His smile is so uneven that he looks like one side of his face is paralyzed. He should really consider suing whoever the butcher was who fucked up his face. I could make an old Duggar joke here, but he has to live with this for the rest of his life.

Maybe he used a 'certified' Christian dentist or whatever the call it?  You know someone whose only credentials are being the 'correct' type of Christian?  Let's look at their history of claiming credentials for themselves. Jill is a midwife, they are both 'missionaries, Jana's a concert pianist, gardener, home flipper and everything in between,  Jinger restores cars among other things, counselors for marriage, porn addiction, incest,&  sexual abuse need only be the 'correct' type of Christian.  So who knows.  Maybe Derick just went to some guy who prays the 'right' way and hung a shingle on his door.  It's not like they don't do it.

OK saw the picture - why does Derick always looked so stoned?  I mean he looks like he's so freaking high all of the time.  If it were weed he'd probably be gaining weight, maybe it's something else.  I wonder if he's a drug addict.  Maybe he just wants to stay in Danger America to keep away from Jill's family who might figure it out.

Boxes are some of the best forms of entertainment  on the mission field? All righty then! I might be wrong but it seems that "entertainment" and "mission field" don't really jive together. Even when one is missioncationing, I can't see handing out DumDums as being entertaining, and I don't think people consider a missioncation as entertainment.

My cats might agree but I didn't have to enter the mission field for them to enjoy boxes.

That said, Izzy really is cute, and kids his age love playing with boxes.

My mom died of cancer and statements like Cathy's always rub me th wrong way. Like my mom wasn't worth a miracle too?  We prayed and prayed and prayed. She had the best team of doctors in NYC and she still died.

BTW, I am a Christian but am careful how I word things and what I say because it leaves the other person wondering "well, what the heck happened to me???"

Your Mom was most definitely worth a miracle. I like to think that maybe there was a brand new baby born that day that was struggling somehow. That little one got the last miracle given out that day.

I like your kind of Christian best, Marigold

Biggest FU INTERNETZ ever!!!!11!!!!!

"I had girlfriends! I banged them, too! They still think I'm hawt! Jealous H8ers!"

And he chose a virgin with the emotional age of a 12 year old to "covenant marry". Good luck with that, Triple D.

Lolz

Triple D trying to look as worldly as the new kid in town. The asshole.

"We had sex with the lights on, too! I TOTALLY DID IT!"

Just throwing this one out here: It's fascinating that nobody has come forward to talk about the sweet sweet lovin' of Triple D yet.

YET.

I don't know, a lot of people can put on a costume and be all kinds of goofy and fun, then the minute the costume comes off they go back to their shy & reserved self.

I just don't see Derick as a Big Man on Campus.

I agree. He's more like the goofy guy you "let" tag along with you in case you want to get loaded, he can drive.

PS: I'm way nicer now.

I think Derick looks like a stoner because maybe he's been abusing pain medication, but i mean as an unintentional consequence of ongoing pain after his jaw surgery.  He may not think it's drug abuse because he has a legitimate pain problem. Prescriptions are easy to get and you can buy only one pill if you so choose at the pharmacies down there. They don't drive, their work isn't particularly intense...Derick just doesn't seem like he plays with a full deck on a good day.

Here's Izzy. I suspected that the pic I posted yesterday was of Spurge (maybe from a month or two ago), and I think I was right. Izzy is much more blonde, has more hair, and his facial features are sharper.

How is Izzy still in #4s?  My eight month old is already in #5s overnight (and is transitioning to them during the day too).

I doubt Derick does painkillers and just prays the pain away. After all, that's his solution for everything else.

Except when you really need the expertise of a well-educated doctor (or quack oral surgeon). Then, all bets are off...looking at YOU, Cathy.

I'm thinking painkillers are extremely possible.  Praying is great until things get tough in Duggarland.  As demonstrated by both Duggar daughter's baby deliveries.   Things will be taken care of by God...until they aren't and then it's okay to seek medical care.  I'm thinking this is the same for Derrick.

Most people who grew up in the real world outside of The Duggarsphere...even if they waited until they got married, they at least have kissed or made it to 3rd base and usually are well versed in the art of self gratification.

Josh and Anna both grew up Gothard, however neither Derick or Bin did, so for us to expect that they didn't date other people or never held hands with a girl is ludicrous. And yeah, both boys knew about Rosie Palm.

I bet Jilly Muffin only allowed the most basic pain meds when she had her c-section. These people are nothing if not martyrs.

Yeah but only the women are expected to take on pain.  Then men get to either sleep through the woman's labor or have someone make them a sandwich.  So I can see Derick totally needing 'extra' pain relief and becoming addicted rather quickly.

I'm pretty sure, in a good bit of Danger America, you don't even need a prescription for Schedule I drugs.  I know you certainly didn't in Mexico.

That's high-concept performance art, Sew. Through no fault of your own (I imagine there is a gaggle of adults responsible for instilling critical thinking skills in you--those rapscallions), you've automatically defaulted to the more abstract and complex aspects of Duggar "courtship" "rules." I was thinking more along the lines of Derick dry-humping the air and then doing the "no no no, no" finger-waggle that the guys in the stocks did during the Spanish Inquisition segment of Mel Brooks's History of the World: Part I.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Maybe they could fashion a chastity belt out of crepe paper and pipecleaners. Triple D will be working to perfect his interpretive dance for WEEKS.

Note to Dillards, I'd pay good money to see an interpretive dance re: Duggar courtship rules.

That's funny because I'd pay money to never ever ever see Derick and the Missioncationers do an interpretive dance again. My brain still shudders with the cognitive dissonance I got watching their and especially his terminal awkwardness. Can't stand feeling so truly sorry for people at the exact same time I'm feeling massively offended by them.

I should've guessed it was one of those angsty teen lip sync pantomimes. I hate those. Just so corny angsty, but youth groups seem to love them. Their like the Twilight of evangelical youth groups.

I honestly couldn't make it thru the whole video, but the first time I saw the one of those was in the early 90s at middle school youth camp. It was the one where the kids were tempted to smoke, drink, so drugs, steal,  look at porn (seriously think it was just a magazine with a pasted on cover that said Playboy), cut themselves, be bullemic, etc until Jesus intervened, I was very 'What the Heck was that?' I had never heard of cutting or bullemia. Thanks church camp.

However, many of the kids LOVED it. Thought it was sooooo deeeep. Performed it back at church the following Sunday. I can't believe this is still a thing.

That's the thing -- at least to me. This is something that seems "deep" and "meaningful" to (very sheltered) American teenagers. I can't imagine a single person in Danger America finding anything meaningful here. I think that they would just find it confusing (and embarassing). "Maybe it's something kids do in the US?"

What in the ever-loving fuck was that interpretive dance supposed to represent?  I need an interpretive dance interpreter.  I'm sure the crowd found it very enlightening (or at least had something to laugh about later that day).

If you ignore the flailing and focus on the crowd, you can see people covering their faces with their hands, trying not to laugh.
