I really would like to understand how Jorge sees this playing out. Right now he has *some* power because he controls the money. We've seen him tell Anfisa "no" a couple of times and she has to live with it because she doesn't have the cards or the cash. But once they are married, surely she will have cards and access to the bank account. Once that happens, she won't have to ask him for jack. She can spend what she wants, when she wants, and when he complains abou t the bills, she will just give him that dead-eyed look and say "not my problem."

 

Maybe he plans to put her on an allowance.

Somebody posted this shot of Anfisa on Facebook. I may be alone in this, but I don't think Anfisa is ugly. Her look is a little unusual, but I would not say ugly. However, seeing this photo is a little jarring.  It doesn't even look like the same person. Her profile really does not match her front view.  She seems much plainer from this angle.

I've got to comment on your post again.  NOW the song has been running through my head...I had to look up the song on YouTube, since I would have been about 6 or 8 or even younger... Personally, I'd be more proud to say Anfisa is from my country than Nicole!

I am team Anfisa though.  I think she's honest and up-front.  She's a gold-digger and knows it and lets Jorge know it.  She knows there's always sucker guys around so might as well cash in and Jorge CHOOSES to be that sucker.  As long as they have an understanding it's all good in my book.  All relationships don't have to be something I'd want, so I say if it works for them more power to them.  They may not be getting 100% of what they want but nobody does.

I don't understand why it's great to be a nasty person and proud of it.  Anfisa should be ashamed of herself.  I'd be ashamed if I were related to her.  BTW, I don't think people would think she was so cute if she were a black woman, just saying.

Seems to me everyone recognizes Anfisa as a cold-hearted, self-absorbed, money grubbing user, and they would feel the same way regardless of her race. The reason there are people on team Anfisa is because the guy she's using has equally unattractive character traits that he's trying to hide. He's using her every bit as much as she's using him, but while all of her negative BS is out there in the open, he tries to pretend like his motives are other than what they really are. He had a lot to say about not wanting an independent woman, not wanting a feminist, about wanting a marriage with "traditional" husband/wife roles. Then he chose someone who is ISN'T that, simply because he is blinded by her physical assets. That makes him a hypocrite, and worse, because he has convinced himself that she'll change, and he's going to try to make her change, in part by tightly controlling the purse strings.  He may believe his own bull, but we don't, and we find his whole attitude revolting. People are cheering for Anfisa because they can't stand Jorge. Not because she's white. Bringing race into it seems like a massive stretch. To me at least. I haven't seen any indication of that sort of bias here.

Why is it River's business who his sister marries?  His behind needs to be in school, or looking for a job or something.  It's not his business  and he needs to STFU.  I think he's her little brother, she should tell him that she used to wipe his ass and he doesn't get a say in who she marries so fuck him and his opinion.  And WTF is he saying that Pedro MADE Chantel lie?  I hope he watches this show and sees how wrong he is, what a loser River is.

I think Alla and Matt should have talked about the kind of wedding they were going to have before she came to the US.  

Poor Alla, she's right about Matt though, his family is way too involved in his life.

It was an interesting moment when Nicole said she'd NEVER convert to Islam and Azan said he'd NEVER convert to Christianity. I don't suppose it has ever occurred to either of them to discuss how they plan to raise their children. (Assuming May won't be an only child.)

I think the fact that neither Azan nor Nicole would be willing to convert, should be a deal breaker.  Danielle, Nicole and Tanya - I’m starting to believe that a lot of plus size American women go to the Middle East to find grooms. 

I hate to break it to River, but Chantel doesn’t appear to be as innocent as he seems to believe.  I find it creepy that he is so emotionally invested in her love life.  I would like to know how her getting married “hurts” him. The fact that he is more upset that Pedro, a perfect stranger, lied to him rather than his own sister, seems odd. I think they are out of line for blaming it all on him.

I felt sorry for Alla, because I thought she should be allowed to have the beach wedding of her dream.  However, she seems happy with the venue that Mery Ann found, so I am glad it worked out.

Jorge and Anfisa seem to have the same conversation over and over; I find it annoying. I hope she goes back to Russia.

Not giving Alla the beach wedding due to Matt’s previous beach wedding is really shitty of all of them. For frack’s sake, just go to the Florida key’s or Cali and get married.  Alla is too good for Matt.

I think some of it is cultural.  I remember reading an article years ago about anorexia and in a poll, the majority of white teenage girls felt they were to heavy and the majority of black teenage girls felt they looked good as is or could use some extra pounds.  The only time I've ever felt like that was when I weighed 108 pounds and looked like a bobble head.

The casting for this season is not great. Given that this show is ultra-contrived, they should have cast at least one couple where at least one of them has affect to their voice. No one is camera-ready or has any sliver of charisma, and it makes the long wait between laugh-gasp moments really tedious. Sure, Anfisa probably sleeps in her spider lashes and her face is always ready for filming, but she's got the dead shark eyes and the flat monotone of a Kardashian on Ambien. 

I like Alla, but I find it hard to get upset on her behalf. The timeline on this doesn't make any sense...we're really supposed to believe that with a wedding two weeks away, she really thought a beach wedding was a possibility? As an elopement, sure, and maybe that's what she was expecting...but it didn't seem like it. Honestly, anything more than a private ceremony with a small handful of witnesses (Max, Matt's mom, presumably a sane family member/friend who doesn't hate Alla on principle that we haven't seen on camera yet) seems ill-advised. It's a fourth wedding for him, second for her, money appears to be an issue, no one stateside other than the mom seems remotely supportive/excited, Max doesn't speak English and will probably be incredibly confused...just have something intimate, private, and meaningful. But nah, can't do something that makes that much sense....and a stripper-tastic bachelor party for a 43 year old four-timer seems like a great plan, too.

Chantal's parents must have coddled the shit out of their children. It was creepy, watching this woman in her mid-twenties whining to her younger brother about what "Mommy and Daddy" think, rather than approaching them directly. I'm being harsh and unfair probably, but any grownass adult who constantly refers to their parents and mommy and daddy should get a grip. 

I have nothing else to say about Nicole and Azan, and I hope they exit stage left. She needs therapy and a basic education, and he needs to learn how to emote for the next fat girl he tries to grift.

I'm still rooting for Anfisa to rip Jorge to pieces, one greasy misogynist piece at a time. I loved when he was like "so what if I promised to buy you expensive things?" That was the entire deal, buddy; you buy her all the obnoxious designer things she desires, and she tolerates climbing on top of you until your credit is perma-fucked or she gets too bored, whichever happens first.

Thank you for posting that!  I have been thinking it the entire show and wondering why he's doing it and doing it so badly.  In Morocco, there is an excellent hair stylist on every corner.  I have gone there to get my hair done for special occasions because they are so cheap and fabulous.  He must be doing it himself and doing it badly.  There is no reason for his hair to look like that.

I'm spending too much time this season noticing their hair, Dani's odd red color, River's unkempt bush, Mohamed's DIY partial head shaving, Chantal's clip on's, Nicole's lack of a hair style.   It's too much LOL.

I feel deeply sorry for Alla.  Matt is beyond schmucky.  I don't what sort of act he put on before she arrived in America that convinced her that he was a fully-realized grown man worth marrying.  Her comment last week about this country being a source of opportunities for her and her son was a bit of a red flag, but at this point, I don't blame her.  Get what you can, girlfriend.

Jorge deserves everything that's coming to him if he doesn't send Madame Moneybags back home on the next plane.  Anfisa-who-is-absolutely-not-20 is so bold and plain-spoken in her disdain for Jorge that it's hard to dislike her, quite frankly.  He is either a glutton for punishment or he truly can't find any other girl whatsoever in this country.  Like, no one.

I don't care one bit about Azan or Nicole.  The only person who matters in that absurd scenario is her tiny child who was left at home with relatives for more than a month.  Nicole needs to get her ass home to handle her responsibilities.  I still can't get my mind around the fact that she willingly left that baby for five weeks.  That's a long time in the development of a child that young and you don't get those days back, not that Nicole gives a crap.

As for Chantal, Kid of 1990's Kid 'n Play fame seriously needs to back down on the scorned lover act.  That's how he comes across.  I totally understand that he's pissed off at the notion of his sister marrying a guy who fits the stereotypical mold of someone who's only interested in her to gain citizenship, but seriously.  It's her life and she's a grown woman.  Half my life ago, when I turned 21, I eloped with (well, let's call him what he was/is) an opportunistic, jobless, druggie manwhore.  My parents were beyond upset, but at a certain point, my family took a hands-off approach and hoped I would eventually come to my senses (three years later, I did).  They basically chose to keep the peace in the interest of maintaining a relationship with my immature ass, something I'm deeply grateful for 20 years later because I know how difficult it was.  As for my brother, he was disappointed that I was making such a terrible decision, but he didn't act like I was cheating on him.  Kid needs to get a grip.  Chantal is the one who should be blamed.  I love the preview clip for next week where Pedro says, "They don't trust Pedro because of you."  Preach it, Pedro.

At this point, I'm doubtful that any of these yahoos will actually get married.

YES. This family is weird. 24 hours after she's dropped this bombshell, and she hasn't spoken to her parents? Nobody picked up a phone? And then her brother wants to talk to her, and when she shows up, the first thing out of her mouth is "why did you want to talk to me?" Why do you think, dumbass? It infuriates me that she's STILL not owning any of this, and is not standing up for Pedro at all.

Anfisa FTW! She is being completely honest. If he enough of an idiot to continue to buy her stuff then he gets what he deserves. Why does he call her "my love"? It reminds me of what an 80 year old would say. 

Why is Matts mom the one to discuss wedding plans with Alla? Where the fuck was Matt? God he is such a pussy. And why does Matts family have to be there for wedding number 4? Why not go by yourselves and have a party when you get back?

Nicole as much of a pouty brat as she is. I can totally see Azan pulling the religion card when ever they disagree. Can someone just end this nightmare? She has been in Morocco for a month and doesn't understand that people pray 5 times a day and women can't go into a mosque? Give me a break. And Azan complains about her clothes but they were walking through the souk and it never occurs to either one of them to buy her something more appropriate?

I finally figured out what it is about Chantal that bugs me so much:  She NEVER opens her teeth when she talks.  She literally lies through her teeth.  Could that scene with her brother BE any more contrived?  Bizarre.  

I like Alla.  I don't like Matt.  

I still can't with Nicole.  She's just BLURGH for me.  Azan isn't much better, with all that laughing at her and calling her lazy.  In one talking head, he seems to genuinely like her... and then he actually spends time with her, and he legit seems to hate her.  Also bizarre.  I wish Nicole's family would LET. No, she can't be faulted for any type of misinformation, but that doesn't mean she is not a golddigging vulture who probably uses her body as a cash register for the highest bidder. If she is being honest - that she is purely with him ONLY for very very high priced gifts and cash, opportunities, then what is the difference from a high paid escort, with a green card to boot. Not someone I would want for a friend. She doesn't appear to like Jorge at all. Jorge is too young to buy a wife. He need s to get himself to the gym ASAP, gain some more experience with women, and then look for a long term relationship leading to marriage, not this crap.

Don't worry, Jorge, you'll have plenty of cash when CA legalizes mj.  Where does he get off acting all surprised Anfisa is only with him to get stuff?  She always said that so it's no surprise it was never about love.  I like how she turned the tables on him and asked if he'd want her as much if she was overweight.  It's so obvious he wouldn't, but she should accept his weight?  What an ass.  He promised her the world before she came over and is now discovering what that means.  He'll be back online in no time trying to buy someone else.  

I get so mad when I see Nicole neglecting her child.  It makes her such a loser in my book.  She's lazy intellectually, physically, career-wise, and as a parent.  Thank goodness that adorable little girl has Nicole's family to give her some stability because as a parent Nicole isn't worth shit.

Chantel said her family's reaction to her engagement is why she didn't want to tell them in the first place.  Great, so now she has the engagement AND the lies to contend with, which is way worse than just the engagement.  None of her reasoning makes sense.
