sundown days?eta: oh look, I think I did it right.
