tessaray August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I was kind of disappointed when I finally watched today's episode. From comments here, I was hoping Wyatt suspected Quinn. I'm trying to remember - does Deacon know she pushed Ivy off the bridge? Or even know she went to Paris? (I delete the episodes off the dvr once I watch them - maybe I should keep them until I figure out what's going on.) Not sure if it's okay to ask this but if it is, I was wondering what you all would say the top 5 or so iconic storylines for B&B are (that are relevant to a newer viewer) and if there are any links to clips on Youtube or other sites? sugarbaker design August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I don't know if I have five but... 1. The Battle for BeLieF - By far B&B's best storyline, corporate intrigue, betrayal, deception and Stephanie being literally carried out of the office. Doesn't get better. 2. Taylor in Middle Eastistan - It's not going to sound good on paper, but Taylor was presumed dead in a plane crash, she was actually nursed back to health and held captive by Prince Omar. Sounds crazy and hokey but somehow it worked. This is Hunter Tylo at her most gorgeous. This storyline went on for years. 3. Storm's Heart - My favorite B&B storyline of this century. All 4 Logan kids were back in LA for the first time in many years. Awesome performances by all the Logans. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-328450
RuntheTable August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 (edited) Try as I might, I find myself unable to invest in the W/H/L triangle, there is nothing about it that is compelling; the entire SL is full of bullet holes and plot contrivance. For this viewer the burning question has always been; why do any of these three have to get married? The story is written as if there are no other options for these three young and successful twenty somethings. The only thing I can say with conviction is that of the three, the only one who has not wavered in what they want is Wyatt. Regardless of crazy moms, magical diamonds, and Liam’s Cheerleaders; from the moment he and Hope met, Wyatt has had a single minded purpose of getting the girl. And what is wrong with that? Liam and Hope were not married, and if I remember correctly, were in the middle of some calamity at the time. When Wyatt continued to come calling, Hope was always receptive in her paper doll way, which means she stood there, staring and smiling. And I think that is what is at the heart of my ambivalence; Hope is a beautiful girl, but she has no sex appeal, no charisma. As the common denominator in this war of weddings, I would expect Hope to reek with it; just like her mother always has. In reality, Hope comes off as a starry eyed teenager, longing for her first love; much like Katie did when she was a teenager. What is it about this girl that makes her so desirable? She has no visible talents, and does not contribute to FC’s outside of her face, her line and her “message”, which are all interchangeable with any pretty young face. In contrast, if you look at her mother during her years of being the “it” girl, you could easily fill a novella extolling her attributes, and what made her so special. I refuse to split hairs over he did that and she did what! All of these players have behaved badly at one time or another, and it is a pretty sad situation when you use a scorecard of dastardly deeds to choose who you are going to marry. My first option would have been to see them all stay single, but I think marrying Wyatt will serve to grow Hope up a little. And they at least seem like a couple rather than a brother and sister. And with Wyatt, Hope gets a guy that is 110% committed to her, and doesn’t come with all the baggage that Liam carries. You would think spending her whole life watching her mother get kicked around by Ridge would be enough to warn her off wafflers, and men who cannot commit themselves to one woman. Even with Steffy out of the picture; the only reason there has been no recent waffling; Liam has still managed to raise her specter over Hope’s head. Just let this shit ride itself out now. Let Hope and Wyatt try on their new married clothes, and let Liam and whoever move forward. KerleyQ August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I watched the show on the website, with difficulty. It was pre-empted in Chicagoland because of a parade for a little league team, except for the last five minutes. Well you just satisfied my idle curiosity. DirecTV lost all the local network feeds yesterday, and I wondered if it was the parade or B&B that I didn't see during the 12:30-1:00 period. from the moment he and Hope met, Wyatt has had a single minded purpose of getting the girl. And what is wrong with that? Liam and Hope were not married, and if I remember correctly, were in the middle of some calamity at the time. If I remember my Liam/Hope mishaps correctly, This was when Steffy had left town after finding out she (probably) couldn't have more kids, so Liam, naturally, waffled back over to Hope, who went to the cabin by herself to think things over, where she came across naked Wyatt while hiking. You would think spending her whole life watching her mother get kicked around by Ridge would be enough to warn her off wafflers, and men who cannot commit themselves to one woman This. I'm a relatively new viewer, and even I know the extent of Ridge's epic waffling, just from headlines in the soap mags. Hope's had a ringside seat, you'd think she'd want better for herself. I'd love to see her have some dawning realization that, if she went back to Liam, she could end up down the road like her mother - Ridge is be-ribboned to Katie, but he still insists on trying to control Brooke's love life. And it takes zero imagination to foresee Liam being the same way 20 some years down the road. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-328991
MulletorHater August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 Have the writers considered the possibility that people are sick and tired of ALL THREE of these losers and want them on the backburner so that we can enjoy the adults for a change? Have they considered the possibility that people are freaking exhausted by the annual trips to the altar for a girl who hasn't seen her 30th birthday yet? How many wedding mishaps has this been for Hope now? It's interesting that both Wynutt and Lame are actually quite enjoyable when they are away from Hope. I'm also exasperated that the very talented Rena Sofer is being used to play Maleficent in the kiddie pool and I am exhausted by her cartoonish antics also. Other than the fact that Wynutt wants Hope, I've yet to understand why Quinnsane has been so hellbent on making it happen. All that shrieking she did to Bill about how he HAD to help her keep Wynutt and Hope together nearly made my hair stand on end. I had to really think about that for a second. She tells Brooke's maid (who needs to be fired) that she's there to visit, heads upstairs to the bedroom and shrilly bombards Bill with demands. Anytime Bill (whose own history with obsessive, controlling and crazy behavior is well documented) has to give Quinnsane the side eye then something is wrong. I can't speak for anyone else, but I have no dog in this fight and don't favor one guy over the other. They're both clowns, and not funny ones either. I'm just sick of them and marvel that when Hope suggested dating both of them at the same time that neither of these guys had enough pride to give each other a fist bump, laugh in Hope's face and walk away without a backwards glance. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329006
thewhiteowl August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I agree with most of your post RuntheTable. I like Liam much better away from Hope and I think she chose the right guy for right now. Wyatt hasn't wavered, I'll give him that but it seemed more like an obsessive competition with his brother there at the end than any great love for Hope IMO. The only part I didn't agree with is that I've never seen any charisma with Brooke but I realize many do. I am usually baffled by why she's so sought after, she's just an older Hope to me but that's soaps for you. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329012
tessaray August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 2. Taylor in Middle Eastistan - It's not going to sound good on paper, but Taylor was presumed dead in a plane crash, she was actually nursed back to health and held captive by Prince Omar. I know who Hunter Tylo is (sort of) from reading headlines - is she still on the show? Back in ancient times, if you wanted to watch a new soap, you found a friend or a relative who watched and pestered them with questions. I hope I'm not annoying anyone with questions that I could look up in Wikipedia but for some reason I like the unfolding and getting to know these characters. I think reading all the backstory would kind of ruin the experience I'm having. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329116
tessaray August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I wish the writers would just quit playing and stop insulting the audience's intelligence. How about actually having the character abandon all pretenses and admitting that this is what he had in mind all along? Or, did they really think that viewers bought that hoo-ha about Deacon wanting to prove he had "changed for Hope's sake." Do I want to know what happened to Amber and Little 'D'? I was watching Y&R off and on when she left GC to go back to LA. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329154
blackwing August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 (edited) Hunter Tylo is no longer on the show. She played Taylor Hayes and for many years was generally the second choice in the Ridge waffling sweepstakes between Brooke and Taylor. She is the mother of Thomas (not currently on the show), Steffy (of the Liam/Steffy/Hope waffling, also not currently on the show), and the dead Phoebe (of "What the hell's going on here, you already took Phoebe away from me! Now you're taking Steffy?! It's not gonna happen, Rick! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!) fame. (Memo to Ridge, since he seems to have lost his memory.... it happened.) She used to be really beautiful and then she got plastic surgery and jacked her face. Hunter Tylo claims it was her decision to leave the show, but I think what happened is that they took her off contract and offered her a recurring role (essentially a firing), so she "quit". They had hired The Great Heather Tom and I think they found Taylor to be extraneous. They no longer had a need for Taylor to be the third wheel in the Great Love Story of Ridge and Brooke because they now had Katie. Around the same time, the actress who played Steffy decided to take a break (hence Steffy finding out she was barren and fleeing to Paris). The actor who played Thomas had seemingly been fired again. So Taylor no longer had any real ties to anyone. She was perhaps Stephanie's closest friend, and once Steph died and all of her children left town, I guess they couldn't figure out what to do with her anymore. As for Amber and Little D. Little D was the son of Deacon and Amber's cousin Becky. Becky was dying or dead and gave him to Amber to raise as her own. Amber and Rick raised him as Little Eric, until Deacon came in and said he wanted him back. Amber freaked out, fled with the child, and I believe she jumped off a cliff with him, but was saved. Her mental instability caused Rick to dump her. Deacon took the child. Then Deacon went to prison. Little D went to live with Becky's family. And Deacon has never thought about him again. (I think that's briefly how it went, someone correct me if I made any errors.) kia112 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 That Bob Barker thing was embarassing. Like...SO embarassing. For everyone involved. Paparazzi? When did they start caring about the Forresters? Does Jacob Young even get followed by the paparazzi? This story with Maya would have made so much more sense A YEAR AGO when she and Rick were still together/had just broken up. And when she wasn't a gold digger. The color (and cut) of the dress was very flattering on Karla Mosley. Why was Carter wearing a suit with a sweater vest in the summer in LA? 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329222

blackwing August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I've always liked Amber. Back in her younger days (when Rick was Jacob Young's first run and then Justin Torkildsen) they treated her as a classic young soap heroine. She had some really good stories. I always wondered what became of her twin, April Knight, who was in a porno and everyone thought it was Amber and that she had shamed the Forrester family. Later wondered if there was some connection between April and Owen Knight. Then they made her a little crazy and had her leave town. She was completely wasted on Y&R. Y&R treated her as the comic relief. They also made her into this poor struggling designer just hoping to get noticed. She was married to a Forrester. She should have had plenty of money from the divorce settlement and she should have had plenty of connections that would have made her career. Really odd. When she came back on B&B for a bit they acted like she and Rick barely even knew each other. The two of them hardly interacted, which was ridiculously odd, but then again, on this show, that happens a lot with exes. Oliver hardly ever talks to Hope. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329272

Has she even seen her 21st birthday yet? I thought Hope was barely out of high school when the whole "Hope for the Future" thing started but am unsure since I've only been watching B&B solidly for a few years. Hope's had a ringside seat, you'd think she'd want better for herself. On the other hand, maybe that's the only way she knows how to be in a relationship because that's all she saw--up close anyway--when she was growing up. I'm just sick of them and marvel that when Hope suggested dating both of them at the same time that neither of these guys had enough pride to give each other a fist bump, laugh in Hope's face and walk away without a backwards glance. I don't get it either. Why is Hope considered such a prize? She's uneducated, still lives with her mommy, and has never held a real job other than the one that was created for her at FC. And if she really is supposed to be all that, why aren't more guys besides the two Spencer brothers coming at her? It baffles me that she considers those two her only options when she's in friggin' LA, the central location of beautiful California boys. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329366

I think there may be a small element of that now, but he was also really into Hope before he found out he was Liam's brother. I also think that, in some weird way, Wyatt thinks he can "have it all" - that he'll remain happily married to Hope, and he'll also be "one big happy family" with Bill and Liam. kia112 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 That's true, but as many people keep brining up, we have no idea why he's so in love with Hope. She saw him showering in the woods, took a picture of him naked, he chased her, she knocked herself unconscious, he kissed her while she was knocked out, stalked her to bring her back her phone, she invited him to that 4th of July party (not as her date -- Liam was her date, he was just super late, getting resolution on the end of his marriage like she told him to) and then a few days (or maybe a week) later, Liam threw a ring in a fountain for Hope to find, and they were engaged. There was zero time for either of them to form this deep bond that neither of them could shake -- that was done during the course Hope and Liam's engagement. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329822
KerleyQ August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I think Wyatt falling in love with Hope was just another take on Steffy falling in love with Liam. Steffy fell for Liam after he saved her from drowning in the bath tub, right? Well Wyatt fell for Hope after kissing her back to consciousness when she fell and knocked herself out. I don't think it gets much deeper than that on this show. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-329854
Gudzilla August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 (edited) Hope is a beautiful girl, but she has no sex appeal, no charisma. This is the main problem with her for me, that and the constant propping of the character. I just can't see Hope as the future of the show. I already like Aly and Ivy better than the princess. Even new ditzy Maya has entertained me more. When does Lindsay Godfrey return ? Carter has just promoted himself to smartest guy on the show with his 'move on from a mess like that' comment. I've got to say I enjoyed Darrin Brooks reactions during the whole Bob Barker thing, especially his reaction to the first punch. TK's schedule is killing every storyline he's involved with, they need to do something about it. blackwing August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 Thorne and Taylor decided to stay in L.A., right? During the "Aly forgives Taylor" story, I thought Taylor was going leave town and go back to Paris, but Aly said she wanted her dad to be happy. So presumably, Thorne and Taylor are still in town, but just offscreen? As seems to happen with many characters? If Bradley has been content to largely shove Thorne "in town but offscreen", why is he so committed to cramming Ridge down our throats? I always thought that Bradley had some kind of weird fixation with Ridge, like he saw Ridge as his alter ego, or that he had some mancrush on Ronnnnnnn Mosssssssss and that's why Ridge always got treated with kid gloves. But now Stephanie is gone, and Ronnnnnnnnn is gone, so what's up with the continued fixation on Ridge? He used to be a complete mama's boy. Has he even said anything about his mother's death? The two of them were very close, almost unnaturally so, and he couldn't be bothered to explain why he didn't come to her funeral or even call. Now he flies helicopters and recites poetry and has forgotten how to bathe. It's very evident that he's a completely different character. So I say, it's time to let go of Ridge. Keep him "in town but offscreen" like what happens with so many others. What is the current on-show explanation for where these characters are: Thorne? Taylor? Thomas? Mushmouth and Daisy? RJ? Jack? Donna? Caroline? I'm glad we saw Felicia in Paris, I thought she got lost in the supermarket or something. And it was nice that there was at least a reference to Steffy still being in Paris. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-330060

RuntheTable August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 (edited) My disappointment with Brooke is morphing into annoyance now. Is she being deliberately dense? I feel as if she is wearing blinders, or is experiencing tunnel vision. So many questions she should be asking: How did Deacon find out about Ridge? Why did he want to share that info with her? Why is Ridge refusing to seek professional help? Observations that should be slapping her in the face: Ridge has been the aggressor since his return from Paris Bill has only been reactionary to Ridge's aggression Ridge chose to toss her away like yesterday's garbage Ridge has set his new hallmark for standards by choosing her little sister Ridge doesn't want her, but he doesn't want her to be happy either Ridge is at least fifty percent responsible for his current condition Denying your happiness will not fix Ridge's problem Instead, we get her soliloquizing Ridge as if his life is over; well maybe if the fucktard would stop acting like a raging Peckerhead, and would go talk to a professional, he may be able to break through whatever wall is blocking him. This is the same type of hand holding, enabling bullshit Stephanie used to pull; so now that she is gone the torch is being passed to Brooke? Well just kick me in the ass, because when someone treats me like I am lower than the hocker they just stepped in; they ain't gettin my support. Brooke is denying her happiness because deep down she feels responsible. Ridge was only doing what he thought was right. Ridge was trying to save her. And now he can't draw. Well boo fucking hoo; he hadn't drawn a damn thing for over a year and he didn't shrivel up and die. Indeed, didn't he return from Paris extolling the virtues of poetry? So man up chump, and use that hand for something other than drawing and set to writing. Who knows, you might be the next Keats or Shelley. What does Deacon have to offer any women except his hottness? As an "animal person" I should hate Wyatt, but I know in real life Darin Brooks loves animals, so I am viewing that as a plot contrivance. I thought it was really cool that they mentioned Ivy's hair. From the "Spay and neuter your pets", to the off screen audience reactions (the oooohhhs, and aaaahsss playing in the background like it was the Maury show or a particularly tense showcase showdown.) At least the storyline acknowledged that Ivy's hair had changed. Unlike back in the day when Steffy would show up out of the blue with that awful orange ombre or fried crimped mess. WTH with Brooke getting all melancholy over Sludge's portfolio? He's not dead. (Although AKA that it's a great idea to kill him off.) If I were Bill and walked in on that, I would have been furious and promptly turned on heel right back out the door. When I saw her with that bottle on wine, I thought for a second that at last we were going to see the long-ago hinted about SL where Brooke started hitting the bottle. And now... with Deacon off the wagon (I guess) they could bond as drinking buddies. Paparazzi tailing Rick? Seriously? MsTree August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 That Bob Barker thing was embarassing. Like...SO embarassing. Not only embarrassing, but very irresponsible. Animal activist or not, NOBODY has the right to punch anyone for a difference of opinion, regardless if that person makes a stupid comment. MulletorHater August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 TK's schedule is killing every storyline he's involved with, they need to do something about it. Hopefully, cut their losses and forget about this "Ridge". Ridge was a main character when his mother was on the show. She's gone, let him go too. Losing Susan Flannery was epic. Losing Ronn Moss was a little disappointing, mostly because of when it happened. They could have done much better than TK, but why bother when you can't use all the old clips anyway. It's extremely frustrating and has been for months. Did TPTB not know that TK had no desire to relocate his family to the West Coast before they hired him? I suspect they couldn't see past his star power and the fan base that followed him to the show. The deliciousness (or is that maliciousness?) of sending a huge "fuck you" to Ronnnn Messss was probably another incentive that Bradley just couldn't pass up. TK's absences are a blessing and a curse for me. They are a blessing because I have no desire to see Ridge every day or have him involved in every storyline, which is what happened in the last few years of RM's tenure. On the downside, it brings several storylines to a screeching halt and kills their momentum. If Bradley was intent on ensuring that HT have a leading man of her own after she reportedly expressed a desire to move on from Batie, they could have simply hired TK to play another role instead of a main character like Ridge. He could have been a powerful business tycoon, whose business interests were in New York City. After passing the requisite chemistry test, he and Katie could have dealt with the challenges of being in a long-distance relationship. This could have killed two birds with one stone. HT would still have some screen time for other storylines and it would have explained the new guy's absences from the show. But, as usual, Bradley can't resist his triangles and quadrangles. Here it is, Bradley has Kringe supposedly engaged and in a committed relationship but you would never know it. When Ridge slickly asked Caroline to marry him when the show first aired, there was all kinds of excitement about the wedding plans, as well as various characters expressing their shock and concerns. There was a big announcement in the newspaper about the engagement of the daughter of William L. Spencer and the scion of the House of Forrester. We saw Caroline being measured for a Forrester original and were awestruck by how beautiful she was. We saw the families getting together for an engagement party and felt the undercurrent of tension as Bill tried his best to hide his disapproval from the groom's family. We wondered why Kristen and Felicia refused to come home for the wedding and were touched when Caroline convinced Kristen to be one of her bridesmaids. We saw Stephanie's difficulty in containing her bile when she realized that Kristen was, in fact, coming home. We also saw and knew that Ridge originally asked Caroline to marry him because she refused to put out and it gave him a chance to stick it to Bill. Even the lower middle-class Logans in the Valley weren't immune to all the excitement about the Forrester/Spencer wedding, as they talked about it and the girls dreamily wondered what it would be like to marry a "prince" like Ridge. Beth Logan was interested for her own reasons, having been Eric's college sweetheart when he knocked up freshman, Stephanie Douglas. The family was also excited about Brooke's engagement to her cop boyfriend, Dave. Viewers couldn't help contrasting the differences between the two engagements. Yet, when I think about Kringe and their engagement, all I hear are crickets chirping. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-331735

MulletorHater August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 My disappointment with Brooke is morphing into annoyance now. I honestly don't get it. It's as if there are 2 different writing regimes--one for adults and another for juveniles! Now, the second stringers have taken over from the adults and don't even pretend to write excellent storylines. It's like they're making it up as they go along to accommodate any given character/actor or the other. How did Brooke go from having the first adult relationship she's been in since she sailed off on the Shady Marlin with Nick after their wedding to this pile of dog feces? Seriously! The thought of her being used to prop Ridge and possibly being passed to Deacon to paw all over makes me sick. The whole thing is a real gyp. So, not only do we not get Mrs. Bill Spencer, but we aren't getting Red Suit Brooke either as it's evident that the inmates and kiddies are running things at FC. It would be nice if, when Brooke is in the office, she isn't commiserating about her stupid daughter, but actually remembering that she's a co-vice president. She should govern herself accordingly and do what's best for the company. If the so-called premier designer can't draw, pay for him to get some occupational therapy--at home. It's not as if he's been working prolifically for the last two years anyway. Anything is much more constructive than all this crying and blubbering over a loser who has yet to apologize to her for sneaking behind her back with Katie while they were ostensibly planning to get married. I suspect that Brooke having two men fight over her looked great on paper, but what is playing out onscreen, along with the execution of it, is downright nonsensical not to mention some of the most plot-driven and juvenile swill imaginable. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-332259

I don't think he "owned" his mistake so much as he's now trying to save face. Odds are he'd still be with Maya if her attempt to do an end run on Rick hadn't been revealed. IMO it's like Carter picked up a carton of milk, smelled that it was spoiled, drank it anyway, got all upset because the milk made him sick, and then acted like he deserves an award for surviving the experience. Maya was probably never actually going to marry him anyway yet he was willing to go traipsing about in his rose-colored glasses pretending like he's just the most romantic guy ever! Ugh, and AFAIC, the guy's a naive d-bag, he got played like one, and doesn't deserve any credit for having "escaped" from something even Stevie Wonder could see wasn't going to end well. And for the record, I'm not defending Maya at all. I just don't like how the show continually pisses on her to prop the likes of Carter, Rick, Oliver, Caroline...Next they'll probably find a way to blame her for Ridge's inability to draw. MulletorHater August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 So Hope is going to make Brooke a grandmother? When was the last time Bridget's name was mentioned. That was kind of glaring in the scene between Brooke and Deacon. Shhhhhh! We're not supposed to remember Bridget and the fact that there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell that Brooke and Deacon would become a real couple. It's better to pretend that Brooke and Deacon had this grand love story instead of remembering it for the 5 or 6-boink-a-thon that it was. Like others, I'm trying to figure out what makes Deacon so appealing as a partner other than the ability to make someone scream in the middle of the day? And, even that grows old after a while when the man is broke, busted and disgusted! Plus, didn't you get the memo that this is the "All About Hope Show?" She is the one that Deacon wants to "prove" something to. You know--that he's changed. Never mind that he has a grown son who could also be a parent by now for all we know. But, as someone said upthread, old Deacon lives by the Kevin Federline method: only try to actively parent the child whose other parent is wealthy. What's next? Will he offer to draw Brooke's bath water and pumice her feet? What's also particularly jarring is Deacon's full-court press. Which leads me to ask, is it me, or is there something in the water in Los Angeles County? In Beverly Hills? In Malibu? Who are these crazy, deranged and delusional people? Where did they come from? And, why is B&B wasting our time on people who obviously need mental health care if the writers aren't going to do a comprehensive storyline on the mental health crisis in this country? The only one who is shockingly behaving with some semblance of sanity is Bill. Maybe it's because he prefers double malt scotch and only deigns to drink water. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-332602

Gudzilla August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 I wish an octagenarian would come one the show and punch people out regularly. Betty white needs to open hand slap that empty headed Hope! I'll settle for Floating Head Darla head butting people. TK's schedule is killing every storyline? I thought it was the atrocious writing, unbelievable characterizations and misguided casting. You do bring up an excellent point here. In today's recycled dialogue I noticed the delightful Quinn using the same 'That's not Bill Spencer' and 'She always makes you apologize' statements Brooke was using a while back. Quinn was wrong though, Bill Spencer does grovel but only before the power of the golden cooter. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-333078

Not sure about that "majority". But whatever, Caroline's sassy attitude is no longer new and IMO doesn't need to continue to exist at the expense of Maya. I think there is an unpleasant (and perhaps unintentional) racial subtext to Caroline's treatment of Maya and the MWTs persist in writing Maya to make it appear that she deserves it. Maya is now the only Black female character on the show and I don't think it's a good look for TPTB to be using her as the resident whipping girl. There are ways to make her a villain without invoking certain negative stereotypes about Black women and without having one of the few Black male characters contribute to the trashing of her. I imagine the actress is happy to have a role on a popular, worldwide soap but AFAIC the character as it is currently written isn't doing her any favors in the long run. Anna Yolei August 30, 2014 Share August 30, 2014 Do Quinn and Deacon need to have the same conversation day after day after day??? Does everyone? All anyone ever talks about on this show is Hopeless and whether she'll have Chicken or Waffles for dinner. Brooke and Ridge in their heyday never ate up the show like these three (and the ToD with Steffy before them) do. Maya is about the only character that doesn't worship at Hopeless' s feet. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-334496

The show used to actually show things instead of telling us. The difference between 1987 and most of the show after 2003 is akin to the difference between smoking a brisket to cook it and microwaving one. On an aside to Old School B&B: original recipe Thorne.....Mmm, gimme more, please! Ronn Moss wasn't bad looking himself and it was refreshing to see KKL in storylines without the lone tear and having a backbone and just being happy in general. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3454-bb-whats-up-today-at-forrester-creations-daily-chat/page/42/#findComment-335392

RuntheTable August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 (edited) Not sure if it's okay to ask this but if it is, I was wondering what you all would say the top 5 or so iconic storylines for B&B I know some other posters have given you their ideas about the shows most iconic SLs, so I may repeat, but these would be mine: Caroline dies - The SL that introduced Taylor and set the groundwork for Bridge vs Tridge, the shows defining triangle for more than twenty years Thorne shoots Ridge - This SL gave us our first real glimpse into the dynamics and dysfunction inside the Forrester household; Thorne's bitterness, jealousy, and insecurities of Ridge, the unholy alliance between Stephanie and Ridge, and demonstrated without a doubt who was in charge of the family. Sheila Carter (round one) - Outside of a great addition to the cast; Sheila's villany touched pretty much every character on the canvas. Her SLs were deep and varied, but the one's that stand out for me are botching Bridget's paternity test and Stephanie's mercury poisoning. The battle for BeLief - As said upthread, probably the shows best SL ever. This was the quintessential story of the rich powerful family, going against the middle class wannabe. Instead of taking the high road, and working with Brooke to come to terms over BeLief; a compound Brooke developed to prevent wrinkling, the Forrester's instead engaged in all manner of under handed, mean spirited antics to get her to give them the rights to the formula. Once Brooke learned the depths of their treachery we were presented with a whole new Brooke, which we refer to as Red Suit Brooke. She came in with her attorney Conner, who was absolutely fabulous himself, and blew up the Forrester's universe by demanding controlling interest in FC's. This SL fostered some of the shows best writing and acting to date. Thorne and Macy - This was Thorne's first SL that didn't revolve around Ridge, and was the first step in ending the Forrester/Spectra feud. T/M launched many SLs and eventually led to Macy's addiction to alcohol and the romance between Thorne and Brooke. Ridge isn't a Forrester - This news hit Bell LA like a magnitude 10 earthquake, causing a seismic shift in the foundation of the show. Thorne, the "other Forrester brother", was actually Eric's eldest bio son, and it gave Brooke some much needed ammo in her war with Stephanie. Brooke/Deacon/Bridget/Hope - A polorizing SL, that forever changed the way viewers felt about Brooke. After months of fighting Bridget about her relationship/marriage to Deacon, Brooke, in a moment of weakness, began a lustmance with him. It also produced Hope, who was Bridget's half sister, and stepchild, and who was Brooke's daughter, but also her step grandchild. As with the BeLief SL, this one was full of great writing and performances by KKL, SK, JF, and SF. I will never ever forget when Stephanie found out and made Brooke look at herself in the mirror while screaming "you are NO heroine!". Stephanie Douglas's childhood - A really, really good SL that went a long way in explaining Stephanie's personality, and what drove her obsession with Ridge. It also introduced us to Stephanie's mother, played by the fabulous Betty White, and to her sister Pam, who still appears on the show played by Alley Mills. Nick Marone - Nick came on the scene as a dashing sea captain that stole Brooke's heart and became the first real threat to the almighty Bridge union. Unfortunately, the writers destroyed the character, but he still has long ranging impact on the show. He was Ridge's half brother and rival for Brooke, he got involved with Bridget which stoked those old flames of anger over Deacon, he later married Taylor and had an invitro baby with her, a boy named Jack who lives off the canvas now, only to find the eggs were actually Brooke's, he and Brooke had the infamous Foundry boink which created the RJ "who's the daddy" SL. It also introduced Nick's mother Jackie, played by the talented and beautiful Lesley Anne Down, who became Stephanie's rival for Eric, and who Stephanie accidentally pushed over the upstairs railing of the Forrester manse. Taylor is an alcoholic - This is the SL where Taylor's slightly askew halo fell completely off, and allowed Taylor's inner bitch to come out. In one of the shows best ever scenes, Taylor barges into a Forrester party she wasn't invited to and blasts the family at large with her resentments and anger; she also accused Stephanie of being in romantic love with Ridge which resulted in the slap heard around the world and forever changed the S/T relationship. Taylor's alcoholism was also a contributing factor in Darla's death, which led to Ally's troubled life.
