I forgot to add that Kasie Hunt was on the show. She interviewed workers at the Trump Taj Mahal who were on strike. Kasie said Trump doesn't own the hotel & has tried to have his name removed from the hotel. Kasie stayed at the hotel & gave it 1 star. The panel discussed the shady deals that Trump did with the AC hotels. I like Kasie. She has a sense of humour about the process. She doesn't take herself as seriously as Luke Russert.

Joe made fun of Disney for using the same Star of David for the movie Frozen. Joe wanted to know if the media would accuse Disney of anti semitic images.

If Disney were lifting said images from an anti-Semitic website, then it would be entirely appropriate to accuse them of that. Why did no one on the panel point out where Trump's image came from?

Quote

Joe tried to goad Harold Ford Jr into admitting that Hillary & her staff should not be given security briefings. Harold disagreed. He said that  Hillary should still get security briefings despite her reckless behavior. Paul Ryan doesn't want Hillary to get security briefings until the election.

Does no one remember that her husband is a former President? I believe they all still get security briefings if they choose to.

I do believe former presidents *do* get security updates, but that privilege does not extend to spouses or family.

I also continue to be astounded by the gall of Bill Kristol - who basically created Sarah Palin  by praising her excessively in the Weekly Standard - to appear on shows like this today and lament the demise of the party under Trump.

The Morning Joe panel is very selective in discussing certain issues. You are right that they didn't discuss the website that was used by the Trump campaign. I think Mika is desperate to get Trump back on the show. She loves everything he says no. "Trump connected" is her new buzzword.

I don't know if Bill Clinton still gets briefings.  Joe brags that he always got top secret briefings.

It's funny to see Halperin sitting behind Director Comey for the past few hours. He is sitting next to the guy who is also on Morning Joe. I think he worked for President Bush. I understand why Halperin was so hungry on Morning Joe today. You can't eat snacks during these hearings.

That Raw Story article, and Halperin's dumb comment quoted in it, reminded me how much I loathe smarmy hacks like Halperin, taking such smug delight in "the game" (or as his Showtime show was called, "The Circus") of politics. But then I take heart in the fact that his 2006 book "The Way to Win" proved to be completely wrong. Politics is a funny business in that abject failure isn't career limiting. Halperin, Nicole, Harold Ford, plagiarist Mike Barnicle....all seem to be doing pretty well for themselves here.

This morning's MJ was one of the worse I've seen. I've been watching the show since it started and although it's got its ups and downs, the first twenty minutes are usually some of the best, most-freewheeling discussions you can find on a news show.

But lately Joe has become intolerable. He obviously was setting the agenda for the show today and everyone just falls in line because after all it IS his show.

But listening to his strident tone and his obvious anti-progressive agenda be displayed so blatantly is disgusting. This morning he was surrounded by all of his usual conservative yes-peeps. The "progressive" was Harold Ford who tried to speak and got shut down. Thank god for Crazy Larry injecting some rationality into the conversation at the 7 oclock hour.

And Mika! What can you say about her? It seems obvious to me now that she indeed does have a relationship with Joe because she is so demure now with him and defers to him like a good girl. It's gross to watch.

Smirky Kristol is one of the worst pundits I have ever seen. He's so smug. Sarah Palin should have never been VP candidate. Cackles should have resigned from the campaign after she realized that Sarah was unfit for the job.

The sole commentary-providing news outlet claiming that Trump was anything than unhinged and non-Presidential last night is MJ.  The show today was bad.  Just bad.  I like how Harold and the guy next to him were uncomfortable and looking out of the corners of their eyes as they didn't know how to react to Mika's braying and Joe's ranting about Trump.
One thing about Joe, and it's interesting to watch, he gives Reverand Al a LOT of leeway.  A lot.  He plays it straight with the Rev and gives him space and respect.  It's the damndest thing.  I wonder if the Rev has once karate kicked Joe in the neck or shoved his face into a toilet or whispered something chilling into Joe's ear.  But Joe gives the Rev time and measured attention.  Nobody else gets that treatment.  Not anyone.  They're obviously not friends, ofc.  But Sharpton is like one of 4 or 5 of the right wing's main targets to prove X, Y, Z about liberals or black people or MSNBC or whatever.  Joe doesn't toe that line.

That aside, Joe's a dick.

Funny quote from today.  Joe:  "Didn't Don King kill a guy?"

Kristol is instantly loathable in a way that's startling.  BUT, this morning he was the voice of reason.  He's right about Trump.  Weird when Kristol is right.  I think he is going to vote for Hillary.  And be smug about it.  :P
Although he did engage in a prolonged fantasy about shenanigans at the RNC where delegates vote Trump out of the lead and give the nomination to some unknown Governor or someone.  Whew, that would be incredible.

Al Sharpton helped out Mika & Joe last year during the Ferguson Missouri riots. Mika or Joe made racially charged statements about a rap artist. Sharpton appeared on Morning Joe the next day to absolve them of charges of racism.

Joe cracked me up when he said that Don King would be a speaker at the convention.

Very sad day on Morning Joe given the news from Dallas. Al Sharpton & the Professor from Princeton is on the show. It's a pretty good discussion. Joe started bragging that he was right about Treyvon Martin & warned the GOP about supporting George Zimmerman. Joe apologized to the audience for reminding people when he is right about issues.

Sooo... wow, Rudy Giuliani is a racist asshole of the highest order.  PLEASE, producer of MJ, PLEASE get Rev Al and Rudy Giuliani on the set at the same time.  Maybe not Rev Al, maybe someone Rudy doesn't know who is ANGRY AF and has nothing to lose by unloading on him in a volcanic manner.  That's a long list.  Would make a great show.

Sigh.  I really, really wish that the media would stop conflating anarchists/agitators with the #BlackLivesMatter movement.  Almost every time it's really clear to see that the assholes covering their faces and wearing gas masks are white, they insert themselves into every single protest movement (no matter the cause) and make the peaceful protesters look bad.  I know we saw that here in 2008 during the RNC, we saw it in Ferguson and we're going to see it again next week at the RNC in Cleveland.  These are the people that drop rebar and concrete off of overpasses on the heads of the police.  The Minneapolis and St Paul #BlackLivesMatter movement is strong and I don't always agree with what they say or do (calling Gov Dayton a white supremacist or choosing to block airports or block interstates or blocking the entrance to concerts that people paid good money for) I think it's self-defeating sometimes; but I understand that they are exceedingly frustrated due to the Jamar Clark case, and now Philando Castile so they do some extreme things to draw attention to their cause.  That said, It should be made much more clear who the some people that LEO refer to, are.

Also, trying to frame tRump as any sort of "race healer" is completely laughable.  Just because tRump and Gingrich managed to say measured things last week doesn't change their history on the topic and how people of color along with a lot of folk will ever consider them.  People aren't going to forget that tRump is busy winking at white supremacists on Twitter or Gingrich's remarks about what poor black students needing to work as janitors in their schools to have free and reduced lunch benefits in 2012.  Their callousness has been on full display for much too long.  So, screw off Nicole Wallace, you can't change history.

Monday Recap: The show started off with photos of Barnicle's sons wedding in Nantucket. The guest list included, SOS John Kerry, Luke Russert, Mika & Joe & the annoying sidekick Lou B. Phil Griffin , President of MSNBC was there as well.

Al Sharpton & Prof Eddie Glaude were on the panel with Halperin & Harold Ford Jr. Eddie has trouble understanding twitter verification & got mad at responding to people with a few followers. Joe said he ignores all the hate on twitter. Joe said Obama gets in trouble from all sides on race relations issues. There was discussion of the black lives matter protests. Joe said its a complex issue. The officer in Minnesota was Hispanic & Asian. Mika was confused by the open carry laws. Al Sharpton said its ridiculous to blame Black Lives Matter for the police response.

Harold Ford was jealous of Al Sharpton getting weekly meetings at the White House. Al gets a free lunch as well.

The panel discussed Trump's VP picks. It could be Pence of Indiana or  a retired general who is pro choice or Chris Christie. Mika squealed at an Elizabeth Warren vs Chris Christie VP debate. Halperin said Pence is Trump's best pick

Joe was upset at the Hillary email issue. Mark McKinnon said it was OK for any lawyer to look at the classified data. Joe said that was against the law. Joe bragged that he got a lot of classified data when he was in Congress. He said the lawyers need security clearance.

Mika mocked Al Sharpton when he said that Hillary may pick a different AG than Lynch. Joe implied that Lynch was helpful to Hillary.

The show began with discussing a wedding of their friend's son on Nantucket attended by themselves, other bigshots at the network, and the secretary of state. It ended with a circle jerk with the Politico Playbook people, bragging how the "decision makers" both watch this show and read the Playbook.

And they wonder why people are so angry at politics and the system?

Very true. I think Joe loves being part of Washington elite. I am surprised that Mike Allen is leaving Politico. He used to be a regular part of Morning Joe.

Mika was giddy over a Trump VP pick because she thinks that's all he needs to propel him into the White House.

Yeah, just like VP Ryan did for President Romney.

Ryan had a minor impact on the Wisconsin vote. Obama's margin of victory dropped to 213K votes in 2012 vs 415K in 2008.

All of the "best and brightest" have left Politico.

I read that VanderHei & Allen are going to be working together on another venture.

I could have puked at the taped Jeb Bush interview when Cackles asked Bush what she should do wrt voting for Trump or Clinton.  Oh yes, tell me what to do, oh fearless leader. What a sycophant.

Couldn't disagree more with Robinson's position that Jeb needs to pick one of the two major candidates. Like anyone, he can vote for a minor party or no one at all. We haven't gotten so totalitarian yet that our choices are so limited.

That Cackles/Bush interview was entertaining.  It was odd.  She was like a goofy enthusiastic puppy walking with him, and he was this big, sullen, dummy who has apparently never thought about who he may vote for.  He's never thought about it.  How can that even be?  He was freaking caught off guard by her question.  He seems like a nice enough guy, but WOW is he so so so not Presidential.  100% chance he and his brother wrestle on the holidays because W teases him that he was POTUS and Jeb couldn't get the nomination.  "heh heh heh, dummy.  I was POTUS twice, and you couldn't even get the nomination!  heh heh heh." "Shut up, George!"  slap fight ensues.
Pains me to admit, but when she's smiling and enthusiastic and moving around on her feet, she seems less Cackly and is even... (don't judge me) ... endearing.  Almost cute.  [gasp]

Know who is a wild card?  That Katty Kay.  What's her story?  What's up with that eye makeup?  She's a cagey one.  I can't zero in on her deal.

I am so so naive when it comes to dermatological work that women (and men?) utilize try to look more youthful.  I am not above employing any method should it prove necessary, so I shan't judge.
Anybody think Joe has had work?  How smooth is Mika's forehead?  For the next 30 minutes or so, this will be all I will think about.

Wednesday Recap. Morning Poll edition. Joe is excited because the new polls show Trump ahead or tied in Ohio, Florida & Penn. Mika is off. Donnie Deutsch is upset  about the polls. He doesn't like Trump. Joe said Liberals didn't like Reagan or Bush . Joe bragged about his electoral victory in Florida. He campaigned against the Chamber of Commerce & won.!

Joe said Trump should follow his strategy.

Joe thinks Christie will be the best VP pick for Trump.

The panel agreed that Ruth Ginsburg shouldn't trash Trump publicly.

Mika has acknowledged having plastic surgery in one of her books.

I like how they all made fun of Bernie Sanders.  Incredibly, I found myself laughing with the crew on the set.  I feel like in Mika's absence the tone is a little more loose and friendly and collegial.  Also Joe isn't in a mood.  Cackles was particularly funny and particularly sympathetic for Hillary Clinton as she laughed at Bernie Sanders and his supporters.  Even Andrea Mitchell was funny.

That evil vampire Tom Cotton was interviewed and he's appalled that the Obama Administration's military strategy is to observe status changes in the Middle East and respond as the situation merits.  He said "we need to take stock of all the things we're not doing, but should be doing, and we should do them right now."  Which means... uh... I guess, look into the future and determine we need to invade Syria? or something?  Then he complained that not enough troops are in Afghanistan.
And all this is set against GOP nominee Donald Trump calling Hillary Clinton yesterday "pro-war."  I wish someone on the set asked Cotton if he's worried that Trump may insult him as being "pro-war."

Dear Pinhead Scarborough.  Drag your flat saggy ass to the archives and watch yourself all giddy over the polls for McCain over Obama in 2008.  And Romney over Obama in 2012.  Does the fact you keep repeating the same failed behavior over and over again make you insane?  Fucking Mika would suggest it so.

I had to laugh at the attempt to slide Christie back into the dialogue as the bestest ever as VP.  Yeah nothing will appeal to the slightly to the right moderates in the Midwest and South like a NY candidate with a NJ running mate and then trying to appeal to their distaste for East Coast elitism.  Which is probably why Drumpf it giving Pence every chance his can to lick his bloated Orange Creamsicle ass right now..
