I don't think so and maybe that was part of the reason she was so sour faced.  The scooter just justifies the fact that her mobility is starting to limit itself (be it her back or what not).  It's poking holes in the lies that Twit is telling herself that you can be obese and still be able to do all that people in a decent weight range can do.

While she may say one thing on the show...she was very clear to point out to the TV viewing audience that the scooter was NOT because she was fat, but because of her messed up back.  I bet you somewhere in that TH was a line about how thin people tweak their back all the time, so ipso facto.....her being in a scooter was not due at all to her weight, but rather to just some freak occurrence that could happen to a skinny person and has nothing to do with her weight.

Which is partially true, people of all sizes have back pain and put out their back.

And you know, if she's serious about No BS, it shouldn't matter why she's in a scooter. Her message is so all over the place. "Don't judge people for any reason! But especially me, because I have good excuses!"

That is exactly the message from Whitney.  In fact, I would go as far as to so that her message is "I don't care who you judge, as long as you don't judge me, because I have an excuse!"

It is what I find most hypocritical about her "No BS" campaign

If you're never supposed to body shame someone, than we don't need constant reminders that PCOS is making you fat.  Because WHY you're fat shouldn't matter, you just shouldn't be judged for being fat no matter why you're fat.

I don't understand why that doesn't annoy more of her fans.

In watching past episodes right up until this one, I've realized just how manipulative she is.  The tears. She turns them on to get people to back off whenever the conversation about her weight or eating gets serious. And now she's just a manipulative bully.

And we don't need constant reminders that you're fat all. "Fat" is in the title of the show. Got it. So show us fabulous. Don't even bring up fat. Wouldn't that be better for the "No BS" campaign? Like, "I'm so not ashamed to be fat that I don't even bring it up because there's no need. My fabulousness makes it so I don't even think about it and neither should you." Instead of shoving it in everybody's face, try making us forget.

I think there's a school of thought in the fat-acceptance community that says "someone's shape/size is none of your god-damned business, so shut the fuck up".

There seems to be another school of thought that adheres to the above, but adds in an attempt to dispel the notion that being overweight/obese is synonymous with being lazy/slothful/gluttonous/etc..

I don't think those two things are necessarily mutually exclusive.

But Whitney is a shitty spokesperson for either.

And I think it's mainly because Whitney can't pass up the opportunity to "tell her story", or can't help insisting on "telling her story" even when it's not appropriate, solely because she wants sympathy/praise.

Setting aside whether PCOS is her excuse or explanation, I think it's indisputable that PCOS, as a syndrome, is a chronic condition that doesn't get cured.  Rather, like conditions such as Lupus, it is at best managed and kept under control through overall comprehensive lifestyle modifications.

Someone who persists in staying out in the sun, who refuses to take their diuretics and who are constantly over-doing it, thus triggering frequent flares, would not be an effective advocate for people with Lupus.  Likewise, someone who at 32 still hasn't learned how to cook, and who over-indulges in the worst sort of simple carbohydrates and processed foods, is not an effective advocate for people with PCOS.

There's a lot to this, and Twit could learn.

Anecdotal, but I'd bet others could relate.

I have an aunt who is, probably what would be considered morbidly obese. I'm in my 30's and she's been the relative size she is as long as I can remember. But what I think of when I think of her is her beauty, her poise, her smarts, the role she has played in my life. She is really similar in features to Delta Burke.  I was a young adult before I realized she suffered due to her size, both medically and mentally/emotionally, as a young child, I could never imagine that about her, because she was a bold, beautiful, confident, loving, intelligent woman to me. She's still that to me, mind you, but I realize the struggles, both emotional and health-wise, her long-term obesity have brought to her.

Whitney is really beautiful. Though over the top, she has a personality that can be winning and infectious, if she'd maybe reign in some of her conceited, snowflakeitis tendencies.  We don't have to be convinced she's a warm, confident, beautiful person (though these attributes lend themselves toward more empathy and acceptance), she's solely trying to convince us she's fabulously happy in this state she's in, a state that is not her fault, by her account.  Her hemming and hawing that's her gospel truth while living a clearly unhealthy lifestyle that doesn't try to limit her negative effects and squawking about what she can do, while display what she clearly can't to how hard it is to do so many things, are proof positive to us that her life isn't fabulous; it also shuts down and out people of all sizes that have body shame. Afterall, many of us don't have excessive weight, PCOS, etc as our issue, and she seems to flat-out invalidate those who don't share her specific mantra.

Whitney's program is about WHITNEY, it isn't about ANYONE or ANY OTHER group, she needs to come clean with that or change her tune to be inclusive, instead of a selfish disgusting example of why  many of us have so much self-hate.

**I worded this horribly and can't seem to edit it to fit what I really want to convey, I apologize.  Maybe I'm selfish for wanting Whitney's message to be more encompassing, maybe I'm just seeking comfort, but I also want to see a Whitney that matures, grows, and is honest, regardless of her size.  I also want her to be in a state of greater mobility. Yes, I do mention in my posts how obese she'd be even in the high 100's or 200-something she mentions, but I don't mean to demean her, I intend to state realities.  Can we please have some honesty in this show and if nothing else, admit 'No Body Shaming" is not her core message? Her core message is "ME ME ME! No matter what I do, how I treat people, accept MEEE!"**

She is!  That was my first impression of her at the beginning of season one.  Gorgeous young girl, with personality-plus.  We didn't care that she was fat--I didn't.  Then she slowly began to show us her brattiness, sense of entitlement, bullying nature towards Buddy, Babs, Glenn.  The way she turns on the crocodile tears, (in the car with the tub of ice cream:  "I'm just h-h-h-hungry...")  The bitchy comments in TH, followed by that awful belly laugh.  And, Lord help me......the bikini wax, Babs shaving her legs, the hot tub, and.....showing the lower 40 acres on the floor in the red leggings.

All of this, all day long, I worded it like an illiterate, at best.

Whitney, some of us wanted to love you because we wanted to learn to love ourselves.

What we found were reasons to question you and deny ourselves acceptance into 'No Body Shame' because we didn't fit YOU, literally, specifically, YOU. True, maybe it says more about us than about you, but perhaps you should re-evaluate the message you're really sending out.

I can't even right now, this was just as appropriate to quote in my latest long-winded response as the one I did.

I can't even right now,I have so many hopes for this show, for Whitney, but she's not even a compassionate..."victim"? I hesitate to even use that in this context, ugh!  This show causes me too many emotional, moral and mental conflicts! I am certainly grateful for all of you, who show me how NOT alone we all are. :)

I had 2 morbidly obese great aunts who lived to be in their late 80's/early 90's.  They were both larger than Whitney and the only limitation they had before death (besides dementia in the latter years) was that they had to walk with canes.  Whitney on the other hand has already shown signs of deteriorating health with her pre-diabetes and sleep apnea.  I don't have the answer as to why some people live long lives in spite of being morbidly obese and some die young because of being morbidly obese.  I think it's just the luck of the draw.

I agree, that genetics are a crap shoot.  Unfortunately, you can't know at 32 if you won the genetics lottery.  You only get that luxury retrospectively where at 90 years old you can brag about your unhealthy habits.

2)  Frankly, Whitney's life and "story" are really only worth a single segment on another show dealing with weight issues generally, or at most, a single one-hour special.  She's not interesting enough to carry an entire series.  Let's face it.  Once you get past the "fat girl dancing" videos, Whitney's basically just another grown-up loser who's still living with their parents.  And so we get shit like penguin 5Ks and moving on a whim and getting a job.

Back then, I was at least willing to entertain the possibility that the dancing arguably qualified as "fabulous", even as much more significant portions of her life (i.e. being unemployed and living at home with her parents in her 30's) put her squarely in the Loser category.

But after the last two episodes, I believe that even the "fat girl dancing" angle was always a lie as well.

And so the problem is not just that Whitney's life doesn't justify a whole series (honestly, I think relatively few people's would).  But going any further than a few hours puts the lie to those parts of Whitney's life that she was trying to sell as noteworthy.

The Fitty Smalls videos...how proud Babs and Glenn must have been.  How is that not just soft fat-porn?  Twit said early on that she was not interested in attracting "chubby chasers."  Who does she think is watching, and enjoying these videos?  No body shame is one thing, but there is also a lot to be said for having some sense of decency, dignity and self-respect.

Does Whit ever practice her dancing? Most of my knowledge of the field comes from books aimed at 12 yr old girls and the ballet, but don't dancers practice? Or does she just show up at the 'class' and do some stuff? OK, she had this video of her dancing which got her the TV show, but is she really a trained dancer? Maybe if she danced more, she'd be able to put her own shoes on.

I mean, I dance at home. I don't call myself Pavlova.

It seems pretty clear that Todd does most if not all of the choreography, and probably 90% of the actual "leading" of the class.

So I guess we just have to ask Whitney:

This is why reality shows featuring terrible people are so popular.  Bad is simply more interesting than good.  It reminds me of a charachter on 'Queen of Jordan' on 30 Rock who's into is something like "I'm happily married and I always pay my taxes."  Who would watch that?

Whenever I see Whitney doing something awkwardly sexual I think how embarrassed her dad must be.  He mom probably just continues enabling her and saying how amazing and wonderful all of Whitney's accomplishments are.  I love Babs, but I think she's one of the main reasons why Whitney is the way she is.

You'd think if she was dancing every day, like a professional dancer would be, hey would work that into the show.  So they're either selectively editing it out or she only dances for an hour a week.

I would love to have someone follow her around all day and record what she does.  She works 1 hour per week teaching dance class and probably ships a few T-shirts.  Is she watching TV?  Driving around to different drive throughs to satisfy her binge eating?  Reading what the world says about her online?

IMO, this show doesn't need to focus on good or bad, it would just be more interesting if Whitney actually had interesting things to do in her life. They should combine it with some elements of the show Fat Chance and show Whitney working out & changing her eating habits in an effort to work toward a specific goal. As it is, Whitney is just going about her boring life with occasional small scale things going on with her dance class or her boring relationship.

I think this show started out trying to inspire people with the No BS message, but has slowly morphed into a Kardashian-style reality show that just follows around a "personality" with no intended message or purpose. The problem is that Whitney's life is nowhere near interesting enough to carry a show like this.

If they want to continue that, they should push for the people in her life to actually confront Whitney with some things. The fake funeral intervention shouldn't have ended with Whitney just walking away with no actual follow-up. It should have been more like an actual intervention with her family/friends telling her what's going to change with their relationship with her if she doesn't take proactive steps right now. She should have been required to have a real discussion about her plan to address her serious health problems. This would at least be interesting and real drama instead of the manufactured drama that we see now.

I agree abt her witless, thoughtless behavior towards her parents.  Lack of self-respect and a fucking perspective!  This is what I think abt most of Whit's dis-abilities due to her weight : when you can't tie your own shoes, shave your own legs,  get on a bike,  walk up stairs,  dance for more than 45 minutes,  sit in one airplane seat, wear regular clothes,  breathe on your own at night,  etc.....

When does one say to themselves,  "This is not right for me,  I need to do something to enable myself to do normal things.  "

Serious psychosis there to continue eating.

How does one get beyond embarassment of what you can't do-- nevermind how you look.

Yeah, at 400 pounds you must buy 2 seats.  On some airlines, I bet its an entire row.

Yikes. If Whitney has a great deal of traveling to do promoting the book, I guess the publisher pays her travel expenses, even with two seats? I didn't realize that the armrest between the seats can raise back when two seats are required by one person. It's been a long time since I've been on a plane. Sorry. Driving might be prohibitive just for the time factor. Then there's the train.

I'm so looking forward to tonight's episode.

I must say that I was also surprised at how crappy Whitney looked for her first day of the "internship". Hair not done, no makeup, dressed like she was going to clean her house. Not exactly the way to impress, especially since they ended up going out to lunch later. Too bad if it's early and far. It's once a week?

Just watching last weeks rerun, episode 5. Man, how those radio people are laughing at her, not with her. Just plain making fun of her watching from the window for the bagel "run". Whitney says she knows when people are making fun of her, so what happened here? I mean, this could open the door for a career in radio again if it were for real. Is everyone in on the joke?

Watching the "Extra Fabulous" version of this episode, which shows a deleted scene from original.  They have to leave out something to show us the Extra scene, they left our the Roy getting Whit a larger chair at the restaurant. Can't wait to see the Extra scene.

Whit is so interested in Roy, the larger radio station guy. When she was explaining her Beg back leg thing, the other guy was the one asking her questions about it.  Whit gets up & said "ROY,  I'll show you what I mean" then proceeds to lay down in front of him. Poor Roy with his WTF look on his face.

Oh, they're showing the Extra scene now.  Her & Babs are looking at possible new cars for Whit.  She's looking at cars instead of SUV's.  She can barely fit  into any of the cars, including a small sporty convertible which she looks like a sardine in. The sales guy is funny, insinuating she won't be able to fit in  a car vs an SUV & he ends up being right.  Hysterical. Once again, they should have put this scene in the original episode & left out the one showing Roy getting her a larger chair at the restaurant.

Yes, she is. I don't blame her, I think Roy is pretty cute. Of course, if she were so in love with Lennie she wouldn't be interested in Roy. But it's clear that Whitney is not in love with Lennie, she just wants to have a boyfriend. Almost any boyfriend will do, even one who is clearly not very interested in her.

I think they tried to do that last season. They showed Whitney seeing a nutritionist, working out with a trainer, and choosing a salad rather than pasta when she went out to eat. The problem is Whitney didn't follow through with any of those things and has only gotten heavier and more disabled so they couldn't go down that story line road again this season.

Agree mamapajama. Who is editing the show if they leave out that trip to the car dealer? It was pure comedy gold. Joe was absolutely right, Twit is used to driving a big car getting into a small car is going to feel very different. Plus she's way too big to be in a small car, and don't get me started about her in the sports car-that was probably a safety issue. She gets more and more unlikable with every episode doesn't she?

It's like ten pounds of baloney in a five pound bag.  And Babs goes right along with it.

I don't know why, but the thought of a grumpy ass Whit on a scooter (boa and all) made me chuckle, and not because of her size.  It's because of her self-absorbed nature.  She's almost stunted when it comes to behaving like an adult. We see it in so many of her interactions and situations.  It's just so very Whitney to put on a 'tude, and angrily roll through a parade at .25mph.

I also noticed how she kept a slow pace on the scooter, and in typical Twit fashion, was neither concerned nor cared that she was holding up the rest of the parade participants.

Loved when Whit was yelling "Doesn't this seat go back more?"

OHMEHGERD! Sue the car makers of the world because they don't cater to Twit's specific needs, must mean they're discriminatory!

You guys. Whitney is THRILLED that she can FIT INSIDE A CAR. Her standards have officially reached rock-bottom.

Of course, makes her more of a special snowflake while simultaneously reinforcing her "I'm being discriminated against!" mantra.

What are those????

Forget it. I made the mistake of looking it up online. What a freak show. Emphasis on freak.  That'll kill Glenn if he ever sees it.

Whitney looked absolutely miserable when she was driving the scooter in the parade. I felt sorry for her. I understand, as many posters have noted, that she is at least partially responsible for her overweight condition; nevertheless, I felt bad because she was genuinely upset.

Good point grayson.

A few more:             She does not have to work to maintain a very comfortable lifestyle.

She apparently has a trainer that is dedicated to her health - the same can't be said for Whitney.

She has parents and friends who lick her boots and will jump the second she snaps her fingers.

She has TLC footing the bill for anything her chubby little heart desires

She's been told time and time again that her weight issues are only going to get worse if she doesn't take action now.

She refuses to accept responsibility for her actions.

So taking all that into consideration I don't feel so bad for her.  I see people every day with real problems - not of their own making.  My concern and sympathies are aligned with them.  Not a selfish, immature, irresponsible, childlike adult whose parents and friends are doing her no favors by treating her like a two-year old.

I just hope Whitney is banking the money from this show because she will need it for assisted living care.  If she makes it that far.

Not just no Whitney shaming, but no calling Whitney out on her dysfunctional, addictive behaviors.

I think Whitney's goal is "Whitney worship" but thats a few more seasons down the road.

She is interested in Roy, and of course she assumes that because SHE is interested in Roy that HE is interested in her and must want to touch her everywhere even though he really doesn't.

But I do think that she singled out Roy because he is bigger and she thinks she might have a chance with him.  And I think the other dude was wearing a wedding ring so.....
