I remember being super bothered by how nasty Whoopi was being to Paula a while back.  It was clear Whoopi couldn't stand her ("bitch listen!").  Now I am wondering if maybe some of the other hosts don't care for Paula either.  It does seem like sometimes Joy and Michelle in particular kind of give her the brush off just a little.  They seem to have little patience with her and her desperate attempts to funny and cool.   Paula is neither of those things, and she needs to stop trying to be.

And if she doesn't stop bragging about her *awesome* marriage and super hot sex life, I'm gonna hurl.  Please.  People who are really that happy don't need to brag about it.  And we all know when you talk that much about how much red hot sex you're gettin' you aren't really gettin' that much.

I don't see that at all. Joy, Michelle and of course Candace get along with Paula. Sunny calls her a good friend. When Whoopi isn't around Raven gets along with Paula. Joy even gave her a funny Valentine today.

Oh, I am glad you mentioned that.  I didn't get the warm and fuzzies from Joy's Valentine to Paula at all.  It may have seemed to be an attempt at humor on its face, but I sensed a little undercurrent of droll mockery.

I don't think Joy buys Paula's schtick about her hot sex life at all.  And I know her 1950's mentality about marriage must give Joy a serious case of the eyerolls.   Joy is not there for Paula's oversexed yet priggish, goody-two-shoes act, and neither am I.

I love how prudish the current panel always is.  Just like the pornography hand wringing a couple weeks ago that traumatized Candace for life, only Michelle was into seeing peen in movies.  Paula was a sports reporter in the lockerroom, why does a penis still make her uncomfortable?  Get over it.  They didn't mention a strap on is also used on Ryan Reynolds in his new movie, their heads would explode.

Unpopular Opinion time--I like Michelle.  I like that she brings a completely different sensibility to the show.  Sometimes she tries too hard, but I found her pretty good in the nudity in film etc discussion.

I personally don't mind male or female nudity but I definitely am happy to see more male nudity.  And I think this was also partially her point.

Okay I watched the Paula part about having to guard your heart...that whole conversation and her position about not going to lunch with a male (and Michelle called her out on that today too!) because it is a slippery slope and things can happen (!?), that sounded exactly like Bitsy.  I would be very nervous if I was Mr. Paula.

And finally, the show is just so much lighter and pleasant when Miss Whoopi is absent.

He's on the receiving end!

But wouldn't that mean the other person has the strap on? Sorry I am dense today.  Maybe I am over thinking it :)

Random jump... I liked Joy's Valentine to Paula. It was snarky imo

GHScorpiosRule, I enjoyed your post! I especially liked the part where sweet little Candace is so concerned about Democrats adding to the deficit. How come we never hear a concern about the deficit when her party rallies around expanding our military spending and embarking on more wars? How about the cost of rounding up all of the illegal immigrants and shipping them out? How about building a huge wall covering the Mexican border, even though Trump believes Mexico will generously pay for it? Yet, when liberals propose a program that will help the poor or middle class, they are blowing up the deficit? I don't believe free college is attainable, but working to make it more affordable is an admirable cause. (Of course it wouldn't enrich the military industrial complex, so conservatives hate the idea.)

Colbert had an awesome question for Bill OReilly the other night, wondering why not spend money on education, children, and jobs for lower class, instead of bombs and military vehicles/armaments. OReilly called it a liberal stance, whereas Colbert said it is just a question, why do we have to take sides? Sounds like CCB and Paula. I get so tired of the bipartisanship. Does ABC reality need Paula spoutting the party line? For this factor alone, and of course Whoopi, (so not so much alone), and CCBs religious goody-two-shoes, Michelle's unfunny jokes, I mute the sound and/or actually look away from the screen. Why can't Joy have her own fucking view show again! ARGGGHHH!

Yes, I would like it so much more if it was more on the lines of right and wrong. Instead of an you're with us or against us mentality. Like neither side can admit when the party they oppose does a good thing. Of course, I can't come up with an example of the last good thing the Republican Party has done. And I'm only mentioning this because of what Paula and Candace refuse to do, and what Bitsy did all the fucking time. Like instead of bringing up the Wall Street stuff, a better question would have been to ask why do the Democratic debates have so much more substance as opposed to the Republican debates? Or more questions about what Bernie would and could realistically accomplish if he were to be elected?

But no. Can't have interesting stuff because... Ummm...I got nothin'.

So Candace got rid of the pageant hair [for today anyway] and yet still got my nerves big time.   Maybe it's her smug attitude, maybe it's that stupid Full House show [sorry Millennials, I guess it was a childhood favorite but I don't get it]  or maybe it's her tiresome single focus on her faith so that  every single sentence out of her mouth is one note.  Every word.     I mean seriously, on the topic of the most popular songs to make love to, she said she puts on "CNN or Fox so my kids don't know what I'm doing."   And I don't think she was kidding.

All of it is annoying but mostly I think I hate that she's taking up a chair at the table during an election year when it couldn't be more obvious she really never thought about politics before this job.      And apparently the director hates me too because what the hell was the cut to a CCB closeup when Sawyer said something about God and forgiveness?  Way to ruin an interesting interview Show.

I thought Paula did a very good job with Diane today. They are colleagues at ABC News and I thought it was a natural fit for Paula to interview Diane.

I agree Paula did a good job with Diane today, although it felt a bit awkward that Joy was just sitting there listening.  But that shouldn't take away from Paula's interview which I thought was good.  Well, until the cutaway closeup of smug CCB but that wasn't on Paula.

Six minutes on The Bachelor?  20 seasons and I'm proud to say I've never seen a single episode.  Not because I have high viewing standards [clearly, I do not LOL] but for the sole reason that The Spew luuuuvs to pimp it.  Even so, just listening to Chris Hansen talk about it makes him seem slimy to me and not in an entertaining way.

I liked it too and I think Paula liked it.  I think she likes being the  "horny Christian" at the table, which is far more preferable to me than when Sherri tried to do it.   But I agree with whoever noted that Paula's "Guard Your Heart/ Protect Your Marriage Against Evil" thing sounded a lot like stuff Bitsy used to say about marriage and cheating.  I remember once Bitsy said she thought cheaters should lose their kids and Babs and Joy had to explain to her than a man could be a lousy husband and still be a good parent.  Good times.   Anway,  I guess I don't mind Paula because she seems authentic, I think her personal stories are real unlike the Born Again Barbie sitting across from her who contributes almost nothing and gets offended by almost everything which to makes her completely wrong for a talk show co-host.     Does that make sense?

My bold.  I^^ I totally agree with your post!! **  Absolutely!!!  I wanted to slap her smug little face because her ignorance of what's going on in the world knows no bounds.  For Gawd's sake you stupid Producers/Directors, what is wrong with you?  I think Paula is genuine & tries to make a worthwhile contribution, but she seems so nervous that she's going to get blowback anything she says is fractured & nonsensical.  Just sayin'.

I like Paula well enough, she's good at what she does and what she was hired to do. Then comes The Spew where she gets to divulge her personal life. Nothing wrong with that - until she continuously defends bullshit rhetoric and outright lies. I think most of us expected that from CCB, but for the two of them to tag-team on the lunacy is hard to stomach. I imagine FOX is drooling over the duo and planning a coup to get them to jump the ABC train and go to the dark side.

I don't know which is worse: listening to the double-dose of delicious dolls declaring decency while dwelling in disillusion OR Miss Whoopi glaring, pointing, spittle flying as she screams that we know nothing about anything. But on the bright side - for now - we get both. And that's truly snarkable.

God is good.

But, but, but, you forgot that Bitsy also said that a cheating man deserved to lose public office!!!  lolz.

The interview with Diane compelled me to DVR 20/20 last night, I haven't watched it yet though.  I can't imagine being that mother... :(

Allow me to preface this with the fact that I'm old and remember how women were treated generally when I was a child and through my teens into adulthood.  I feel like this election is creating a cleave between 2nd and 3rd wave feminism.  And the fault line is right at the difference of support between Sanders and Clinton.  I think there are a lot GenY and Millennials that may read history for understanding but cannot have a real knowing of what it meant not to be able to have a checking account, auto loan or credit card, let alone be treated with full respect and equality in the work place.  Living that, is where Madeleine Albright's (who became a divorced single mother) quote comes from.  It feels like many 3rd wave feminists don't fully comprehend what those who went before them were up against.

I totally believe you are speaking the truth here.   I don't think they have a clue about women not being able to own property or having to have their husband's permission to have a hysterectomy.

I helped my grandmother establish credit in her name.

Yeah, Candace & Paula get the best of both worlds as long as their leaders permit them to work - at non-traditional female jobs.  They have no effin' clue.

Me too, and I watched it.  I think the book would be better to read because they just touched on a lot of stuff and didn't really get to the heart of it.  Yes, the mom is truly suffering, it is horrible.

This is true, CattyTiger. Remember the group PromiseKeepers? They would fill stadiums with Godly, righteous men who would pound their chests and would expound upon how to be the leader in their family and be responsible for being the alpha male who would show them all the right way? They are still around, but probably not as popular, thank goodness. I'll bet the husbands of Candace and Paula belong to that group. (I have nothing against religious men, but when they use their religion to suppress women, that's bull****.)

So much to agree with here.   Paula, CCB, and women in their generation and younger need to have conversations with their mothers, aunts, grandmothers, about how recently "equality"  has occurred in their lives.   Like - when women were granted the right to VOTE, it was seen as married men having TWO votes (because they told their wives how to vote).  And how a man and woman with identical degrees from the same university could apply for jobs at the same company, and the woman could be hired as the man's secretary, at half his salary - and she would feel lucky to have the job!  Women having credit cards in their own name could be asked for additional identification, because their credit was considered doubtful.   A married woman would have a credit card in her husband's name, and that was assurance that HE would pay the bill.  And "domestic violence"  was considered a joke, because men had the right to slap around their wives if they stepped out of line.  Magazine and television ads featured images of acceptable violence toward women was.

I was at a meeting once where a decision was being made as to which candidate  at a graduate school would receive funding.  A female candidate was considered less in need of financial help BECAUSE SHE HAD A HUSBAND, and a male candidate was considered more in need BECAUSE HE HAD A WIFE TO SUPPORT.  Another woman at the meeting said "so, a husband is a financial asset, but a wife is a liability?"   and the men at the table missed her sarcasm, because, yeah, isn't that obvious?

IT wasn't a hundred years ago that women were considered unequal in every way.   It drives me crazy when this sort of thinking is still given a platform.

I kind of felt sorry for Michelle on Friday because I thought she gave good reasons for her belief in nudity. The US has always been more puritanical then Europe in regards to sex and nudity.

You could tell she was frustrated by the steppers wives on the panel and even Joy was not backing her up.

Lastly, I thought marriage was a partnership? However, the point of feminism is choosing how one wants to live their life. If paula and ccb opt for a 'leader' then that's their choice but don't force others to want that..and vice versa.

Lastly, hook up songs? Only ccb would say CNN and Fox would be her choice of hook up sounds lol

I agree about us being too stuffy about nudity and sex in the US, and I was totally in Michelle's court. Joy had already said she didn't like male nudity beforehand and she rarely backtracks. As much I like Joy she is showing some ego by not being more open to Michelle. That I blame on TPTB who hired Michelle before they finally got Joy to sign back on. Joy has always relished her role as the "funny one" on the show.

Comments like these are why I continued to read this forum even when I wasn't watching the show at the end of last season. "Spittle flying," lmao.

Yes, I was very disappointed Joy didn't come to Michelle's aid there. I couldn't believe how prudish and insecure the whole panel was about it. Michelle said something to Paula, "We know. We know." Paula must've said something in response to her to make sense of that reply from Michelle, but I didn't hear it. I noticed the audience gasped like Michelle had delivered a low blow or something. I'm guessing Paula tried to bring up her very active sex life to show, no, she's not a prude just because she wants everyone to be completely covered at all times in her movies!1!! No bare piano legs for Paula, it might make her uncomfortable.

I didn't have an issue with Joy not agreeing with Michelle regarding wanting to see more male frontal nudity, nor did I hold it against her because she didn't support her. I mean, I know we all harp on the other hosts's views (but I've explained why I harp), but I take into consideration, Joy's life experience and what she is comfortable with, or wants to see, or not see. She's very progressive, for the lack of a better word, in many ways, but again, her opinions are based on her own life's experiences. Does that make sense? She didn't say she'd be traumatized if she were to see it, like others *cough*Paula*cough*, who is considerably younger, but she doesn't want to. And I think she said it was because she thinks penises are fugly.  Which, okay, she's entitled. You know?

I agree. One of the best things about Joy is that she's honest when she gives opinions.  She says what she really feels, and IMO she always comes across as genuine. That's one of the things I like about her.

Plus, joy was moderator that day so she wasn't really siding with the steppers wives nor with Michelle too much.

I do think perhaps Sara should have sat in instead of sunny to give the panel a little more balance. 3 christians at the table wasn't needed..and i think sara might have added her own perspeptide given that she's from the midwest, is pregnant, and I don't think believes her husband is her leader.

Why did Ryan Reynolds get done by a strap on, is he gay in the movie? I am just curious...
