Oh Frank - you have someone else watch your fish not once, not twice but three times and each person messes it up.  Then you want to complain that it's not your fault.  You didn't look like you were busy.  He really hates women.  You send the female marines back to where they came from? Glad he's gone now.

Agree with you, Crucial. Frank hates women. Period. To say he'd send female Marines back to where they came from? I hope he catches hell for that comment.

But the woman who lied about the fish needs to go as well. It's on film, lady, wake up.

I totally agree with you Major Bigtime she needs to go too.  Plus she couldn't even keep the times she needed for her food straight - 7 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes.

Um....did Frank actually go on Hell's Kitchen, lose and talk about how he discriminates against women while employed as a marine?  I think this might violate something or another, just instinct from being a military brat and married in.  The asian side of my family joined the military and became cooks and US citizens during WW2.  As much as this guy hates women, I can't believe he affirmed he used his marine career to discriminate against them.

Well, yeah, it's a warrior culture, and far too many people think that means women should be relegated to support services and rewards.

Unfortunately for Frank, he's pretty much narrowed his future prospects, which this show might have helped, to working anonymously for some MRA who thinks being sued is a small price to pay for sexual harrassment. He just acknowledged having a proud history of systematic gender-based employment discrimination, and knowingly going against the policies of his employer to do it (and he swore an oath not to do that).

All anyone's lawyer ever has to do to clean out someone who hires Frank is show that clip. Frank's a lousy boss and a lousy marine, and America heard it out of his mouth. Bad cess to him.

Frank is not representative of the US Marine Corps or its values. He is a bullshitter, a little boy playing make believe in dress blues.

When he "gets" a female Marine he "sends her back"...? Because an E-5 is in charge of who stays and goes? Bullshit, chief.

Didn't send *her* back?

http://media.defense.gov/2011/Oct/18/11328/-1/-1/0/111018-M-0000C-002.jpg

I don't know if he's mentally off, or a pathological liar, or how they do shit in foodservice but it's hard for me to imagine him in the uniform.

What a clown.

I have an opinion of Frank but I have to ask, before I say it, because I genuinely don't know. Do the Marines have an official "cook" MOS? I mean, I was in the army and I know the army does, but I thought the Marines tended to send the "service jobs" back to the Navy... so was that really his job in the Marines?

Well, he says here that he's the executive chef to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and also that he wanted to be on Hell's Kitchen because he's never been recognized for his work, so that's going to be a fun homecoming for him.

He makes it sound like he was diverted into the Corps after getting in trouble on the street in Brooklyn, which explains a lot.

And I found on the marine corps website that it is possible to be a food service specialist in the Marine Corps, so it's possible that is what Frank did in the Corps.

And now my opinion on this piece of shit.

Hey Frank? The reason you had female marines to merrily shit on and piss on with your great big man dick is because you weren't man enough to work a real man's job. Seriously, the guys in the *band* get more respect than the guys who can't manage to get a better job than *food service*. I mean really, in the military, that's basically being Frank the Lunch Lady.

Sorry, but I know actual women who have Purple Hearts. When a little pisspot "cook" struts his stuff how he hates women and shits on women, I will always point out that he has to do that because it's the only time his dick will ever be bigger than anyone elses. You're a cook, Frank The reason you have female marines around to whip your tiny dick at is because you weren't man enough for a combat role.

I can't believe he'd been in Korea for a year and a half and didn't know anything about how to make his "favorite" Korean dessert.  I admit - I've never heard of it, but I've never been to a Korean restaurant, much less lived there.  He talks about how much he studied "culinary arts" . . . but didn't figure out how to make something he professed to love?  I'm not a chef - just an average cook.  But one of the first things I did after falling in love with tiramisu was to learn how to make it.

And his degrading comments about women were an embarrassment to him and to the Marine Corps.  Good riddance, Frank.

My guess is he wanted the career boost that HK can provide, but considered a cooking reality show insufficiently "manly." So, tool that he is, he overcompensated with an uber-macho alpha male shtick.

I'm so happy not to have to see Frank's prissy face anymore.

For someone who is supposed to be a Marine, he is immature, delusional, and a sexist jackass. He has no concept of team work or how to take responsibility for his own actions. Also, he can't cook. Fuck off, Frank.

Frank overstayed his welcome, so I'm glad he's been put out of his misery. I wasn't that wowed by his culinary skills anyway. Everyone else has covered his misogynist attitude, so I won't belabor that point.

I would have been happy to see the entire Blue Team eliminated because they all sucked. I'm guessing either Kristen or Ariel wins the season.

I have to add to the anti-Frank comments.  Grrrrr.  My grandson is in the Marines right now as was his father (my son) and his grandfather and great-grandfather - four generations proud to serve.  Frank is an embarrassment to the Corps.  I hope the real men he works with are ashamed of him and let him know in no uncertain terms.

Agreed with everyone about Frank, ditto on it all.  I just have to say that I am amazed that in this day and age there are still boneheads like this out there.  And that YOUNG, too.  He's a throwback to another era.  Where would I go to find anyone like that in Brooklyn these days?  He's not only an embarrassment to the Marine Corps but to all Italian Americans out there (like myself).  He's the epitome of the old fashioned posturing misogynist Italian male stereotype.  I expected this in my grandparents' era, but in a 20 something year old in 2016?  What kind of tiny little sociologically backwards bubble would someone have to grow up in today to turn out like that?  I just don't get it.

I don't want to play Devil's Advocate here, but... I'm not sure if Frank was playing up to being a marine, and that's why people were scared to nominate him. He kept boasting about being a marine and all, but was he a soldier? He was described as a "Marine Chef", so I doubt he actually fought in wars and stuff, he just cooked for the soldiers. Not sure if it's been mentioned and sorry if I'm being really thick, but I just saw it as "I worked with Marines. I am a Marine. Bow down to me." He was playing up to patriotism, lying about how important he actually was.

What's worse is that he was no chef, he was a delegator, hence why he never got nominated. He'd be *this* close to fucking something up, then he'd ask someone else to watch it for him whilst he pretended to look busy, and would later blame them for his mistake. Then, when it came to nominations, it'd look as if he was the bloody saviour or something and everyone else miraculously made mistakes apart from him.

Kristin's still my favourite. She really does remind me of Jewel and I don't even know why. I don't think she's the best chef, but she's still my favourite. Dannie can cook but unless she can get on with people she's screwed - she was probably the best performer on the blue team, which is why she stayed, but her lies will be caught out in the future. Jared's similar. Manda's the weakest chef left, and I think she'll fail to get a black jacket.

Ashley and Ariel are top three I think, though Ariel has the maturity of a three year old. Remember when she stropped because her dish wasn't chosen? Remember when she chose to nominate Kristin purely because she "didn't know who else to choose", didn't even ask for her to defend herself, and Kristin wasn't even brought up by Ramsey? Remember when she brought up someone else's dish even though it wasn't ready? I don't want her to win, but I have a feeling she might.

As I said - Kristin's the best.

Oh yeah, how desperate have the "next time" pieces become?

"Jackie. Versus. Kristin." (is only shown in a three minute slot at the beginning)

"Ashley Jared Romance story" (is hardly shown at all, Ashley even insults Jared later on).

And the blue team will come fourth, fifth and sixth.

I think Ashley and Ariel will be finalists, but I want it to be Kristin.

I mean really, in the military, that's basically being Frank the Lunch Lady.

They should have called him that in the show.

Someone tweeted GR about his opinion on Frank's misogyny and he replied 'Trust me, I was not impressed'. Why wasn't anything said on the show then? I can't believe GR only learned about the comments after Frank's worthless behind was finally removed from the premises.

That's why I commented in the thread of the earlier episode where he stated he couldn't work with women that this would have been the ideal moment to send him packing. There would be women in the restaurant's kitchen, so he obviously couldn't be the head chef. Instead of letting him rant on for several episodes, they could have taken a stand and even garnered some press coverage for it.

There was a marked contrast between the red and blue kitchens that has been there for a while.  Now that Jackie's gone there are no real weak links in the red kitchen while the blue kitchen struggles to find anyone who is really any good.  All three of the remaining contestants in the blue kitchen are there simply because they're not as awful as the ones who already went home.  None of them have any real chance of winning and none of them should be finalists.

In the red kitchen I think Kristin and Ariel are the strongest.  Kristin struggled on garnish but it's really the only service she's had any problems in.  Ashley has had more problems than Ariel or Kristin but she's still solidly ahead of anyone on the blue team.  Ariel has been pretty steady as well.  I think this will really come down to which of them does the best job running the pass when they're down to four contestants.

Unfortunately, that would require a greater concern for integrity than ratings.

I know, that's why I added the bit about the press coverage ;-) Seriously though, I feel like an old ranting lady but the general lack of integrity is pissing me off big time and I really wish some TV producers would grow a pair and try to change things.

So Frank put to rest the speculation that his stupidity and misogyny was just the producers editing. He truly is a world class ass, in addition to being a hack cook.

His whole claim to being the Executive Chef for the Commandant of the USMC sounds like utter bullshit. He might have been working in the chow hall one day when the Commandant stopped by whatever based he was on, and poured the water into the powdered egg mix, but that is probably the extent of his cooking for dignitaries.

He will be lucky to find a job in Brooklyn slinging slices of pizza, but I think that might even be above his skill set.

I still think FN is going to team up Frankie and Jackie in some sort of Worlds Biggest Asshat Chefs show.

I just read the link in which Frank describes his culinary career in the USMC, and I am now more convinced than ever he is full of it. He claims to be to have taking up cooking 4 years ago, or 3 years into his enlistment. A cook in the military is usually, where you end up after screwing up in your original MOS, and get bounced, out of it. To believe his lies about being an Exec Chef requires a huge suspension of belief, that a grunt stationed in Korea until 2014, by his admission, was somehow noticed by the Commandant in DC and transferred there to cook for him. Even though the Commandant actually works at the Pentagon, and by any normal thinking, eats at the cafeteria there, which is staffed by civilians. But somehow this clown expects us to believe that the Commandant found this line grunt at a chow hall in Korea, where most Marines eat at field kitchens, and was so enamored with this guy that he orchestrated his transfer, yet the grunt is still a buck sgt after 7 years?

Methinks Sgt. Cala is about to become Corporal or PFC Cala, or maybe even given a Dishonorable Discharge under Section 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice ("conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces"). He made a bunch of sexist remarks on national television, even going so far as claiming he would not allow any women to work under him in his distinctly non-combat role. The Marines will have to make an example of him, one way or the other.

Really? Is there an equivalent NCO offense? It seems like they have way too much direct power over their subordinates not to have something.

Marines call it getting NJP'ed; it usually results in loss of privilege or rank but in some cases will lead to a discharge from service.  Since he's already toward the end of his EAS, it probably means nothing for him.

My guess is he'll lose a rank. The Marines will want to make an example of Frank, and busting him down to Corporal would accomplish that.

I just can't with this show.....

Because really?  No one knows what strawberry ice cream tastes like?  Or banana ice cream?  How is the only one everyone got right was coffee?  Who hasn't had pistachio ice cream before?  He wasn't even picking difficult flavors!  with the exception of corn, bacon and one other one the flavors were pretty common.  I understand when the chefs do the traditional palate testing and he gives them something that is rare.....but strawberry ice cream?  no wonder he tries to distance himself from HK.

As for Frank, I have no idea what makes him think that he can't work alongside women, he doesn't have some sort of job that a woman can't do.  He is scary, he looks like the sort of guy that may be hiding bodies somewhere....probably of all the female marines he "sends back to where they came from."  I guess he thinks we all came from the earth so he is just sending them back there when he buries their bodies.

That was a nice find. I guess he really does work there, although I am still not sure if he is "The" actual chef for the Commandant, or just one of several who are assigned there, which is more likely. Either way, he has created his own shitstorm with his lunkhead behavior and comments. My guess is maybe a demotion, and more than likely he will be the new chef at the Marine Corp Base in Homer, Alaska or some other godforsaken outpost.

On a related note, didn't he claim to be from Brooklyn during the season? The article lists him as a native of Staten Island, which to NYC types is considered the minor leagues.

He's also been in the Staten Island Advance claiming to be from Staten Island. He did say that where he got in trouble was Brooklyn, but since they roll up the streets at night in Staten Island both could be true. They're only a bridge apart.

what kills me is that the marines probably thought that Frank being on HK would be a great publicity boon for the marine corps.

and it could have been....if they had sent anyone but a mentally unstable misogynist.

whoever made the decision to allow him on HK should also be demoted because even the most simple vetting should have uncovered Frank's attitude towards women.  I mean...just look at the picture of him in the article, he looks like he has problems....both of the other people are smiling or attempting to smile and Frank is there looking sullen, angry and about ready to cut someone.

I love the fact that Frank was on the show. I hate that it took this long to boot him off but at the very least, now a lot more people know about his vile opinions about women. The sad thing is that he's generalized all women for being difficult to work with when he is the singular problem to all of his experiences. He's just about as dumb as a brick to realize it.

Great to see this is actually being picked up. But wait, is that a WOMAN in the picture with him? Poor guy. Not.

More press for Frank: http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/story/military/2016/04/04/marine-chef-hot-water-over-comments-women-hells-kitchen/82604926/

Basically the same info in the other. In any case, perhaps he'll learn something from the experience. But I'm not sure he's trainable.

“Frank works with female Marines on a daily basis,” said Gunnery Sgt. Brian Kauten. “He has five that work with him on a daily basis and he works fine with them. What he said was taken completely out of context.”

Hey Gunny, it wasn't the first time he said something like that on the show. It's not editing, he's a bloody eejit. Kauten should be forced to watch the entire season so he can listen to what his boy says in connection to being a marine, not just about women. He's a disgrace (and I'm not even American).

Oh wow, its so great that a man had to explain to the world that everyone just took everything out of context....and that it was a man that was able to explain the feelings of the women that work with Frank.  The marines are looking worse and worse at every turn.  I believe the term used when a man decides to explain how everyone else feels and how no ones feelings are justified....its called "mansplainin"

Oh even better, he is saying that the show "cut and pasted" his words to make Frank look like a misogynist.  Amazing the lengths someone will go to to protect this sort of behavior.  Someone should also have a very serious discussion with Franks supervisor, but perhaps its better to see how institutionalized this sort of behavior against women is....even now.

What Frank said can't be chalked up to editing.  That one talking head alone was one quote, one shot taken at one time.  So the editing defense with him would be total BS.  We know this show can make people look worse than they are but this is not one of those cases and I'm sure that's completely obvious to anyone really looking at it closely.  I'm glad to see the Marines have responded.  Yikes, in those photos his face scares me.  His expression makes me think he has more problems than just being a misogynist.   It doesn't surprise me that there were so many comments under the first article almost defending the creep and the apologetic comments by Sgt. Kauten.  Misogyny is more rampant than I think people want to believe.  It's just gone underground in our PC era.  Frank is the tip of an iceberg and he's brought them out.  Very sad, but not something I haven't been on about myself.  This just goes to prove it.

I think it's lovely that the Gunnery Sergeant is a loyal man, but there is no appropriate context. At best, Frank is a fragile little soul whose wounded ego made him care more what his street buddies were going to think than what he owed to the Marines, including those five women.

I don't doubt that Frank's war on women is less effectual than he says it is. That's not the point. The point is is that he told America that his service is a place without honor where marines get pushed around by knuckledragging apes without consequences because they're women.

Frankly, if that doesn't seem inappropriate to the Gunnery Sergeant, someone really needs to talk to the women who answer to him.

Good point. I'm also pretty sure that the five women having the questionable pleasure of Frank's company in the kitchen couldn't complain without being painted as unfit for the marines or women ganging up on poor Frank if this is the reaction to filmed evidence of his douchebaggery.
