Michael Cohen, Trump lawyer, threatened a Daily Beast journalist over an article. I assumed they were all referring to this guy, but maybe not. Details of the threats against the journalist from the lawyer are down toward the end of the story. How insane that there are an entire handful of possible suspected folks though.

Thanks for the correction, you are right. It is Michael Cohen!

Ha, I am actually eating a warm cookie while reading this thread and listening to the Nicolle Wallace show, which she labelled "Porn Friday."**  And is quoting extensively from the Morning Joe/lawyer interview.  Jennifer Rubin (WaPost writer) was giving a great critique of the MJ interview.

**Come on Nicolle, be fair, *every* day is Porn Day at this point.

I wonder what would have happened if Sarah Palin had been elected Vice President & Cackles Wallace was her Chief of Staff? Would Cackles have resigned from the job or would she have defended any scandals or gaffes that Palin would have made?

Friday Recap: Mika & Joe are in the studio together. Mika is wearing a lovely dark violet cardigan. with a navy blue top. Joe is wearing a suit.

Mika said that Trump is furious that Mueller is going after the Trump organization with subpoena's. He is crossing a red line & might get fired.

Donnie Deutsh said that Trump has been a shady businessmen who relied on dirty Russian money since 1992.

They showed clips of Mika's mom and her tree art show. Mika's mom does not watch Morning Joe & she doesn't like Donny.

Mika was happy that her mom put together a show after Dr Z died.

Mika's mom is an expert with chainsaws. If Joe steps out on Mika, the chainsaw could be used on Joe.

Donnie said you have to follow the money. Trump could not get loans from American banks & needed the Russians to help him.

OTT:

( The Toronto Trump Tower project shut down & needed Russian investors to buy it in order to keep the hotel running) Trump got a fee for managing the hotel & having his name on the hotel etc. ) The Russians went bankrupt too & now the Hotel will be a St Regis.)

David Ignatius thinks that Trump loves chaos with staff.

Donnie thinks that there are no photos with Trump wearing a sombrero & socks & no underwear. No sexy photos with Stormy.

Joe's new rant is that America needs a True Conservative who stood up to Trump & Obama. This will be the model to win in 2020.

Susan Depercio said that the GOP is scared of Trump. He might get primaried in 2020 , but the anti Trump GOP may not be 50% of the party.

Someone should analyze the 2016 GOP primary results to see how Trump won all the delegates in the state with 30% of the vote.

Mika said Joe wrote an important column in the Washington Post.

This is a good show today. I will see what happens when Stormy Daniels shows up.

Donnie said "Let's make America good again".

I would squeal with glee if Joe decides to run for public office again.

It sounds like Mika's mom feels she's "above" watching Morning Joe.  It makes Mika's snobbery when it comes to pop culture more understandable.

Mika's mom comes from the family that used to rule Czechoslovakia.

Mika's mom was also known for complaining that Mika's SAT scores were the lowest in the history of Williams College.

I think she finds Morning Joe to be low brow.

I do find it fascinating that Mika probably makes more money as a co host on Morning Joe than her two brothers who are well respected in their fields.

Clearly Scarborough envisions himself as that True Conservative.   Personally, I think he is conflating the higher ratings of his show this year with an endorsement of his conservative viewpoints.   Which would be a mistake.   I watch the show every morning but only for the anti-Trump viewpoint, not because I'm a less government/more guns believer.   Scarborough likes to present himself on the show as a principled centrist but make no mistake, he is is the same breed of asshole sitting in Congress right now.   If Scarborough were in office today he would be polishing Paul Ryan's shoes with his tongue.

Ha!. Joe did draft a clause in his divorce agreement from his second wife where she stated that he was faithful & a good father. If the divorce was so amicable, why was there a clause that stated that Joe couldn't visit Susan's part of the house that he & Susan lived in. It's very unusual. It's like a quasi restraining order.

I've always wondered about the reason for the "faithful" clause. Is that a common/usual thing? He's just an old country lawyer but surely that clause signifies something, but what? And he deemed it necessary, but why?

My first thought when I saw this picture was that Joe, Willie, and Heilman looked like ZZ Top in one of its '80s videos. In the video, the three guys lean back and look like they're saying "WHOA!" Alas, I had no luck finding the video. I was sure it was "Legs" (which would be appropriate, given the infamous Mika picture) or "Smart Dressed Man" (which could--maybe-- be a description of Joe, at least in his non-fleecy period) but I couldn't find it. Bummer.

Speaking of Heilman, he seems to be the current go-to guy on MSNBC. I see him from morning till late at night on the various shows. He's taken over for Bob Costa, who must be spending his days at the gym, because he's a mere shadow of his former self.

Not that I notice those things . . .

Whoa. Every angle of that is weird.

I was just over looking at Mika's Instagram barrage from her mother's art show last night, and Joe is getting dragged in the comments for being a jerk to her on air this morning.

I love people poking at Joe for his treatment of Meek-a.  But let's face it.  If she had any backbone, she would stop him in his tracks when it is happening.  All it would take would be a nice "I was talking"  or "please don't interrupt" or (I pray) "get over yourself"...  I can't think of many women who would sit there, day after day, and let themselves be interrupted and talked over.  And then give seminars on Know Your Value.  God, I can't stand her but I would truly miss her if she left. Well, maybe not.  I would love to see Joe have a co-host who is assertive.  But we would miss the snark about her on this board.  She gives us value.

Robert Costa could be my child but I would love to run my fingers through his hair (without the product on it).  It waves nicely.

I think Joe wanted to pre empt any rumours that he was leaving his wife for Mika. I suspect that he was being unfaithful to Susan in 2012. Mika & Joe were traveling everywhere together during the entire 2012 campaign. Mika separated from Jim in December 2015. I will say that once Mika & Joe started living together, Joe started dressing professionally. No more cereal stained  fleece on the set.

Joe's intolerence for people that disagree with him has increased in the past few years. I am still stunned that he removed his music from Itunes. I had downloaded his songs but they are gone. Is he that thin skinned that  he won't tolerate criticism of his music?

The show rarely has guests who support Trump or are strong pro choice. Joe is comfortable having his lackeys on the panel because they don't challenge his positions on issues.

Here is a link to the divorce agreement. Joe had no access to Susan's part of the house after 7 pm. Joe's bunker wasn't built back then.

I watch all 3 US cable networks. Joe Scarborough is regularly called out on Fox News for changing his opinions since he left Congress. Joe used to disagree with some Democrat officials during the Obama administration era yet remained very cordial with Valery Jarrett & others. Joe used to get interviews with the press secretaries on a  regular basis. It was an interesting show. Joe seems to be personally offended at being shut out of having access to anyone in the Trump administration so he goes on these self serving rants about Trump. It's surprising because Joe was way too close to Trump during the campaign.

I do think the ratings will fall when Trump leaves office. I can't see Pence or any Democratic President creating as much daily havoc that will allow Ranty Joe to get upset about as Trump.

I suspect Joe will be very upset that McCabe was fired by Jeff Sessions after the recommendation of the Office of Professional Conduct.

I hope Joe's motivation isn't his relationship with the WH.  I like to think that he is truly offended by trump's behavior and wants to see the republicans stand up to the poser that kidnapped the party,

It would do a world of good to update the panel.  They skate through the show.  It would be good if Joe was on set everyday.  I can't think of a situation where the show's host and namesake was basically a no show.  He's like Max Headroom.

I'm glad FOX doesn't like Joe.  I don't like FOX and they will dig up all kinds of non news stories to report on while MSNBC  and CNN have on what is politically happening at the moment.

ZZ Top, Max Headroom, what is it 80s day on the Morning Joe thread? I think the ZZ Top video was Sharp Dressed Man? I do remember that playing on MTV. I am curious to see what the discussion will be on Monday about the brutal firing of the FBI Guy 2 days before his retirement. I would like to find out more about that whether it was justified or whether what the guy said in a statement is all true

Joe was very excited during the election transition between Obama & Trump. Joe recommended Harold Ford Jr & Richard Haas for Trump's cabinet. Joe bragged about his friendship with Jared & Ivanka. Mika was able to introduce her friend Dinah Powell to Ivanka. She ended up working for Trump. Joe felt he had a shot at using his friendship with Trump to help shape his cabinet.  Trump invite Mika & Joe to lunch in the White House 1 week after he took office & Joe complained about Stephen Miller & Spicer making up crowd numbers. Trump got mad at him for picking on Miller.

I think Joe would jump at the chance to help Trump after the mid term elections. Joe can tell his friends that he is putting country over party.

Joe should realize that the old "Bush-Reagan" brand of the GOP is a minority in the party.

Don't forget that Pat Buchanan was a regular Morning Joe panelist up until February 2012. Buchanan's policies were supported by Joe. Mika & Joe were mad that MSNBC fired him. Buchanan's views  are very similar to Trump when it comes to policies on on trade & immigration.

Joe will probably have a TelePrompter Rant scheduled for Monday at 6 am. Joe will blame Trump for firing McCabe, but the recommendation for his termination came from the FBI's internal affairs department. Apparently, McCabe leaked information to the media that he was not allowed to do.

Sessions had the authority to let him retire peacefully but I suspect that he wanted to please Trump by getting rid of him.

McCabe will probably appeal his firing , so he will have to defend himself in court. He kept notes of his meetings with Trump, so that will be interesting.

I predict that Mika will be pouting & making faces at the camera on Monday , if she shows up, because she wants to focus on her scoop about Stormy Daniels being threatened by one of Trump's goons.

I hope this is the new Joe and that he wants to distance himself from trump like he shows.

There is an inspector general's report that will be released within the next month that will have info on McCabe's supposed infractions that lead to his firing. It better damn well be solid because the 10 pm news when I turned on Lawrence O'Donnell sent a shiver down my spine.

I want Joe to rant over this. President's shouldn't go to war with the institutions that we look to for security and protection.

Maybe Stormy will take trump down. She evidently has enough on trump for him to counter sue for $20 million.

I was watching a bit of Laura Ingraham last night. The panel had Mr.Dershowitz on . It looks like McCabe violated internal procedures by leaking confidential information to the media. He said the FBI rarely recommends firing their own personnel , so the IG report must be very damning against McCabe for them to recommend termination.

The Stormy Daniels issue is interesting.

MSNBC's Donny Deutsch wrote in his 2005 book that he constantly flirted with and fantasized about his female colleagues, with thoughts like, "Why haven't I fucked that girl?"

No one knew if he's still with Marla. He has a radio show about love, relationships and sex. I was floored anyone decided to give him a platform for that. He has an interview with Joe. I enjoyed Mika's run right up until the part where she was flanked by two assistants who look like they just stepped out of a naughty-secretary porn fantasy.  What message does that send to women, Meeks?

Monday Recap. Mika is in Washington by herself. Joe is off. The studio looks dark & Stormy:) KCDC got her lightning intro. It's embarrassing.

Mika said she DVR's her show. Ha!. I doubt Mika watches it.

Mika is hyped up & reading the news in her fast paced voice. She said that Trump fired McCabe which is not true. It was Sessions based on the OPR office.

Mika said McCabe's termination is illegimate.

Other networks are waiting to read the IG report before coming to that conclusion.

This is going to be one of the shows where Mika "takes charge" and bulldozes over all the guests. It's good for comic relief.

Trump is mad at Muller. Ignatius is worried that Muller will be fired.

Mika is wearing a nice yellow scarf with a black top.

KC is on the panel.

No discussion yet as to what exactly McCabe did to justify him being fired.

Mika needs Decaf coffee.

Trump's tweets are out of control. This has never happened before.

I'm enjoying caffiened-up, bossy, pushy, bulldozer Mika.  It's not random or boorish.  She's previewing what they plan on talking about in future segments, which I find useful.  And she calls on someone, they get to speak until they're finished, then she calls on the next person.  It's actually easy to watch/listen to and kind of informative.

I especially liked when John Heileman told everyone he was confused about Trump being either scared in a corner or puffed up and feeling more confident in his ability to be president than ever before and aren't those mutually exclusive and that Matt Miller was saying one thing and Maggie Haberman was saying the other and help me, please.

Dear God, please get Mika to stop reading and reading and reading.  She was reading stuff, verbatim.  For what seemed like an eternity.  It is early (for me) and I can't remember what she was reading...I think there were several tweets and then she read...verbatim again...a long statement from one of Trump's lawyers that was printed in ... maybe The Daily Beast?  Please, please stop talking.  Can't she just give us a summary?

She is dong a good job of keeping the discussion moving...and is letting other people talk, way much more than Joe does.  We are getting a really well-rounded, easy flowing discussion.  She isn't interrupting.  But she is so coyly smug (is that an oxymoron) over her scoop on the threats against our poor Stormy.  For me, a little bit of David Ignatius goes a long way; and sometimes I think Barnicle is half asleep.

Hire back a lot of seasoned professionals easily? Get a bunch of deputy and undersecretaries appointed and confirmed easily? And what makes you think that Pompeo isn't even *more* on Trump's wavelength regarding the uselessness of the professionals at State than Tillerson was? Pompeo's not a diplomat. He's a politician and an ideologue and, according to Trump, they are much more sympatico.

Someone tweeted at Kasie last week "Do you all take gullible pills every day?"  It really is time for guests on this show, Joe, Mika to some extent,  and in fact everyone in the media to stop giving anyone in this Administration the benefit of the doubt.  It's reminiscent of when they were all tap dancing trying to figure out what Nunes was doing the first time when he was making the midnight runs to the WH like that was totally normal behavior of a member of Congress.  Or acting like John Kelly was the second coming of Christ, which blew up the minute he showed his racist tendencies with the Congresswoman in FL. That took what, one month into his tenure?

Stop normalizing this WH. You're the ones doing it. Not just Fox or One America. Morning Joe is as complicit if not moreso, because no one expected an MSNBC show to kiss Trump's ass the way they did.  They all fall all over themselves to try to be sympathetic to people like Tillerson .  The man got the highest honor Russia could bestow on a person. He was hand picked by the Kremlin. He's out only because he must have had some come to Jesus moment and realized what a murderous thug Putin is.

People would have so much more respect if Joe Scarborough would just say, "you know what, we fucked up".
